I have mature, dry skin and the L’Oréal powder works for me if I use the sponge applicator that comes with it and only do one light layer. It’s good for those no makeup, makeup days. Hope this helps😄

Appreciate this one, I use the ELF Camo powder. I am 72 and I have tried ELF camo concealer, big failure. I tried the Camo powder after watching your first segment on it. I really love it and like the way it looks on my skin better than liquid foundation. A little does go a long way you are right.

May I know what skin type you are? I am 70 with dry skin and hesitated trying either of these. Zabrena's video cautions against using the ELF Camo for mature, drier skin, but doesn't elaborate on why.

right! if I am being perfectly honest too I feel like she didn't want to say that she liked the Loreal one better too! Is that just me Lol? 🤷‍♂️ The elf is not good on oily skin, (I tried it) You can see here when first applied it's semi matte & it's more shiny later on too, But you think the elf looks more matte or did you mean the Loreal is more matte too..?

I tried the Elf and hated it. I have normal to dry skin and I found that at first, it looked nice, but a few hours later, in natural light, it would cake in my t zone and show pores that I never have issues with. I also found that even with primer, it didn't stay on my nose area. Just really not good for me all. BTW, I have normal to dry skin with minimal wrinkles and discoloration.

    • @acph3nv894

I’m in my 40’s and I have both powders but I actually prefer the elf one. It gives me a flawless natural matte look, it lasts a long time on my skin too. My mom who’s in her 70’s liked it so much on me she wanted one for herself lol. She loves it and wears it all the time too 😁

  • @ruk6128

I’ve tried both. Unfortunately I hated how L’Oréal powder foundation looked on my skin. No matter how many times I tried, it just looked heavy on my skin (I have super oily skin). The Elf one I didn’t really put on my whole face because the shades are either too light or too dark on me (I bought two shades to try) so I don’t know if I liked it. I hope they will come out with more shades. My all time favorite powder foundation is the Milani conceal + perfect shine proof powder. The BEST for me. It smooths out my skin and it controls my oil very well. Just LOVE it. I hit pan on it! However I think it is discontinued, I couldn’t find them anywhere, even on their website but I finally found it on Walmart online. Had to stock up! 😁

I was thinking of trying the Camo powder but am already loving my infallible! It's so easy and great coverage and I just touch up when I need it. When I'm not using infallible I use Pixi's H2O skin tint (thank you, Z!) Which is great and then sometimes I Dow a light dusting of my powder over top for a less matter look you can get many level of coverage which is great. I don't work to well with the can't stop won't stop powder foundations, but this is a nother category and the packaging for loreals is great and I'm sure for elf's too!
Also, for those with oily skin, I love the Cetaphil Derma Control Oil Absorbing Moisturizer.

I used it too and then I hit my 40s and realized it was making my skin look so much older! I used to work at ulta and would see ladies in their 40s and 50s coming in to buy Bare Minerals powder foundation and products all the time and their skin always looked older and drier. If I was asked for a recommendation, I always steered people over 40 towards products that were hydrating and smoothing. It Cosmetics was always a good bet, but Loreal and Maybelline had way better products in their line than Bare Minerals drying powders.

@nooncactus I don't think it was necessarily a case where anyone was too old for it, but I think sometimes (a lot of times) as we get older, our skin changes. I know mine has! I saw a lot of older women who used the same type of cosmetics in they did a decade or 2 ago and that just didn't suit them as well as some newer products would. Also, application methods definitely need to evolve as well. I noticed that using a brush to apply my foundation just made my skin look even more dry and flaky. Brushes can actually cause micro exfoliation and that dead skin can end up clinging to foundation. Using fingers or a sponge really was a better option as I got older. Also, thin layers of product and using less became more. The less heavy my base was, the more youthful and smooth my skin looks. I color correct spots and use less foundation than I did a decade ago. The Becca Color Corrector has been the best thing I've bought in ages. It really covers dark pigmentation and dark undereye circles without adding texture because the amount needed to get the job done is such a tiny amount. I highly recommend this product for any woman over 45!
Products that are baked were also a lot more dry skin friendly too! Just thought I'd add that! Ulta has some nice baked products as does Flower Beauty and Laura Gellar. They sit so beautifully on older skin.

