I love buying used boots on eBay. Don’t get me wrong I buy new boots too but there is somthing about wearing a used boot that has seen things that I may never see just being able to wear somebody’s history kind of makes me happy
In the last six months, I have bought a lot of boots on eBay and a lot of them that I purchased are excellent. In the beginning I bought two pair Dan post boots at a store full price but after listening your commentary on looking for boots on the budget I purchased boots on eBay like j.b. Boot ,J Chisholm boot, imperial boot, Texas brand, yeehaw cowboy boot, then I saw them on eBay for $200 and I bought four pairs. Some of the other boots I got there 100 to under 100 and they all great boots. Thank you very much for that advice Pete.
I'm glad to hear your stance on abilene boots I did some research on reviews and it was a very hit and miss brand it seemed like I've had opportunity to pick some up and pasted cause I didn't feel it was gonna be worth my money. But I will try a pair out and see how they hold up.... I really put wear on my boots since I only wear cowboy boots I rotate but even quality brands of mine take a beating.
I purchased a pair of double H phantom rider work boots for just about 200 dollars, they are the most comfortable shoes I own and they have composite toe so great for work as well 👌
I've had Abilene boots since the early 90's, always wore good, and lasted years. my "new" pair was purchased in 2018 and still look good. The big plus is American made
I have a pair of Larado distressed boots. Less than $200. Very comfortable. Its the roper heel because I have bad knees. Your videos helped me find the right size. They are round toe. Thank you for great informational videos
My boot collection currently consists of 5 pairs: Hondo, Laredo (2x), Abilene, and Nocona. Noconas were just over $200 and were a closeout deal and then my Hondos were $200 used from a fellow Jeremiah Craig follower! My first pair of boots was a HH model for $150 about 15 years ago and they lasted for years, even though i knew nothing about conditioning at that point. Same for the pair of Justins i bought not long after. Love my black Laredos and my brown Abilene boots, perfect for not-so-great weather with rubber soles. My only complaint with Laredo is that one pair I have seems to.have broken the shank and now they squeak when i put pressure on them. My local boot repair shop couldn't fix them, so i don't wear those anymore. Unfortunate, but my others are awesome!
what in tarnation, I just came across this video and I live like... 30 minutes from York, NY lol. I was shook when you said that's where you got your first under $200 boots.
I have yet to try ariat, chiso, or tecovas but i cant wait to try a pair of them. Honestly personaly i like leather insoles so manmade insoles usually are a turn away for me.
I've worn most of the boots on this list. I purchased Ariat Terrains for riding. They fit great and they're comfortable. What's more, they double as a hiking boot. I wore these for a 10 day, 150 mile horseback safari in South Africa and they're amazing. Half the people there (coming from all over the world) had the same boot and for good reason. Not sure how the other brands stay in business.
Two days ago I scored a beautiful pair of vintage black label Tony Lama pythons at an antique mall. Price? $35. 🤷🏼♀️ Needed conditioning badly, poor things, but I wore them all day today and they’re great!
I live in Europe and it is very hard to get a good fit. I have a pair of Sendra boots and they had to be streched a bit by a cobler. Here they don't have half sizes and no different widths. I actually wear 8,5 D and I can get either 8 or 9 and the width is around C. But I was lucky enough to find a seller who was offering a dozen pairs in my size, american made. Most brand new or barely worn. I got a pair of Laredo, a pair of Olathe, and two pairs of Tony Lama. I am just thinking about getting two more pairs from them, one by Tony Lama and one Justin. They are also all pretty different in color and texture. They also have rounded toe which I prefer instead of the pointy toe :)
I bought my very first pair of cowboy boots for $35. A pair of Justin ropers from 1996 and I still wear them almost every day. I gotta get em resoled though because I’ve worn the sole through
I was in Houston recently. Went to Cavender’s Boot City. Bought a pair of Ariat ‘Boss Man’ sport boots $179.00 retail. Liked the looked and fit. they’re comfortable and breaking - in nicely. Breaking in quicker than my Ariat Hertage Ropers.
My favorites are these; Cavender's women's brass with black crystals fabric inlay square toe cowboy boots (made in partnership with Old Gringo). Yes, I just picked these ones up as my first everyday wear non safety square toe boot, that are truly leather inside and out save for obviously the stitching and black crystal inlay and the cushion under the leather insole. I've always had the Ariat fatbaby heritage dapper, and Laredo round toe boots plus my Redwing composite tuff toe boots and Durango square steel toe boots. I've been watching Jeremiah's videos on leather boots with no textile materials and decided go to Cavender's again and got the; see first pair; as I'm slowly trying to move away from as much textile materials as I possibly can plus, as I found out, the true leather boots usually run true to size than the boots made of textile materials mixed with the leather. And as I've concluded, the leather is way more comfortable on my feet as with normal shoes/boots I have to wear arch supports or 3d printed insoles with arch supports; see Redwing. The leathers were even comfortable straight out of the box and very little break in where the boots, save for my Redwings' and Durango's, had to be really broke in. And as with any boot made of leather, they need to be cleaned, conditioned, and if you want some form of water resistance- use mink oil or a silicone type spray. The Cavender square toes I got for 194.75 (I did do the survey from my last purchase and got 10% off). One day, I intend of either trying to get intouch with our one custom boot maker down in Denver or fly out to somewhere like Texas and have a pair custom made.
thank you so much for this video! i actually love a square toe but i also dont ride horses, i fully understand your reasoning! agreed that finding a nice leather sole is tricky. sending good vibes this evening from utah!
