    I'm really enjoying this new warmup! Also just had to say I've been practicing with your warm-ups almost every day for a couple/few months now and I've made significant improvement with my singing! I have a neuromuscular disorder that affects my speech and I've noticed improvement with my speech as well. Thank you for your content, it's made a huge difference for me!

    Thank you so much for this! This is actually doable for my voice, where Alto and Contralto are both just too high for me to reach.
    These are easy to understand, and seem to have just the right amount of difficulty built in. Thank you so much for what you're doing. It literally has made the difference between my giving up on this, and my keeping at it. I'm too low to be able to even reach a Contralto's upper range, and no one wants to work with a female down here in this range. I actually found you while searching for low contralto exercises, and finally just gave up and figured I'd try the tenor warmups just for giggles. And they work beautifully. LOL. These vids of yours have helped SO much over the last few months. :)

    Really good. Do you have any thoughts on using a straw.There dosn't seem to be much advice as to whether it's useful or not.

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, I did a video on that sometime ago, but in general, all of the semi-occluded vocalizations help with allowing the vocal folds to change configuration more easily, so it can be helpful in that regard. The difficulty is in translating that to actual vowel singing.
      Thanks for a great question!
      Jeff

    I like this warm up -plenty of chest voice to get in the groove and then some head voice work. But I have a question about range. Upper registration, of course, because what else does a tenor worry about. In your 'full range' videos you generally work up to A4. However, I generally think of a tenor's money notes as being B4 to C5. Is this about genre? Contemporary singers go up to A4 and operatic or classical singers a bit higher? Perhaps most tenors comfortable up to the A and only the exceptional go higher? Just curious, I suppose.

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  2 роки тому +2

      Hello David! Always a pleasure! Great question/observation.
      The labelling system I have for the videos is borne out of my private teaching experience and clients' struggles with registration events.
      I chose 'full range' as a title modifier to label and emphasize the importance of technique around the secondo passaggio. In a majority of my private teaching experience the difficulty in singing higher pitches comes from this area.
      I chose 'extended range' as a modifier for any video that exceeds the third registration event in a given vocal fach. I did that in the hopes that it would impress upon the practitioner the idea that practicing in those areas was somewhat less common than practicing the 'full range' videos/ranges. My hope would be that vocalists would spend a generous amount of time and practice to develop a good registration event around their respective secondo passaggi (using the 'full range' videos) and then be better suited to practicing the extended range practices.
      You are correct in that full range for a tenor with a well developed voice (and consequently well developed technique) would be closer to c3 to d5, give or a take a few tones for individual variances.
      For those that use the channel regularly, these title modifier are an easy way to identify the range of the video most likely covered, at least on the high end.
      Thank you again for such a great insightful question!
      Best,
      Jeff
