    Solid info and too bloody true that parting off, as the last step, is the one most likely to trash a perfectly decent part.

    I don't know if they changed it back to a safer way, but the G50 clamp speed has to be after the tool call on some Haas lathes! Super dangerous, so make sure to program your Haas lathe correctly.

    I know this is off topic, but I am in the process of looking at a Haas ST35LY for our factory. Walter makes a blade holder that bolts right to the BMT turret and is much thinner profile. Fits really nice between both spindles. Has thru blade coolant on top and bottom of the insert and a nozzle right above the blade that shoots right down the groove.

      @@Hendreh1 Yes, I would say so.
      All depends on the set up / overhang and the rigidity of the machine.
      I used to really hate parting until I discovered proper carbide tipped parting blades, now it's only an occasional danger!
      Best advice I could give is to support the workpiece as long as you can with the tailstock, but as you're about to finish, take the pressure right off until it barely touches and then finish the cut, that way the blade doesn't get jammed.
      And always use the least tool overhang you can get away with to minimise vibration.

      when it gets closer to the center as speed drops without increasing RPMs.... I´m parting off with just G01 and G00 with chamfer/radius in few lines, maybe you can set it this way, let it go at F0,15 (mm/rev) maybe to X10 and then drop it down to F0,08 for example to X-2
      (part is 30mm in dia, needs to be 30mm long)
      G54 T0505;
      G92 S2200;
      G95 G96 S120;
      G00 Z-30 M03; (finish lenght because I have zero point set on the right side of parting insert instead of left)
      G00 X31 M08;
      G01 X27 F0,12;
      G00 X31;
      G00 Z-29;
      G01 X30 C1;
      G01 Z-30;
      G01 X10;
      G01 X-2 F0,05;
      G01 X31 F0,5 M09;
      G28 U0;
      G28 W0;
      M05;
      M30;
      this is example from how I´d write part-off with just reduced speed towards centre where your machine hits it´s maximal set spindle speed (just look at it at first on which X value it maxes out) on our Fanuc 0i-TC, few changes and you´ll do it in HAAS too.... I´m parting off like this everytime, just without slowing the feed towards the center :)
