The ariet boots were my gateway into western boots. They are affordable I don't mind beating them up and they comfortable. Now I'm in the hunt for great traditional boots.
I am all traditional all of the time. the leather form fitting to your feet keeps the plantar fasciitis away. I wear em 15 hors a day every day. Unless it's snowing.
I have plantar faciitis and around 16 started having bad pains and problems. Around 18 started wearing cowboy/lineman boots only, I’m now 32 and don’t have any problems and even have a slight arch now
I love this video! I think it helps people to think in terms of how to build a boot collection instead of thinking brand v. brand. You could make yourself a collection of three pairs… one from each of the three spots (modern, middle, and traditional) for starters.
Nice video JC! Love the rundown! It would be nice if your reviews used this scale. I know you say it, but placing any given boot on this scale would be awesome! Lucchese has definitely made middle of the road and attempted modern.
Can you please do a video on the most traditional boots still being made? Brands in addition to hondo. I know Chisos is more traditional besides the removable insole. This would be so helpful because it is getting harder to find truly traditional boots
Very cool video, i like the style and discussion. I guess the Hondo 7875 would be somewhere in between full traditional and the middle. Prefer full traditional at this point, but there are definitely benefits of a rubber sole here in the Northeast during winter.
Cool video. I prefer traditional to “modern” (cheap) because traditionals like my Lucchese ropers will last 5 times more than a pair of cheap Ariats.... But I don't doubt Ariat boots are very comfortable!
My one pair of western boots are Ariat Rigteks. I wanted to try a pair of work boots that weren't big and heavy, like the Chippewa logger boots I was wearing.
I think some modern boots are great for working in and just beating on but I love the tradition boots and how they fit around my feet just nothing beats traditional
You would be surprised how much some hott water and 91%alcohol it help shrink leather. If a vamp is a little too lose I’ll spray it pretty god and let them sit, and it’s done the trick many times. I’ve also used the trick to shrink some parts on a leather jacket that were a hair to big.
I like and wear both. I prefer vintage traditionals. They look like cool with an aged petina. Suggestion/question: Have you ever done a video in boots and dress pants? One for those of us who wear boots to the office.
I would like to get a pair of traditional boots like the Hondo but I need a 14EE and a lot of the traditional boots only go to a 13. The one thing that’s sucks about being a big guy.
The only boots i wear are los altos and tecovas. The heel counter is infact leather just like a traditional made boot, so you were mistaken on that part. The only things not "traditional" about los altos is the leather topped slightly padded insole, and also like you said they don't have the channeled welt. Besides that they are completely traditional. Main point im getting at is los altos and tecovas are about as traditional as it gets without being 100%. So id have them between traditional and middle, definitely not completely inbetween
They use plastic or celastic heel counter. There's nothing wrong with any of these being where they are on the scale. They all have their purpose and pros and cons. Los Altos and Tecovas may look traditional but they are in the middle which is cool. Nothing wrong with that.
According to los altos the heel counters are leather. Thats what it says on the websites and the tag that comes with the boots. Im not gonna tear open a boot to check. But either they're lying or you are mistaken. Love your content.
Hey could you do a review of the Boulet boot 9293. I have been looking at buying that boot but can't find any reviews of it and I love doing research before buying something. Please and thank you
I wear a pair of peanut brittle lizard Justins I bought in 1993. They still look new. They are traditionally made and it shows. Would Ariats last as long and look the same? I doubt it.
Im a try to somehow send u some of my songs that ive recorded on my flat top on reaper. God bless brother. Keep picking and strummin and keep the boot videos coming .
I have a pair of Laredo Snakeskins that was made back in the 80s. That was back when they didn’t cut corners on their boots like they do now. All traditional
I prefer traditionals because I trust them more that they don't go cheap at critical places. I was using a traditional (all-leather, wooden-nails etc...) pair for 8 years (continously) and the heel counter is still perfect. I have a pair of modern laced boot too and its plastic heel counter cracked in 4 years. @Jeremiah, have you ever thought of creating a video of the European (Spanish) brands like Sancho, Sendra, Mayura or do you just buy Americans? Have you ever tried these brands?
I've had a two pair of the modern Ariat bantam weight ventek. For comfort they are hard to beat however I tend to wear one edge of the heel off in a about a year rendering them junk as you can't easily fix it, also I don't care for the fact the paint comes off the sole. I feel like at about $200+ they probably aren't the best value for me as I wear them daily. I'm saving now for some Anderson Bean or some other more traditionally made boot.
How do I get into the Hondo boot giveaway? I’m new to channel here. Love your videos. Can’t watch enough of them. I’m in market for new pair of boots and I’m not sure what I want but your videos are helping me narrow it down.
As mentioned in the video description, this segment was part of a live stream back in November 2021. The Hondo give away was back then. As the channel keeps growing Hopefully there will be more coming. Glad you are loving the content and good luck on your boot hunt. If you haven't already feel free to join the Facebook group.
Hey Daniel! Sorry but this giveaway was back in November and this segment was from the love stream portion of that. I should've made that clearer in the video. Be sure to sub so you can get in on the next giveaway!
I love your luseltoboots on the top left of you. I have a pair similar to them but they're more pointy, plus have silver toe caps and silver heel guards. I think mine are possibly cobras
Always enjoy your informative videos. Assuming a traditional made boot like Black Jack fits well what are the advantages to spending the money for a custom boot that goes for a thousand dollars and up for a basic leather like bull hide. Some of the boot makers you interview talk about fit and and quality compared to the lesser quality boots but how do they compare to a Hondo for example.
More attention to detail in custom boots and plus custom boot makers will measure your foot in nearly a dozen different places and literally make the boots just for you. That's the real value in custom boots. It's all in the fit!
@@JeremiahCraig Agreed I'm actually on the waiting list for a pair from Steve of Perrincreek boots. Thought it might make for an interesting video. If a well made pair of boots that are broken in to your feet are any less comfortable.

I tried to get some Tecovas from their new CA store, but they don't seem to be ready to properly serve customers yet. Maybe I will give them another try in a few months. For now, I'm really liking the Lane boots...likely in the middle construction I imagine.
