- Ciao everyone! Today I am sharing how to shop your closet for some European street style outfits using the 3 word rule to find your personal style! Specifically, what people are wearing in Croatia. I created some timeless Spring and Summer looks using my travel capsule and wardrobe essentials for Spring and Summer. I hope you like them!
On this channel, I share #slowfashion and #sustainablefashion tips that center around how to #shopyourcloset, and restyling pieces you already own. I’m so thrilled to have come across your channel. I retired from a job in financial services at the end of 2020 and while I’ve made dozens of donation bags full of clothing, I didn’t want to part with every bit of my “corporate uniform”. You’ve inspired me to pair classic blazers with jeans, or with skirts and boots, incorporating old Hermes scarves and even my early 1990s Coach bags. It’s a blast to see these elements in a fresh, new way that allows my own true fashion personality (classic, sporty, and tailored but with a modern twist - like yours, adjusted for the age difference 😄) to shine through. I can’t wait for fall to really get this going with my various suede boots and Loewe bag. I enjoy your videos and have learned a lot since first finding them a few weeks ago. (First one was how to style a wrap dress. OH MY did I learn a lot!) Never a need to apologize for not doing whatever, like posting street style photos. I am a quilter and used to blog, often 2 or 3 times a week. It's exhausting. Writing content, dealing with photos, formatting, etc. I did that for years, had a decent following, felt obligated to keep up the pace... No obligations, Alyssa! Do what you do to please yourself. I second that! Inspired by your videos, I started layering my necklaces, but they always seem to get tangled up with each other (pretty simple gold chains) - if there is a trick to prevent that, I'd love to know :-)
My favorite is the striped button up shirt with floral print skirt. I love the playfulness (one of my words) of the combination.
I love the styling tip of gathering up the skirt a bit. I do this with tops a lot, but now I’m going to try it with my silk skirts, to change up the looks to a bit more casual and sexy style. I love to show off my good legs, in an age-appropriate way, I’m 62, so not too short! I won the genetic lottery for legs, my legs look exactly as they did at 18, a family characteristic. But now they don’t have any hair on them, aging isn’t all bad!
If you have them, flaunt them for me as well. Kinda missing mine from back then ;)
Classic, Modern, Comfortable
Your version of the first look is my favourite! A great mix of masculine and feminine (which is my style preference) and more relaxed than the inspo. And the SKIRT TRICK is so cool! I will definitely try to remember to copy that one. Thank you!

I’ve been playing with my 3 words over the course of a month or so and I think I have finally settled on simple, dramatic & relaxed.

Love all your videos and I find them inspirational. On a recent trip to Italy I wore a scarf as a bustier and as I entered the restaurant my husband pulled at one of the ties asking ‘is this supposed to be like this?’ at which point he loosened said scarf and I almost (but not quite) a hugely embarrassing moment! 😂
Alyssa, loved this video, very good ideas. I use whatever is in my wardrobe, I save a fortune, I play around with tops and skirts, and dresses that I bought in the early 90s.
Which are still in amazing condition..I'm 65 now, I follow tips to look amazing without looking or trying to be over the top. Lovely videos, more please, love from the u.k.xxx

I've been thinking about my three words and I think I have come to: Bold, Playful, and minimal/classic. I always have fun and playful earrings or accessories, a mix of patterns and/or textures however, the shapes of the clothes are simple. The boldness and playfulness come in the colours of clothing, colour blocking, and interesting patterns or textures.

Classic, colorful, comfortable are my three words. I enjoy scarves, like you, however, used in different ways at 77. Always looking for hacks.

