Sounds like everything I've gone through on my KX250 suspension. Would you equate that to this set up in order for for me to basically set up my bagger to this situation?
lol yeah but taking 2 weeks off for Sturgis I get behind on everything and then have to play catch up on everything so that puts recording videos on the back burner. But were in good shape now!
yeah hd is notorious for bad suspension. Tons on the market thought to choose from. The problem with most is there is no " set it and forget it" specially if you are switching between 1 up and 2 up all of the time or adding cargo off and on...changing the weight often means you need new settings for sag, rebound and compression.
Thanksfor the video, Steve. Man, I haven't gotten chit done on my bike for several months. I've been doing so many other land-chore projects plus the super heat wave of triple digit heat has been a major factor whether I wanted to do any bike projects in my stinking hot garage. Okay, that's my excuse. Back in the day when I was in the Marine Corps we'd say excuses are like azz-holes, everybody's got one. Well that was mine 🤣 So, I finally got my 21" front wheel from MotoTeks (DNA), a pair of chrome fork lowers, plus some new cans to transform the looks of my RK. I've held off for years doing any mods so now I have all the necessary chit to make some mods. I'm using your vids as a guide to do these mods so if it doesn't turn out right, I'm calling you. Haha, just pulling yer chain. Thanks for all your informative vids.
ah man that heat wave was brutal! I feel ya! There would be no way I would work on a bike in that heat. It took everything I had to walk to the mailbox LOL by all means if you need any help just hit me up!!

What about oil and symmetries according to the speed of compression and rebound. Might be overstepping the boundaries of such a fast paced video but people have questions. Also add valving ,are there different shims for the speed of oil that passes through the valve stack? Do they provide shims or spacers that allow for critical adjustment for different senerios of riding be it track or casual? Not putting you on the spot but if we're going to spend $$$$$$ on this it's worth the knowledge to give it a better understanding of the material your putting out.
We're building a street-legal performance bagger here. These fox shocks have 3 settings for rebound and compression. Which is great for the target audience they were projecting would buy them. They are completely rebuildable and re-valvable as well.
Steve, appreciate all your videos Brother. I definitely need these on my Ultra. I know Advanblack tells me it will not fit my bike because I have the hard mounted tour pack. Sometimes the companies don't know everything. If it doesn't, can you point me in the right direction for a 4 point docking kit that will fit a bike with hard mounted tour pack. Thank you Sir, enjoy all your expertly made videos!!
Hey bro! Thank you. So your bike having a hard mounted pack is a Ultra limited im assuming? Without knowing the year Im not sure which way to point you...but you have to do some sort of conversion kit like this www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/h-d-detachables-tour-pak-luggage-conversion-kit/p/53246-09C

The only compression and rebound setting you have on these is the knob at the top...1, 2 and 3...and I did explain how that works. Adjusting the spring, (sag) doesn't do much with your compression and rebound.

But my other bikes have Dirty Air, air ride on them, front and rear...thats my preferred shock for cruising.
I dont think you can with the FOX shocks becasue you have to move them back with a sepertly purchased bracket and the lines on these are pretty short. They go straight to the shock without a lot of slack. You could with the Ohlins though. Youll need a bracket like this www.ebay.com/itm/175398448975

Not with these shocks...the line is way to short to go anywhere but there...there are others though that have that...ohlins does a side under bag mount
Hey Steve, had to re-watch this as contemplating a change from air ride. I have the JNR, I ride a mix of solo and 2 up, I'm 180 and the girl is 165. My question is when you look at specs the standard duty would be fine for me and give a better ride but the high end range is to low for 2 up riding, you look at the HD spring then the low range is way to high for solo at 180 lbs. This is why I went air ride, I'm also short legged, so thought about doing the 12 inch instead of 13, but don't want to bottom out when 2 up. The air ride is fine for me solo but have to really air up when 2 up and in some instances, slow menuvers makes the bike feel unstable. Looking for an opinion on what you would suggest for the best shock in this situation. BTW got that new Biker Bar installed in the new trailer and love it! Thanks again for the video on that.
The bad thing about any adjustable shock is when you are switching back and forth between solo and 2 up it sucks you have to re adjust. Some shocks are easier than other to adjust but most require you to at the minimum, pull your bags off. With this canister system and having the 3 adjusters on top will make a huge difference in making changes quickly. Canister shocks are for cooling the fluids down when you are riding hard. So do i. however its not a feasible option for a performance bagger.
@@sikbaggers I went with just with basic set up it’s fine for me. Easier just to push a button to raise when the old lady is on to adjust the shocks or I’m just lazy lol. Keep up the great work if learn a lot from you working on my bike. Now if you did a video how to fix finding neutral without shutting off the bike would be great.
I personally think reservoir shocks look dumb.
they arent for everyone, I agree..Also not meant for every bike out there. I would expect to see them on a performance bagger, not on a town tripper bagger...which is usually what I see them on. because the "look cool"
