He said the drink is still being made to this day but that one exact bottle is what was rare and what was 100 years old AND on top of the age the rarity was increased since the monks who made it were kicked out of France for a little while and they made a few batches in Spain till going back to France and this happened to be a batch made in Spain

Some place in the same area did something like that, a $200 grilled cheese sandwich and there's a video about it on UA-cam, they use some cheese that is made on top of a mountain in italy and they throw champagne and gold leaf into the bread. I looked up the cheese, and you can buy the whole chunk of it for $200, you could basically make an identical sandwich with like five bucks worth of ingredients.
I've worked with few high end wine tasters/ bartenders and I can assure you this guy knows exactly how stupid & pointless this drink is. Lmao

I've bought green Chartreuse. It literally tastes like cough syrup. I cannot imagine what difference has to have occured over the aging of a 100 years in order to make the taste at least tolerant for the blonde lady to drink it pure. I've tried a sip and was gonna throw up. It is vile.
So the most expensive drink is because 60% of the price is from the glass that you are buying. And not the drink it self.
I would be more impressed if it was 5000$ only the drink.

I actually saw another video like that, yes. I believe it was called the 666 Burger. Instead of a paper wrapper it was wrapped in three $100 bills. There seems to be quite a few different foods and drinks that pull the "$10,000 steak, comes with a $5,000 bearer bond" trick.

This isn't just a cash-grab. This is an atrocity. A principled and sane bartender would groom this antique spirit like the unicorn it is, but oh no, not THIS daring madman!
Instead, he tosses it with relatively pedestrian ingredients (a whole bottle of the gin he used costs $700!), homogenising its character, and plops it in fancy crystal to cynically bling up a classic drink, much like a hack artist cutting up a lost Rembrandt to spruce up his collage. And then he has the brazen GALL to call it a 'riff' when his only accomplishment was selling the bottle for five times its cost, knowing full well ordinary Chartreuse would do much the same. What a shame.

We created a gimmicky drink that we could seriously gouge our customers for. They're high rollers and have a lot of disposable income. Our mission is to relieve them of as much of it as we can.

So glad she tasted directly the fancy chartreuse instead of it being in the cocktail. I enjoyed how they talked about the chartreuse process. Chartreuse is maybe my favorite non-standard spirit and I wish they had mentioned that it's 62% alcohol...most gin/whiskey/vodka is in the 45% range.
Last word is a great cocktail, but I have no need to ever pay that much but this was fun to watch!
She gets so enthusiastic after taking one sip that she merrily starts gesturing her hands round and about a crystal drinking glass that costs over 3 grant... that's how you can tell a cocktail is good.

Where was the $5,000 drink? I saw a $260 drink (maybe) in a $3,600 glass. Bearing in mind the cocktail itself was made with regular Chartreuse and she still seemed to enjoy it. I'll rate the measure of ordinary Chartreuse at $10, probably too much. That the other ingredients are worth $250 (for the measured pours, not the bottles) I highly doubt.
I can serve you a $15 drink in a $150 wine glass, anyone? Whether and for what price you get to keep the wine glass we'll discuss after you've had a few cocktails.
