Omg Paul!!! My mum gave me some Joico K-pak products a few years ago and they’re the absolute best 😭. I just ran out of the conditioning treatment but I still have the heat protecting balm. I haven’t used any other products from their range but you’ve convinced me I need to use them properly and slowly bring back some of my hairs former glory :’)

Oh and if you are wondering she had beautiful natural ginger hair that she dyed copper for her wedding. she's never gotten to dye or change her hair before that so she going ham now and will grow out her hair and never do it again. Kinda clever

Hi, where Alex lives, in Australia, they have pretty much been in lockdown for 2 whole years. So, no professional hairdressers for her!
I think she did an amazing job!
Well, that depends on what state you live in. WA have pretty much never been in lockdown. It's mostly Victoria and NSW that have been in lockdown (Victoria is now the reigning champ for longest lockdown city in the world... yay...I'm a Victorian)
She wasn't locked down last Christmas, but otherwise, yes, exactly.
.... I'm Australiam and I've never been in lock down lol. We have one week where we had to wear masks in public...but I've never stopped working or going out or playing sport or anything? Even during that mask week, even hairdressers were considered an 'essential service' lol...the local surf shop was even open so it wasn't that bad at all.
Alex is based in Sydney and it’s been lockdown central. I’m based in Melbourne, which makes Sydney’s lockdown seem pretty lax comparatively 😂 we had such rigid restrictions at one point where only one person per household could leave the house to go grocery shopping, which was one of four reasons that we could leave the house at the time. We had strict curfews imposed, and to go to work (if you were lucky enough to be in an industry that was still operating whilst the rest of the state effectively went into standstill) we had to carry a work provided, government issued permit with us at all times in case we were stopped by police. Super happy fun times 🙃 meanwhile, I heard that things were lovely in Perth 🤷🏻♀️
Heya just FYI in Australia we've had pretty bad lockdowns and where Alex lives there's been no hairdressing allowed for like 5 months until very recently 😉
Correction.......Melbourne and most of Victoria has been in lockdown.....One state!!! the rest of Australia, has been living in relative normality !

I used your wolf cut video on my hair too and it turned out really amazing. It gave me body and movement without loosing the length. However I would love to see a proper tutorial just to make sure I got my dimensions and contrasting lengths just right. Thanks Paul, I love watching all your tutorials.

She dyed her hair the first time just before COVID… in Japan. But since then she has done a lot to it by herself
Covid didn't do this, strict parenting did 🤣 lol sorry but she's been wanting to do it in forever so she did if you watch her vids she explains why 🧜🏻♀️💖
Alex has super pretty natural red hair, she first changed her hair for her wedding into the beautiful copper.
she went a pink before the pandemic hit for a goal on her channel that was reached i believe while she was in japan.
since the pandemic, Australia has had some of the harshest lockdowns in some states, Alex is in one that had gone months with nothing but food and emergency trips allowed. Alex has gone a bit bonkers and has taken the opportunity to go wild since she's never dyed her hair before.
she's eventually going to bob it and then just let it grow back out in her natural color.

I followed your tutorial just 2 days prior to Pretty Pastel Please’s video came out, and I am ✨IN LOVE✨ with how it turned out!
Also, the “Aussie news” section is because we have been in and out of lockdown due to the “Pandemonium” (code name so your video doesn’t get flagged lol). Hairdressers have been mostly been closed over the past 2 years 😭🤣 we have all been resorting to Box Dye and Online cutting tutorials!

I must say I love how you're saying her hair looks like candy floss when it's straight up fried and looking like straw. You're way too nice ! Btw she knows she murdered her hair, she's having a lot of fun doing anything that crosses her mind and when she'll hav had enough she'll just cut the dead parts and let it grow back !

Ahhh I just did it!!! And my hair was past my butt. I cut over a foot of hair off, and I LOVE it! Because my hair was so very long to begin with it still looks longer than most after cutting it, but the layers are so dramatic.

