Fun fact, Mike Myers was in the Bohemian Rhapsody movie because of this movie, Adam Lambert auditioned for American Idol with Bohemian Rhapsody and later became front man for Queen AND he appeared in the movie.

Mike Meyers grew up in Toronto, and there is a street named after him. His parents were from Liverpool, so Mike can do that accent too. Canada's Tim Horton's donut franchise was started by the Toronto hockey player of the same name. They named the one in the movie after Chicago Blackhawk star Stan Mikita, since the movie was supposed to take place in Illinois - so they got Mikita's permission to use his name and he appeared in the movie.
To give some historical context here; when they were making the movie, the director Penelope Spheeris went to ask Queen their permission to use Bohemian Rhapsody for the film. I'm not even sure I'd say 2 is above average. The first one is already a bit silly, but the second one turns into a live action cartoon. There may be a joke here and there that lands, but overall I think I'd just call it bad. Such a let down after the first one.
@@daneng3641 I'd rate the Graduate soundtrack as more essential than the movie itself, but that's my $0.02 The film definitely takes a spot in movie history, for Hoffman's breakout performance if nothing else
"Thats Sweet". Excellent. The scene near the beginning where Wayne and Garth pull up alongside the older guy in the car and he asks, "Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?" is a take on a series of commercials that aired on American television for several years where the person pulls up alongside an older rich guy asks if they have a Grey Poupon. Grey Poupon is Dijon Mustard.
This movie introduced an entire generation to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It’s been years since I’ve seen this. I’ve always loved Tia Carrera. You need to see “Evolution,” with David Ducovny.
In the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, Mike Myers plays the record executive who refused to release Bohemian Rhapsody as a single as he said "I want a song kids can bang their head to in the car, and Bohemian Rhapsody is not that song", and Mike showed the Bohemian Rhapsody clip to Freddie Mercury and Freddie liked it
Oh the memories of this movie. It came out a couple years after I graduated high school and my friends and I were cracking up over some of the similarities. We were all metal heads, most of us either were currently in, or had been in, metal bands, and two of my friends (who were brothers) ran a local cable access television show focused on the Washington DC area music scene that we had all either worked on, had been on as guests, or both.
The security guard was Chris Farley. One of the funniest guys of the past 30 years. Saturday night Live, Tommy Boy,. Coneheads, Beverly hills Ninja, and others. RIP.
When they were on the hood of the car, Dana Carvey improvised the Bugs Bunny dressed as a girl line. Mike Myers’ laughter was genuine as it caught him off guard.
This movie made Bohemian Rhapsody super popular again. #2 on the top 40 chart. It was only #9 when it was originally released. I remember a local station playing it on repeat for hours.
If you've ever seen the Church Lady character on SNL, that was Garth (Dana Carvey). You can find clips of Mike Myers as Wayne Campbell from 1986 (before the Bill and Ted movies) when he was a cast member of the Chicago branch of the Second City comedy troupe. He later developed it into Wayne's World when he was on SNL. The movie gave "Bohemian Rhapsody" a sudden boost in sales.
He was doing the Wayne Campbell Character in Toronto long before SNL on a late night music video program called City Limits on CityTV, his segment was called Wayne’s Power Minute, which was pretty much the concept of Wayne’s World. You can still find clips from that on UA-cam. A lot of this movie was based on Toronto including the Gas Works club that used to be on Yonge Street, one of his hangouts back then
The comedic irony in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody was Michael Myers character as the record producer that says no one will ever rock out in and bang their heads to this song
I was in high school when this came out. So many lines from this movie my classmates and I used to say to one another. It really makes me miss the early 90s. Great job headbanging! 🤘😍
My stepdad and I saw this at the theater when I was 9 years old. Wayne's World was such a big influence on American pop culture - the soundtrack, the catch phrases and mannerisms. All of us in school and my friends in the neighborhood knew the movie. We'd play street hockey in the cul-de-sac where I lived, blasting Metallica 'n all that stuff on the boombox. Every time a vehicle came by one of us would say "CAR!!!", move the goal, then all of us with "GAME ON!!". Some of the very best times of my life. Grateful to have grown up in the 90s. \m/
I may have missed it, but if you haven't watched it yet, you need to see So I Married an Axe Murderer. Mike Myer's is the lead, but he also plays the very, VERY Scottish dad of the lead in the film. It's basically proto-Shrek if Shrek liked the Bay City Rollers.
