I loved your reaction, just as fun as the first one, Jen. One scene which I didn't think you got was Cassandra's wedding scene which is a homage to the '60s film 'The Graduate', and the Roadie was from 'Withnail and I', which is a British black comedy film. Of the Mike Myers films the 'Austin Powers' ones are the best, but 'So I Married an Axe Murder' is good too, you should do another comedy as well (if you haven't already seen it of course), 'This is Spinal Tap' it's a mock rockumentory.
Tommy Boy is a million times better than Beverly Hills Ninja. Also, you missed An Officer and a Gentleman reference. That is a GREAT movie starring Richard Gere and Debra Winger. Put that on your list of must see movies. I bet my life that you would love it.
4:44 Holy shit, I have never noticed Bob Odenkirk before! Also refrence for Lebowski lovers: the actor who played the Native American is named Larry Sellers
So many great cameos in this classic comedy. Did you notice "Handsome Dan" is Harry Shearer, voice to countless Simpson's characters including Principal Skinner, Mr. Burns, and on film, the iconic Derek Smalls, bassist for the fictional band Spinal Tap in "This is Spinal Tap"
As I'm sure has been said, the church sequence is a nearly shot-for-shot recreation of a similar sequence from "The Graduate", which once rated as high as #7 on the AFI's 100 greatest films list. A dark comedy that is well, well worth seeing. But happy to see that you got many of the other film references and Heston's great cameo. I once got to work a show with Dana Carvey, and he is exactly as funny and nice as he appears.
One warning to you before watching The Graduate: if you like the Simon and Garfunkle song, “Scarborough Fair,” don’t watch that movie! They play that song over and over and over again (both the actual version and an instrumental version) throughout the movie, and you will probably grow to hate it by the time the movie is over.
Can’t wait to watch this. Jen, if you’ve never seen The Graduate you absolutely should. It is a classic and this film heavily spoofs it. Love your reactions, keep up the great work!
Tommy Boy is fantastic! When I watched it recently, it surprised me how much I still quote from that movie decades later. You should definitely check it out.
When he screamed "I got no place else to go" that was from "An Officer and a Gentleman". It's a good movie with Richard Gere, Louis Gossett Jr. and Debra Winger that you should add to your watch list if you haven't seen it.
As a member of the tribe that the Weird Naked Indian is, the actor Larry Sellers died in December of 2021. He was very good elder, i used to serve his youngest child lunch in the cafeteria of the school. His health started to deterate in the past decade. I always was starstruck everytime I saw him cause I watch this movie dozens of times growing up. My relatives had story on him from back in the day when they were young.
This was one of my favorite films in high school. It's like an early 90s fever dream of pop surrealism - It's so weird (Jim Morrison in the desert), dark (jealousy and failure, Christopher Walken's cynical producer), funnier (IBob Odenkirk cameo as the nerd, Kim Basinger's hilarious femme fatale cougar, Harry Shearer as the radio jock) and much more experimental than the first (the ending Graduate montage with multiple endings, Del Preston's slow descent into insanity). This is probably due to the fact that they couldnt't agree on a script so they pretty much locked Mike Myers in a room for 2 weeks and he was forced to come up with anything he was obsessed with out of his demented comic mind. The character of Garth is fleshed out so much more (brilliant and poignant Carvey performance), and Del Preston, the burned-out tour manager, (actor who played the drug dealer from Withnail and I!) is absolutely inspired. I love the expanded scope (the music festival in the infancy of Lollapalooza). It's also endlessly quotable. The height IMO is the cover of YMCA by Wayne and his friends dressed as the Village People. I love that you are the first to review this!
Handsome Dan ( Harry Shearer) not only does half of The Simpsons voices, but is also Derek Smalls - bass player for Spinal Tap. Also, Jim Morrison and the Weird Naked Indian are a reference to the classic Oliver Stone movie The Doors starring Val Kilmer as Jim.
Hi Jen, As usual, a great reaction by a seasoned pro! As others have already mentioned, The Graduate (1967) is a great movie and well worth your time. Simon and Garfunkel do the wonderful music. The homage to it in this movie is iconic. Dustin Hoffman got his big break in that movie.
