Hey thanks for asking - this is a great question, and it gets right at the heart of why I made this. This is going to sound pretty intense, and I don't want to spread FUD, so feel free to take any amount of salt with this. I'm not a lawyer or a legal professional. Soundfonts ripped directly from games have several layers of risk to them. First, game soundfonts are ripped directly from the game's data, before being re-purposed for personal/commercial use. Those sounds are exclusively owned by companies like Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Spectrasonics, etc. Those sounds are legally licensed to the creators of these games, but not to any person who downloads a soundfont. Every video game soundfont is an illegal duplicate of those manufacturers' proprietary assets. This has a potential impact on their revenue, and big companies don't tend to like that very much. So, using game soundfonts ripped from games is almost definitely illegal. It's true that nobody has really gotten into any trouble for it yet - but I personally wouldn't want to be the first. Especially in this era of copyright bots getting smarter and more overzealous. Finally, I've done a bit of work as a composer for indie games, and the consensus among some established publishers is that they don't want ripped game soundfonts in their games' music for exactly this reason. There are too many layers of potential copyright infringement that nobody wants to be liable for. When it comes to GuyEngine, all of these samples are original. Some of them are made from public domain CC0 samples, but most of them are made with a combination of synthesis, and recordings of my own instruments that I have right here in my home studio. Does it do multitimbrality and pitch bend adjustable to 12 semitones? It'd be the seller for me.
2+- octave transposition would be nice with it. It's for using microtonally with easy lol
Great question. I'm going to be transparent about this so nobody is misled. So under the hood, it does have the capability for multitimbrality built-in, but the UI doesn't reflect it. It's capable of it, but there's no forward way to access it currently unless you access the hidden parameters (not too hard in most daws, but not ideal). It's something I'd consider adding, but it would require a considerable amount of work to get functioning in a more user-friendly manner, so it's not a priority at the moment.
Pitch bending is locked at 2 semitones for the time being. This is a limitation of the framework I used, and not something I'd have chosen. 12 semitones pitch bending would be ideal in my opinion as well. That said, there is customizable glide, mono and portamento for another approach at pitch bending.
