#SteveVai #HardRock #TheBoyFromSeattle
he needs to play more of this kind of music
Truly magic
Watch the new "Candle Power"
yeah clean sound and style
This is a tribute to Hendrix with a lot of triads. The dvd commentary really helps to appreciate this album.
Which dvd?
@@bicknaynard Alien Love Secrets
This song is pure genius. I bet Jimi would be honored.
If Jimi were still here, I bet he and Steve would be trading licks, and Steve would dazzle Jimi…but still go home kicking himself cos Jimi’s just so freakin’ brilliant.
Anyways, yeah he probably would be honoured; he deserves this tune.
@@MusicissuperiorEVHROX316sounds about right!
My favourite clean tone ever.
Não sei bem o que disse mas concordo!! Brazil!!
Sounds like single coil
@@lebbihhaey709 It was recorded with a MIJ Fender Strat.

It’s just beautiful
It's interesting to note that this was a tribute to the boy from Seattle ...Jimi Hendrix!
The song sounds heaven until you sit down to learn it. Vai simply starts where others have left.
This performance needs so many more views! The world needs to see amazing music like this!
Steve Vai Rules
This song is good feeling. Much positive vibes.
Those moves though 💙🕺🔊
Yeah, his dancing’s gotten pretty good
This is what I call a good instrumental song. When i listen the main melody with my eyes closed, i can imagine Seattle... the lakes, the weather, the cold... Mr. Vai, you're a genius :)
It's like warm summer rain, love it!
Unlike a lot of virtuosos, Vai showed he understands harmony and the space that sits between rhythm and melody. It's a great song.
I like it when he plays lead and rhythm at the same time, just like Hendrix. Well, this was a tribute to Hendrix.
Now I want to learn to play the song. :D
Absurd how great this song is.My favorite Vai tune.
Song recorded with a squier stratocaster Japan.
Quite difficult to get this tone with stock Ibanez Jem series.
@@bagaswahyuillahi6009 no. Just use middle pickup and thats pretty much does the sounds. Not hard at all
this is true. Vai admitted this in his Alien Love Secrets DVD and he said that the strat he recorded it with was stolen. That if I could remember it right. He is just faking it in this video with his JEM
Amp was: Bogner Ecstasy 100A
His playing here is drop-dead gorgeous, plays a little like Hendrix but doesn’t try to be him, the melodies compliment his style and Hendrix’s at the same time. Also his dance moves are so slick

When he strums that Eadd9 at the end is like chocolate to my ears
same for me!
Same!
Same!

