I accidentally put two paf pro bridge pickups on my guitar before I knew better. It’s still my favorite guitar! Great pickups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing how much having a rhythm section rooted in R&B changes the feel. Brilliant... but what else to expect with Nathan East and the exceptional Steve Ferrone on drums.
I starting listening to steve vai back in 1998, i was shocked at what i was hearing the first time i heard pasion and warfare. It Changed the way i aproached the guitar in everyway. The jazz, r&b rhythms, and amazing soloing. Everysong was an experience.
Oh man you made my day! Thanks for bringing this jewel. I was looking for it during many years!. I recorded this performance the day it was done, but during 90's I lost the VHS tape. Then I searched for it over the years over the internet without luck. Since It was removed from the normal EXPO92 emissions was almost impossible just the people record it could have it. For me this is the best performance of this song done by Steve over the years. Could be possible to get a better quality?, I know is difficult but if we could improve some way it would be really good. Maybe trying to bring more FPS. If I could help let me know. Many thanks for this! :)
This was almost 30 years ago, holy shit. And the thing about Steve is he's become even more disciplined in his live playing. This is a monster performance that almost no one could replicate, but for "today" him it's pretty sloppy. In a way it's actually charming.
I respectfully disagree. This was Steve Vai at his very best, in his hay day! His technique back then was incredible. He stopped practicing so much on his technique as he got older. (He admits it himself)
@@jazznotes3802 He also had that arm thing where he said after going to some sketchy hospital while on tour trying to get an IV in him multiple times and some weird stuff getting in his arm that his alternate picking was never the same as his old days and he had to focus on using his legato style more.
@@DeathBringer769 Oh yeah, true. I remember hearing him talk about this in a interview. I think said he had some infection when he was in Brazil or somewhere and was shifted into some disgusting third world hospital. Said they were sticking all sorts into him lol. Yeah, his right hand suffered nerve damage or something as a result of this experience.
@@jazznotes3802 Totally agreed - Whilst this performance might not seem as polished - it very likely didn't have the rehearsals he has before going out on tour, his playing and attitude was a lot more fun.... The band he put together with Mike Keneally , Philip Bynoe, Dave Weiner, and Mike Mangini was incredible - and one of the most fun bands to watch....They mostly stuck to the music with the odd fun and silly moments between songs - The attitude song alongside Mike Keneally was a real stage performance... Most importantly back then Steve put on a show for the sake of the music he had written.....In all the shows for the past 15 years or so that I've seen - possibly everything post Ultra Zone? - He makes every 4-5 minute piece up to 20mins long with a 15 minute random jam in the middle which totally destroys his own compositions so they never elevate the audience quite the same..... Steve was one of the best at elevating the room to the point everyone was on a high.....sadly now his shows get a little boring... I've always wanted to see a Mike Keneally / Beer for Dolphins gig!!...
Masterpiece. Steve Vai is a legend.

Remember the Expo92 guitar festival in Seville watching it on TV. Got it all on VHS somewhere. Joe Satriani put a good set on too
Joe Walsh.

Passion and Warfare

The one and only.
Who cares about Rick Wakeman... Nathan East on bass baby!!
His back up band were all famous musicians,
Looks like Clapton’s band from that same era.
Steve Ferrone on drums and I think Nathan East on bass

I also lost my VHS! What a festival in Seville. I remember how Steve was amazed looking at Paco de Lucía, Tomatito and other Spanish guitarrists.
Still in his Whitesnake dress/stage moves.
I loved his Whitesnake look

It was on Satellite dish. I watched it live.
Yes, on Spanish TV, because the concert took place in Sevilla.
Gracias. Lo andaba buscando desde hace tiempo.
Genial concierto.
jesus!!! the drumer and bass are running the song hahahahaha. but steve is so coool he doesnt matter.
