I’m glad this video exists. I’m an upper baritone, and I’ve found that the full baritone warm up gets all of my lower range, and this one gets most of my higher range. Neither one really fits best but they work together. Great video Jeff!
Thank you Jeff, this is awesome!! Really appreciate all that you do for us. Is there any chance you could do a 15-min version of a Bartienor warm up as well? Thanks again.
Thanks a lot Jeff! I was really looking forward to this lesson. The lessons for the tenor were too high for me and too low for the baritone. But this one for Baritenor fits perfectly into my vocal range) Thank you very much! With love from Russia.
Thanks Jeff. 66 + and have learned the harmonica quite well. In bands and open mics, having a ball. Now I have decided to try singing... I quit in my teens when my voice changed and girls and sports took over. I have gravitated to you exercises and feel improvement. So much better than hearing others mainly talk and lecture. You have the right formula for me. Thanks a bunch.
Thanks Jeff, great videos! I'd like to have a video about the most common mistakes we, UA-cam learners, are likely to do while trying to exercice our voice with your videos. I mean, if we are doing things bad, the more we work out the worse we get, rather than the opposite! Thanks again!
Great idea! Thank you for subscribing, and thank you for the Super Thanks support! I can totally make that video - on the production schedule as of now! Thank you again! Jeff
Mr. Jeff Rolke it is IMPORTANT that I leave this comment: As a subscriber to your page, I benefit GREATLY from the warmups and other videos you post. Big fan of the content, big recipient of HELP and guidance from you, Sir. - JT
Enjoying your recent videos and discovered this during the winter surge in Covid when choral singing was not advised. (I'm 80 and so have to be careful) My choirmaster has finally admitted that Baritenor is a valid voice type!
1 year later and I have returned to this warm up after working several others daily - and y'know what? I can now navigate those fast trills fairly accurately. I love your warm ups. Thanks!
Thank you, Jeff! Your elegant presentation is exceptional-your subtle piano work and vocalizations feel uniquely attuned to each voice type, which is such a rare gift. I realized I was rushing to add chromatic notes toward the end but, after slowing down, I noticed the subtle structure you hinted at within the breath. It unlocked a new groove and brought insight into breath management. Whether this observation feels esoteric to me or obvious to others, it highlights the profound depth of your exercises and how they inspire meaningful development. Truly brilliant!
Thanks for being part of my baritone journey Jeff, I love your relaxed way of being and your dry humor it's very contagious. Also, it's very impressive that you play all the scales on the piano, it earnes you my respect. Keep being you Jeff, and thanks for creating awesome warm ups.
Best baritenor workout ever! It had all the highs I needed, and all the lows...notes, of course :) Keep up the great work, Jeff. You knocked another lesson out of the park!
Jeff, the baritenor warmup is amazing. I've been singing acapella four-part (SATB) harmony all my life, always tenor. BUT, I feel I've never been tenor "enough" to do justice to singing in a sustained way over the secondo passaggio. And while I do have a fairly decent lower range, I certainly can't pull off the bass part. Baritenor is the perfect solution to my lifelong quandary. Thank you for bringing the baritenor range out of the closet.
I been practicing with You Jeff for 3 years Straight i just want you too know I'm a professional opera singer as a high Tenor because of You i can easily do four octives from top too bottom thank you so much my good friend Jeff sincerly yours Thomas😊😊😊
Thanks, as always, for your warmups. I use them to prepare for recording. When lessons come back, my teachers will notice my progress, thanks to your videos.
Thanks for mentioning it - there are a fair degree of c5's in the tenor extended range videos if you want to practice in that range, but those videos will not cover the lower areas. Here are a few, give them a try and let me know what you think: ua-cam.com/video/sMVLdNOsiZw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/LRwkwCgjSco/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/WrJcsAOHo10/v-deo.html Best! Jeff
Thank you so much Jeff! Here’s some feedback you probably you didn’t expect, but your videos have been supporting my voice through a gender transition! I used to be a soprano and singing is extremely important to me. When I started testosterone and my vocal cords started changing I was determined not to lose the joy of singing. Your videos have given my new voice strength!
That's awesome! I am so happy to hear that the videos have been useful and supportive in that time! I wish you all the best in your continued practice and success! Thank you for watching, keep singing, and thank you for subscribing! Best, Jeff
There's no such thing as gender transition. One cannot become one's own opposite sex, end of story. No advance on this original problem is made by calling it "gender" instead of sex. There is no such gender as being one's own opposite gender. People who pander to your mental illness are not your friends, they are weak and don't care about you. The ones who care about you are the ones who will tell you the truth.
Thanks Jeff, this is a challenging one - the last 5 minutes made me realise where I need to work. As stated below - challenging therapeutic and badass.
@@JeffRolka Yes - worked on it again today and found the same issues. The last two exercises - (starting at 22.19) I find the OO -EE-OO-EE easier but the EEEE-AAAAAA-AHHHHHHHHHH harder to articulate.Where should I go to concentrate on learning how to articulate those quick notes better so they don't slur together... I sound like a cop car in an old black and white movie !😏
Thanks a lot for the warmup for this voice type. I haven't seen other people do warmups for baritenors so I'm really glad you did it. I wasn't quite sure if I'm a baritenor before I did this great warmup of yours but now I'm sure thanks to this video. When I just started singing at 14, I was told by my vocal teachers that I'm a bass baritone but it didn't feel right because my voice never cracked growing up, it just lowered in pitch from a low Tenor I think. That's when I really worked very hard on my voice and increased my range on my own. Over several years I was able to built my high range and it started fiting standard baritone range and then got higher than that and my speaking and singing voice got higher as well. That's why my voice and range became a misfit in the male voice type classification. My voice is not as high as tenor but it's higher than a baritone. It feels good to discover that there is a name for my voice type as well such as "baritenor" even though it's not official. After some researching, I realized that some people also refer to it as high baritone, lyric baritone, baritone with some tenor notes or baritone with some high notes up the sleeve or like you mentioned in your other video a tenor that didn't transition.
Towards the ending of the second half of these exercises, I realized I am more bari than tenor. But I’m sure I can train myself using your videos to be more comfortable to hit those up notes shown later in the video. Thank you
Thank you soo much, Jeff. I've used your warm up for my rehearsals and it made a huge difference to both my singing and confidence for my gig tomorrow. I hope the gig goes as well as the rehearsal though, am super nervous, but you gave me support like few other could, so yes, thanks again!
Awesome, this video does it for me. I can do baritone and tenor warmups from your channel, but the notes below G2 are uncomfortable, and in the tenor warmup a4 and above feels uncomfortable.
YES!@ Thank you. I love your series of videos. I am so happy you show your hands on the piano now so I can also learn these exercises on piano (or bass guitar) and do them offline if needed.

Happy New Year! …and welcome to the Year of the Baritenor (I just made it official). Hey Jeff, long time viewer first time commenter here. Might you consider doing a lesson based on various vocal effects that contemporary vocalists use (distortion/rasp, squeal, scream)? Many of us have only heard these sounds after they've been processed and gone through the implementation of various mic use techniques. It would be extremely helpful, to me at least, to hear what these techniques sound like before processing etc so as to get a sense of what we're shooting for when trying to replicate these sounds in our daily routines.
