@@X_MANGO__ As a ball main, the rework was good in that it didn't mess up any tech and gave extra options to reach high ground for those who don't know the tech. But it didn't fix anything that was fundamentally problematic (CC stacking, Sombra, Junk trap etc). They need to make a game-wide change around CC. Right now, I hard roll teams with no counter-picking (which shouldn't be so easy) but once they pull out 3-4 counters, Ball is like torture (which shouldn't be the case). A middleground would be nice. Also ball still sucks against 90% of other tanks.
I played OW(1) on a friends account and got to enjoy it. Then made my own when OW2 was released. I mainly played Hanzo/Junkrat/Echo and then became a Doom Main. The playstyle is so unique. Looking back, i now see what all these original OW1 Pros said about how bad some changes from OW2 are. For me, i now had to stop play Doom, cause its literally impossible to enjoy the game. And looking at him for an example, i see the game having core-issues but only new stuff added. I play OW2 when i stop playing other games but i accept, that i cant main this game anymore in this state. (Edit: Im GER so sorry for my spelling, hope its right :)
I personally would love if you completed the battlepass, COMPLETELY even the last bits with the little titles and all that, you get the next battle pass free.
@@BananaWasTaken they should at least allow you to buy previous battle passes after you've completed the current battle pass. Able to complete the season battle pass and just two weeks
@@BananaWasTakenDon’t underestimate how many people buy the battle pass and how few complete level 200. Level 200 of the battle pass is a metric shit ton of grinding, I don’t think they’d lose that much money at all
@@blazex224 fair point. And I suppose the possibility of getting the next battle pass free might encourage more people to buy the battle pass so they might make more money if they do.
Regarding what you said at the end, an Overwatch animated show could be incredible (*if done well and not just made as a cash grab). Imagine the best shorts with a half-decent story arc. We would eat that shit up as OW slaves and there's massive potential for them to make so many new fans.
Riot spent $10 million per episode on production alone for Arcane. They probably spent another $30-40 million on marketing. There's just no way Blizzard would ever be willing to spend that much on what is essentially a prestige ad campaign. Not just because of a difference in corporate principles, but because a cursory cost-benefit analysis will tell you that there's simply no way they could get a return on investment for Overwatch, which has a much smaller player base than League of Legends and low penetration into the all-important East Asian consumer base
The problem is that would be fine if it was a brand new game. But for those of us who adored OverWatch 1, OverWatch 2 will always leave a sour taste in our mouths.
I might be in the minority (I started playing OW1 consistently in 2019) but I still really enjoy the core gameplay. It's very fast, dynamic and rewards quick thinking/good decision making. Comboing ults and abilities with perfect timing gives a special kind of dopamine. It feels very satisfying as a sweaty gamer 😅 Even though sometimes it's just a chaotic mess, it's a beautiful chaotic mess imo. Of course more could be done as far as certain characters receiving skins, balance changes etc. I like how the game feels and still truly enjoy grinding ranked (I have a lot of friends who play which helps IMMENSELY) and improving my game sense/mechanics 🤙 I still see myself improving even after playing for 5 years. @@nathancasey7712
6V6 will be so much better. I miss the off-tank role. I used to play all 3 roles consistently in OW1, but when it went to 5v5, i stopped. I'm so bad on tank now that I apologize after each match when doing my tank placements.
Hey buddy, you know the role coming back from 6v6 will be MAIN tank and not off tank right? A shield tank will now be mandatory just like it was in OW1. And now tank players will be pressured to play shield tanks more than ever before in OW2.
@@georgealvarez1195you can definitely get away with playing just off tanks in 6v6 and you won't be forced to swap due to counterswaps as they were not as bad in 6v6 to deal with
Great job, Yeat. Overwatch has become such low hanging fruit for rage bait that its nice to hear from someone who genuinely plays the game and sees it for what it is, instead of what it isnt.
No matter how flawed and hated a franchise is I always find a way to enjoy it because of how cool and charismatic the characters are and Overwatch is a perfect example of this.
After watching Spilo talk about 6v6 I don't think this game is salvageable outside of cosmetics which Blizzard is heavily leaning on. Playing tank is the litmus test on the mental capacity of how much pain one can take.
i mean for a game that is still active for the past 8 years, it is a very big feat already. some dont even last for 2 or 3 weeks . nothing lasts forever. OW is already a very succesful game in its own right.