During lockdown, Josh Gad did a series of cast reunion zoom calls…..all of which are excellent. But the Wayne’s World is one of the highlights, due to the fact that Brian May & Roger Taylor from Queen take part. May recalls how prior to Freddie Mercury’s death, he’d managed to get a tape of the film & took it to show Freddie; who at the time was in hospital. Mercury loved the film!!! Mike Myers was visibly moved upon hearing this tale, as he’d been totally unaware Freddie had seen the film. Fast forward several years & Mike Myers appeared in the Queen biopic. “This is sweet” Yessss, it is Sweet!! 😂
Back in the last century, cable companies would use one of their channels to air local interest segments/shows as well as local politics and events. Wayne's World like shows were produced all over the country. Wayne's World started as a skit on Saturday Night Live in the US. This movie also popularized the Bohemian Rhapsody sing along in cars trend.
Dawn, you’re frickin’ hilarious. I think the funniest thing you said in this entire reaction was when they opened the door “to a bunch of guys being trained like a James Bond movie” and you said, “Oh, I haven’t seen a James Bond movie. Now they’ve spoiled it”! 🤣
In a later interview, Mike Myers admitted that they added the "Bohemian Rhapsody" scenes as filler because the first cut of the movie was 15 minutes too short. Those scenes became the best-remembered in the entire movie.
The only thing I know about Delaware is an old song my dad used to listen to. 🎵What did Della wear, boys?🎵 🎵What did Della wear?🎵 🎵She wore a brand new jersey🎵 🎵She wore a brand new jersey🎵 All the verses are plays on the names of US states. But I can only remember half of it.
16:35 I love how pink shirt guy(sorry can't remember his character's name atm) genuinely gets the humor. It's an early indication that he's not just some corporate shleez underling and is actually pretty cool and an alley to Wayne.
Dawn, Rob Lowe was a teen heartthrob back in the 80s. He was one of the "Brat Pack" , which was a group of actors/actresses who were in all the teen/coming-of-age movies back then The Brat Pack consisted of Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Andrew McCarthy, and the main cast of "The Breakfast Club" (Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, and Emilio Estevez).
Wayne’s World and Dawn’s dirty laugh is a match made in heaven! Fortunately for us all, we now have Wayne’s World 2 reaction to look forward to as well! We’re not worthy 😁 Fun fact: the guy who played the record company guy in the limo was actually Michael Jackson’s manager for many years!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this favourite of mine - a carefree musical comedy from the time when people weren't afraid to laugh (awfully happy you still aren't). Tia Carere actually did perform these songs and wrote most of what her band played, hers is my favourite cover of "Ballroom Blitz".
trivia: the phrase "that's what she said" became popular because of this movie (it existed before it but was relatively unknown until this movie and the Saturday night live wayne's world sketches which this movie is based on popularized the phrase)
Its a great movie; basically everyone with a speaking roll in this film were real life friends with Mike Myers, (even the *Terminator 2* actor), and most came to work on _this_ movie as a favor to Mike after he left *Saturday Night Live,* they even would come back in the *Austin Powers* franchise with speaking roles. Dana Carvey _Garth_ is actually self taught drummer, he might've done the drum solo
Its cool to see thst pretty smile of yours .When this first came out I seen it in a theater .Wayne's World was a skit on Saturday night live in the late 80s.I loce it but miss it nowadays. And again I love seeing you smile during this
Dawn's World! Dawn's World! Party time! Excellent! One of the best Saturday Night Live spin-off movies (Night at the Roxbury, Coneheads, Blues Brothers, etc). The sequel is equally good. For more of Mike doing his Scotch accent - So I Married An Axe Murderer
One of my favorite comedies - iconic! And the sequel was really good, too IMO. People sometimes overlook Rob Lowe in this movie, but he's really awesome. He once said that Wayne's World began a new mini-career for him as "good looking comic dick." lol... Underrated and versatile actor. He did a bunch of really well-received drama roles earlier in his career (Outsiders, St. Elmo's Fire, Bad Influence), then he did some comedies (Wayne's World, Austin Powers, Tommy Boy, etc.). He's also had some very high-profile TV roles like "The West Wing" and "Parks and Recreation" (one of my personal faves).
This movie was my bible as an 18 year old. Years later I showed it to my best mate who’d never seen it and afterwards he turned to me and said “that explains so much about you”.
