- I've thought long and hard about this and I finally decided to cut my hair! And I am too impatient to make an appointment with a hairdresser so I did it myself! Sorry Brad Mondo. I've been cutting my own hair for years so I figured how hard can it be to go a lil shorter?
Come with me on my DIY Pixie cut journey. My inspirations are 90's pixie cuts, regency pixie cuts, and Betty Boop. So yeah... I'm all over the place but why not just wing it?
I tried to include lots of close up clips of scissors cutting hair for your haircut viewing pleasure.
As a hairdresser for 41 years I can honestly say that you did an excellent job and it suits you it’s absolutely Boopish and adorable

You don't know how happy it made me to see you NOT freak out the entire time like "omg omg omg what am I doing?" and just actually DO IT like you weren't forced. 😅 Its honestly so cringy when people do that.
It looked so great at the end! My hair has some wave to it (a little less curly than yours) and that definitely helps to hide any mistakes when I cut my hair - its super handy.

This wouldn't work on straight hair it would look a short flat mess,but curly hair is great to work with and looks super.

Seriously though, your hair frames your face beautifully and I love how, even though it's short, the haircut still accentuates the natural wave/curl pattern of your hair. Beautiful, you did a great job

I love how you acted out that you just woke up ready to cut your hair and then show proof that no, you've thought about this, you got supplies, you did research on how to do this well. Love it. I shaved my head completely. Yesterday, I hit the month mark. I have thought about this for 5 years. Covid provided plenty of people doing it and then providing pro/con lists. I donated 18 inches of hair and have super enjoyed the full experience thus far. Your hair looks great!
Ugh I'm going to cry. Its so beautiful!! I have been saying I want a pixie cut for several years now and every time I get my long hair cut I get it cut shorter and shorter each year. This year I decided that it would be the year I get the pixie and on my birthday I asked my best friends sister if she would do it for me (she is a hair stylist and has previously cut my hair which turned out fantastic every time). She agreed and my birthday came and we got together. She asked for pictures of what I wanted so I showed her and my friend and they both started asking me "are you sure". I kept saying yes I am sure but they came back with "but what if you look like a dyke" (super rude..) "what if you have a cowlick" "wouldn't you rather be able to tie it back?" "the grow out process would be long" "what if you don't like how short it is" and so on and so on. So now I'm feeling crappy and agree to just have it cut short with the promise of "if you decide you really want it shorter we can cut it shorter". I get it cut and I am not satisfied so I say "let's go shorter". She cuts it ever so slightly shorter and all the while my friend is telling my how I now have the same hair cut as her 5 year old niece and I should be Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka. I am literally defeated. I decided enough was enough and I don't want to do this anymore and leave my hair as is. I am so unhappy with it and four months later it still looks like crap to me. A few weeks ago I was out camping with this same friend and I was frustrated with how my hair was not cooperating while trying to tie it back and she asked "would you rather have it so you can tie it back or no?" I told her "I don't want to be able to tie it back". She then replies with "oh! you shouldn't have let us convince you to keep it longer! By trying to make sure you were happy with it we ended up making you unhappy." I left it there. I was upset. I remember them telling me "what if you don't have the right face for it" and I just thought to myself "so every guy with short hair in this world has the same face? every girl with short hair has the same face?" If you read all of this, sorry I just needed a quick vent. I going to find someone to give me the pixie cut I want so I can be happy with my hair because I don't trust myself to do this myself. Face shapes, hair types, and cowlick be damned
I hope you go for it! There's all kinds of short styles, I'm sure you'll find one that suits you! I think your feelings are valid too. Your friends arent being very supportive and sound patronizing...
Anyways It's worth trying, that way you'll know if you like it. If you don't, you can take hair supplements so it grows out faster. I'd say go for it!
I cut mine a week ish ago and I’m happy with it, hair grows back :)
Those "best friends" are the worst. It's just hair! Just go for it!