9:50 this whole argument that 6v6 was only better for tank players is crazy. Just because as a DPS or support I don't have maximum impact doesn't mean the game wasn't better. If I had maximum impact I could one shot everybody but that wouldn't be fun. OverWatch 1 had a dance that was unique like the tango or the salsa, It had rhythm. OverWatch 2 destroyed that dance.
Well I didnt say anything about maximum impact, I just said they had less impact and they did because there was more mitigation in the game. If you as a dps like shooting tanks, shields and matrices more then 6v6 is for you. If you as a support like to spend most of the game comfortably healing tanks then 6v6 is for you. I'm not here to tell you want flavor of icecream to like i'm just giving words of caution because I believe that a lot (not all) of the older dps and support players are frustrated at the game for other reasons and they think 6v6 is the magic pill to their problems.
OW1 = chess OW2 = checkers OW1 has significantly more depth. More strategy. That's why I loved it. I put up with OW2 because of the addiction but my playtime has dropped significantly. Full flex player here btw who played Support most, dps 2nd most, tank 3rd most. Rein being my 4th most played hero, I was pretty much a Rein one trick in OW1. I don't touch tank in OW2 at all.
Haven't played since Mauga release and no idea why YT recommended your video. But from the Steam numbers OW2 has gotten around 30% growth in players since Venture release. And a smaller bump for Juno. So giving access to the Heroes for all players was a big win for the player count it seems. Good for them. Not that I'll ever gonna play again, but good for you guys still loving it too.
I think 6v6 will be the magic pill as a flex dps player personally. It has to be like 70% of my games ill queue up, wonder why my doom or rein or hog is 1) having double deaths than minutes for the current game, 2) playing those heroes in comp at all quite frankly... Then i wanna queue tank so i can enjoy the team aspect with a set of living teammates that has a tank alive and well. I'll probably win more, but i quickly realize why those still playing tank are probably just prioritizing enjoyment and nothing else. Theres nothing wrong with that, but fuck its the quickest selling point for a different game when this one just encourages the tank player to have fun and throw or tryhard and enter instantaneous depression. I want 6v6 back because the roles will be more equal, instead of your whole team looking up to your tank like a god. Cause right now, hes your queen on the chess board and having no queen is just pain.
I have a solution to that: Force activity to maintain top 500 (or 100 in this case) You can't camp many slots if you HAVE to play often to maintain a slots, because playing also means going up and down
@@violet9214 I agree, but they tried that years ago in og ow, and people cried and used the excuse of "I don't have time to play all the time". And that is fair, because most normal people with a 9-5, really wouldn't have time to play hours each day to hold top 500/100. What ruins it, is people stream/content creators, who play the game like a fulltime, because at the end of the day, it is a fulltime job for them. It would suck to be knocked out of top 500/100 because you don't have time to play, but at the same time, if you did have enough time to play, it would give people a chance to take up slots that streamers/content creators can't camp on.
I recently came back and besides a month or so when OW2 launched, i haven't really played since 2019 or 2020. I aggree that they improved a lot of things and there is a good foundation now. But the most disappointing part to me is just the level of toxicity even in quickplay. After role queue launched, there was almost like this golen age of QP. The games had somewhat good quality and people where very chill for the most part. When i came back, i've spend the first couple of days just getting flamed for not knowing how to play. And that just seems to be the normal experience these days. It feels like people expect you to take QP as serious as comp and if you want to try out new characters, you just have to accept that you're getting flamed for the entire session. I also don't recall running into people throwing QP games in OW1 but in OW2 it happens all the time. It's just very exhausting and after talking to some friends, they also recommended to not just leave VC but also mute text chat. Which is very sad, but also very reasonable imo And after 3 months, alongside visibile scoreboards i think the main reason for this toxicity is that blizzard punishes you a lot more for leaving QP games. I don't think players got more toxic but in OW1 if someone got tilted, they just left the game instead of making their anger everyone elses problem. In OW2 you're kinda stuck with every lobby, so people get angry and can't leave. But it's still QP so they also don't have a reason try to win. Toxicity and throwing just seems to be the logicial consequence of that.
i pretty much agree with yeatle. the game is fun and IMO it's been fun basically the whole time. the only time i really stop playing OW is when i have a backlog of singleplayer games that suck up all my time instead. the worst period of OW for me was the year before they added role lock where every match was a standoff on who would be forced to play tank or support so the rest of the team can have fun. i never cared about pve or about cosmetics at all, so it's been pretty much smooth sailing. i do genuinely miss playing off tank zarya and off tank dva, but support got more fun so i play that instead. i think most of the people clamoring about 6v6 need to learn the idiom "you can't go home again". 6v6 isn't a panacea, it solves some problems and creates others, but no matter what, you will never get back the 'magic' you believe was lost when the game went to 5v5. it's impossible. you are not the same person and it is not the same game.
