    That box is so large that I can actually picture someone falling in upside down, feet in the air, trying to reach a specific car near the bottom. Lol 🙃

      That would be me, lol. I've unpacked pallet boxes exactly like that at work and being 5'3" I always end up inside the box, unless I break the box up first.

    Suggestion to YOU and all people that drive a 2-wheel pick-up in snowy/icy weather......Go to Home Depot or somewhere you can find empty sand bags and buy 10 of them, then go to a cement plant or somewhere you can find SAND or small gravel and fill the sand bags, sew the top closed and put in the pickup bed over the top of the rear wheels...this will provide you added weight for traction and if you do happen to get into some ice and stuck, just break open one of the sand bags and throw either in front of or in back of the rear wheels, which ever way you are wanting to get un-stuck......

    • @marthazalka3988
      @marthazalka3988 3 роки тому

      Then Alex will need to put a full sheet of plywood on top of the sandbags so it's easier to load and unload his treasures as he buys and sell.

    I am actually having a lot of trouble watching these winter videos because of the snow . I came to this snowy part of the world after marrying my Canadian husband , and after experiencing handling three toddlers in winter ( children born very close together , no car ) I vowed that when I had no need to leave the house in winter I would not do so . I have managed to do that , but find that watching the work of living life in the snow is almost too much . It is such hard work . Imagine Christmas at the beach , barbecuing in swimsuits or light clothes . Children playing , running happily in and out of the water . Nana sitting under the umbrella beside napping baby , everyone chatting and eating . Well , need I say more !

    OMG three teenagers in your house and you had to shovel!!! I can't believe the amount of hot wheels you have there. The delivery guys only have to drop parcels off at your door, I know because I have inquired after finding them sitting on the ground outside my door that is about 30 feet from the road. Amazingly no theft yet. I just wish they could at least ring the door bell so I know they were there. Best is Canada Post they sometimes don't leave the parcel but just the card and you then have to go get it even tho I was at home when they left the notification card. I love the choice of tile you picked so pretty.

    In my area of the US, we call that a gaylord box and many times it is attached to a pallet. I used to work for a book company and we would get gaylord boxes filled with odd and end books. It was great fun rummaging through the box but it is deep! Good luck on your sorting!

  • @fsimon5230
    @fsimon5230 3 роки тому +2

    If they are using a pallet jack.....you may want to invest in a mini ramp. They probably couldn't get the pallet jack over the lip by the door. And yes, as someone suggested, a piece of plywood to plunk a pallet down on those beautiful tiles, as well. You have such perseverance to go thru ALL THOSE HOT WHEELS in one day.....that was a bit overwhelming to even consider doing....lol

    When my family lived in Berlin 20 years ago, I would visit a used book store that sold 'books by the kilo.' Literally. It was a single owner, private store. You got a basket to hang on your arm and could wander through the tables and shelves, throwing as many books in the basket as you wanted. At the register, they checked you out with a grocery scale and charged you by the kilo. I think it was 5 marks a kilo or so.
    One day I chatted with the owner about the merchandising plan. He said it actually worked great. No inventory records to speak of. No sorting beyond topic. No writing down tiles to see what sold or not. Everything was so cheap that people would actually leave with twice as many books as they would normally buy.
    I said there were actually some fairly valuable items on the tables. He said he knew there were. He would salt the stacks with them as bait. Kept people coming back and buying the minimum 5 mark per kilo rate.
    I'm thinking you could do something like that with the Hot Wheels. Like 10 for $20 or whatever. And salt the box with the odd valuable one to keep them digging. I bet you would empty that box in two weeks.

    I've always loved antiques and collecting, even tho at this stage of my life all I want to do is downsize and get rid of more "stuff" to clean, house and worry about. 😊 Never thought I'd be so interested in watching someone go through their very ordinary day, but for those of us who desire to "collect" but don't want anymore "stuff", we get to live vicariously thru you Alex! Love looking at your beautiful store and seeing u go thru all these life-changing accomplishments as u set new goals and do whatever is necessary to achieve them! You deserve EVERYTHING coming your way and more! It's admirable the way u speak about your family and wanting to take care of them. 💞 Hard work, setting a goal and achieving it, knowing that nothing was handed to u bcuz u were willing to do the work...must bring so much satisfaction to your life. It is admirable to watch! 💪🏼🙌 Those baseball cards/hot wheels ought to put another "wing" on the house! 😂👍🏼 Best Wishes to u and yours for a blessed, safe, joyous holiday season. 🙏🏽 MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎅💖✌🏼🙋🏼‍♀️

    8 pm…my husband is retired UPS package truck driver from Detroit. It was a good day if he was home by 8 pm. The trucks had lousy heaters and were not well insulated. My children never had dinner with their father on a week night. He missed quite a few school functions as well. The neighbors would shovel the snow for us, thankful for their kindness. My father-in-law is from Canada but always on the prowl for a Gordy card. My children were not destructive with their toys. Oh how I regret selling my son’s Hot Wheels for a song. $5 for a boxful! All had their wheels, stickers, etc.

    Receiving a pallet of stock has put those tiles at risk to be broken. A concrete floor is probably out of the question. I would suggest a relatively thin piece of clean plywood, one that you could push a pallet on and would help to protect the tiles. Suggest cutting the plywood to a slightly smaller size than the pallet so shoppers won't trip or stub their toes on the plywood. It's just a thought.
