I am one of the few who really loved Annette's era of Nightwish. Her voice with the gothic style they went with just worked. DPP and Imaginaerum are in my Top 3 of their albums so yeah. I just really love the way it sounded with her on vocals. So yeah.
Neat fact, Tuomas has a verse he sings on MPG. Its the second verse. If you compare and contrast the two voices, it is clearly Tuomas' vocals. Really cool.
Thank you for all the work you are doing analyzing the lyrics. This is the album for me. The album when I discovered Nightwish and they got me hooked. Of course as a Finn I knew about NW and Nemo, Sleeping Sun etc but this album was something else. I am for melodies and the music as a whole, the lyrics has a secondary meaning. And this album opened up how creative and fantastic Tuomas et co were to compose songs that you could not imagine could be done in the dark forest of Finland. And this is why I like to listen to you when you dive into the lyrics and give me a new dimension to NW songs. Meadows of heaven and PatP both goes into my Top 5 songs with Nightwish. And your make up was once again spot on with the cover of the album, and you had your own pendulum around your neck, too. Greetings from FI, love your journey.
Islander is quite separate composition - made by Markos base picking in the back room and Tuomas offered to make word to match. Tuomas might projects emotions then?
I really enjoy this album - love the big sound that they had refined by this point - and some great, catchy hit songs. Generally prefer Tarja era overall, all albums considered.
39:03 Interesting you say this because in Stephen King's book series The Green Mile, one of the inmates that is going to be executed asks Edgecomb what heaven is like. Edgecomb doesn't know really what to say. The inmate says he hopes heaven is going back to the happiest time of your life and living in that moment where you didn't have fear. Didn't have shame. He shares his moment and then sighs knowing that it most likely might not happen and that he is going to go through the execution on this frayed thread in hopes that maybe he is correct. So, knowing Tuomas likes King then perhaps this was a influence he had for the album. I don't know, just something that stuck out to me when you said that. So yeah.
I sent Eva (my favorite track on DPP) to my mom and she saw it as a girl who killed herself. Whereas with me, I see it as a girl who has either been abused or raped but still hasn't given up hope in the world. She still has faith.
Not gonna lie, at my funeral, I'd love to have Meadows Of Heaven play. And also, I wouldn't mind having the Love segment from Imaginaerum be played at my eulogy or as people come to pay their respects to me. That's my ideal funeral I guess.
In my opinion, i feel like DPP and Imaginaerum are like a trilogy. DPP is about this poet and composer writing the songs and performing them. Imaginaerum is about this poet slowly dying and fading away with the days. So yeah.
Hey May, if you want to see another and in my view very interesting analysis for Amaranth, I recommend you see Guylain Prince reaction/analysis of this song - fun fact: Guylain is a franciscan friar, so he know about religion and he does not think song has anything to do with religion, but it's about Tuomas: ua-cam.com/video/zvEpxuZEMW8/v-deo.html Guylain will also react and analyse 7 days to the wolves next week. He's quite entertaining and really good at analysing lyrics. Also, he used to be a drummer and has been a choir conductor (if that's the correct title ?) Pity so few people really know you, personality I appreciate and enjoy the content on your channel.
Also Stobe Harju, who directed the Imaginaerum film, directed the music video to The Islander so yeah.

Meadows of Heaven an absolute vocal pleasure. As I've said before, Annette is an absolute class act. Cheers May

I sent WYLASR to my mother who is not a big fan of Metal and she really loved it. She said it was beautiful and touching. So yeah.

I used to dislike Sahara but I just loved the intro. Then I loved the intro and the chorus. And now I like the entire song. So yeah.