I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they said the 6v6 playtest won't be until season 15 or 16. there's a lot of stuff they need to change to get 6v6 going, namely optimization on the new engine (adding 2 extra heroes' bullshit is hard for the wee little switch)
i recommend trying the soft role lock thing they're gonna try next season (?). dk for sure if they're doing it next season but it seems like it'd be fun for some games to be 2-1-2 or 2-2-1
I would say the cinematics recently weren't awful (the Mauga one was actually pretty cool imo and has an art style ripe for a "Saturday night" Talon cartoon), but seeing a series cancelled at Netflix was so heartbreaking. Had they not made the game F2P, it wouldn't have lived as long as it has, but that can only go so far due to the criticisms about the monetization you mentioned. With that said, I still have so much fun in this game and I only wish the best for the remaining members of the OW team especially considering all the massive layoffs and awful controversies at Blizzard.

In my own personal very subjective opinion, this last year has been the worst overwatch has ever been for me and has led to me not averaging one game per 2 months and usually leaving that game midway through after being reminded why I stopped playing. Tank still sucks to play, many people have been very vocal about tank being unfun to play, and it's been over a year and a half with almost no meaningful improvements to make the tank role more fun to play. For me the only reason to play overwatch is tank, and given how long it's been of the tank role feeling miserable with no meaningful fixes to the state of tank I've given up hope for this game. I used to love this game, and I still want it to be good but every time I play, it's just a miserable experience.
I would love to see them bring back old battle pass items in the shop (or just unlock them). I still kick myself all the time thinking about the game or two I could've played to get Kiriko's "I run with blades all the time" voice line in season 1 battle pass.
Maaaaan I’m new to OW (little over 24hrs as of rn) do you know how pissed I get every time I open the heroes menu to be reminded that black metal Junker Queen just doesn’t exist for me because I didn’t play back then. I main JQ and I think black metal is her best skin by far but I’ll literally never get to use it because I started playing last month. So I agree. Bring back old battlepass skins for fucks sake Blizzard ☠️
Another thing I hope they’ll feature in 6v6 is choosing one of each tank. Meaning that if you choose a tank with a barrier, the other cant and would have to pick Mauga, JQ, Ball, etc. I feel like that would be a neat way to stop double barrier from sneaking back in
I mean the orisa changes at the beginning of the first beta killed double shield on the spot. No one was really complaining about rein sig and no one would be complaining about ram/rein or ram/sig atleast not based on their shields alone so I reckon a restriction like this isn't needed with the measures they've already taken to hammer down on shields.
One big thing i hope they do different this time is that drives thing for the namecards, they look great and extra flair is always good but 2 days is just not enough for casuals, if you were to forget it was that weekend and miss saturday you now have a day (more like a few hours more likely) to finish everything. especially when some people (including me) had broken pages that just wouldnt track and after 1 loss and 6 wins i was still at 0😔, i was very bummed because the drive was something i really hoped would make me want to grind again but i just missed most of it and got nothing for doing exactly what they said to.
I played tank back in OW1 and the burden of shouldering an entire team with one dedicated healer on OW2 really felt like a boatload. Bringing in a second tank once again would be great, and coming back to OW2 and seeing all the progress being made since the last time I played is a joy. For once, I actually tolerate Sombra.
Glad you did this video :) makes me feel good about playing a game I like! I think the group spawn feature was a great concept and help ALOT in the medal ranks!
I think it’s crazy you saying they are responding quick when there is a bug that has been now for 1 and a half week. It is a golden gum bug and the support has gotten bombed with it and they still don’t fix this small bug
7:20 I dont know what you smoked, but the Season 9 Health changes are the worst the game has ever seen Many Heroes like Genji, Hanzo, Mei, Junk, etc. lost their Identity and cant fullfill their role while Hitscans dominated. Not to mention the Hitbox changes just making the game less skillful which makes it less rewarding to hit good shots. I think youre way to biased here in seeing OW suceed, trust me i know ive been playing for 8 Years aswell, but aside from 5v5, this was one of the worst changes ever.
i wish my role (DPS) got a player removed and I got giga buffed, now in SoloQ tanks literally just press W on me and im dead. 5v5 is fine for professional play but horrendous for soloq,
Maybe pre season 9 when everything wasnt giga buffed and created artificial difficulty by forcing everyone to place a rank lower than where they were last season.
