Started using cakewalk when I was kid. it was called guitar tracks pro. There are old versions I wish I had. Been a bumpy ride. Planning to switch to pro tools when I'm caught up on my work.

I have cubase 13 but I still prefer mixing my songs in cakewalk by BandLab because of the easiest workflow that get things done faster What a great daw 🎉

Sadly you might be correct. This is the reason alot of people left ProTool due to the subcription base model alot of people dont like it. They do offer some really good feature from Bandlab but thats not what people want. Thanks for the comment.

I purchased the Bandlab membership on black Friday sale, $70 for the year. If they don't go with a one time license, I'm hoping they'll offer to re-up me for the same $70. That wouldn't be a bad deal. Sonar has been working fine for me, but still keeping Cakewalk by Bandlab if I'll need to go back.
I still use Sonar Platinum. There is nothing new here and it just has a new shotty coat of paint. Sonar was once the most innovative DAW, and everyone got lazy once they were out of the game. Furthermore, they still offer the same old VSTs that are like 15 years old now untouched. Studio instruments are from 2007. I think it’s a sunk cost fallacy where they have an obsolete product they own, so they want to ship with their crummy subscription service.

Like the new export features.. being able to save projects on the cloud with Bandlab... I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think they'll release a Perpetual License for Sonar, especially with other DAWs going the subscription route. I just wish they would stop playing coy with their plan and just commit by saying "no perpetual licenses" so that we can decide what we want to do. 😐
Other DAWs going sub? Not the popular ones. They'd have too much to lose. Not every DAW is Pro Tools the industry standard which is a necessary evil in the business.
I have it but it seems Sonar is no longer compatible with ASIO so I can't track out of my mixer into it beyond the first 8 inputs. My line inputs start at channel 17 doe. Beyond that, it's cool.. I like the gui and all of my old sessions load up perfectly.

Notifications suck on this app. I haven't really dug into it because of the asio issue; I have to figure out if I can change what inputs WDM sees . I main Studio One now which my mixer is really designed for : Studiolive 32. However the new look is amazing.
@@XELOhh1 i think it's highly unlikely that there won't be a perpetual version of sonar. bandlab know that they have to be very careful with what they choose to do with the new version of sonar. to not offer a perpetual version of sonar would be the kiss of death for the brand. all loyal users like myself and many others of sonar and cakewalk would end up sadly walking away from bandlab's sonar. plus bandlab also need to take into consideration that other daws like cubase, studio one, abelton, digital performer, fruity loops are not using the subscription model

Long time Cakewalk user (25+ yrs) who's started shopping to around for my next DAW cuz BandLab/Cakewalk has been a such a sh*t show on this. I mean, is it chaos over there or what? I'll always be grateful that they revived Cakewalk after it went belly up years ago, but I'm too suspicious of them now. Things are definitely different for the worse. I'm moving on.

A lot of saas companies that offer perpetual licences or "one time price", "lifetime deal" etc end up selling a lot of them and just shutting down. Leaving their customers with software that will eventually be unusable. Even Distro Kid is subscription based. That's why they can innovate and stay in business.
I don't see it that way there are only a hand full of DAWs that have subscriptions ... The biggest one is ProTools and Studio One is the other ... All the other DAWs that people use like Ableton, FL Studio, Reaper, Cubase, Traction Waveform and Logic all perpetual license and they are still in business so it just matters what you are looking for I guess .. thanks for the comment...😀🙏🏾
I have been using Cakewalk for years and before that, Sonar as it was before Gibson all but destroyed it. Now, every time I open a new or existing project, someshing goes to crap. A synth doesn't work properly or doesn't work at all. Some VST3 from people like IK Multi or Native instruments glitches and I have to spend hours using the NON creative side of my brain, finding and fixing the problem. This is Band Labs version...whatever the *** that is. Congrats on the new Sonar. Now that it's out and Band Labs wants money for it, I'm going to Cubase. It's actually supported by all third party software designers thus no more taking a crap on my projects and time. This, in my pissed off opinion...in NOT an improvement.
@@Desmond-ul7cw sorry to hear that you haven't had a good experience with Cakewalk I do understand the frustration with the plugins and crashing it happens... I had many issues with Cakewalk pulling up sample tank vst3 when I created 16 channels it would crash Cakewalk every time I hope they fixed that in the new Sonar but we shall see... Let me know how Cubase goes I think it has a little learning curve and feels a little glitchy at times but I have never used the pro version only the lower versions due to the 400+ price tag then you have to pay to update when they decide to make a never version it's just to much for me.. 😂 good luck
I have been a fan of Cakewalk since 1989. Fast forward 35yrs later, I'm still supporting this product despite having Pro Tools, Luna and Presonus. Must be a psychological thing.😄 I purchased the new Sonar version March of this year to try it out; the jury is still out. If no perpetual license is offered I will not renew.

I read the forums all the time and have been monitoring the updates that they have put out none talk about the vocal sync being updated or fixed... And they have not released the old paid for FX yet... What they have done is not enough to keep people in my opinion the sampler that they added is not good enough to even compete with Komplete kontrol free sampler.. still no drum machine.. no tuner ... No new instruments... No new FX... Everything thing they have added has already been in SONAR Platinum before so what are you really getting 🤔... They are still missing the really good stuff like rapture and dimension pro.. they even got rid of TTS1 ... Do you currently have the bandlab subscription and use Cakewalk Sonar? Do you use vocal sync? Does it work correctly for you and no one else? I understand people love Cakewalk I love it to that's why I want it to be better but if you don't listen to your customers you will fail and right now I believe they are failing the past and future customers... But that's just my 2 cents... 😀🙏🏾

Im on Cakewalk by Bandlab but due to family medical issues I haven't had anytime to get in the lab and get it back to what my Sonar was. I really need plug ins! I've been using sonar my whole life, but I'm already prepping to make the switch to Luna. Way better hardware and software. They have native versions of almost everything now. Oh, and you can actually own it, which is the best part🎉

Fl studio is what ima stick to. No subscription. And as for cakewalk by BandLab I will stick to that :) I wish the midi and matrix mode I posted in the forums upgrade could have been added on cakewalk by BandLab 😢

I don't see a perpetual license ever happening. With UAD Luna releasing their multi-out feature for virtual instruments I'm starting the switch now.