Hi, I'm over in the UK and all my boots are secondhand, real bargains, none cost more that £30. Looking over your shoulder at that black pair and wondering what they are, they look great?
I am a Lucchese guy but I have 4 pairs of Ariats. I just bought a new pair of double down caiman belly boots from Ariat. They are incredible for the money. With my Veterens Day 20% discount they were just over $400.00. I recommend them whole heartedly. Ariat has the comfort part of boots licked. They are almost as comfy as my Lucchese's. I'm getting ready to order a pair of Lucchese Charles Ultra Belly Caiman in black cherry. No other company does black cherry like Lucchese. I will let you know how I like them.
Hey J, It been a long time since I’ve posted any comments. BUT, still a huge fan and LOVE your videos. Can you PLEASE do a review on Top Notch / Real Cowgirl boots? Maybe mid to high price range?
Not surprised Ariat got so many votes. Most everyone that wears them here all have Ariat and I own two pair myself. There actually isn't anything wrong with my first pair. Just my first pair were pointed toe and they started to hurt my feet. I bought a pair of square toed boots and just haven't looked back. I get that if you want that western look that pointed toe give you that more iconic look but the square toed boots are just so much more comfortable. My second pair also are steel toe which at work I am always banging up my toes in some fashion or the other and they have saved my feet so many times. They were actually a half size too big but I get a lot of bang for the buck. I am on a concrete floor for around 10 hours a night and the only real wear I get is where I bang up my toes and the heel gets a little rounded on the end from walking but I had them for about a year and they are in good shape too. Of course I do clean them with saddle soap and treat them with mink oil. Then I take out the insoles and put some copper work insoles in them changing them out often. I only work at a gas station but being on that floor 10 hours on your feet working is a lot harder on shoes them some might realize. Ariat boots have been real good to me. I wear them both at work and everyday use. I even go hiking in them. The only break they get is I don't use them when mowing to keep all the grass off them.
Hey Jeremiah I just bought my pair of custom boots. Um they are a bit loose at the heel, like my heel goes up an inch above the insole below and it's very awkward. Sorry if im saying something which is stupid but I've heard heel slip is good and my foot will form to it or something but it makes me feel my boots are loose, even the toe box extends from my toes. Please is there anything I can do to fix this or should I let it be this way. Sorry for the rant.
I bought a pair of Boulet harness boots round $250. I wanted a pair of Chippewa Harness boot or engineer boots, was told they stopped making boots. I even was waiting for Red Wing harness boot, at the last minute Red Wing pulled the plug on them. Red Wing stopped engineer boots years ago. Maybe have a video of boots under $300. to $250. I need boots that will hold up to motorcycle riding and cutting firewood. Thanks
People always ask what boots I'm wearing, I've been wearing the same 2 pairs of Laredo cowboy boots for the past 15 years. Definitely can last the farm life and riding in all weather, so it's been a pass in my books. Lifetime customer here unless the quality changes.
So I mainly buy used boots tbh I love vintage boots the most I've ever payed for boots are my wrangler elephants for 100 and my sanders shark I payed 70 for. I have 16 pair I have mostly have tony lama, justin and dan post. I recently got 3 boots for 30$; justin deer, dan post elk and dingo pig skins and I love all of them they aren't even broke in they barely have any wear on the outsoles. Thank you for this, I have timb pros that i wear in the shop that get all fucked, but I just got a pair of Justins for outside of work work, good to know they’ll last a line.
My pair of Ferrini Cowhide Boots was not well made. PU Leather Shaft and nails that are now rosty. I bought them 5 Years ago on Amazon on sale from 149 Dollars for 60 Dollars. Now after 5 years they starting falling apart. For 60 Dollars it was OK let it last how long it last. The best way for me is buy used Boots. There I found my Lucchese and real Exotics.

See, I fit EW boots and ariat just doesn't fit me. I get the right size for toe space but way too much space in the back of the heel. Can't stand feeling like walking around wearing flip flops. For some reason laredo's fit just right, even the steel toe work boots. If anyone has a us brand option that fits the same, let me know.
Boot Barn made a mistake by lowering the amount of Ariats they stock. I don't care if they are made in China. A good boot is a good boot. They are good boots. Better than about any another boot in their price range. Do those U.S. based businesses really care about you?
Good boots last decades (perhaps a lifetime of you take care of them and your use) I think used boots are the only good option at under $200, great booys made in US or Mexico cost $500+ (The hell with boots made in China)
Don't throw your money away on any of these brands. Save and get into some Anderson Bean boots. NOT Horsepower. Anderson Bean. They will last you a lifetime rather than a year at best with these bargain brands.

Under $200 dollars, lightly used boots are the answer for a good quality boot, especially in nontraditional boot wearing places.
These types of videos are especially helpful to educate people about what brands are available to purchase at certain price points.