I'd say my personal biggest issues with the game is how the mythics have gradually decreased in customization, that the lore has been been increasingly neglected, and that we haven't had anything to get excited for each season except new skins.
I fucking hope so, them fucking around with Health Breakpoints was so stupid, a few years ago a lead hero designer said one thing they never want to do is change the General HP Pool. Well, 2 years into 5v5 we have to deal with that bs
@@heiko2255they nerfed a lot hero’s health to 225 and increased half the rosters damage so they basically reverted the breakpoints but now with giant projectiles
@@Colgan144 They really didnt, genji still cant kill a target with only 2 slashes (he does 110 with 1), Hanzo got his oneshot back but only while fully charging which feels awful and only on 250HP Targets. Mei was good because she could duel tracer if she oneshot headshots her (which imo was deserved if she got that kill) And theres lots of other inconsistent things like that, it was never needed and just made the game worse.
@@heiko2255okay so with stuff like Genji he benifits from the heal reduction since if someone got heals in the 2 slash timeframe it needs 3 slashes. Which was 95% of the time let’s be real. Also, are no other players shooting at people he’s attacking? Is it fun for 5 people to get two slashed? Idk the mindset your having is like if it was dark and could see 5 feet in front of you so everything behind that MUST be safe. How does everything else beyond that actually come into play. If Genji could 2 slash then everything else MUST be good for the game.
I was one of those people that was super hyped for PvE and story modes; the fact that they aren't just dead but that Blizz did everything in their power to actively kill them also killed my enjoyment in the game overall. Sure, I still enjoyed settling in to a game or two with friends, but even that's become rarer these days. The storytelling was always one of the biggest draws of the game - if they're not gonna care about what made their game different from all the others competing for my time, why should I?
As much as I love playing the characters in Overwatch, I really just wanted PvE. PvP has never been my cup of tea. Don't think I'll come back to this game, especially after seeing Deadlock and Marvel Rivals.
This new ranked system got me a little confused. This season I started playing ranked open q with 2 friends just for fun, 1 of them was playing tank with me and the other was playing support. I ended up with the support getting to masters 5 in 15 games while me and the tank being plat 1 by that moment, even though we were playing together and getting the best kda possible.
When every year has been total dogshit being slightly away from the shit is technically the best it's ever been. I never said it can't be better just that we should acknowledge its getting better for the first time ever.
I will take this as a chance to review the devs instead of the game. The devs are amazing and I don't think they hear that nearly enough. Thank you for all your hard work to make this game better, for listening to the community, and for working hard to regain player trust so that the community can begin to heal from the past.
I hate two things in mm right now. First one - queue times. It's not fun to be in diamond and search game for 15 min average. The second - private profiles. It's very painful to be rolled, see "reversal" after loss and not understand why it is
Your point that if Overwatch made a tv show for the game would boost player count is totally correct. Not only would it be cool to see, and the least they could do after pve’s downfall, but that would revive the game if done correctly. Edgerunners made me buy the game and DLC for cyberpunk, and I don’t like DLC’s because usually they’re planned!
As long the game doesn't reward the players with enough currency to at least buy 1 of the 20 shop skins they release each season this game will forever be a shadow of its former self
Nice to see an optimistic / fair roundup. People are way too negative about the state of the game (ahem, certain streamers and 'personalities' make their money by being negative nancies to the point where it's a grift). I think the state of the game is generally good, but tanking is still unpopular, counter-picking is way too effective (esp. as tank on attack) and supports are over-kitted.
Finally someone who doesnt shit talk the game just because its trendy to do so and actually lists strenghts and weaknesses of the game. I play from beta and i can say that OW is in one of its best states its ever been. The dev team are miles better than jeff kaplan was at the time.
Sure buddy and I'm sir Albert Einstein lol this games balance is a joke 🤣 it's why 6v6 will be the only meanful thing to come to the game I'm getting into val right now and it's way more fun then overshit 2 oh my bad overshit .2

For us the 5v5 and game balance wasnt the problem. We were sometimes enough people on discord to make our own private 6v6 in OW1 and then the OW2 scam and lies happend and we all just kinda split up into other games. Now the nearest I get to the game, is watching streamers once in a while.
