How to Flush or Drain a Water Heater | Step by Step DIY Electric Water Heater Draining
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- This concept is the exact same for a gas heater. Simply turn off the gas or electric before operating.
To begin, turn off the power at the breaker (if electric). Turn off the water at the water heater. Open a hot water faucet to ensure air pockets can escape and the water drains from the lines. Hook up the garden hose to the bottom of the heater and run it outside or to a drain. Open the water drain valve and let the water flow out. Should there be any clog, try kinking the hose at different areas, including at the base of the water heater, to try to release any build up that may be causing the clog.

My wife insists I apologize for our child’s messy playroom, but look folks, we’re not perfect and that’s how it looks sometimes. I make no apologies but can admit I probably should have picked up a little bit lol
Nobody but you has mentioned that the water hose could clog with sediment and other videos should too . VERY GOOD JOB.
Thank you. It wasn’t flushing so I thought it had somehow done something wrong, but it was a big clog!
Nice video. Not too long but detailed enough to get it done
That is great advice. Thank you 😊😊
What's up bro ! Question Aren't we supposed to open the pressure valve while flushing ? Then try to pump some vinegar in through the valve at the bottom after the tank is empty , shut the pressure valve then fill up the tank halfway with the water and let it sit for like two hours ?
Then turn the cold water back on and let it fill and while it's almost full then turned the flush valve back on and let it keep doing it stink for like 15 minutes what's the water still filling the tank ?
I'm at a hotel so it's much different than a home , worried about air pockets ! I've flushed tankless hot water heater so this is much different just asking need to know thanks bro ..
Maybe. I’m not sure about the vinegar, but opening the faucet acts as the pressure relief valve. And yes you could fill it a bit and flush again a few times to clear everything
Do you have let the hot water in the water heater cool down before draining or no?
Nah, I don’t remember it being alarmingly hot or anything while draining!
@@TheDIYrealtor ok cool I was just concerned I would affect the tank if I didn’t let it cool down
When can I turn the faucet off?
Once the flow of water is steady and back to a normal stream. You’ll know it because the spurting and air from the faucet will completely stop.
Do you turn on the breaker once the faucet returns to normal?
