I don't see how this is different from the original.
Surprising amount of effort in these designs for a licensed game.
Likely cause this was developed by compile who were famous for their insane shoot ‘em ups like aleste and their work on the puyo puyo series, always loved their takes on the ghosts in this game.

The in-game model of Winston looks like Sammy Davis Jr, lol. :D
My cousin got a Sega Genesis back in the early 90s. This was the game that came with it.
The Silk Hatton Ghost would be cool in live action, especially that freaky cartoonish animal ghost that comes out of it’s hat.

These are some Treasure quality boss sprites. They are way too good for a licensed game.
To think the great staff at Compile who made Puyo Puyo and the Aleste series developed this game. Many of them are now at M2. The monster designs in this game are a cross between Real Ghostbusters, 80’s horror anime and Go Nagai inspired.

This is a hack of the game. If you press right on Egon, you can select Winston who was oddly left out of the originally game.

Apparently his stats do differ. He has balanced stats like Peter, but increased jump height.

There were four Ghostbusters in the movie, not three. That's a good reason.
There's nothing Yankee about it (a word that I don't know what the fuck it means). It's just to "fix" a character that needed to be included in the game, especially because there are four ghostbusters and not three. And in a way there are a lot of people who love Winston in the film.