They did not remove a tank for que times. They did it for gameplay and hardware performance reasons. Aaron and others confirmed this this many times, most notablly on the group up podcast. Add back the other tank and I will play this game again.
can I just say that ranked feels worse. like winning and losing is up down 20%, streaks mean nothing, but the worst thing of all by far is the ranked resets. Like in lower ranks I am placed with ppl who don't deserve teh rank higher or lower and it's hell
the soul feels sucked out of overwatch. i don't know if anybody i know will ever view this game positively anymore even if they bring back 6v6. it's like when they left brig too strong and goats meta in for too long and people quit in mass. none of my friends that played during that time gave even overwatch 1 a chance again years later. it will be very similar for this. overwatch 2 is a cashgrab and it's hard to forget that, especially because they haven't done that much to make cosmetics anywhere near as achievable as overwatch 1. not even to mention the new frequent bad hero design. juno was unexpectedly good, that part is very cool. if overwatch 2 never had overwatch 1 i'm sure it'd just feel like your average cashgrab free to play game, but because they had overwatch 1 and their monetization was so consumer friendly. it is very hard to be happy with this game, gameplay aside.
agreed except Juno part. AND for the future defence - yes, she seems like THE best NEW hero from ow2 (ramm, queen and soj is ow1 heroes and nothing will make me thing otherwise) but as another character that's gonna be likely a skin whore - she's just not good
I only have time to play for about 6 hours per week. I look forward to it and enjoy it every time. Maybe it would feel different if I had more time, but I just don’t have enough time to find things to be upset about
The game is overall in a great state, I think personally I'd like to see them look into some areas though. 1. The Arcade has just been straight up abandoned outside of seasonal LTEs. There has been little to no curation, no adding new crops of OW2 maps to deathmatch or CTF, flat tank health nerf in open queue is terrible and should be percentage based for fairness, and overall it feels like there are fairly easy and non-dev intensive ways to maintain the arcade for those who enjoy it that they just have been ignoring. (I have a video on my channel about this if anyone is curious). 2. The workshop is getting buggier by the day and needs more love. I know the devs who maintained it lovingly are gone, but I really don't want this incredibly useful feature to just wither and die. If anything, they should be expanding on it. This community is perfectly primed for user-generated content if only the devs gave better tools for it. A map editor is like, my number one ask for this game. Either something like Halo's Forge or a standalone program like TF2 or CS have. 3. They keep toying with the idea of perks or talents in PvP, bringing the game a bit closer to something like Paladins and I personally think that would be a fantastic move to add more flexibility, depth and balancing levers to the game. It would also ease the necessity of counter-swapping if heroes had a bit more agency in their kits to change up their abilities to deal with different threats. This is how other hero-based games get away with not having a swap mechanic and it's worth looking into. Otherwise, yeah. The game has only been getting better and better.
I came to OW2 almost fresh a month ago. I didn't like OW1 much and now a month ago I watched the Kiriko cinematic which made me give it a chance. I'll be honest, I like it way more than OW1 when it was about 1 year after release. I actually enjoy the game even if I'd like more maps and rework or replacement of flashpoint.
Calling season 9 balance good is just biased and hilarous, you like it probably because you're mainly playing heroes benefit from those changes. At this point, most of the season 9 changes just failed. The 250 health change just messed up half of the heroes. Devs had to eventally lowered some heroes' health to 225 (which is not that much different from the old 200 health break poitns), and buffed some heroes' damage back. The projectile change also benefit a few heroes (mainly hitscans) way more than others, making some already niche projectile heroes even more niche. The dps passive is just a garbage design, high fire rate heroes heroes like tracer and soldier disproportionately benefit from it. It also made tanks even worse, causing the queue time issue again during season 9 and 10 (blizzard had to giga buff tanks and change armor just to fix that, which caused many other problems). It clear that the health/projectile changes were just poorly thought out and tested. The only well received season 9 change is probably the universal health regen. The balance of the game was in a much better state back in season 3 - 5.Even Season 6 - 8 was bad only because they added illar/mauga who had too much sustain and buffed a few problematic heroes like bastionand orisa. However, the game was easily fixable just by nerfing sustain and healing. Instead they went the seson 9 path and just left the game in the current state.
Though the games still has its flaws like the tank question, match making and an increase of cheaters, things are looking up slowly. They kinda learned how to cook and the improvement definitely kinda noticable
Pretty good video, but i completely disagree on season 9 take. Increased health pools and giga buffed tanks have destroyed certain heros in the game, dps feels significantly unimpactful if your tank match up isnt favorable in the slightest way. Mercy is borderline unplayable due to the dps passive, and other supports being insanely broken comparatively. I guenuinely feel all roles have more individual impact when theres lower health and no tank passives, so everythings killable and everyone can make their own play. I think 6v6 will achieve that feeling. Keep the global healing passive tho thats good
All i can say is the competitive drive proves in masters/diamond how nobody actually plays the game. Like 20% of people in THOSE lobbies got the name thing...
