Wow you two!! You put this video together spot on. You two are awesome.
Thanks for help me may my decision on my suspension upgrade I'm going with Legends. Keep the great videos coming.
Before Legend became so popular I did the same with progressive 944 and front end upgrade what a difference great ride comfort for my back and 2up riding. Love the tech vids from Denny's life is good with a good mechanic. 🇺🇸🐾🍻 ride happy
Great video. Very informative and concise. Thanks!
Excellent video. Enjoyed you and Chase horsing around.
Best video I ever seen yet about a product, you broke it down from A to Z.
Just love how Brian toys with you in the beginning. Shows a true shop/customer relationship
What gets me is all the Harley Haters out there spewing stories about how they got treated so badly by a dealership. I've been in many shops, from San Francisco to Miami, and never once felt slighted. I currently live in Alabama, and getting ready to buy my third H-D, because of how customers are treated.
ok, age might have a little to do with it....
But still, never been in any other kind of retail outlet that throw's a mini party for the customer.
Had Legend Axeo front cartridges on my 2015 Limited. Much, much better. I really enjoyed how it woke up the handling and eliminated all the fork dive under braking.
I love my Legend suspension. I have a 2015 SGS and I’m not sure if the stock suspension is the same as the newer bikes but my stock suspension was horrible. I started with the rear REVO-A and wow what a difference in handling. Then I installed the front Axeo and it felt like a different bike. I’ve put well over 5k miles on the new Legend and no issues. I installed it all myself. Do your research and when you feel you’ve researched enough then research some more. Stay safe and enjoy the ride 👊🤙🤘
I installed these on my front and rear last winter. The difference is unreal. Traveling with my son and we hit a bridge that about threw him off his seat on his bike. I noticed it but the legends ate it up so much I wouldn’t have mentioned it if he hadn’t said something. These things eat up the big bumps and you’ll never bottom out the front again. Good stuff!!
We noticed that as well on the very first ride to test them out!!! Huge difference!!! This is so good, thanks for sharing with us!!
Cant wait to get the Legends this winter!!
Cool vid, dying to hear thoughts on first ride.
Love my Legend Revo Arcs and Axeo front end!!!
I keep going back and forth between going Legend or Fox, this got me more towards legend
Liking my legends revo arcs on my dyna so far. Worlds better than stock for sure.
I put the Progressive on my heritage and it work buck at low speeds on fwy. took it off and went with different set up. race tech. recently up graded to road glide. thanks for the info
So? You didn't like the Progressive front end? Race tech better, what did you prefer? Any work on new Scooter or still stock?
I bought the cartridge kit from progressive and it came with both shocks for the front. I haven't noticed a huge handling increase.
I've been reading quite a few reports of the Legends suspension leaking and then problems with contacting the company to get them fixed. Gives me pause to consider these.
Because of you I now have the Revo A. Still playing with the rebound. What rebound number did you two decide rides the best
I have Legends front and rear in my 2000 Deuce...rear is air ride..I dont regret a single penny I spent..you get what you pay for...my softail floats like a Cadillac! Best upgrade ever!
2022fltrxs. The back is the Legendary Revoa. The front has been replaced with a 21-inch wheel. I want to lower it by an inch, and I want a better suspension than now. Could you please recommend.
Do the stock front shocks on the new HD triglide have full cartridge with spring on both sides?
Super Shox in the back and installing Race Tech springs and Gold Valve Emulator in the front.
For anyone looking for the actual best setup:
GPsuspension>Ohlins>Legends>Fox>Racing brothers>Progressive… in that order of best front suspensions.
You forgot suspension technologies
Really appreciate this comment.
Bought my road glide with legend in front and fox ifpr in back. All adjusted for a 350 lb guy. I’m 200lbs. It’s so rough I can barely ride it. Trying to find a place in Texas near Dallas that can adjust it all for my weight.
How does the HD premium front compare to the Legend front?
I hear that legend coil springs lower the bike when install complete. Is this true?
Question: Did you pay for the Legends front end or was it free?? Makes a big difference when you’re recommending something. Thanks
It does make a huge difference when recommending a product.