I had tried the Loreal Infallible Liquid Foundation and didn't like it. My daughter got some of the Loreal Infallible Powder to Foundation but it was too light on her. I'm gonna try it out. I'm 62 and do not like any Powders that will Settle into my Lines and Wrinkles. I know you've recommended using a damp Sponge/or a Brush sprayed with Setting Spray after applying any powder so I don't get that Cakiness. Definitely going to try that Technique. I'll let you know what works for me. Thanks for doing this Review on them both. 🌺❤

The l’oreal side looks better, in my opinion. More blurred and natural at the same time.

Ok… I am pushing 50 years old. I have some damage and wrinkles around my eyes. I bought the camo a few weeks ago..
The first time I used a kabuki brush ,buffed it around, looked pretty good, it covered well…. I came downstairs and looked in the mirror in my foyer. I open my front door so my face is hit with the natural light and looked in the mirror closely 😳..
Omg ! It looked awful! I can see how to kick back all over my face. It’s as if I took all the kickback in the pan and dumped it on my face! This is why I always open the door to get a true look of how my make up looks in the harsh reality of sunlight😬.
    I figured I just wasted my $…(again🤬).
I wasn’t going to give up too easily… The second time I put it on buffed it more and hit it with setting spray… came downstairs for the true test. It looked much better however not great…
Day three… Put it on, buffed buffed off what I thought a buffed enough.. I buffed a little more. I hit it with setting spray and rolled my sponge up and down my face pressing in the spray and the powder… came downstairs and opened the door….
    WOW ! 👏👏👏👏👏
It looked really really well. Wasn’t cakey, wasn’t powdery… Nice coverage and feels like you’re wearing nothing…
Moral of the story for my fellow gals who’ve been around the block quite a few times😉… buff buff buff, spray, press❤️

Love the Paula's Choice Shine Stopper too. I am extremely oily, and could literally blot every two hours. I pat the PC product on my oily areas AFTER I finish all my makeup (including setting spray) and I will only need to blot 1-2 times/ day. Amazing.

The L'oreal powder is always chalky, too orange, and emphasizes my "Fine Lines" (ugh--not so "fine" to me.) The L'Oreal Infalible foundation always gives a gorgeous cover. Do you know if there's any way to find out which L'Oreal powder foundation number (ex:220) matches the Infallible numbers? They each have different names and numbers. Ergh. Why not make them comparable???

I have very mature skin and always use a powder foundation but on top of an illuminating primer. This gives a lovely finish. I use MF Facefinity in porcelain.

Side by side I think the l'oreal looks better, just sits better and with dry skin if you douse it with setting spray it works beautifully.

I couldn’t agree with you more regarding powder and mature skin. I have dry skin and I am in my 50’s. The L’Oréal Infallible looks awful on my skin as if all the moisture was sucked right out of it. 😂. I really wanted a good powder foundation for my skin and I have been happy with Chanel Ultra Le Teint. Pricey but looks like it is on top of my skin rather than sunken into it.

For powder foundation I'm finding as I age that going in with a glowy finishing or highlighting powder first helps avoid caking and over application. That method also makes break out shine a lot less drastic looking, always a bonus am I right? I got the idea from your backwards application videos! Love you.
Sometimes being still for awhile let's your blessings catch up with you. 🤗💖💫

I have the L’Oréal and the more mature skin. 😀 While I don’t use it for my daily makeup (when I wore more makeup daily), I do slap it on for virtual meetings online. The shorter wear time isn’t a factor, it it looks good on camera. But you definitely need to make sure that your skin is well moisturized. It will do horrible things to the look of dry skin.

I have the elf powder. It is too soon for me to say if I like it . I am an oily girl, and right now ,the weather is cool. When the weather changes I will have to see how it hold up during warmer weather.

  • @kereniinafletcher738

So, in order for me to get the powder foundation to look decent on my (slightly) mature skin, it’s more work than I’d like. To me, the point of a powder foundation is for the speed. Like for a natural no makeup look? I end up having to spend the exact same amount of time applying a powder foundation as I do to apply a liquid one. Since it’s not a time saver, and the liquid foundation looks so much better, I’m going to pass on the powder version. Sorry ~ just trying to be honest here. 😅❤️

Hate to say it, but I guess mine would be considered “mature” skin, though I have very little texture and very few wrinkles, and I use both of these powders. Sometimes alone, sometimes as a setting powder, always over sunscreen. I like that they both take away the shine I sometimes get from more moisturizing sunscreens. The Infallible sure has gotten pricey since I first started using it. Some drugstore prices are almost at the point high end was when I was younger. So, might be just using the Elf from here on out, that way I have more money for my Sephora binges.