Someone being positive and actually providing evidence instead of just complaining about recolors over and over is such a breath of fresh air. Very cool review ^^
Yeatle you were cooking until you brought up your thoughts on Season 9. I think that season has caused so much more damage to the game than any other season in Overwatch history.
Bro, sometimes I have 10 to 15 minutes que times for dps still. Bring back 6v6. I don't think one person should have that much power on the outcome of the game. You might as well make it a battle royal at this point. Why even have teammates if you can just do it yourself.
I really liked what you said about the speed at which community feedback effects balancing now. I used to be neutral on 5v5 vs 6v6, but having seen firsthand that they really don't know how to balance 5v5, I've become a pretty strong advocate for the return of two tanks. Many people I've spoken to about it whine about stuff like Goats or generally horrible eras of balancing like double shield as a point against it, and I honestly don't think people give enough credit to just how badly a lack of ANY balancing effected 6v6. During Overwatch 1's lifespand, the dev team seemed very willfully ignorant or accepting of absolutely broken heroes almost as though they couldn't see how they could ever get things wrong (see launch Brig), but nowadays the dev team (for all the shit we give them) is actively engaged with the community. While sometimes they'll put out some ASS patches, its so important to recognise that dogshit patches usually only stick around for a few weeks max, as opposed to a year and a half as they would have previously. In my eyes, the only real argument against 6v6 that holds up to scrutiny is queue times, but I would argue with two tanks making hard counters less of an issue, and the dev team being more proactive with balancing, its not unlikely that tank could become popular enough to counter the lengthened queue times we'd see from 6 players per team.
Let's not forget the sheer number of Off Tanks and DPS-Tanks compared to Main Tanks, even if you get a game with 2 DPS players on Tank you won't be at a disadvantage.
@@aaronolson6736 This is actually a very good point, I've seen people whining that two tanks will only result in one tank taking Roadhog and going on dumb flanks and to be honest I do not see the issue. I would rather have one main tank with a flanking Roadhog than one tank who's getting diffed any day. It's also good to analyse "off-tanks" as they are now, trying to fit into a system not made for them, because it's very easy to hypothesise what the meta tank will be based on recent balance patches before the meta even forms. Dva and Winston becoming strong after the armour changes was EXTREMELY easy to predict because they have been turned into main tanks for a 5v5 environment, and their kits are far too versatile to be easily balanced for 5v5 because they can easily accomplish so many jobs with little in the way of hard counters. Fortunately for some, this is actually a meta where Ball is quite good because of rush/dive being strong right now, but people may have noticed how easy it is to tell when Ball is going to be absolutely fucking useless for a season, because his nature as an off-tank first and foremost means that he still doesn't have the capacity to cover teammates who aren't self sufficient. I also think it's worth stating that I absolutely agree with designing the game around giving individuals more agency, OW1 WAS far too teamwork reliant in a game where 99% of players, even at high ranks, aren't truly coordinating. I just think 6v6 can coincide with that increased agency, especially keeping in mind how little hard CC exists in Overwatch 2.
@@epoch7661If my tank is getting diffed I can just go Zen/Ana and force a tank diff in my tanks favor. With 2 tanks that wouldn't be possible because Zen just wouldn't survive with the amount of mobility creep two tanks can just roll you over and Ana would go back to being forced to healbot both tanks with no time to make any proactive plays.
@@WindReiter10 Do you know how much would have to be rolled back or changed? It's not just slapping another tank in the mix, obviously, but the idea would be for heroes like Zen to be playable even into two dive tanks. It might be tricky, but you'd walk back things like knock back reduction, lower sleep dart cooldown, etc, and health numbers would once again be brought down. Zen has been perfectly playable for many OW1 metas, and even current Zen relies heavily on peel from others to survive, I think you may be overestimating the difference in oppressiveness between current dive and a hypothetical two tank dive given all the changes that would need to be made for two tanks to return anyway.
Regarding the 6v6. Why do players want individual impact? I don't want impact as a support main, I just want to win my fucking game. And I feel like balancing it off with 2 tanks so that the tank is not one of the, if not THE, most important player in your team is a great idea. Also 2 tanks would probably help with the counter swapping issue that the game currently has. Yes I know, good players can still play against counter swap but if a whole team plays anti dva (zarya, mei, sym, brig) then you sometimes need to swap purely because of the hard countes. I feel like this would change if teams had 2 tanks, as in my opinion this was never such a big deal in overwatch 1.
so true! plus there's no possible way that torb could have known dva exists or was able to do that, nor could they have waited a couple seconds instead of spamming their ult instantly, and to top it all off dva and her matrix are both completely invisible so even if the torb was paying attention they'd simply have no way of knowing their ult was going to be negated. it's really unfair when you think about it.