We have had different brands "give" us product to try & use.... if you don't hear me talking about them, it's for a REASON! We have burned a few bridges with that mindset but neither Steph or I feel that we can do a product review video on a product that we haven't rode with for over 300 miles. There are plenty of those types of reviews on UA-cam!
so... whether Steph used a Groupon coupon for these shocks, got them for free or paid over MSRP for them..... I am talking about them because I think Legend Suspension is better than the other main name brands.
@@TheOrneryOne If you are given a part it's hard to say it's a good bang for the buck.
@@TheOrneryOne appreciate you taking the time to clarify how you approach these things, I think most of us have no doubt that you mean what you say and you say what you mean and you spend time with things before talking about them. Having said that....informed decisions can’t really be made without knowing whether someone paid their own money for something or has a little less skin in the game.
If you are willing to clarify in this case, I struggle to see how it could reflect on you any way but positively. If you’d rather not say for some reason, that’s obviously your right as well, and I doubt most of us feel that it would be for any nefarious reasons, it just helps us weigh recommendations when making a buying choice. Thanks for your time. Take care.
Edit: for what it’s worth, I assumed that you bought it because I tend to only watch people I believe will disclose if something was provided for free, so I still believe you paid for it because you haven’t said otherwise.
I purchased these on your recommendation and can also recommend. While these aren't meant to improve "comfort", they sure don't reduce it. The differences in handling and braking are very noticeable. Not cheap, but worth the cost to me for a safer ride.
What is the layout on the stock front shocks?
Wish my Harley dealers were like in NJ
My front Legend shocks ain't much better than OEM. Still takes bumps hard. The only difference is I dont hear the springs rattle and it don't nose dive as bad.. We did what did directions said. I weight 280 so it said to turn it 1 turn. For $1,000? I think I wasted my money
Man that's a bummer to hear. I had high hopes. Maybe I'll go with RWD.
The Harley premium cartridge upgrade for 14 SG is similar to that progressive.i had Harley premium it was pretty good (BIG CHANGE FROM STOCK) , I moved to legend axio feels comparable but little more solid ,Id say 20 percent Better ,than that single cartridge system. GOD bless us all happy new year
Compared to Ohlins, are legend better or at par or is Ohlins better?
Ornery One...have you stuck with your 19” stock front wheel or have you or considered going up to a 21” front wheel (obviously with the Legends).
man... i love the fat front wheels but haven't made any chances to it yet.
@@TheOrneryOne I have lowers on my FLTRXS and from what Harley is telling me the 21” wheel conversion isn’t recommended for bikes with the lower fairings so I guess I am sticking with my 19” front wheel! Getting Legend Arc’s installed when they come in!
Wonder how it compares to Ohlins? Ohlins is number one right now in aftermarket bike suspension.
And certain OEMs!!
Why on a one year old bike you have to replace the front shocks😢. And you already have done the rear. At $1000 thats nuts to me😢🙁
Have you ever ridden a Road Glide?
Good question!!! Please know that I didn’t HAVE to change the shocks but wanted to. We rode 20k+ miles since March 2019 & we simply wanted to explore what is in the industry that would make our ride more comfortable. I wish the stock shocks were a bit better but they are what they are.
What’s the total cost for front and back, hoping similar for my 2018 Ultra Limited?
1.4-2k
Legends vs Ohlins which is better??? I've been looking at both, I haven't been impressed with progressive in the past.
Look at motorcycle racing where budget is no concern, and youll see a lot of gold being represented and for good reason.
Ohlins. Designed initially for MX where was heavily tested. Then refined for the road. Quality product, no aluminum where the oil contaminated from allows quickly (Japanese KYB, Showa).
Great video, I just installed 23" front wheel on my road king and now my front fender is hitting the upper part whenever I brake or run a bump , would these shocks solve the issue ?
i am pretty sure the max size you can put on a stock fender is 21.
2nd video comparing to Progressive Suspension. Makes one wonder why.
How do you communicate with Legends? They don’t talk on the phone
and they don’t answer email.
hmmm I don't like to hear that for sure! We call their main number that you can find on Yelp & communicate through Instagram but here is their service email.
service@legendsuspensions.com
@@TheOrneryOne I’ve used that one and I’ve emailed one of their guys. He gave me a price and I asked for an appointment for the install. Never from him.
