It is a privilege of, and a testament to, Western democratic society that diversity is not only tolerated but seen by many as preferable. And furthermore, while I believe that racism is wrong and stupid, people nowadays treat it as the greatest moral evil, as though there is nothing and no one worse than a racist. As a Christian myself I feel the same way. I listen to a lot of different content creators. One of the things that determines on whether I like their content and can listen to them is this. It's if I think I could sit down with them personally and have a reasonable conversation. Even if we disagree on certain topics. And obviously, like yourself, I have some fundamental disagreements with Dev. But I've always felt if I were to meet him. We could have a cordial conversation about any topic and afterwards hang out and play some vids. And that's a good thing.

A few weeks ago I tried to discuss, with a primarily left-leaning community on Discord about their take on Scott Cawthon once that Donation awareness broke out. They were of the belief that because Scott donated to Republicans, that anything and everything he had done with the FNAF community, his donations to charities and the like were _never_ genuine. That he was irreversably morally compromised and owed everybody who was a fan of his work an apology. They also spent time raving at felt that anybody defending him was the scum of the Earth who were just as complicit in the "crimes of the Republican Party". I tried to argue that that take was extreme, that Scott has done too much to deserve that label and that there have been people who've done far more noteworthy crimes than donating. When that backfired, I basically asked them if they would be okay with what was basically literal WW2-era Nazi Party rhetoric. They answered "yes!", and then promptly banned me for transphobic remarks, I'm assuming. I think I lost a friend of 10+ years over it, too.
All that because I disagreed about what the donation actually meant in regards to Scott's character. Their reaction damaged my opinion of the LGBT community rather than made me feel bad about my position.
Sounds like leftists all right.

To be fair to Nintendo, they usually only nuke fan projects when they are about to release a new game. They nuked AM2R because they were remaking Metroid 2 and they nuked Pokèmon Uranium because they release a new Pokèmon game regularly. It's in their best interest to not have a competing title that people can play for free, especially one that bears the title of one of their IPs.

I never liked the idea of entertainment/meme channels talking about politics out of nowhere. There will be videos that are literal shitposts and then one video endorsing pro-choice out of nowhere.
The goal of such channels is often to garner a following so, once they've gotten big enough, they can use their platform to start spewing their rhetoric. That said, there's also the possibility that they just happen to get big and then, independent of that success, decide to start using their platform as a soapbox incidentally.
Either way, it's usually a subversive mind that ends up doing this. They were always ideologues, but simply didn't show it until the opportune time, with the goal to make themselves seem virtuous and/or to indoctrinate more people into their belief system. It is the mindset of a liar, coward and fraud.

If you say what you said to them, they'll play the whole "no it's different when you're dealing with literal bigots". I grew up in a Christian household, and while I'm not anywhere near as religious as I once was, I will admit that I learned a lot about the Christian faith. Christians are taught what seems to be the opposite of what woke people truly believe. Show kindness to others, even if they disagree with you. Stand up for what you believe in, especially when it comes to your faith. Don't try to seek revenge just because somebody hurt you. Heck, since I grew up in a Christian household, I watched a ton of VeggieTales growing up, and that's how I learned a lot of these lessons (mainly because VeggieTales had entertainment value and catchy songs unlike the church I went to), even if I'm not the best at following them nowadays. All I'm saying is that Christians are teaching people to be kind to others and be good people, while woke people are teaching people to hate others if they're Republicans, straight, white, male, etc. I stand with Scott, as should anyone else who actually cares about accepting others, unlike the woke who use "acceptance" as a rug to hide their mess of hate under.
I honestly believe the progressive radical millennials or edgy atheists only exist (or are so extreme) because they grew up in a Christian household, which had a set of rules and they hated rules. So they’re still acting like teenagers rebelling by being so against it or doing the opposite of what they were told out of spite. Which is why Christianity gets dunked on and other religions are safe. Not because they disagree a God exists, or even than Christianity is more prevalent in their area/country, but because they had to spend a bit of their Sunday mornings elsewhere. They don’t get mad at the 12 year school system that wastes more of their time than church ever could and even more useless to them though. That system somehow is untouchable, likely because they can use it to indoctrinate people much like they felt they were being indoctrinated at church.

People trying to cancel Scott Cawthorn made me want to go back and learn about FNAF's game design and story. It's really amazing that he was able to piece this story together across 6 games, constantly changing the game mechanics and design features. The amount of creativity and thoughtfulness on display is just amazing to me. Here's to Scott, a true artist.

This is the exact same thing that happened to Notch way back in the day. Notch had disagreements about transgender activism, and the Toxic prog fanbase tried to cancel him in his entirely. Using the exact same tactics too, including the cringeworthy "Hatsune Miku created Minecraft" cope. This is what happens when you don't gatekeep the space and lower the bar for entry, the progs invade in force and co-opt everything into their tribe.

@M G Yes and that's exactly what they want. They throw out the accusations to make you get defensive and debate on their terms, where you're forever trying to "prove how innocent" you are. Well, the guy was obviously not a leftist. I mean, he made it because he took criticism well and implemented the advice, instead of moaning about how the world is unfair. Jim Sterling, a video game critic gave a pretty harsh smackdown of one of his previous children's games: the characters were creepy, not friendly. So he took that to heart and remade the game into a horror game, and got instant success.
..and Sterling is still bitter about aiding in his success that he made several hit piece videos about him out of spite.

I think even beyond Notch, there's a value in Scott standing up for himself. Notch was pretty far removed from Minecraft by the time most were trying to cancel him for his opinions, Scott meanwhile seems pretty damn active and vital to his own community as far as continuing to revitalize it with more content. His threat to leave the community carries far more weight than Notch does. Him leaving is just as much a threat to the identity of fans as him staying, and that has a power to it.