Jen, please consider watching Mike Myers' early comedy film "So I Married An Axe Murderer", it's a lot more silly fun just like the Wayne's World films.
8:23 "It's weird, to me, that English people call wives or girlfriends 'old ladies.'" It's not just them. I once knew a guy from Mexico. He spoke with a distinct accent. There was _no_ hiding the fact that English was his second language. He referred to _his_ wife as "the old lady." Never mind that she was twenty years his junior. 🤷♂
The whole bit about Wayne going and stopping Cassandra’s wedding is from the famous 1967 film The Graduate starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. You would love it. Also! I highly recommend you watch Tommy Boy. Classic and one of my personal favorites.
Wanted some comedy today, Jen's archive always satisfies! The dubbing for Cassandra's father was done by Jim Downey, SNL sketch writer extraordinaire. He wrote a 1987 sketch for when Bill Murray returned to host where Murray played an out-of-shape Hercules, with all parts badly dubbed. You're seen Downey as the principal in Billy Madison who delivers the hilarious "everyone in this room is now dumber" speech. Jen, your giddy, musical laugh to that gag goes in the reactor hall of fame!
A good Mike Myers 90s film, between this and the Austin Powers series, is "So I Married An Axe Murderer" (1993). Myers' Scottish dad character is the best. 😂
Regarding Chris Farley? Yes. That's your long and short answer. Edit: The thing with Jim Morrison in the desert is The Doors reference. Definitely recommend the movie with Val Kilmer as Jim. Plus he sang the songs in it too.
i saw the filming of this, i went to bonita high school, and that is across the street from the church in the final scene, i was in high school and they were filming during the school year, the gas station with heston is built direcctly next door to the church in a field. it all happened on D st in la verne ca if you ever want to google maps it
Though I didn't get it before I went to Buffalo. (First place ever I've been to that there were more Tim Horton's than Dunkin' Donuts. I even was drinking their coffee instead of beer in the stands at Highmark Stadium. The beer of course was Labatt's. But it was 34 F/ 1 C out there and the snow was an improvement over the freezing rain. It was also a disturbingly competitive game against the Jets... what was I saying? I totally lost my train of thought. Anyway, yeah, Tim Horton's is awesome, and I think I SHOULD get their coffee shipped to Florida.)
You definitely need to see Tommy Boy! Christopher Walken has a laundry list of movies you should see: Blast From The Past Suicide Kings Biloxi Blues The Dead Zone (based on Stephen King book) Batman Returns (sequel to Batman 89) The Prophecy Catch Me If You Can Mouse Hunt (very wacky) The Rundown (lots of explosions and action)
The character played by Ralph Brown is lifted from his performance as a drug-addled dealer in the cult English film Withnail & I. I'd love to see Canada's sweetheart react to it. 🥰😘🤭🤭 xxxx
I met Ralph Brown once. He wasn't calling himself Ralph Brown at the time and I sat there for a good ten minutes thinking "Are you Ralph Brown, surely you're Ralph Brown, you MUST be Ralph Brown?!?" Anyway, it was only watching this reaction that it suddenly struck me that his character here really ought to be in the next Spinal Tap movie...
The one guy Ed O'Neill in the restaurant played Al Bundy in Married with Children one of the most awesome shows of the 80's and 90's. And it is also and Modern Family but he doesn't have a very big role in here
'Handsome Dan" is Harry Shearer of Spinal Tap and The Simpsons fame. Bob Odenkirk is also in this movie briefly but I would say he's almost unrecognizable.
The whole segment of Wayne stopping the wedding was lifted straight from The Graduate with Dustin Hoffman, (the song was used in the background as well). I think you missed the gag of them "In England". It was just two guys dressed as them. You never see their faces and Garth is way shorter than he should be.
I love these movies… it’s so nostalgic seeing these scenes again, it’s great. Also, watch all of Chris Farleys movies, you can’t pick a bad one, it doesn’t exist.
The dubbed Kung Fu fight with the Daddy is still one of my favorite movie scenes of time, it still makes me laugh. Tommy boy and Beverly hills ninja are both great. Can not go wrong with either one.