Recipe for success: dust off the PvE scripts, hire the Vox Machina writers, send it over to the Arcane animators and boom, legendary TV series. Next step: stop firing OW staff and remove the pointless "2" from the title. No one says "Overwatch 2" anyways. It is always "I'm gonna play Overwatch"
I'm still going to be salty about no LFGs. It's 10x harder now to find/build teams. I get discords. But adding people is lame. Since you probably won't play with most people again. Or if you add a troll on accident..... BRING BACK LFGs!
I gave it over a year of a chance after OW2 came out for them to turn it around, and it sounds like they still haven’t. I’m not going back until they stop doing free to play. That stuff ruins games. The entire industry.
There's a couple things I think the devs should work on, the amount of cheating in overwatch ranked lobbies is insane not only is it bad on PC but it's gotten worse than ever for console as well. I understand why they do the whole ban wave stuff, but I really wish they would just ban on detection. I get it sucks that the cheat devs will learn where their programs were found out but so many people are having their games ruined by cheaters. Also I really hope they don't give Sombra a slight nerf to the invis by letting her stay invis for over a minute but time will only tell and 6v6 will hopefully make me want to play tank again

@@yeatle Geez I wonder why .
What? The grapple changes were pretty dope

@@jakemertens8828 I appreciate the analysis. Still, one can dream 🙃
Fact: Overwatch has it's problems but it's a SOLID AF game. Not as nearly as bad as some players and haters paint it out to be.

@@yeatleits not a magic pill though, its more a change of pace
OW1 = chess
OW2 = checkers
OW1 has significantly more depth.
Incoming Flats and Samito reactions 😂
I still can’t get over how badly ball was shafted in ow2. It’s so sad. I hate playing ball in 5v5.

If you cut top 500 to top 100, then about 30-40 people will have all of the top 100 spots.
I have a solution to that:
Force activity to maintain top 500 (or 100 in this case)
You can't camp many slots if you HAVE to play often to maintain a slots, because playing also means going up and down
@@violet9214 I agree, but they tried that years ago in og ow, and people cried and used the excuse of "I don't have time to play all the time".
Top 250..? Maybe

Which is very sad, but also very reasonable imo
And after 3 months, alongside visibile scoreboards i think the main reason for this toxicity is that blizzard punishes you a lot more for leaving QP games.

@@yeatle LOL
i pretty much agree with yeatle. the game is fun and IMO it's been fun basically the whole time. the only time i really stop playing OW is when i have a backlog of singleplayer games that suck up all my time instead. the worst period of OW for me was the year before they added role lock where every match was a standoff on who would be forced to play tank or support so the rest of the team can have fun.
i never cared about pve or about cosmetics at all, so it's been pretty much smooth sailing. i do genuinely miss playing off tank zarya and off tank dva, but support got more fun so i play that instead. i think most of the people clamoring about 6v6 need to learn the idiom "you can't go home again". 6v6 isn't a panacea, it solves some problems and creates others, but no matter what, you will never get back the 'magic' you believe was lost when the game went to 5v5. it's impossible. you are not the same person and it is not the same game.
Nice a positive video. I'll wait for 6v6 to hop back on. Hopefully next season.
I might be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they said the 6v6 playtest won't be until season 15 or 16. there's a lot of stuff they need to change to get 6v6 going, namely optimization on the new engine (adding 2 extra heroes' bullshit is hard for the wee little switch)
@@mattcampea2482 Oof, well guess I am waiting for a while then.
i recommend trying the soft role lock thing they're gonna try next season (?). dk for sure if they're doing it next season but it seems like it'd be fun for some games to be 2-1-2 or 2-2-1
Everyone keep thinking they will fix every single hero with the patch note but making the game 100% balance is litteraly impossible
fr and once they do reach the "perfect balance" people going to start getting pissed that theres no more balance patches

What a great video! Completely slipped my mind that this was probably the best season of Overwatch I've played in awhile.
5v5 and raid boss tanks ruined Overwatch.
