Hey Mike, Hows things going with you. Have you given up on this channel as not much going on of late. Great content on your other channel but kind of get the impression Cakewalk is over for you...I have not used the trial version of Sonar but seen some pricing for Sonar Artist etc...not sure if there's any point buying it when Cakewalk is free and unlimited anyway.....btw i have a lot of great plugins from IK etc, so not a big selling point with whats included in Artist. Your thoughts/views always greatly appreciated. Thanks.
As always - clear, concise and easy to understand tutorial. Thanks Mike! I've never used a Sampler before, but will give XSampler a try - now that you've explained it!
Hi, Mike! I hope your well. "Cakewalk 2024" is running great! There have been 2 new updates. The most recent came today (August 14, 2024) and has some major updates for multi-core CPU with 8+ threads that help with low-latency. Here is some info: August 14, 2024 2024.08 New in build 30.08.0.019 This release includes major audio engine optimizations with dramatic improvement to low latency and multi-core CPU performance across the board, allowing you to now run hundreds of instances of synths and plugins at low latency. It also includes several new features like Plugin Oversampling, improvements to Plugin LoadBalancing, new PDC Override modes, Fly-out dynamic tooltips to check CPU load for tracks, buses, FX Racks, plugins and instruments, new Bypass synth with auto archive functionality in the synth rack, External Insert improvements, UI/Theming improvements and more. Additionally, the following resources have been updated: Updated French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese localization. Updated online and local help (Note: old screenshots will be continually updated).
Hi Mike, love your clear and concise videos. I am still waiting to find out how much sonar will cost as compared to $60 Reaper. any news on how much we will be looking at for Sonar.
Hi Mike, it appears that CW Sonar is only available with BL membership - which includes distribution in the membership fee. Will you be using it or continue with Distrokid? Might be worth a video to compare!
I really enjoyed all the great cakewalk content on your channel over the last couple of years.... but cakewalk turning into a subscription model is really the wrong direction. I guess it works for some, but not being able to buy it outright means we own nothing.
I hesitate to ask this as I can only how busy you are. I have been using cakewalk since pro audio 9. Last week for no reason that I can determine my spacebar stopped activating playback. It will not even play from the play icon in the control panel. Also I cannot record anything as the red record button only flashes but does not stay active. It is not hardware as I also have Studio One and everything works there perfectly. I have been working with Lois at Bandlab. She had me uninstall and reinstall...It solved the problem for 1 day, then back to useless. Any wisdom you have would be valued.
@@subramaniamchandrasekar1397 Thank you for taking the time to respond. No , in my shortcuts the spacebar and record buttons are permanent and cannot be changed, even if I wanted to.
Are you using wireless keyboard? Did you try with a wired keyboard? Also the space bar won't be active if it not in focus to active DAW window.. Regards.
@@subramaniamchandrasekar1397 Yes, I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse, but I substituted a wired version of each, and still no change. The support person at Bandlab suggested I remove my Evo 16 audio interface and then plug it back in. That cleared the problem for about 2 hours, then back to the same problem. I substituted a different interface, a Presonus Studiolive Series 3. Cakewalk sees the new interface but will still not play. BTW, thank you so much for trying to help. I may have to abandon Cakewalk altogether and go with Studio One, as I have clients waiting.
Is it correct that this is now subscription only and also released? If so i suppose its time for me and probably almost all of the user base to move on to other daws... Unfortunately.
Apparently the developers say it will be available in the future without requiring membership subscription, that's just the first option to go live. Hoping for an announcement soon - it would be nice to know definite details!
This sampler is so beyond basic that it isn't even worth putting in the package. I would just use the samples directly in the arranger. I'm kinda shocked they put this in the DAW package. This think barely merits existence...
XSampler is wrong name, Sampler: simple and clean. Cakewalk has to be smart because there are many daws on the market and all good. The first time it must bring the functions that are found in most daws: drag and drop, audio to midi, ara tools for audio, chord pads for a quick idea, control rooms for headphones mix, i could write a novel with lacks just to catch up with rest of the daws. Good luck with your work !
More drag and drop options in Sonar than in Cakewalk - in fact I can't think of many actions that you can't do by drag and drop from the browser. Can't you create a 'control room' stereo bus and include a send on each track? (I've done this in the past to compare alternative mix bus processing chains).
Brilliant Mike…keep up the great work. Cheers Marty from Melbourne 🇦🇺
your very good
i learned how to make music in cakewalk sonar years ago. i love that they are back. definitely going to get this.
Great stuff Mike. Yes, please follow up with how we go about using seaprate instruments

Yes I would be interested in a video that shows how to load multiple samples.

Is there a bpm detector for samples I've taken from eg. an old recording?
I've always had to use a 3rd party sampler with cakewalk, or the session drummer. It will be nice to have a dedicated sampler in cakewalk
What Distrokid has bought Cakewalk from BandLab?
awesome vid as always mike! would love to know more about x-sampler and seaparate instruments!
Thanks Mike! This is great news!
When are they releasing this.. losing hope
but how do i use the sample as a track so that i can start working with it??
Hi Mike, love your clear and concise videos. I am still waiting to find out how much sonar will cost as compared to $60 Reaper. any news on how much we will be looking at for Sonar.
It is similar to the Loop Constructor, but with more options. I hope they recover the Beatscape (and other plugins, of course).
I could never figure out Loop Constructor

Is it different from Cakewalk by Bandlab, being called Sonar?
All this is fantastic information but I'd like to know if you can you drag in a clip straight from the arrange page?
You can!
Thank you!
This is an important improvement for me so no need to use abelton or logic for a simpler/sampler! Yay
This doesn't come close to Ableton Simpler. It really should not change anything for you.
So, is the new Sonar released yet?

Unless, you changed some PC keyboard short cuts.... Regards

By latest version I presume you mean the Beta not the free one?

I've been saying that about Cakewalk. If they wanna stay competitive, especially among producers, they gotta step up!!
No split at transients and play by midi? Then this sampler will be totally useless. Regards.
You can play by midi.

It has plenty of drag and drop operations, although not as many as Studio One. Also has audio to MIDI and ARA support
