A note on the Jagged Wall confirmation options. There's an option to have the placement preview while the button is held, and have it fire on button release. This is kinda the best of both worlds, since if you just tap the button, it's the same as the no-placement option, and if you want the placement option, you just hold the button.
no literally maybe i’m biased bc i never really played ow1 a bunch but i love the feeling of “even if i lose it’s fun to play on this hero” type heroes and sometimes it feels like you HAVE to win to have a satisfying game loop on certain heroes. could just be a skill issue😅
You make a good point. Frankly I enjoy all the new heroes. I mained Kiriko for a long time and still play her, Junker Queen and Rammattra are both very fun Tanks and Mauga has his moments. Illari was great before they nerfed her gun because DPS heroes were melting everything with her. Lifeweaver's really the only one where they dropped the ball, but I like the risk they took with him. I still enjoy playing him but I know there's games where I'm weak with him.
If this is the direction OW devs wanna go then I'm quite positive about the future of the game tbh. More fun and high skill levels heroes and being transparent to the community in general
I feel like Doom still has a higher skill ceiling but definitely for different reasons than Hazard. Hazard's mode of dmg is incredibly straight forward, one ability is even auto-aim, but his skill is really found in the wall and his mobility of course. Positioning. Doomfist is the same, but instead of that skill ceilimg being one of positioning and coordination (Hazard ult is my main reference here) where he lines up enemies for his teammates too, Doom is a little more precise and focused on himself. He gets the kills, he jumps in, times block right to get charge, he ults to keep himself alive whilst also possibly securing a kill, etc. It's just a matter of playstyle, but I think the fact that Hazard has more teamwork orientation with his plays makes him easier to pick up

The spikes *dont* actually pierce anything and everything - And they do actually come down at a *slight* angle. If youre up against a wall that is taller than you, and the spikes from from that direction (ie other side of wall), the wall WILL actually block them. Likewise you can block them with defensive abilities - Reins shield, defense matrix, orisas jav spin, genji deflect, etc. Just have to angle up to block them. Even life weavers petal will work - BUT, and as a note to how it comes at an angle: If you put the platform in the air and stand *directly* under it, youll get spiked. You need to step "back" a smidge and be under the edge (opposite side from where the spikes are coming), and itll block em.
My big thing about Spikeguard is how forgiving the resource is. Whenever I need it, I always feel like I have enough resource. I barely even thought about it.
Theres a high possibility they used altered code from the japanese passive in his wallclimb to skip the step of writing the entire code again. The problem is that when theyve done this in the past it ends up with bugs and issues on the ability, which is what happened with Kiris TP. That ability had some major bugs before they just straight up rewrote the code for it

I actually found that hog is the worst to play against. His leap is incredibly slow, so hooking him out of it is easy. While his wall blocks hook, it has kinda low health and gets shredded pretty quick. His block is an equal trade with Hogs take a breather too as the damage isn't high enough to actually drain him.
I've noticed that I quite like playing characters with wall climb, Genji, Hanzo, Kiriko are all in my top 5 most played for ow2. From what I could tell Hazard wall climb somehow feels less consistent. It's not only at a greatly reduced height, but in general it feels like it doesn't grab as consistently and the mantle range feels like it should be further than it is. I'm sure some of the bugs are related to tank's pov vs actual model size is always a bit wonky, but I really hope they clean it up a bit before the actual release. Other than that, sick character that I hope only gets a block auto aim nerf and maybe a slight buff on the shotgun damage falloff range so it is more effective at mid range.
Just hate when teammates try to brawl with him. He gets melted by face tanks. I love Brig so no problem at all playing against him when he's diving. If the enemy Hazard tries to face tank even better, I switch to Zen and make him rage switch/quit. I played him a bit but didn't feel like I was getting the most out of him just because his skill ceiling is so high (and undoubtedly I wasn't playing him ideally). I play D Va very well and I'm not a Tank main so I won't be playing him much.
Ik you said you wouldn’t recommend the walls placement controls but there’s a variation that lets you trigger it on release instead of using a second button press to put it up like meis wall (so you can aim it or just shoot it out fast if you want to)
i think the block should have its damage reduction reduced, i personally think it makes sense for ramatras block to have the most damage reduction at 80 percent, dooms block at like 75 which is where i think it is, and hazards could lowkey go down to like 50 since its literally just free damage simultaneously as established
The only thing I don't like about Hazard is his block projectiles. I think it actively hurts his fun factor a lot. The issue is that his entire kit is high skill expression EXCEPT for block. Because of how strong it is, you're almost forced to use it whenever you get the chance. Why would I try to shoot a character that's A-D strafing with my shotgun when I can just hold one button and stand near them (all while taking less damage). It just sucks to lose so much of his potential skill expression because block is the way it is. I personally wish they'd get rid of his block projectiles entirely & buff some other part of his kit. Maybe improve his primary weapon spread. Maybe while blocking he can reduce his other cooldowns. Just either make the block projectiles less of a crutch or get rid of them entirely. Still think he's the best hero release since OW2 & might be the most fun tank ever made tbh. Just had to rant about his block because it sucks lol

Don't you think Mauga is also really annoying for Hazard? I didn't have too much trouble with the Orisas I played against during the playtest, but Mauga was tricky

Especially when deciding on how to engage the team fight. IMO Doomfist is slightly overturned now, considering Orisa is meta and yet ZBRA and Cartifan are still hitting rank 1. Anyway just have to wait and see
i think his block should only do damage to players who are 1) near him and 2) actively attacking him. it shouldnt be able to get free kills on a fleeing player you happen to right click nearby on after whiffing your slash from violent leap (not that i did that or anything *smile* )

Sidenote: hazard's ult CAN'T BE CLEANSED by Kiriko, at least in the current state of things. In my opinion, it contributes a lot in judging hazard op.
Since they removed bhop from Doom's slam they probably gonna do the same for Hazard's leap.

Hazard also has a bug that makes your entire team immuned to Sombra’s EMP lol
Fun thing: Hazard's gun does more damage than Doomfist's pellets but the TTK is quite a bit slower.
He overall has more sustain damage and is less bursty than doom.
@@abudgie6909 Yeah, doom has 4 ammo with a special 1 by 1 reload. Hazard has 8 and can reload with the block while dealing dmg.