😅💜 4:39 That nerdy guy is Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul). I'd love for you to do Burton's Batman Returns film. The 60s camp Batman would be a laugh. 'The Batman' (2022) is excellent but dark.
Del Preston is not only the greatest roadie in existence, he also has some handy hints for those who often find themselves cornered by Bengal tigers... or shop owners and their children. My friends and I have been quoting these films since the 90's, full of classic lines, but Del's sad yet victorious tale is the GOAT... tiger?... I so badly wanted a Wayne's World 3 just to hear more about Del and his old lady. Edit - 21:05 and here's one of many reasons I had a 'bit' of a crush on Drew well before she hooked up with Cameron and Lucy.
I believe the major movies being parodied in this one -- apart from the ones you called out -- are: "The Graduate" (without spoiling it, a major part of Wayne's World 2 is beat-for-beat "The Graduate," including the soundtrack! Definitely one you should add to your list, it's a great movie.) "Field of Dreams" (also highly recommended ... the "If you book them, they will come" line is a riff on the most memorable quote from "Field of Dreams." This would be a good one to react to too, I'd opine.) "The Doors" (all the vision stuff with Jim Morrison and the naked Indian in the desert is from the "Doors" biopic starring Val Kilmer ... I think? I've never seen this one, but I'm 99% sure on this, nonetheless!)
Ahh the 90's. Soon to be the new '80's. Forgot about the 'Worlds Best Roadie'. He is possibly the creator of 'The Camberwell Carrot'. Please watch 'Withnail and I' as it is a must see 80's Classic. As always, Thanx Jen. Peace All
"Change down, man. Find your neutral space. You gotta rush. It'll pass. Be seated."....... I love the "Danny the dealer" cameo in this film, Ralph Brown is brilliant.
@@tomhoffman4330 Tom, try not to let things get to you, difficult at times I know, but life is full of ups and downs so, often the bad times don't tend to last too long I've found, try to ride the wave until an upturn.
Party time, excellent! Wayne’s World 1 & 2 are such a good pair of movies - guaranteed feelgood times all round, infinitely quotable, good-hearted and just plain fun! Aerosmith had appeared in. Wayne’s World sketch on Saturday Night Live (the sketch also featured Tom Hanks!), so they had a previous connection. As for more, well, Mike Myers and Dana Carvey had something of a falling out after this movie but are reconciled now and on occasion have done Wayne and Garth bits on award shows and the like! Wayne’s World 3 is therefore not beyond the realms of possibility! We can only pray to Heather Locklear that if it happens, it doesn’t suck 😁
"Because I got nowhere else to go!" during the roadie training is referencing An Officer and a Gentleman. That's one that got missed even back then. You also didn't say you got it, so I'll also say the entire "running from the wedding and getting on a bus", especially with Mrs Robinson going, was a nod to The Graduate.
I forgot how funny this movie is, so thanks for doing this reaction Jen! Also, going to the theater with my Mom to see Jurassic Park and experiencing Digital Surround Sound for the first time is one of my fondest memories! From the opening sequence with the Raptor to the very end with the T-Rex saving the day, I was in awe the entire time! What a film that still holds up today! : )
Excellent reaction, as usual, Jen! I hope you're out of the path of all the smoke and everything from the forest fires up north. The sky is hazy and the air is rough to breathe even down where I live, so I can't imagine how bad it is if you happen to be closer to the source. But to anyone who sees this and is dealing with the poor air quality or the fires themselves, I hope you all stay safe and healthy! ✌🤓
The litter was a take-off of the last scene of the extremely popular Woodstock movie. 1/2 million people [largest gathering in history] has a tendency to leave some trash [and it rained during the concert too] so given what it was can be somewhat understandable. [the cool thing is that so many stayed behind to help clean up Woodstock] [it was "three days of fun and music and nothing but fun and music" and the owner of the farm "God blessed them for it"] The bubble blowing smooth guy was a spoof on the very famous Cary Grant, the Indian with one tear was a regularly run commercial or more like a public service announcement showing the Indian with the tear looking out over the land I believe after showing someone litter [It was meant to heighten awareness not to litter] it was a regular seen thing on TV at the time. Of course, the entire red car/church part was a takeoff of the Graduate [unfortunately acting as a spoiler for you in this case] Of course Jim Morrison was the lead singer for the Doors [died of drug overdose in England]. Their blue AMC Pacer they drove so proudly was generally accepted as possibly the ugliest car ever made and was widely panned and people who drove them were made fun of much like the owners of Ford's Edsel in the late 50s early 60s. The man with voices in his head was the dad on the very popular "Married with Children" sitcom. Kenny G with his sax was commonly played [and got the reputation of being only good for this] as "elevator" music and other public background music such as waiting rooms like at dentist offices. "Ancient Chinese secret" was a direct line from the Calgon detergent commercials. "I got no place to go" is from the movie "Officer and a Gentlemen" [doesn't spoil it and YES, it is a classic and you probably should do it sometime]. If you book them, they will come" of course is from Field of Dreams "If you build it, he will come". [Kevin Costner] Rip Taylor was a famous comedian known for his trademark move: Throwing confetti. I believe Charlton Heston did a PSA about littering too with the single tear again while looking over a wasteland of litter. [very often run between TV shows] Great how this movie can still stand up as a good time funny farce even without knowing all the nods to popular stuff from that time. Great reaction.
