TOO SOON? by Sam Ross (creator of the Penicillin & the Paper Plane!)

  • A contemporary cocktail created by Sam Ross of Attaboy, NY. Sam is also the creator of modern classic cocktails such as the Penicillin, Paper Plane and the Conquistador. The Too Soon has similarities to the Enzoni (which I only recently discovered) which is an amaro gin sour.
Featuring bright, fresh citrusy top notes that evolve into bitter citrusy and subtle vegetal flavours courtesy of the Cynar.

I love your channel and hopefully I misunderstood the comment about making another of Sam Ross’ cocktails IF you get 1k likes within 24 hours? I think that the majority is aware of how UA-cam’s algorithms work and the monetary relation between the amount of subs, shares and likes, and how more likes increase the money earned. Your channel is equally entertaining as inspiring as it is, so keep making the cocktails you want to make. If people request you to make a certain cocktail, then it’s your choice to make it or not. However, ultimatums/demands are not very encouraging, but, hopefully I totally misunderstood the comment, and if that’s the case, I’m truly sorry. Keep doing you and awesome cocktails! Stay safe and healthy 😊

Thanks sharing this cocktail recipe Steve! I've tried to enjoy the Campari Negroni but they are just too bitter for my taste. I picked up a bottle of Cynar hoping that a Cynar Negroni would be more suitable to my palate but that didn't work either. This "Too Soon" is just right though! For me this is the perfect balance of sweet / sour / bitter and has me very, very happy that I still have that bottle of Cynar. Maybe this will be my gateway to developing an appreciation for bitter flavors.

    1oz Pisco
    1oz Cynar
    3/4oz Ruby grapefruit juice
    1/2oz Lemon juice
    1/2oz Simple
Garnish with a ruby grapefruit twist

Record a quick 10s video showing it, the "my bar" feature (which i think is the best thing), and put it right before Steve begins the drink. Hi! I Follow the recipe exactly, however my cocktails don't fit the glass entirely (my glass looks the same size of yours) and I'm not sure what I'm done wrong. If we add up the volume of all ingredients we have roughly 120ml, so the rest of cocktails volume comes from ice dilution, right? I Guess I'm not using the correct amount of ice or not shakking long enough, my question is after shakking what is the final volume of a cocktail should be? 200ml? 250? Thks!

    Damn, this sounds really good.
You think this would work with Jägermeister as well? Maybe with a bit less simple syrup. Because I love Jäger in cocktails.

As always great video on a new cocktail. Question: In my area I'm not able to find Cynar. What would you recommend as a substitute for the Cynar?
