In this one Sebastian is singing about his friend Steven Adler (former Guns N Roses drummer) battle with drugs. Fortunately Steven is still around and performing :)
Steven is indeed still alive and well, and clean for more than a decade now. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting him backstage and seeing his band perform two nights in a row in May 2019 (Penn's Peak, PA followed by the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, MD). He was super cool, laid back, and welcomed my friend and me by greeting us both with a big, friendly hug as if he had known us for years and seemed genuinely happy to meet us and spend some time together...a cherished memory I shall never forget!
@@michellec2514 yeah Michelle that's why Steven isn't in the band anymore because they didn't think he could handle it with the tour and everything and since Steven was released from the band most of the others left too well alot of it was because of axls power trip wanting full control over the bands music and merchandise and every legal issue with the band as well
Powerful song. Quicksand Jesus and In a Darkened Room are a couple others that have substance. Skid Row was more than the typical hair band of that era.

Sebastian Bach, the best hard rock voice of the era in my opinion. First "heavy metal" band to have their album debut at number 1 on the Billboard. That album was Slave to the Grind and I can still listen to it today, 30 years after it came out, front to back without skipping a song. They took a chance thatvyou didn't see a lot and came out with their sophomore album WAAAAY heavier than their debut album. So far, you really haven't picked a song that ROCKED IT HARD. Try "Youth Gone Wild" their debut single, or "Monkey Business" or "Slave to the Grind" to hear Sebastian nail hard rock vocals.
That Album still rules. Considering grunge and alternative were the huge thing at the time, they were one of the few "hair metal" bands to transition to the 90's amidst a huge change in tone in rock music in general
At one time, "horse" was slang for "heroin". So when he talks about the "horse stampedes, it rages in the name of desperation" I imagine it's about the control heroin has over its users.

Man I love this song. If you want something from Skid Row that isn't a ballad I can HEARTILY RECOMMEND either Monkey Business or Slave To The Grind. Hard, fast and powerful tracks that showcase Sebastian Bach's incredible voice to the max.
Soooooo So happy y'all are finally doing more Skid Row!! This is such a powerful and sad song, but Sebastian's voice is amazingly haunting in this song!!

Definitely one of the most intense and powerful songs Skid Row did. I promise they do have a lot of fast-paced songs, you just haven’t heard them haha. If you want to hear them rock, check out their first single “Youth Gone Wild” or “Monkey Business.” And I never noticed it before but I do hear the Hotel California vibe in the beginning!

I understand the frustration of dealing w/ someone who is an addict or recovering addict... it's tough cos they are messed up and u can't be near them cos they are like black holes - they suck u into their chaos of self-destruction. Having shared living spaces w/ alcoholics, every day I came home from work, there's always a problem... when u confront them, they get defensive, agitated and attack you! And you can't convince an addict that they have a problem. I recall Jamey Jasta, lead vocalist of the band Hatebreed, saying he tried helping friends, bandmates, etc. struggling w/ addictions... spent thousands of dollars on rehab services, counseling... and ended up losing their friendships anyway. It was a bitter pill to accept that people are beyond help. Lou 'Boulder' Richards (former Hatebreed guitarist) was a perfect example - he died in 2006 @ age 35 after leaving the band in 2002. Both Paul Gray (bass) and Joey Jordison (drums) from Slipknot lost their lives... it's tragic when poor health & addictions end a talented musician's life 😪
One of my fave tracks from this album for sure !!! Also the title tracking Monkey Business too ...... shame they are not touring as the original lineup ....
The lead singer's name is Sebastian Bach (presumably taken from German classical composer Johann Sebastian Bach). Their heyday came near the end of the "hair-metal" era of the 80s, debuting in 1989. They kind of faded away after their second album (due to the advent of grunge, which pretty much put an end to hair metal), but there are a few more songs you should check out. "Youth Gone Wild" is a banger, as is "Monkey Business" and "Slave to the Grind". And I will add my vote to everyone who is suggesting Cinderella's "Nobody's Fool", as well as adding "Round and Round" by Ratt and "Cum On (Feel the Noize)" by Quiet Riot. THAT was some hair metal!
His real name is actually Sebastian Beirk that’s why he choose Bach. Prob also has something to do with the composer. Only Sebastian knows that answer 100%