When setting the preload (number of turns) you shouldn’t add the weight of the passenger to choose the setting for a plush ride. If you want a stiffer ride for cornering then you can bump it up. Just to the right of the chart it states that. I almost set mine to 1 turn because I ride 2 up but want the smoothest ride so I set it up with just my weight.
Correct! The installation & preload setting chart is not a one size fits all. The points that they want you to consider is *Do not include the passenger weight when determining the preload adjustment.
Our mechanic set our preload to 1 turn. 1 turn only because that is the weight of the Rider & Running Gear (250-349 LBS). If we had included the passenger weight along with mine & our running gear then we would be in the 2 turn range.
I’m 290 and was thinking at leaving it at zero.I hear a lot about these being a stiff ride.
I think a lot of people just go with what their buddy says....do your own research and decide whats best for you and what R&D goes into the shock....I went with Russ Wernimont Designs in the rear...still looking at front options. I
How do you I u like those RWD rear shocks?
@@teambennett3060 they were an awesome suspension upgrade. No issues at all. I’ve since sold the bike
@@travisgray3331 Good to hear.
Wilbers from Germany is best?
Excellent, I saw Chad also cleaning out the lowers with solvent too.. I'm live about 100 miles away, and need to redo my 2021 Street Glide forks.. the OEM set up is awful for me. as far as the comparison to the Progressive version.. Damper /spring on one side and cartridge on the other I think is a no no. You don't want to feed the Wobble Dragon, don't never feed the Wobble Dragon. Hmm..You know I didnt see Ornery One' comment on the results.
Why do our $20K+ bike's need better suss$$pention?
Everything can be improved 🤷🏾♂️
That is a good question!! I wish the stock bikes had better suspension but I guess HD wants to leave room for improvements that are customized to our riding. IDK :)
@@TheOrneryOne Thanks for understanding the spirit of my question.
All stock suspension is a comprimise
@@brianmaclennan561 at $20k, BMW and Ducati come with Ohlins and Marzzocci. This was the spirit of my comment.
Put legend shocks on wife's sportster. They are awesome. Put legend front on my fatbob just horrible unridable had the removed.
If you upgraded the front, and kept the back stock that's a big part of the problem. ALWAYS do the back first, or the back if you aren't planning on messing with the front.
Front upgrades are designed to enhance the overall package. Without the rear upgrades the front becomes to stiff.
I hear legends is stiff
I went Progressive 2016 RGS same as all new model front ends. 500 cheaper no front end dive great in corners and the ride is smooth as silk. I have Ohlins in the rear bike is great on trips multiple state rides. but comfort is subjective like whats the most comfortable seat or whats the best shock do what your budget can afford these guys get paid and get perks so you spend your hard earned money. BTW I can afford the Legends but decided not to use them.
Looking forward to trying the Legends soon!
Check out my Harley Davidson garage channel and let me know what you think brother! Much love and respect 👊🏻
I like my Öhlins
sweet! 👉🏼⚡️👈🏼
@@TheOrneryOne ok
Well they are better than stock by far but the best probably not.
2002 flht progressive 2 shock units 1 per leg not so with later models under 400$ with seals and bushings and oil legends 1000$ your choice too many RUBS out there
Not exactly the best source for a fair review. 2 guys that are obviously in Legends back pocket. Then you compare a $750-$875 Legend Kit to a $500 Progressive Kit. Which you don't do a true "ride" comparison. Just some outer visual comparison which tells people nothing of performance. Both brands use High Pressure Gas Monotube design but the PS unit (if I'm correct that you have this monotube model) also has their F.S.T. tech that adjusts to the damping based on various road conditions. Legend does not since it patented. So a "true ride test" may reveal the PS units perform better for around $300 less. Just more #legendhype
Video is confusing and misleading progressive suspension for a 2002 Softail you get two gas-filled cartridges two springs one for each side.
that crap is only for rich urban bikers, a regular biker cant afford that
I'm definitely not rich, and you're right, I can't afford to whip out some cash on Legends.
But you know what I can do?
Save up for it....
Stop with the RUB vs regular
