MUSIC!! "U Make Me Feel" by MK2 - Фільми й анімація
I'm absolutely obsessed with Chelsea saying "we don't want to make fun of people based on their faith but we DO want to make fun of people if they suck" I love that energy.
Amen
absolute queen energy
It’s neat to see because they know they want to have fun with everyone unless they are a genuine piece of garbage.
There are creators like TheBirdman who I enjoyed for criticizing Cinemasins-but then every video now there is some weird obsessions with tearing down Christianity and those who believe in it when that’s not what people came to his channel for.
He has a right to do it-but he can’t be surprised especially when he acted disingenuous and made assumptions of those who believe in Christianity-grouped people in who weren’t awful people with bad people (whom really don’t practice Christianity-they are bad faith actors like in any group)-made up lies about what certain parts of the Bible were saying showing he didn’t read it or even try to understand it- and overall coming off as mean spirited and having a bone to pick like someone in his life who abused them or disrespected them or they felt offended with something they didn’t agree with or maybe felt like a prayer wasn’t answered or something and hence everyone under that label needs to be torn down-which is usually the case with those who act like the way they do-there is usually a reason when they act emotionally offended just at the mere existence of those who believe in something they don’t.
There is a difference between respectfully not believing or not understanding-and going out on vengeance tour by cherry picking one or two idiots and framing the whole group as idiotic or even malicious.
I’ll give Stephen king this-even with him being slightly mean spirited having almost every believer be an asshole-at least he made it clear it isn’t Christianity that’s the problem-it’s that people will take advantage of anything to tear each other apart-it would be something else if Christianity didn’t exist.
So I’m grateful that James and Chelsea focus on the individual rather than the group or the belief itself.
They should be made fun of, they are dumb.
As a Christian I agree
I love that Coraline review and how perfectly it misses the entire point.
I mean it’s based on work by Neil gaiman
@@anthonylesley982a lot of the church has always had some issues with gai men lol
You can really tell what viewpoint the reviewer comes from: traditional gender roles and submissive women and children. The fact that they ignored the plot to focus on the things that offended them as a person both shows their own personal extremism and makes the review objectively bad. If you don't agree with the reviewer's personal stance, you know jack all about what the movie's about or what actually happens in it.
I like that they can give a good star rating to something they find extremely offensive. It gives more credibility to the star rating imo, shows they're not completely ruled by their emotions, and are willing to go "hey, I hate this, it is an affront to everything I believe in, but it was well-made."
Yeah at least they're honest
The honesty is what made me really get both of their points of view. It’s like I would never watch this but wow such a well made film 4 stars. I assumed many of the reviews were really targeted at family outings with young kids. I didn’t agree with it but they really tried to still rate on merit with the stars
It's a common manipulative technique employed by religious people. "Look, we're reasonable, so maybe our fairy tales are reasonable too. Come join us!"
@@niemanickurwa I don't think that's it chief.
@@thatoneguy1299 Think about it, how can a movie be both great, but also terrible? It's like believing in God and science.
I love episodes like this because you can see James flip through his mental rolodex of horror movies in real time
Yes! 😂
I do not know why people get upset when Chelsea's influence "leaks" to the wider channel. I love her humor and insight and passion.
I'd absolutely be down for Chealsea to do an American Psycho kill count and podcast episode if she felt comfortable.
Please yes!
I third this.
I fourth
Absolutely!
I sixth this
As a Christian, I’m often questioned for my love of horror. I think almost more than any genre, horror gives me a newfound appreciation for life- and explores life and death. Are they intense? Of course, that’s the point. I feel like some of the Biblical stories are horrific in some way- yet they’re scripture and edifying.
Fascinating topic guys 😂
I’m not a Christian but I just want to say I have respect for you
Same man it’s an odd mix
im a christian myself and i love the 80s slashers and the old school stuff i have a strong stomach i can watch the super gory stuff.
@@willhuey4891 same here I'm catholic too☻
I’ve discussed the topic further on my channel if you wanna check it out!
Chelsea doing a kill count on American Psycho would be amazing! You can't be a fan of this channel without being a fan of James AND Chelsea. I'll definitely be waiting for it.
I totally agree... who the hell are these people who get upset by Chelsea?? Don't answer that, I don't want to know them
Yes!!
I was so excited when this was announced last week by Chelsea. As a Christian I can’t wait to see the foolishness in these reviews. This is going to be awesome.
