I have no issues with the DAW being paid for but let people know what it will cost.. it's been a year of stringing people along.. if they want it to be subscription then just say that it's ok for it to only be subscription but they will loose some of their loyalist due to they refuse to do subscriptions... There are other DAWs out there that will do the job just as good if not better than Cakewalk ... I'm proud of the work I put in and all the people I helped use this amazing DAW.. this is not the first roller coaster that they have put there users through right now they are just throwing salt on the wound in my opinion... Excellent video,thanks. We loved Cakewalk but bailed during the Gibson/Bandlab thingy and switched to Studio One paired w ACID/Samplitude for loops n beats. 3 DAW's vs 1 Cakewalk,basically--

Cakewalk does things a certain way .. you can make Reaper close to Cakewalk but you have to set it up it's not like you open it and your ready a lot of things need to be set up .. Cubase is kinda close but the short cuts and work flow are really different... But just to try DAWs to see how they flow I would say Traction Waveform and Reaper... I have videos showing how to get Reaper to function like Cakewalk and also have a configuration file that you can download to get you setup... Hope this helps..😀🙏🏾
I was one of the very first to get Cakewalk 6.0 I wound up having to use SONAR, which I don't like, because it's a battle to get anything done, I get the impression they were more concerned with looks, than anything else.
I paid for the subscription for a month to check it out. Sonar is Cbb with added features. It worked just fine. But I totally agree with you about this year's long wait. A year ago, Cakewalk said Sonar was coming soon. Soon? I've been saying that this wait is like being spaghetti-fied into a black hole, just getting strung along. I don't know if they miscalculated how long it would take or they ran into unforeseen issues or what. But as far as the pricing, you gotta feel like they know what it will be. If it's a one time license, I'd say $199-$399, with maybe a studio and producer options like the old Cakewalk used to have. But I'm with you, I'm not paying for a subscription. I did it just for a month because I was curious. If it is a subscription, I'll use Cbb until they take it away and then decide where to go next. Thanks for keeping us up to date and being a voice for all of us in the community.

I didn't find the Cakewalk configuration as useful as I had hoped. 😞 I miss the Smart tool/ I guess that I rely on the mouse too much and not really a Key Command guy.
@@mlwsf yea it's hard to get it perfect... Every DAW has there own thing that attract people to it so I get it... Reaper increased my work flow from all the tweaks I made... there are many mouse modifiers that you can change in Reaper to give you that smart tool kinda feel but it won't be the exact same... You're doing Great Brother, thanks, and about Cakewalk Sonar, I don't understand what they're doing ,though I love some new features that they add now but it's yet to stable ,tbis is one of the reason Am holding on to My Tutorial Videos, I want to take time to see something better, I Am still expecting them to add most of old plugins, and I expected it to have been more stable at ones, somethings happened ,during the current project Am working on, I suddenly discovered strange signal in some of My wave clips wich some times a pitched note like cheap monk and that was another project clip sounding in another one and tbis happened several times . 2. When You drag and drop into FX Chain Rack, that which We used to create along with Pro Channel EQ and Console Emulation, it qould go into FX Send instead (Side Chain). But it manages Processor well, meaning it does not consume PC strength like CBB ,I love it for that, another thing is its better Audio Engine, it sounds more cleaner, overall I would love Sonar to be far and fast improve to take back its position.
I just installed cakewalk by bandlab 2 days ago, and I really like it. As long as I can continue to use CBB after sonar releases, I'm fine with it. I don't really care about these new ai features. Coming from FL mobile, CBB is kinda of an upgrade. Its kinda funny how FL mobile has a sampler and CBB DOESN'T😅 I'm still getting used to CBB, and I'm enjoying it.

So I’ve been using the same Platinum version I had back in 2017, LOL. Best overall DAW, imo. I’ve used Cubase and Logic Pro. Sonar still better for me.

Yeah. It was history thing going back to Windows 95. The competition on Mac was too strang with Logic Pro Audio and Cubase. Cakewalk saw a market with PC. In all honesty it was all shit from software and hardware in 1997 on a PC.

I certainly don’t think former Cakewalk users need to make a move that costly. Had I have stayed with Windows, I’d be using Reaper too. But I can make a strong case for Studio One as well.

The latest cakewalk is still asking you to upgrade. If I upgrade it will I have to pay for the next version. I'm confused because everyone keeps saying this is the last upgrade and then they offer another one and I'm not sure whether I should do it in case I lose my work.
@@wiltaylor it's an update for the activation alot of people have been complaining about the activation issues with CBB so they supposedly fixed it and a couple of other bug fixes... They also added a Sonar add to the mix from what I have heard I'm about to update mine in a minute... It should be ok to download

@@BopsStudios Reaper is 60 for a license and I did purchase that... I like Cakewalk to record vocals I think it's one of the best I have used when it comes to just recording... I didn't learn until later on that you can make beats and do production in the DAW ... And it was free and was a lot smoother and better looking than Reaper until I found out about themes in Reaper I think that changed everything for me then found out that I can make Reaper work how I want it to work.. it was game over...😂

Cakewalks downfall was not going Mac/Windows. Best DAW on the market possibly forerunner definitely first to go 64bit. First to drag and drop.
