    You've not had that long have you? My Axminster planer has runs thousands of boards and its still on the original knives.

      I do work with hardwoods. The spare knives came so I thought it was a good opportunity to make a video! Do you have trouble with the chips getting stuck behind the knvives?

    Can I ask... how much oak have you put through this? I'm just about to buy one of these as I need to make floor-boards for new (petite) workshop of 20 sq M from a really cheap supply of live-edge boards I can get from local farmer, and I would assume that's going to be a piece of cake for this machine? And lots more boards to do after that...

      So far I have planed about 2 cubic metres of oak wide and narrow boards.

      @@WallyboisWoodworking Just to update, I bought the Metabo... just run 150 board meters of chestnut planks through it and it's still cutting as well as the first board. So up to date very happy with it.

    hey wallybois. I got a problem here which the manual can't solve. I got solid reason to believe that the voltage relay system has turnt off due to too low voltage provided to the machine. (its a safety measure so the machine doesnt turn on all of a sudden when enough voltage is provided again). It's not the overheat button, I checked. But the machine won't turn on anymore. Do you happen to know the location of this relay and how to turn it back on? because I heard that typical relay click, so I'm pretty sure this is the issue. Also contacted metabo. Really annoying though that the manual doesn't provide any information on the location of this relay...

    • @WallyboisWoodworking

      The relay wil be near the switch

      @@WallyboisWoodworking yeah that was my thinking as well, but as it turns out you simply have to press the on button, that should enable it again.

      I think my carbon brushes are toast, will check. not sure what to check for tho. They should be intact but I wouldn't know what they look like intact. they're 40 bucks pff@@WallyboisWoodworking

      hey wally, so I've had my machine fixed, it turned out to be power supply cable. yet I couldn't measure continuity on one of the cables, as it went straight to the heart of the motor, machine had to be completely deconstructed in order to get fixed. I think what happened is that I've tried to set the machine too high and then turned it on, so watch out for that.@@WallyboisWoodworking

    You have said that you've purchased Chinese knives for 20 Euros. Your link directs to Amazon and one pair of planer knives from them are £ 38.00 which still seems rather expensive. How did you manage to purchase 3 sets for 50 Euros? Thanks.

      might be because my Amazon account is registered to a different country to yours, if that is the case I think Amazon chooses a near match. I'll see if I can find you a better link, what country are you in? Thanks for letting me know

      Some of us would also like to know. I sent my machine to a service and they provided 2 new backing plates and said metabo knows about backing plates bending but there are too few complaints to change design or make stronger plates.

    • @WallyboisWoodworking
      @WallyboisWoodworking  3 роки тому

      That is naughty! I have a few ideas on how to improve them or make some stiffer ones. On my machine it is always one that bends the other is ok, regards