This was a wonderful episode really enjoyed this. I’d watch another one of this.
Same here
Is that so? Please do describe what it means to be a "Christian" today?
@@greedlike I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose from the grave three days later. It’s basically the same as it’s always been.
@@tyronebullockjr7479 In your original comment, what did you mean by foolishness?
You know a review might be overreacting a little bit when I was absolutely convinced by the first half of said Child's Play review that they were describing Hereditary.
Im so ashamed how long it took me to get that one!
Imagine that person watching something like Haxan
@@pssd-ff-dth-grps-fn8797: Or The Night Comes For Us, they would literally die if they watched that one.
@@phantomkitten73 or Devil’s Rejects
I thought child‘s paly
watching this video now and seeing how chelsea f***ing KILLED the american psycho kill count is just awesome. she really did a great job.
Since being a little kid I always thought "Geez" was a shortened version for "Gee Wiz". Never thought it was related to religion.
Now that you mention it, it sounds like a toddler saying "Jesus".
I never knew that
In fact I prefer J man
I looked it up online. Guess it is a religious based curse word. So does mean I now have to go to H-E-(double hockey sticks)?
'Gee Whiz' and 'Geez' are both safe alternatives to saying 'Jesus' that go way back.
That Coraline review sounds like an unhinged individual wrote it.
Completely disconnected from reality.
When I worked at a video store we would have parents who were FURIOUS if we played Coraline 😲 there's just something about that movie!! I love it.
Lmao what was that person even talking about I couldn’t understand a word he/she was saying
I love Neil Gaiman! The book is wonderful, and the animated adaptation was perfect...
That Child’s Play review really did me in. The fact that they fucking left over *Child’s Play* just really cracks me up.
What kind of “film critics” critique films from a genre for being too violent/upsetting, where the main point/goal of that genre is to do these things? 🤔
I think critics can critique horror films for being violent and upsetting if it's needless/doesn't add to the overall plot/atmosphere in any way. For example, I think that human centipede got a decent amount of valid criticism for being about a human centipede. That being said, if the word bimbo is too much, maybe they shouldn't just go to the movies??
The kind that gets clicks from "concerned" Evangelicals who feel a thrill peeking in on how sinful "the world" is. (he writes, having grown up as one of those Evangelicals)
Not going to say that violence in horror is inherently bad, but you're so wrong about it. The point of horror is to scare, not showing graphic violence.
@@luismarioguerrerosanchez4747 you're right, this is why so many horror movies suck. Too many people don't know what makes something horrifying.
@@luismarioguerrerosanchez4747 I mean I don’t think Horror needs to be inherently scary. A lot of movies that are considered scary aren’t good
I'm not a religious person. But to whomever is, good for you✌
Thank you Jason Voorhees, very cool.
Respect
@@shardoftears 🤣
Thank you jason voorhees?
You have literally been to hell and back, and yet you don't believe?
Here's another comment saying I'm a Christian who really enjoys horror movies! I find that they tell us interesting things about what the movie creators think scares the human race and how we as viewers react to those things. I don't think horror movies and Christianity are incompatible and as a writer I've even debated writing a horror novel.
well in all reality depending on how you interpret things the bible is slightly on the horror side
@@postle121 Well, the OT has lots of horrifying things in it.
Yeah. Some parts of the bible is stuff you can put in cosmic horror *ehem* Ezekiel *ehem* It's quite a black card for faithful like us. This is the first time I've actually heard of Christians being mad at horror movies for being horror movies lol. As a Catholic, we're just, "Well, it's a movie," though it does bother me when they portray Catholics as nutjobs. Not that I'm saying there's none. It's just not all of us.
@@aklhj I LOVE horror movies. Especially psychological horror. I get upset when they portray Christians as nutjobs too--being a Christian--it's usually because people have this misconception about us and it's done where they show the ignorance of it. It bothers me more when they show that Christianity is the ONLY faith out there. Like if you believe in God, you're automatically a Christian. If you do any kind of "ritual", you're a Christian. Like there's nothing else that exists. I mean if you're going to do such a movie, at least get to TRULY understand the faith so you don't continue to fuel the stereotype. For me, it's akin to doing black-face and fueling the black stereotype.
