Loved your reaction video to Happy Gilmore Addie !!! Fun Fact: Christopher McDonald's character as "Shooter McGavin" is seen as one of the most iconic in the game of golf. As of after the release of this movie, Christopher McDonald would appear on a golf course & to this day HAS NEVER PAID A COURSE FEE TO PLAY GOLF !!! The reason would be because the golfers who paid for McDonald's course fee could say "I played a round of golf with Shooter McGavin !!!" Keep it going !!! 🏒

I always brushed these Adam Sandler comedies off as whatever, and probably not that funny, as they looked so damn silly. But after watching HG years ago after some friends recommended it, I couldn't have been more wrong. This is a laugh riot throughout, and one of the best sports related comedies out there.

Happy's fight with Bob Barker is both classic AND epic. The movie's writers tried to think of a celebrity for Happy to fight, and his name jus t kind of came up. Everybody loved the idea, but thought there was just no way they could get Bob on board. Bob himself was unsure, but agreed in the end - on condition that HE won the fight.
As it happens, Bob has been a keen martial arts enthusiast for most of his life. So it turned out to be pretty much ALL Bob in that fight scene. The only real work his stunt double got was in the rolling down the hill part.

Fun reaction, Addie. Happy Gilmore (1996) is my all-time favorite Adam Sandler movie. The funniest scenes for me were when he was in the batting cage getting hit with baseballs, when he was yelling at the golf ball and ultimately cursing at the AT&T Invitational, causing the TV to bleep uncontrollably, and my personal favorite, when he fought Bob Barker at the Pepsi Pro-Am and said to him, "The Price is Wrong, B**ch!".

A lot of people don't realize but pre-American Pie 90s were still pretty wild. Comedies were usually PG-13 rather than Seth Rogen R, but they pushed that rating to its limits. Everything was raunchy and juvenile. It wasn't just Adam Sandler. This is pre-Wedding Singer Adam Sandler, so he's still playing kind of an angry, bipolar guy. Wedding Singer was the first time we got a real, adult character out of him. At this point, he's fitting right in with 90s comedy that was dominated by Jim Carrey. Reign Over Me is still my favourite Adam Sandler movie, followed by Spanglish and Wedding Singer, but this is nostalgic for me, like Ace Ventura. I'm not going to pretend it's a Jerry Lewis classic, but I still get a kick out of it - and the random appearance by Carl Weathers, AKA Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies.

Had to wait for an ambulance to get back on set each time to continue shooting. And the subway for lunch and dinner every day got old fast lol. The hotel they rented for staff was in a horrible part of town and most of us had to switch hotels to sleep safely then can to the original hotel for the bus to the set every morning. I know it's just an Adam Sandler comedy where ridiculous things happen constantly, but there is NO WAY they would force Shooter to hit a ball off a patron's foot or not rope off the tower that got hit by the car. Also, Shooter's logic that Happy has to play the ball as it lies because "I had to hit it off of Frankenstein's fat foot" doesn't really apply because he hit his ball ONTO Mr. Larson's foot, whereas the tower blocking Happy's shot was due to the negligence of the pro tour's security.

I've said it on many a reaction: I'm not a sports person. At all. And yet for some reason, movies that feature sports still manage to get my attention and admiration somehow. I could probably list 20 sports-related movies that I really love and think you would probably like too, but I have to recommend two of my favorites, which both also have comedy elements as well. "The Replacements," with Keanu Reeves and Gene Hackman, and "Mystery, Alaska," with Russel Crowe and Burt Reynolds. If they aren't already on your list, I hope you or someone on your Patreon will add them!

Heyyy, it's Billy and I'm glad that you enjoyed this movie! There's a huge amount of movies from Adam Sandler that, in all honesty, I got a bit over-saturated by him. It happens with a lot of big named actors. It's been a while since I've watched this and I'm reconsidering watching the whole thing again with you. I do remember most of his movies but I don't really go out of my way to watch them. The only exception is 50 First Dates. You haven't done any re-watch movies so far, but if there's ever a possibility I hope this would be on the list!
Have a wonderful weekend!! Take care of yourself, Addie!! Tell Ollie hi!!

I live in Adam Sandler's home town and its cool to occasionally see him in the Summer. Saw him at the Red Arrow and at the Backroom.

At the beginning of Addie's videos when she mentions joining the "A" them it makes me laugh a little. I grew up in the 70's & 80's so the "A Team" was a tv show. So every time Addie mentions joining the A Team it's like she's asking me to join Hannibal, Face, B.A., and Murdock who are the "A Team" lol

Adam Sandler's best comedy, IMO. It was before it's time, and it's still timeless to this day! "They wouldn't let me play on the pro tour anymore..." 🤣