CIAO Alyssa, came back ti Guadalajara, Jalisco México. And summer has being awesome back there, instead of the hot anewing summer here. But, I loved the trends you sugest to ware @home, that caky linen pants and cotton are awesome. I hate summer, but those ligted fabrics are sweet and friendly ti ware in California. Also loved wear linen un spring or summer climates, loved your styling advises for this summer. That started earlier this year 😅
CIAO Alyssa, also I'm not a burse fan. Instead I ware souvenir purses that I ware. I have a multicolor purse from Israel and They're are pop of colors included, so is My life styling saver ir My Cabos souvenir purse with beach colors 😂
Another great video! I've been thinking about the three words all week and could only come up with two of them. Timeless and comfortable. However I was at a huge thrift store yesterday, and I was surprised at how helpful those two words were in the shopping process. It was so much faster to peruse the whole store, because it's fairly obvious if a garment isn't going to be comfortable to wear and easy to tell if something is a trend or outdated and whether it will be timeless. There are so many other factors when choosing a garment such as color palette, texture, fit, size, silhouette. So those two words just helped narrow down the garments to try on and I felt very successful when leaving with a pair of boots, denim shorts, black jean jacket and a new top. I love the idea of combining the 3 words from last video with the style elements from inspiration images. And I’m excited to try something similar to the first look, but with fewer colors. More similar to what you created. The hair tie trick on the skirt makes the outfit look sexy, but not over the top. Love it!

favorite look is the scarf and black pants. I didn't thing the off the shoulder blue shirt worked. It just looked wrong. Maybe the white color could pull off the alternate shape of the look. ... what do you think . By the way YOU always look lovely.

All three looks are very creative and beautiful but I was most impressed with what you did with the skirt (the knot).
Oh gosh… we loved Croatia. We drove all over and stayed in a little hill town in Istria, and a couple of villages on the Adriatic, on Rab, and several days in Zagreb. You have to love that Croatian coffee culture. And people looking chic on the street. So happy to see it again through your videos. Plus you now have me tumbling down the “three word” rabbit hole. So fun.
Yes! Yes! The first style with the tricked up skirt! I will try that one! My 3 words are: Classic, flattering, and polished.
Fabulous!!! Your creativity inspires me with some pieces I’ve hung onto because I love them. They never looked quite right, like a black slip skirt with randomly placed & sized polka dots with a bias cut so that it tapered at the hemline & made me look hippy. It looks SO different drawn up a bit! Can’t wait to wear it with a tied button-down now!!!

Je dirais que mes trois mots sont Classic, preppy, et funky mais depuis que j’ai des problèmes de thyroïde j’ai pris du poids et plus rien ne me fait comme avant et le troisième terme serait davantage ‘ cacher ´ ce corps et ces formes que je n’assume pas du tout. Je sais 😞 mais si je veux être honnête c’est la réalité …j’essaie de modifier mon attitude c est difficile et la prise de poids influence notre style n’est ce pas ?
Je remarque aujourd’hui que tes exemples sont toutes des filles minces, je sais que tu ne fais pas cela habituellement mais ma croyance est que tu peux mettre une poche de patates sur ces filles et elles auront toujours du style. I love how you didn’t just copy the looks but figured out the components and then used them to create your looks. So helpful because I would not have figured out how to do that. All looks were great but I really liked your last one vs the original.

Alyssa, I'm packing for a trip to South America, and after watching this video, I decided to bring a satin skirt with me. I chose one with a print of gray and camel on black, and it will go with most everything else I'm packing. I already tried it with a camel cashmere sweater (loved the contrast in sheen and texture) and a white button up tied at the waist. Both look good, thank you for the inspiration!

I enjoy your videos so much! I think Look #1 is my favorite this week. Came up with my 3 words: coastal, sporty, structured. These words work with the vibe and climate of my home (San Diego, CA) as well as with my personality. It seems to me like you have picked up a little Croatia in your style personality!! Maybe address "location" in a video sometime?

I like that you have the word "coastal". The first words I came up with were actually nouns, including "sea", and I developed some ideas from there.

Look number 1 is the only one that would suit me. Too much bare top for me in the other two. But if I was young and slim…..looks like you are having a great time! I just got back from a schooner trip in Maine. Clothes were more Columbia sun shirts and North Face cargo pants. Ball cap, sunnies and lots of 60:SPF! Merrel sandals.

Thank you for the tip on how to create a faux slit on the skirt. Standing at 5’1” petite I’ll definitely be using that trick when my skirts a bit too long

I have been working with a two-word style signature for some time, but I love adding the third to anchor the overall expression. They are "Elevated Eclectic" + Flow.
I would feel so uncomfortable with a shirt pushed down the shoulders or a scarf for a bustier - always had the fear everything falls apart… so yes capsule for me means also that clothes wrap me comfortably. I enjoyed the yr remake cery much. Thks