This haircut looks so lovely on you, it really frames your face in such an elegant way 😍😍😍 and women in history did rock short hair sometimes, though mostly due to illness or to sell it (like Jo in Little Women), so I suppose that's a plausible explanation 🤔
There was something so peaceful about this video.. the wind chimes in the background, your pretty eyeliner and pretty clothes, not to mention your beautiful haircut! Watching this before bed and I just wanna say you've helped relax me enough for it :)

Your finished cut is a version I show to stylists when I go for a cut. I've rarely got what I wanted, when I do find someone their price suddenly goes up after each visit then they leave and the search continues. After my last cut a couple days ago with yet another new one I'm so bummed I'm going to cut it myself. This is a great tutorial, thank you! I'm starting with shorter hair but it'll work. Love your new cut, it does look beautiful! you did an amazing job.
I swear there's nothing more refreshing than going from long to short hair. My friends are always asking why Im always cutting my hair. Its just a big relief.
At first I thought what a shame to cut off all those beautiful luscious locks but you looks amazing. I’m booked in at the salon next week and my stylist is insisting that She take me a lot shorter to a pixie. I am unsure and keep thinking yes then no and getting very nervous about it. Well I did it. Well mine is a bit shorter than yours at the back and I got such a rush from the clippers up the back of my neck and was not really expecting them to be used. Denise also took me darker. So far I’m getting good comments

I absolutely love my femhawk, I’ve had very short hair for 5 years now & let me tell you I have NO desire whatsoever to ever grow it out again. Life is juicier, fresher & just more fun with short hair 👑
So true! I used to have very short hair and have given in to people telling me your face is too long for short hair, or please grow it out so we'll have something else to look at on you (someone actually said that! Lol)

That's often how I decide when I want to cut the hair..its like a bolt of lightning & that's when the magic happens. This style looks really good on you. I've found having wavy & curly hair does make it helpful if there's ever a mistake, its easier to hide or it just works. First time seeing any of your videos. Glad I watched it.

Looks so nice, you did it so well. I've been DIY with my hair for years as I couldn't afford to go to the hairdresser's. I bought hair sissors from Poundland. I've often had compliments. It's good to have the confidence of being your own hairdresser.

I cut my own very short pixie. Get yourself a pair of one sided thinning scissors and cut it dry next time. That way you get to see the natural movement in the hair and the scissors give a softer finish. 🥰

Ooh. I think I'll watch this one more time and cut my hair like this. No more professionals for me. I showed them pictures and my hair didn't match them. So I'm doing it myself. I'm good at cutting my bangs. I might cut them a little. We'll see. I used to suck ass at cutting bangs. Lmao. I did a wolf cut and my hair looks like a 60 year old's hairstyle with volume. Preferably I'd shave my head and wear wigs but my mom would get so pissed and wouldn't let me go out. I've never done it before. I don't trust pros so f it. How hard can cutting hair be. If I f up, it'll take ages for my hair to grow. It's hot here. Even though my hair's close to my ears, it's still annoying and still falls on my food. I'll do it tonight and shower tomorrow. 😌
@@lllMellll Hey if you want to, go for it... But I do recommend starting by cutting a small amount of hair and length to get the hang of the form and posture in order to correctly give yourself a haircut. It is NOT easy, if you have no experience cutting the back of your hair it's very difficult to get the texture and length you want. Have your water spray, brush, comb, hair clips, sharp scissors and texturing scissors all at hand and use as many mirrors as you have.
You will make mistakes and learn along the way, but if you remember it's just hair and we decide how important it is to us and the beauty we place on it, have fun with it.
I put on music, took my time and the clean up afterwards is a pain but i loved the result, i hope you will too.
Hey. Ok. I did. I cut little by little. I cut the hair behind my head before. I don't have those but I'll get my own scissors and spray bottle. I used my comb, hair bands and my mom's sharp scissors. They're handy. I cut my bangs evenly. Yeah, I had to clean. It's a big pain. Never mind lol. I wanted a masculine haircut. Looks similar to the two block haircut. See. No professional gave me this hair. My hair isn't bothering me now. I'll shower tomorrow. I also used another mirror and looked at the back of my head. I didn't cut my bangs, it's even. 😂

My fabulous aunt sent me this video when I asked her advice on cutting hair in the back. I'd been cutting my hair for about 12+ years, but I'd been growing my hair out the last three. I'll be cutting off three feet of hair! So, in being rusty, this video helped me out a lot. Plus, I very much enjoyed your humor!
I also learned some new things (diagonal cuts!), so thank you! That will help me out a lot in texturizing any friends' hair when they ask me to cut in layers!

It's totally adorable I did the same thing to my hair and I just love the Pixies and you know it'll always grow out and don't believe people when they say you have an awkward stage because you can always do twisties and things to go ahead and compensate for a full grow out if you want it and it'll look adorable all The way through❤

this is exactly how i want my hair. Curly and black and short. so pretty.
I’m a licensed cosmetologist and I would do almost everything the way you did. Except I would start on the sides same technique but when I get to the back I establish a length on the bottom layer at the neck then do the rest exactly how you did it. Pretty much perfect and I’m proud of you!
