God I'd love to have a 4K of Pink Floyds The Wall (1982). The old DVD has aged remarkably well with its transfer and it has a lossless audio track for the theatrical mix which is good.
the first movie i bought was "contact" in dvd...some weeks ago i bought my first 4k movie (e.t. the extra terrestrial 40th anniversary steelbook)...great improvement from dvd to 4k....i own many blurays, but intend to sell the most of them.
I think 4K UHD is enough for me but do I think they need to have much higher storage capacity discs such as up to 1TB to 5TB to help minimise shelf space being taken up to quickly depending on certain collectors who buy alot on a yearly basis but who knows
what we (or i if nobody cares) really need now is better archival disc to be used as the standard, ensuring a rot-free, skipping-free, freezing-free permanent ownership. i will not buy a 4K unless its combo pack. 😢
I really wonder what the next format will be. I don’t know how viable discs will continue to be, as uncompressed files are the next frontier. Basically having the DCP file for viewing at home. Maybe there’ll be a super-disc with a million layers, or something entirely new.
Idk, I honestly find it annoying how every ten years or so now some stupid new format comes onto the market and renders your collection completely obsolete. That process has been going on since the 80s, just think about the amount of money that's essentially wasted collecting some format that's going to be obsolete in a few years. I grew up in the VHS era and really, people got by fine with just VHS and a CRT TV. When people used low-def formats exclusively, they didn't perceive it as low-def, because literally everything was low-def.
@@BraveBladeProductions oh, I do have a question about your ps5, did use the hdmi that came with it, or did you get another one, and if so, where did you get?

That would be amazing.
People really need to stop over relaying on streaming because otherwise they could lose everything.
And most of the time they do.

The upgrade is a nice one indeed.

Fair.

Great idea.

They would have to be something revolutionary considering I don’t know how we could ever get a better format than 4K Blu-Ray.

I understand what you are saying, but you don’t have to upgrade if you don’t want to?
I think 8k could be possible in the near 10 years or so
I think it is very much a possibility.