Yea idc I love playing this game and nothing's changing that
im still alive
the balance... no comment
Still no torb cinematic
I think it’s crazy you saying they are responding quick when there is a bug that has been now for 1 and a half week. It is a golden gum bug and the support has gotten bombed with it and they still don’t fix this small bug
7:20 I dont know what you smoked, but the Season 9 Health changes are the worst the game has ever seen
Many Heroes like Genji, Hanzo, Mei, Junk, etc. lost their Identity and cant fullfill their role while Hitscans dominated. Not to mention the Hitbox changes just making the game less skillful which makes it less rewarding to hit good shots.
I think youre way to biased here in seeing OW suceed, trust me i know ive been playing for 8 Years aswell, but aside from 5v5, this was one of the worst changes ever.
stopped grinding comp once doom became a tank
i wish my role (DPS) got a player removed and I got giga buffed, now in SoloQ tanks literally just press W on me and im dead. 5v5 is fine for professional play but horrendous for soloq,
We as a community should just get together to file a lawsuit cause the '2' didn't deliver what was promised.
Maybe pre season 9 when everything wasnt giga buffed and created artificial difficulty by forcing everyone to place a rank lower than where they were last season.
I'd say my personal biggest issues with the game is how the mythics have gradually decreased in customization, that the lore has been been increasingly neglected, and that we haven't had anything to get excited for each season except new skins.
my biggest gripe is the inconsistency in map details. specifically, the tops of skinny walls cant be walked on any new map
Calling the season 9 patch the best in ow history is borderline criminal Yeatle😂, i think they will revert everything eventually
I fucking hope so, them fucking around with Health Breakpoints was so stupid, a few years ago a lead hero designer said one thing they never want to do is change the General HP Pool.
Well, 2 years into 5v5 we have to deal with that bs
Fr, idk wtf bro is smoking by saying that.
S9 ruined the game.

Mei was good because she could duel tracer if she oneshot headshots her (which imo was deserved if she got that kill)
And theres lots of other inconsistent things like that, it was never needed and just made the game worse.

I feel like your magic pill take to 6v6 just ain’t it, it’s more of a change of pace that people look forward to.
As a hitscan only player the bulled size changes removed almost all the fun from the game unfortunately
11:25 you only get the t500 title if you end the season in the leaderboards so it's not really a participation trophy.
I don't watch many TV shows but I would watch an Overwatch TV show. Those cinematics are fire.

One of the most level headed streamers and content creators for Overwatch! Great work, Yeatle. Always a pleasure to hear your take on the game
I heard Driftveil city. Also if they gave the battle pass out for free the quality of it would just drop and more things would end up in the shop.

I only have time to play for about 6 hours per week. I look forward to it and enjoy it every time. Maybe it would feel different if I had more time, but I just don’t have enough time to find things to be upset about
Waiting 30 minutes for a ranked with a duo, only to get into a game full with inting bots or russians. Yeah good game.
great review.
I love your perspective and that its constructive critisizm instead of senseless whining
Bring back October 2020 6V6 with proper balance and in game incentives🫡🤣
they could also make hitboxes less absurd... Great content Yeatle !!!
Loved the vid, did the stuff. Enjoy the grind everyone
I think that season has caused so much more damage to the game than any other season in Overwatch history.
once you play 6v6, you realize that it very much is the magic pill we think it is, because it undoes 5v5
You do know that the old dev team isn't there anymore? It's a brand new team that are only a few years old. Give them time to cook
6:13 imagine spending your time to get reward it by using your ult, but theres a hero that can negate that by just pressing right click
so true! plus there's no possible way that torb could have known dva exists or was able to do that, nor could they have waited a couple seconds instead of spamming their ult instantly, and to top it all off dva and her matrix are both completely invisible so even if the torb was paying attention they'd simply have no way of knowing their ult was going to be negated. it's really unfair when you think about it.
BRING BACK LFGs!
nice to see some positivity. A lot of people like to diss on overwatch like it is the same game as when it launched
I gave it over a year of a chance after OW2 came out for them to turn it around, and it sounds like they still haven’t. I’m not going back until they stop doing free to play. That stuff ruins games. The entire industry.
Amazing Video Ballboy
There's a couple things I think the devs should work on, the amount of cheating in overwatch ranked lobbies is insane not only is it bad on PC but it's gotten worse than ever for console as well. I understand why they do the whole ban wave stuff, but I really wish they would just ban on detection. I get it sucks that the cheat devs will learn where their programs were found out but so many people are having their games ruined by cheaters.
Also I really hope they don't give Sombra a slight nerf to the invis by letting her stay invis for over a minute but time will only tell and 6v6 will hopefully make me want to play tank again