@@FallenAngelHiroko Let's establish straight out the door - there's no one way to truly understand existence. So yeah, it's a bit rude to portray religion as bad and then stick to philosophy, and even when those work, science will always save the day, right? Not quite. I mean as writers, one must get the grasp of what they're writing, and not really attempt to try portraying a subject that is going to require much more than a Wikipedia search. The line between being just ignorant and a showoff, and being knowledgable and respectable, is often treaded with film making.
The Spooky Rice shout out this episode and the Ryan Hollinger s/o last time...I’m being so fed. If you mention SpookyAstronauts and Possessed by Horror, my UA-cam horror crew bingo will be complete lol

@@danieldavid1113 I didn’t say you were. I’m asking, how are horror movies basically demonic?
@@katiebayliss9887 there is death something not of God there is sex in most. Some movies even have to do with the devil him self and the Bible says be careful what you put before you’re eyes
I think James created a masterpiece with that silent Coraline film idea..god it sounds like it could be incredible..
Great to see so many fellow Christians here who are also big horror fans! No other genre consistently touches on supernatural concepts that force us outside our comfort zone and into a place where we can explore spirituality, confront the darkness of the world and ask existential questions that may actually nourish our faith. Christians who dismiss an entire genre (or worse, judge you for enjoying it) for having dark imagery or what they perceive as “worldly” messages are missing out on so many deep, meaningful cinematic experiences.
I’ll just say it: the games you “torture James with” are my favorite videos to watch on the channel. A matter of fact, a series of these games alone would be great!
As someone who's actually religious and grew up watching Scary Movie, I feel so privileged I got to see it at such a young age after hearing that guy's review😂😂😂
I would die for a sequel to this video.
that slenderman food analogy was like a Christian AVGN rant
In a good way or in a bad way? I'm not sure I wanna see this (I hardly watch the podcast anyway)
lol
Anything you guys make I will watch. Got to stay loyal to Dead Meat

Hi
I can't wait until I finally hear a podcast intro that starts with "I'm James, I'm Chelsea and we're married and we like to get scared together".
watching this podcast episode in 2023! i’m so glad we live an an age where chelsea did an american psycho kill count. it’s one of my favourites y’all have done.
Guess it's time for a rewatch!
Now can we get horror icons reviewing Christian movies?
Have horror movies reviewing christians
Watching most Christian media is a horror experience in and of itself.
@@petery6432 Christian movies are in horror movies most demonic and paranormal movies have Christian stuff like Ed and Loranne Warren
Reading movie reviews for any type of movie is the best one time I saw this review for Joker and it said that they where mad because it was RATED R and said that it was wrong because superheroes are for kids and it was wrong to make a something for kids RATED R and the first thing that came to my mind was HAVE YOU READ ANY COMIC BOOK EVER I mean especially any comic book with The joker in it.
Cut to Joker cutting his face off in that one New 52 arc.
Sounds like the same kind of person to get mad at adult animation because "aNiMaTiOn Is FoR kIdS!"
@@the13throse I showed my folks a picture of Made in Abyss. How cute and "fluffy" the visuals were and how cheerful the music was. Then I described an episode where what's his face does human experimentation and the episode where Riko was bleed from every "hole" (eyes, mouth, ears, nose, butt, and vagina) due to the curse of the 4th layer. They were horrified. Not because those things happened but because the show expects you to be "happy" after the gut punch and how cute the visuals were. --My folks already long accepted my "weirdness".
My dad bought me the Killing Joke when I was like 7 cause of that mindset.
As a follower of Dead Meat and a servant of Christ this is gonna be interesting
Same bruh
Generally speaking, Christians and horror movies tend to not mix. To us, the ultimate horror is having our souls being shoved into the Lake of Fire and experiencing the second death. Note: human souls do not go to Hell. Instead our souls are destroyed, according to the Bible.
Lol same
@@stanleyteriaca2184 I mean I'm assuming whether we r destroyed or shoved into Hell we are burning in Hell for eternity either way we dont just stop existing that's something Satan will try to convince you is truth. Also this is according to the Bible.
Same. I have been a Christian for my whole life since I was born. 15 years.
" yo Jez saved you a spot in the middle of the long table" LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo
james had me screaming when chelsea said “chode” as one of the bad words i almost automatically knew
Love how much Jennifer's Body gets mentioned on Dead Meat now. It's one of my favorite movies and I love that it's finally getting its moment of appreciation.