Back in those days a lot of guitar shops had a list of songs you could not play on the guitar and Stairway to Heaven was the number one song in every single shop! 🤣🤣🤣
Got a crap-ton of bad news this weekend. Then you posted this. Thanks, Dawn, for giving me an attitude adjustment and rescuing my weekend. You are a hilarious blessing.
Pre internet a lot of communities in the US had cable channels, included in the channels was a public access channel where anyone who wanted to have their own show so there were a variety of creative..and not so creative shows produced by those particular people. As they were not regulated network stations, content was pretty much open to just about everything and anything and some really did develop a bit of a large following.
If I recall correctly, Dana Carvey who played Garth here is an excellent drummer. While he was still on SNL he sometimes played them there too. There is a sequel to this movie and I'd suggest giving it a peek. It is quite good too. This was truly a star studded movie back in the day...
I absolutely love this movie and re-watch it at least once a year. I know I'm in the minority but the line that always cracks me up is "Hi. I'm in Delaware." :)
May be missing references. Stan Mikita was a Chicago Blackhawks star. Koharski was an NHL ref of dubious reputation. Grey Poupon was a commercial where rich people asked another driver if they had Grey Poupon.
Stan Mikita Donuts is a take off on Tim Horton's Donuts. The latter is *THE* most popular donut/coffee shop in Canada. Both Tim Horton and Stan Mikita are NHL hockey players from roughly the same era.
the stairway to heaven riff is fixed in the 4k version of this movie. All other versions (including this one) after the theatrical release used a substitute riff because Led Zeppelin was notorious (and still is) for not allowing their music to be played/making it super expensive.

I'm not even sure I'd say 2 is above average. The first one is already a bit silly, but the second one turns into a live action cartoon. There may be a joke here and there that lands, but overall I think I'd just call it bad. Such a let down after the first one.
I never heard anyone say they thought the Graduate was one of the greatest films of all time. Not even close. It's good but far from great.
I'd say it's almost equally important to watch _Withnail and I,_ because that is where the drug-addled roadie character came from.
@@farmerbill6855 It's not great, but culturally significant, and it's got Simon and Garfunkel!
@@daneng3641 I'd rate the Graduate soundtrack as more essential than the movie itself, but that's my $0.02
The film definitely takes a spot in movie history, for Hoffman's breakout performance if nothing else
Dawn knowing sweet and Alice cooper just pushed her from cool to god tier ! Can’t wait for the Wayne’s word 2 reaction .
Public Access television. The old school version of a youtube channel.
In the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, Mike Myers plays the record executive who refused to release Bohemian Rhapsody as a single as he said "I want a song kids can bang their head to in the car, and Bohemian Rhapsody is not that song", and Mike showed the Bohemian Rhapsody clip to Freddie Mercury and Freddie liked it
Luckily Freddie was able to see a cut of the scene with them singing to Bohemian Rhapsody before he passed and loved it.
I was 13 years old when I saw this movie on VHS. Loved it and still do.
Was also through it I heard Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time.
👆❤️ʜɪᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ 👆👆,,.
The movie reminds me of the guys I hung out with "back in the day." Good memories
"What keeps happening to him?"
The reason why Garth keeps getting blown away when he sees his girl is because... well, he gets blown away. Literally.
"People like genuine people," which is why I like you.
I still wish we had a transcript of what Garth shouts at Wayne under the jet engine that ends with 'until the handle breaks off!'
Is Garth supposed to look like a 70 year old?
A lot of this movie was based on Toronto including the Gas Works club that used to be on Yonge Street, one of his hangouts back then
@@ytzpilot Then upstairs from The Gasworks was The Chimney.
The early 90s was a golden age!
I’ve done some headbanging with Amon Amarth since their beats are beastly. And I’ve seen people headbang.
👆❤️ʜɪᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ 👆👆..,,..
This movie revived Bohemian Rhapsody 's popularity big time.
"I got a numb bum." Dawn Marie, 2023 🤭
I'm sure you'd like "SO I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER". Best Mike Myers movie ever.
Oh yeah she did the head bang sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!
“This is sweet”
Yessss, it is Sweet!!
RIP Chris Farley.
Man's a legend.
