      Hi Ola. Just wondering out loud to myself, and figured I would ask the question here. Will there ever be the option to order a guitar from Solar, with optional upgrades? Specifically Im interested in the Floyd Rose equipped guitars. Like, how hard would it be logistically to have an optional upgrade to a full German made Schaller Floyd vs a Floyd Rose 1000 ? Naturally paying extra for the upgrade? I'm just curious if this could be a thing, or if its to hard. I wonder how many customers would even want the option. I don't know. I'm just a gumby watching your vids, and loving them I might add.

    I have the sustainiac in my Jackson DK2S, it can sustain low notes making it sustains like a cello. It can beef up the sustain of power chord and palm mutes, creating the illusion of higher gain while retaining all of the articulation. I no longer need to kick on boost pedals or use compressor to add sustain for leads. Wise move ola.

    Man, you HAVE TO BE the first guitar company owner to put both Evertune and Sustainiac together in a single serial-produced guitar. I'm buying one if that's ever happening.

    • @EemeLamsi
      @EemeLamsi 2 роки тому +38

      @RocketJuan I think very possible because sustainiac is basically just a pickup and evertune is bridge part so they go to different "slots". However sustainiac is much more useful with floyd rose style bridge so probably wouldn't sell well. Cheapest alternative might be to just buy evertune solar and install sustainiac if you really want both

    • @IvanEinstein
      @IvanEinstein 2 роки тому +6

      For recording it still would be nice to have the sustainiac on a evertune setup. Here's hoping he does it on a seven or even better the 29" scale!

    • @9hk38f
      @9hk38f 2 роки тому +9

      @@EemeLamsi Nothing cheap about buying a sustainiac, and having it installed! They have to reroute everything, and do drilling and cuts in the wood. It’s very complicated and expensive. 100% best to buy a guitar, that already has a sustainiac.

    • @9hk38f
      @9hk38f 2 роки тому +5

      @@IvanEinstein What’s so appealing about Evertune? As far as I was explained, it just means you don’t have to tune your guitar. Tuning your guitar takes 30 seconds. As far as I understand, evertune doesn’t enhance sound, or playability at all. Definitely a cool concept. But is it REALLY worth it? Just so you don’t have to tune your guitar for 30 seconds?

    • @EemeLamsi
      @EemeLamsi 2 роки тому

    Never thought I would hear a Sustainiac when being played in a clean, reverberated tone.

  • @fjk1138
    @fjk1138 2 роки тому +9

    Sustainiacs are good for what they are designed for, but there is a trade off. The humbucker neck position basically operates as a single coil when the Sustainiac is not engaged and there is a severe drop in volume when playing clean. If all you play is metal on that guitar, then it works great.

    • @johnnybullseye3622

      There should be a tiny circuit board in the tone knob compartment on the back of a sustainiac equipped guitar that has 3 tiny knobs on it for adjusting the volume, and strength of the sustainiac and overall volume in single coil mode.
      They can be way louder than you expect.

    Very interesting Ola. have an E-bow and I think it is great. After using it I realized that they are used on a LOT of recordings. I’ve only seen one used live once, The National, not a band you’ll. hear discussed on this channel. Lol . An Ebow has a fairly steep learning curve to get notes to start cleanly on cue and or activate the string you want without making unwanted noises. This seems a lot more controllable and forgiving also a huge plus is that it’s activating all the strings not just one. Thanks for the great video

    Nice system, I still have an original american built Kramer sustainer. I think they were one of the first ones with a sustainer option, it works different though, the entire neck vibrates. Cool pickup though.

      There isn't really a way to buy one direct unless you find one used somewhere...and even then...it's pretty tricky to wire one of these things. I would just buy a guitar with one already loaded. Sorry if you wanted Ola to answer you directly...just letting you know what I've come to find.

      I remember being able to go to their site and them having an install service. I was looking into buying one of these just a year ago and did a ton of research on it. From what I gathered you can only get these in guitars made with it, or buy one directly from Sustainiac themselves.
      There's also another brand called Fernendes that make a great sustainer as well. Steve Vai uses them so you know they're good lol. Honestly idk alot about the Fernandes models. Might be worth checking into though.
      Easiest and cheapest option is just buy an ebow. Hopefully this helps a little.

  • @Bob-of-Zoid

    Those are great fun! Even the Fernandes Sustainer although slightly less capable is sweet if used within it's capabilities, and no, it's not "Cheating", just an expansion of the instruments capabilities like most effects.

    From memory the sustaniac is a single coil and the “humbucker” is just a housing to allow it to fit in guitars with humbucker cut outs. Unless it’s an updated generation I’m sure the sustaniac pick up is just the single coil neck pick up as well.