I almost choked and died on my coffee because I decided to take a drink while Chelsea was discussing the butt tattoo of The Boy. I’m okay now, but I will be pausing all videos I watch anytime I need to drink something from now on. 😂😂😂
I've seen every podcast episode but here I am on the brand new Candy Corn playlist watching them all again! Thanks for making this Chelsea!!
the conjuring was actually the first horror movie i saw in a theater because my brother's friend's deeply christian mother liked the 'strong religious message' and took a group of kids to go see it
That is good Mother
43:10 up until this point I was sure it was Trick 'r Treat. It's stunning how well everything fits : The cast made mostly of kids and teens, kids doing awful stuff on cam ("Don't forget to help me with the eyes"), done in a kill count, and so much more !
Dude the way that a couple of these reviews make me laugh so fucking hard is amazing. As a Christian myself, some of these are so hilarious and very difficult to take seriously lmaooooooo
It's so entertaining to read some of them 😂
This isn’t a representation of us at all.
GREAT topic!! My older brother (now 51 years old) wrote Christian movie reviews for a small, independent publication when he was in his late teens in the 1980's. He had a whole collection of them for ages, but has since tossed out most of them. He did hold onto a few of them, though, just for fun. It's hilarious to look back at them decades later. I wasn't sure if people were still out there writing these kinds of reviews, but of course they are. P.S. I love you guys. Just had to say it. 😉😄
This is definitely one of my favorite podcasts so far. It's been really interesting to listen you two discuss horror movies from a different perspective. Also, James going through the 5 stages of uncertainty is hilarious.
Chelsea used Confusion, it was super effective. :D
I like the way the reviewer for child’s play thought it was that wicked or whatever when isnt it just evil code that makes the doll evil? Compared to the original where the doll is pretty much possessed by a serial killer thats pretty tame
I'm Christian and horror is my favorite genre, I honestly don't understand how anyone could be offended by them
Different people different perspectives I guess. We're all made differently.
I love every episode. Watching all of them start to finish currently. This podcast is one that captured my attention and never let it go.
PLEASE do another round of these! I keep coming back to listen to this podcast its hilarious!
Just before I watch, it would be interesting to hear from the Jewish and Islamic communities on the same movies. It would kinda be cool to see similarities and differences in the Abrahamic religions take on horror movies...
Only Christianity can be attacked. You can't go near Jewish and Islamic religion.
I am a Christian, and I love horror. Have since I was a kid, watching them with my dad. I can easily seperate my faith from entertainment!
Like my husband was asking if Supernatural's take on God was offensive to me. It isn't- it's just a show. (Highly recommend Supernatural, not sure if you two have watched it?)
What are your thoughts on the show Lucifer? Just asking cause I think it's sus but its alright if you don't.
Loved it. Saw the whole series. And I'm a Christian. Specifically Non-denominational.
Same here only I didn’t watch it with my dad😂. I’m actually more comfortable watching movies like that with my mom. My mom didn’t really care what I watch growing up as long as it wasn’t overly sexual. But I don’t try to entirely separate my faith from entertainment I try to judge you based on the merits of the flicking itself but I also my faith definitely does play a part in my enjoyment.
this was such a fun episode!! i really love these games you “torture james with”, they're always so much fun to listen to and watch
The way I thought this was going to be you guys watching horror christian movies (like the ones from The Asylum). Needless to say, this is so much better.
Btw, the comparisson between the sandwich and the movie. Actual perfection.
I actually loved "The Boy" up until the third act. It was great and incredibly suspenseful up until that moment. Much like "Mama."
Yoooo I literally just watched American Psycho for the first time like 12 hours before watching this podcast! I was like Oh, James, it’s American Psycho!!!!
I need more of these please, this was amazingly done and a lot of fun.
If you love the snowman, in the same vein is another short animated film called Father Christmas. Same illustrative style, though it's not silent it always goes hand in hand with the snowman here in england.
And I love it.
Watching this episode for the first time and all of Chelsea's fears of covering American Psycho came true as soon as it happened lmao... sad world we live in when people still can't handle honest and witty critiques on themselves/people they idolize
Went straight to this website and was blown away by their review for I Saw the Devil. It's a must read.
That was a really fun episode. I hope this makes a comeback. Love you guys
I LOVE the games you guys play, Chelsea!! I watch those episodes over and over again lol
I am Christian as a well as a lover of horror so I really can't resist reading Christian reviews. Sometimes the outrage entertains me and sometimes Im surprised when some reviewers actually loved the film!! I read Plugged In the most.