Alex shouted out your reaction in some of her latest hair dying videos and I had to pause immediately and come watch!
I saw your original video sometime during lockdown and immediately followed it on my hair and loved it! I was never going to do any other style ever again. A few.months later (probably a year) I cut it much shorter and loved that too for a few days. Now it's long enough to do a wolf cut again, yaay! Alex' video came up tonight so I watched that then this reaction video came on and here I am. I'm too tired to cut tonight but I'm pretty sure I'll do it tomorrow.
Paul, I have naturally curly hair. I watched your video carefully over and over, (the one referenced above), listening to your every word about angles and all that, then took the plunge and cut my own hair. I LOVE IT! Best hair cut I've ever had. Thank you!! Wish I could find a professional that would do a better job, but for the life of me, I've yet to have anyone understand what I want!!! Doing it myself works fine . . . I let it dry naturally after I moisturize and sometimes soften the curl with a curling iron. I have a of hair, but it is thin, so layering makes it look a lot fuller. And I love the way this cut frames my face . . . Thanx again.

So I did this cut on myself the other week. I've been cutting my own hair for years and already knew that there was a possibility of it being horrendous as it wasn't professionally cut but k don't mind at all. I can take a hit. So anyway I did it and wasn't overly sure about it. It wasn't rubbish but wasn't perfect. I watched this and realised I hadn't moved my front pony tail forward enough. Decided to try again and wow. My hair is so shaggy and sexy now 😂 I guess my layers just weren't short enough. It's taken so much weight out of my hair as well. My hairdresser is always saying how thick my hair is. It feels so good now. I love your videos, you're so unjudgemental compared to most hair dressers. Thank you, my hair looks amazing 😂

Okay, but mimicking other accents is an Australian defense mechanism. When we are feeling insecure, we mimic. Also, all of Alex's videos (particularly her hair videos) are chaotic and joyful and wonderful.
Everyone does that. When youre watching someone with an accent it just tend to happen.

I'm American and I do it too. Not on purpose but if I am around anyone with an accent it just overcomes me. I am from Indiana but if a person has a southern US accent I really start doing it.

@@mandayork4333 when I traveled overseas, we went to Ireland for only 8 hrs and I picked up the accent within 2 hrs and couldn’t get rid of it for 2 days 😩😂

I’ve been seriously NEEDING to cut my hair for many months, but I’ve been putting it off since I usually just wear it in a messy bun anyway. Last night after watching your video, I decided to do a wolf cut. I normally use Crea-clips to help chop off my hair, but this looks a lot easier. I absolutely had to watch Alex’s video when it was suggested after yours. Now, I’m stuck in a UA-cam wolf cut rabbit hole! I’m glad I saw your reaction video so I know to blow my “candy floss” hair out first. My hair isn’t damaged from any color. It’s just naturally curly and very fine. LOL. ✌🏼💜🛼

Im a professional and just found your tutorial on butterfly cut. I just finish cutting my daughter-in-laws hair today. She had waist length, thick, wavy hair. It’s just so heavy so I cut about 10 inches in length and long layers, including tapering around the face. She just has so much hair and I get lost with my guides when I’m cutting in the long layers. Not doing compound layers. Anyway I wanted to see what you do with long hair.
I love you videos and find them very helpful. I love to cut and feel I can never stop learning.

I follow Alex as well! But I actually came across your video the other day because I decided to cut my own hair like this and wanted a how to and did a search it lol. I've been cutting my own hair for years with that unicorn/1 ponytail one... so I wanted to try this variation. It turned out pretty good. I'm happy with it. Cut off like 5 inches. It was getting to be super long pandemic hair... so its a nice change.

Paul, can you still do the front section into a side parting, like the ponytail haircut, or does it have to be cut to a centre parting?

Your technique is a lot like the technique that was taught to me by a friend in the mid '70s. I like that you use two ponytails rather than one. It seems to add more layers.

She still did a better job than some so-called professionals have done to my long fine/thick wavy hair in the past. I'd rather butcher it myself than pay some clueless twat who only knows how to cut untextured straight hair to fuck it up.

You are right. I have wavy, puffy fine hair, and they don't know what to do with it... I have had horrible hair disasters done by hairdressers... I don't dare to go no any, i just do it myself now