Except "I remember you" is also a Skid Row song, not a Cinderella song lol.
His real name is actually Sebastian Beirk that’s why he choose Bach. Prob also has something to do with the composer. Only Sebastian knows that answer 100%
@@dickthedorkwing6082 Oh SNAP. THanks. Need my brain meds.
@@Shrykespeare lol, no problem. I do the same thing too now and then. Age has a funny way of making one a bit forgetful now and again. (and I'm only in my 40s 👍)
@@dickthedorkwing6082 I got you by a few years then. I left my 40s behind 3 years ago.
My favorite Skid Row. Thank you.
Skid Row is awesome. Please react to Cinderella - "Don't Know What You Got".
A classically trained voice that could shatter glass.
Sebastian Bach is still just a beautiful man and incredible singer.
OH OH OH... now you gonna see some of Sebastians vocals... this is gonna be crazy.. ty for doing it.
Vocals- Sebastian Bach
Lead and rhythm guitars/ backing vocals- Dave "Snake" Sabo
Rhythm/lead guitar, backing vocals- Scotti Hill
Bass/backing vocals- Rachel Nolan
Drums- Rob Affuso
This is the original/classic lineup.
Fun facts: Bach also spent 10 years on Broadway, and was a regular on Gilmore Girls. Also did a VH1 reality show with Ted Nugent called SuperGroup. And so very beautiful back in the day.
Sebastian was gorgeous back in the day. I saw him live on stage and such a showman.
With his voice he could have been a hard rock legend
If you want another amazing voice, You have to give STEELHEART with "I'll Never Let You GO" a listen to. The vocals on that song are next level.
Yep, I just mentioned Steelheart, they will be speechless!
"She's Gone" is a masterpiece as well
Steelheart will blow you away!
@@slimslamfl I've hear Miljenko Matijević out side of Steelheart and his voice is insanlt great. Check out Hallelujah - amazing range.
@@jeremiahrose4681 Besides I'll Never Let You Go, Steelheart has some other great tunes like Everybody Loves Eileen, She's Gone and Late For The Party.
I agree with previous comment, Cinderella was great their whole album night songs worth checking out!👍
Went through three cassette copies... Lol
Monkey Business, Big Guns, Piece of Me , all bangers. Must next…..
Y'all are good at picking up on various details in the songs you react to!
Please, please give Cinderella, Bad seamstress blues a listen. No one has reacted to this awesome song.
Don't Know Watcha Got is an 80's classic, for sure.
Check out nobody's fool
Somebody Save Me
Shake Me
Push Push
I actually wore that cassette album out 🤣 Had to buy another copy.
ANY Cinderella. Have seen them a total of four times for three albums. One word: Amazing.
I love that song sooo much!!!!
When I got back from Desert Storm, this was the first cd I bought, and I bought a new stereo. When I listened to Slave to the Grind...so did everyone else in the barracks. This is by far my all time favorite skid row song 31 years later, and it still gives me chills.
Love you guys, found you a bit ago and you have a great taste in music. Have enjoyed you, and have much respect for teachers. Keep it up. Just a suggestion, if you want your mind blown check out steelheart I'll never let you go. You won't regret it. Keep doing what you are doing, not just on this channel but in life. Keep helping those kids. Much appreciated
Second!!! Been working on that one for a hot minute, lol. Mili will blow their pants off!
She's Gone is just slightly better
@@dalefleming6427 need to do both!!

Just the pipes on that song alone still amazes and boggles my mind. Like " how the hell can you go THAT high?"

SKID ROW is F'ing awesome
Get into some KIX - Don't Close your Eyes, Cold Blood and Blow My Fuse. ALL are great and one with that classic rock ballad.
Addiction is a beast man . Ive gotten clean but my best friend since a kid is still struggling hard . I messaged him this song the other day to see if it would make him see . Doubt it . But he knows what its about . We grew up with this stuff . It breaks my heart . I got tears rolling right now
Love this song. So much. ❤️
Whew…my favorite Skid Row singer.
Thank you for doing this song!! Its so significant for me. Too many lost friends to addiction. Song hits home. Btw i know where y'all are from by your shirts .. I'm an Okie too so...haha! 😁
Johnnie Ray was a 1950's rhythm & blues/pop singer/songwriter and pianist with a very unique, powerful and beautiful voice. His "When It's Springtime In The Rockies" and "Cry" are 2 of his great hits that will blow you away. He was almost totally deaf by the time he reached his teens and performed with 2 hearing aids.