"You would have more fun thinking of funny adjectives to describe your feet for 85 min" that is actually such a good line
This is the earliest I’ve been. So happy that I even listened to the latest episode they did before listening to this
So excited to hear they're going to do American Psycho soon. One of my favorites and been waiting for this one for quite a while!
The only one I got was Coraline and I got that immediately because it's my favourite film. Absolutely loved this!!!
dang i thought the slender man review was Hellraiser at first. Has bells tolling when Pinhead arrives and theres even a Marry statue at one point and the villain seems kinda polite despite having ears and eyes
I was listening to this on my podcast app and the mention of SpookyRice made me extremely happy as someone subscribed to both his and your channels and I agree that there should be some wild ass Evangelical version of what he does.
The "geez" jokes made me laugh pretty hard
I love when you guys play games on the podcast!
Here’s another commenter saying I’m a Christian and I’m OBSESSED WITH HORROR as well as Dead Meat 😂🙋🏻♀️
This was so great! Went down a rabbit hole of reading christian movie reviews: laughed my ass off all day!
Oh my god. Please do that again! I really had a good laugh during this episode! You made me google some reviews myself! :D
Ten Commandments kill count when?
Wait did you time travel?
Hol up

Whenever James does something inappropriate out of Chelsea’s view and looks at the camera I feel like he’s one of my childhood friends when we got away with something and sneak an ear to ear grin.
Chelsea mentioned The Snowman, here in Finland it comes from the tv every christmas eve, so hearing someone say that it's mostly a uk thing made me realize that not everyone in every country watches that on christmas.
I’m glad Chelsea finaly got to do an American Psycho dead meat kill count! She seemed very excited while filming it and did a great job covering all of the kills
As a Christian myself and as a horror movie lover myself I can’t wait to see this
My family is very religious and hates the fact I love and watch horror movies. Yet I remember my aunt taking me to see The Passion of Christ, to "Understand Jesus's pain" which I swear messed me up more than any horror movie ever has.
The Anti-Christ Demon Baby scenes and all of that are very horror. I think a case could be made that Passion of the Christ is indeed a horror movie.
Y'all are amazing for creating a show on the Spiritual Concept in Horror. GREAT JOB
thank you for all the work you put in this series, Chelsea!
I think it would have been too obvious what it was for James to guess it, but Christian Answers review of The Princess and the Frog os too funny with its pearlclutching over the whole Voodoo plot
0:58 chelsea looks so annoyed that james interrupted her lmao nice cut btw
the thumbnail's perfect.... I never knew that I needed to see Jesus drinking a slushie with popcorn
You can tell what a wonderful and wholesome person Chelsea is because at no point in this entire video is she ever mean, and yet she apologize for being mean at the beginning 🤣. You guys are great, keep up the awesome work 🙂.
There's the Shaun the Sheep movie. Modern silent animation with virtually no dialogue
To answer the question: Yes I love those games cus I can play along and guess along... always up for games, Chelsea. Keep em coming^^
I love all of your podcast episodes but I’m still crossing my fingers for that Too Many Cooks episode!
Loved that Chelsea referenced the animation short The Snowman, love that short. There's a follow up called the Snowman and the Snowdog. There's a version of The Snowman with an introduction from the legend David Bowie so you might get James to watch it this festive season!
I'd make a request, that James and Chelsea do a podcast episode that's just them talking about pro wrestling for awhile

Mania right around the corner!
I mean I’m a devout Christian but I love horror movies to death
no words can express the immense joy i felt while listening to this episode
I'm excited for the American psycho podcast! I also love that movie so much and people view me crazy for it but I think they miss the deeper meaning of the movie and it makes me so happy hearing Chelsea say that and I'll be looking forward to the episode whenever it comes out
the guy who made graduation day was a former rabbi and the person who made halloween was a muslim, Moustapha Akkad.
So thats nice
Chelsea has A LOT of patience waiting for James to guess something! haha
as a christian and a horror movie/dead meat enthusiast I really appreciated/loved this dead meat episode
Lol the fucking range of James's facial expressions as Chelsea was listing off those kills for the boy, was so hilarious to me 😂

James was so proud of that "Brahms Stans Tramp Stamp" joke. I love it
That thumbnail picture is too much, dude. I’m laughing my ass off, but it’s still nuts. I watched that movie Courageous when I came home from the bar very drunk and very stoned and was laughing hysterically the whole time, mostly at the bad acting.