Hey Jen! I love your channel! Usually you don't have much of a Canadian accent, but at 3:29, when you said "goat," your Canadian REALLY came out, eh? 😏
I loved so many things about this reaction there's no way I can recall them all. The wedding scene is an homage to the classic movie The Graduate, a must see if you've never seen it. Jen, If you start doing martial arts movies you'll have work for years and I'm here for it. Kill Bill would be great. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is epic. I bet you'd really enjoy Jackie Chan movies too. Regarding Chris Farley, no movies in the 90s cracked me up more than Black Sheep and Tommy Boy. So I Married an Axe Murderer starring Mike Myers is another classic 90s comedy. Sorry for the long list, but party on Jen 🥂
Looking forward to the dance moves Jen. I can see you rocking out to this. A Christopher Walken you might love is Blast From the Past. Mike Myers to watch is So I Married an Axe Murderer. Goofy 80s, Short Circuit, Porky's, Clue, Spaceballs Good reaction Jen.
19:21 - that song in the background is the Brazilian bossa nova "The Girl From Ipanema" with vocals by Astrud Gilberto released in 1964. She was the wife of musician Joao Gilberto and was asked to sing on the song since she spoke English. It was her first professional recording session and the song became a huge hit ushering in a "bossa nova" craze in the U.S. I just saw in the news that Astrud passed away yesterday at the age of 83. Rest in peace. ua-cam.com/video/sVdaFQhS86E/v-deo.html
Jen when Wayne's World was on SNL Aerosmith were probably the most famous guests who appeared on their show. Aerosmith even did a version of their Wayne's World introduction. As for more Batman, reacting to a few episodes of the original TV series from the 60's would be a riot
I love that you'll be watching the Austin Power's trilogy soon. Now that you're well versed in Bond the references will be easy to spot. Please give Batman '66 a look. You'll see some classic camp as well as an all-star lime up of villains.
The parts where Wayne is pounding on glass and stopping the marriage, is stolen from the classic the Graduate (1967). Jenny: u might love Oliver Stones’ The Doors. Val Kilmer was amazing ❤. Ps: the crying Indian at the very end, is taken to an ultra-famous PSA against pollution and litter. (The psa Indian Wasn’t an Indian!)
As an Illinois guy not far from aurora these are 2 of my favorite movies, Mike Myers and Dana carvey are 2 of my favorite snl guys...plus how's hasn't anyone commented saying Jen is a BABE!!! SHWING!!! SHWING!!! SHWING!!! Haha😂😂😊
Speaking of the litter, I’ve always loved the irony that the town that held the first Earth Day (iirc, in Michigan) had to spend over $1M to clean up the litter afterwards.