👆❤️ʜɪᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ 👆👆..,,
Cable access channels were what UA-camrs did before UA-cam Dawn! 😊
🎵What did Della wear, boys?🎵
🎵What did Della wear?🎵
🎵She wore a brand new jersey🎵
🎵She wore a brand new jersey🎵
All the verses are plays on the names of US states. But I can only remember half of it.
You are correct! Mike is Canadian and either his parents and/or grandparents were Scottish, lassie!💋😍💕
👆❤️ʜɪᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ 👆👆..
Wayne’s World and Dawn’s dirty laugh is a match made in heaven! Fortunately for us all, we now have Wayne’s World 2 reaction to look forward to as well! We’re not worthy 😁
Fun fact: the guy who played the record company guy in the limo was actually Michael Jackson’s manager for many years!
15:39 That's Sikamikanico by Red Hot Chili Peppers. They wrote that song specifically for this movie.
trivia: the phrase "that's what she said" became popular because of this movie (it existed before it but was relatively unknown until this movie and the Saturday night live wayne's world sketches which this movie is based on popularized the phrase)
Grey Poupon commercials…. Classic. You have to watch a few to get the reference.
“Ballroom Blitz” ❤
Mike Myers based his accent for Shrek on a previous character he had played, Fat Bastard from Austin Powers, Goldmember
Mike Myers parents emigrated to Canada from Scotland. His father's love for James Bond and Peter Sellers movies inspired Mike to become a child actor.
Garth is really drumming.
Probably cry himself to sleep on his giant PILLAH !
"Scots accent" - Scotch is a drink. 🥃👍
I've got a weird affinity for "The Ladies Man"... I think it's mostly due to Tim Meadows being just so god damn entertaining no matter what he does.
Thanks for the laughs ! Needed that today . Oh , side note , Garth ( Dana Carvey ) really was playing drums in the music store .
This movie was my bible as an 18 year old. Years later I showed it to my best mate who’d never seen it and afterwards he turned to me and said “that explains so much about you”.
Yes! We all do that in the car when Bohemian Rhapsody is playing.
Dawn did an Excellent reaction!
A most Excellent reaction!
I love this movie because it reminds me of the boys I hung out with late high school/early college. It takes me back.
Garth: “I’m having a good time…not…😅”
Excellent head banging, Dawn!
Happy Sunday Dawn Marie 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍!!! hugs lysm , stay unique and keep having fun , you hit another 90´s classic schiiiiiing!!!!
"They always sound like they're shouting at you, even when they're saying something nice."
The same could be said about the Scottish.
If I recall correctly, Dana Carvey who played Garth here is an excellent drummer. While he was still on SNL he sometimes played them there too. There is a sequel to this movie and I'd suggest giving it a peek. It is quite good too. This was truly a star studded movie back in the day...
THANK YOU!
"Doesn't feel ANY different."
I've been waiting years for someone to admit it.
We're not worthy!

I think a lot of us Gen X kids were running around shouting SCHWING at any given opportunity. 😂
Your juvenile sense of humor warms my heart. Party On Dawn Marie!
Jelly is slightly different from jam. Jammie made with fruit and jelly is made with the juice of fruit so its not as tick and no fruit chunks.
I grew up in Aurora, Illinois. This is absolutely a true story.
👆❤️ʜɪᴛ ᴍᴇ ᴜᴘ ᴏɴ ᴛᴇʟᴇɢʀᴀᴍ 👆👆,,.
Such a fun movie, thanks for reacting to it!
6:24 meatloaf as you sing queen lol.
Honourable mention
4:56 Al “4 touchdowns in 1 game” Bundy
Thanks for gracing youtube with your excellent taste, Dawn. Great reaction, Party On!
"doesn't feel any different" haha good one
Stan Mikita Donuts is a take off on Tim Horton's Donuts. The latter is *THE* most popular donut/coffee shop in Canada. Both Tim Horton and Stan Mikita are NHL hockey players from roughly the same era.
Tia Carrere was GORGEOUS! ❤
the stairway to heaven riff is fixed in the 4k version of this movie. All other versions (including this one) after the theatrical release used a substitute riff because Led Zeppelin was notorious (and still is) for not allowing their music to be played/making it super expensive.
This movie repolarized Queens Bohemian Rapsody. Some young folks who never heard the song before thought it was called Bohemian Rapcity.
6:24 🎵"I would do anything for..." "a bat out of hell"🎵
19:06 "Doesnt feel any different" made me shoot my coffee across the room!