I've known that chord fingering and used it for years but didn't know it was called. Thanks man.
I just love you Mr Vai..
I always come to Steve Vai songs just to hear a riff I have stuck in my head and end up listening to the whole thing lol.
Steve Vai, pure feeling, amazing sequence of notes and shapes.
Exactly, this is where the magic of music shows up. He's not talking about keys nor chords, he's all about feelings. For me, listening to this tune is as flying in the sky of happiness. Maestry that I can't even imagine (playing bass as an amateur :-))
Maestro Vai !!!
the song we never get to see Live.
guitar genius.
Great song- Alien Love Secrets was the first Vai album I bought and remains my fav. I like his stuff in general, but the style of this album, with just drums, bass and guitar is how I like Vai. :)
Alhamdulillah habis sahur buka lagu ini. Mudah mudahan puasa hari ini berkah dan kuat sampai maghrib, amin
Steve just plays what he likes which as it turns out, he's got a WIDE variety of genres he plays! this just happens to be one of them and his more edgy/shredding side is another.
Ultimately, he puts feeling into everything he plays! look at Tender Surrender and see some of the expressions he does in that!
The feeling he puts into this one as well, especially for a song that’s half rhythm based…I heard this was a tribute to Hendrix, so he must have really deep respect for the man.
Still hoping to see him perform live someday!
Did you see him live yet?
that makes two of us
...nice sitar lick at the end...
He actually recorded this track on the album playing a fender.
right and he tried a ton of the "best of the best" vintage strats before settling on a 500 USD made in Japan one. Vintage is overrated (I think, havent' tried one)
Takes me back to an easier time.
steve sould do more song´s like these, this display´s more feeling and musical substance, rather than just technique and shredding..
What a clean shred
a really pleasant tune to listen to on a Sunday morning.
Oh, and dig the 'ol Keith Partridge face at 1:22...
No need for speed when ya got feel
I can't really think of too many vai songs that are all shredding.
This song is very chill! love it!
yes, I agree and im probably being a bit unfair..I really enjoy the stuff, he composes carefully, although he does some pretty crazy/wacky song´s sometimes, but take -building the church- I think, that´s his masterpiece and that song has everything, incredible technical versatility, composing, structure..the man is a freaking virtuoso..
Não podemos comparar esse extraordinário guitarrista com nenhum outro, nem pensar pois seria injusto com os outros 👏👏👏👏👏🫂🫂🫂 👍
One of my all-time faves! That snappy strat sound is intoxicating.
I remember in my early beginnings at guitar, in the 2000, I bought a ''Jam With... Steve Vai'' book, and spent many many hours learning this song bar by bar, together with another one called ''Frank'' and ''Sisters''. I was so into Steve Vai in those days. I never mastered the songs to perfection, but I learned a whole lot about whammy bar and slides and hammer-ons, and they became part of my vocabulary to this day.
Love the tone on your guitar for this song! So good!
Uhhhh, Perfect !!
Can't believe it's been like amost 3 decades. Seems like yesterday. And the EVO jem he's still playing it today and it got sooo old now.
Great song!
A completeo... body moves and music. Thanks master for inspiring.
😊 магия мастерства, не замечаешь времени
absolute control
Utterly amazing....compete mastery. I don't think there's anything Steve can't play.....
This song represents Mr. Steve Vai. So expensive, Unique, & beautiful. Please make a more like this, sir. This is a great masterpiece.
It was actually written as a tribute for Jimi Hendrix, but there is a lot of Vai in it, no doubt.
Dedicated to Jimi Hendrix.
@MARK ZUCCHERO nah Jimi Hendrix
I am soooo jealous of that guitar ! ♡♡♡♡♡♡
Perfecto!
Truly magic
Andy James, LickLibrary's resident shredhead, reckons this is the hardest song he's had to learn and teach for a licklibrary video lesson. Just shows you what you're missing if you just shred all the time.
been looking for this one my entire life, thank you.
Vai's dance FTW! :'D ♥
like a snake. Whitesnake lol
Damnit! Plug a cable into the jack so it looks authentic! That just killed it for me!
Um, wireless?
Just learned that he actually recorded this on a strat and not the jem in the video.... how did I not realise this... mind blown
Needs radio play
after haranguing that guitar for 6 minutes he still manages to nail a perfect E9
Genius.
Difícil é dançar como Steve Vai 😂😂😂😂
what the hell have i been doing going to DnB raves.
ive been missing out on stuff like this.
its amazing!
what can you even say about vai, words cant describe sound
Such a badass outro
🙏🌠🙏❤🎶🌠🌠🌠
Talentuoso e bellissimo STEVE VAI ti amo
He actually recorded this with a $500 made in japan strat.
unbelievable song the sound it's just great i love it
2:49🤯🤯
Amazing!
I mean, um, well, yeah....... He deserves all the success he gets 🙂
You seem unsure🤣…not a fan?
I love this!
superb
so amazing
the JEM guitar is amazing. It really sounds like a strat until .... well 3:20 ! one of my favorite tracks from Steve
Pretty sure Steve said in an interview that this is an actual Strat until that point.
He recorded with a strat for most of the song but used a JEM for the crunchy stuff
Hi bro, sorry I went safari. I actually asked asked Steve Vai at the G3 concert during the platinum pass sessions in Melbourne and he said this song was a tribute to Jimi Hendrix namely the inspiration came from Hendrix's chord voicing in songs like 'Castles made of sand', 'Wind cries Mary' and 'May this be Love'. Chur
agree, there are a few songs on alien love secrets, that are carefully composed by steve.
@extradutyfelt1 haha good point there, i totally agree, thats why steve vai is one of the best, he puts everything he can into pretty much all of his songs
Steve vai tocar muito.the best
This song put in x1.25 speed is nice
Essa música lembra muito o brasil por mais que fale de Seattle kkkkkkkk
Suggest other Steve Vai songs in this style pls
really, I haven´t heard it yet..thanks for telling me.
It all starts with Jimi, yeah?
who are the bassist and drummer?
❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍!!!!
ave maria. kkkk toca muito
If he's not vertuoso, who would be?
good
Grow up music is not about who's better !
He actually did something quite similar to this in his latest album, it's called ''John the revelator''
No it's not even similar
hendrix, clapton, halen, malmsteen, vai > people who think music is a contest
Paul Gilber is Genius hahahaha anime tune
They are just having fun !
Music’s never been a contest, people sometimes just like to shout about who has the bigger impact on musicians and music consumers.
@OlieGuitarFREAK some times his song´s can go pretty crazy, out of the box, as well!
@OlieGuitarFREAK I agree with you, both feeling and technique, can blend in together, I just think, it get´s boring, at times, when there is to much speed, technique and not enough musical expression/feeling..I think that´s why steve, did a great job in alien love secrets, because he composed the song´s very well, together with his speed/technique .
its interesting that people think this is hendrix influenced he only uses as couple of hendrix techniques here. More like EJ im thinking
He actually used an EJ signature guitar to record this track, one of the reasons hr never play this live for me it's the hardest Vai song to learn
sorry for my trolling bro. How lucky you are Steve went touring in australia. I can't wait to see him in concert in France !
deserves much more views... bullshit world..