Rockin' out with Jen on a Monday night with Wayne's World, the only thing missing was Skinny body surfing through the rock mob!! You missed the Officer and Gentlemen reference with Chris Farley (I've Got Nowhere Else To GO!!) and the homage to The Graduate where Wayne rescues Cassandra at the altar. But you did great with all the others, or should I say, EXCELLENT!! 🤘

Mike Myers is in a little known gem called Mystery, Alaska as a sports commentator. Good hockey dramady with russel crowe
I feel like this is an underrated sequel but I may be biased since I was such a 90s kid and have so much nostalgia for it lol
The dubbed Kung Fu fight with the Daddy is still one of my favorite movie scenes of time, it still makes me laugh. Tommy boy and Beverly hills ninja are both great. Can not go wrong with either one.
😅💜
4:39 That nerdy guy is Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul).
I believe the major movies being parodied in this one -- apart from the ones you called out -- are:
"The Graduate" (without spoiling it, a major part of Wayne's World 2 is beat-for-beat "The Graduate," including the soundtrack! Definitely one you should add to your list, it's a great movie.)
"Field of Dreams" (also highly recommended ... the "If you book them, they will come" line is a riff on the most memorable quote from "Field of Dreams." This would be a good one to react to too, I'd opine.)
"The Doors" (all the vision stuff with Jim Morrison and the naked Indian in the desert is from the "Doors" biopic starring Val Kilmer ... I think? I've never seen this one, but I'm 99% sure on this, nonetheless!)
dude, Garth Algar found his perfect match, and it was perfect.
i believe we can all find our match… eventually. 🥰
Chris Farley's "I got no place else to go..." is Richard Gere's line from An Officer and a Gentleman. Definitely watch that!
Greetings from Finland girl!!! Omg yes thank you for saving me from boredom after this I can go to sleep with smile on my face 🙂"I'll be back" 😎
The whole wedding scene is from The Graduate.
Wayne's World 1 was great, but this was my favorite.
"I'm gonna go pick a FIGHT!" - Chris Farley knocks me dead every time.
Good Evening Jen, and Thank You for this one today; I've been feeling really bummed lately, and nobody else can cheer Me up as much as You do! ❤🩹👍
Hope you feel better Tom ☺️👍
@@jenmurrayxo Thanks Jen, I am trying...
I'm sorry to hear that thing aren't going so well for you. Tom, I really hope that they improve for you soon.
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Appreciate that Adam; I'm just having a bit more "bad luck" than usual these days...
@@tomhoffman4330 Tom, try not to let things get to you, difficult at times I know, but life is full of ups and downs so, often the bad times don't tend to last too long I've found, try to ride the wave until an upturn.
There was a Wayne’s World 2?!? No way! How did I ever miss this??? Aerosmith - Pump - classic album! 🤘
The whole driving up the coast in the little car through the tunnel, asking directions at a gas station, running out of gas is part of it.
There were a number of references to FIELD OF DREAMS (Universal Pictures, 1989) that I think you missed
Thank you! We are clear where I live thank goodness, hoping everyone stays safe & healthy!
Driving up the coast in the little sports car, going through the tunnel, asking directions at a gas station, etc. is all part of that.
I hereby declare Jen, "The Coolest Woman In The LAND!" land ... land ... land ... land ... (echo) ⚡ 👍👍
😂🤘
Looking forward to the dance moves Jen. I can see you rocking out to this.
A Christopher Walken you might love is Blast From the Past.
Mike Myers to watch is So I Married an Axe Murderer.
Goofy 80s, Short Circuit, Porky's, Clue, Spaceballs
Good reaction Jen.
I laughed way too hard at #rodieprobs 😆😆😆
These babies are belt fed Browning M-60s they tend to heat up so fire in short 3 second bursts.
Awesome Reaction Jen! Also I love your shirt
All this. Except The Graduate is ‘67, not ‘61.
I look forward to the Austin Powers movies, and yes watch all things Chris Farley(you will enjoy)!
Thanks Pauley ☺️👍
The first time I saw AEROSMITH was in my high school GYMNASIUM ticket $5.OO in 1975 in MASSACHUSETTS
Great reaction, love the way you are watching WW and all the Bonds before diving into Austin Powers - you'll love hem, they are non-stop wheeze fests!
Chris Farley crying during roadie training was a reference to “An Officer and a Gentleman” with Richard Gere.
had a blast remembering this hilarious movie. Great reaction Jen
