    Countries like the Czech Republic are rather lenient with such tools, but keep in mind that in places like the UK ANY tool used in a self-defense situation, even something improvised as an ashtray in a bar, can get you in serious trouble and charged with aggravated assault. In Germany, it probably will depend on the judge and, if invited to a court case, the weapons expert from the BKA (federal police). Those tools presented in the video could be seen as disguised brass knuckles (in particular as they are advertised as tools that can be used for self-defense on the web page) which are highly illegal in Germany. The good thing though is, that self-defense action and illegal weapon possession will be judged and determined separately (illegal weapon usage won't necessarily negatively affect your self-defense case, so if your self-defense was lawful, you will only get charged with illegal weapon possession but not with aggravated assault). So, wherever you go, check the local laws before committing to a specific tool. My tool of choice at the moment for non-permissive areas is a 2300 lumens flashlight that also can serve as a force multiplier. It's completely legal without any question, can (non permanently = little legal repercussions) blind/confuse a potential attacker from distance which gives an additional advantage in a possible fight (or time to get away), and it's an actual useful tool to find your stuff fallen on the ground at night.

      Bearing in mind that in Germany the BKA classified a bottle cap opener that can be used as a brass knuckle for a single finger as illegal weapon basing this decision at least in parts on the marketing of the manufacturer this video definitely helps making this key fob an illegal weapon in Germany.
      And therefore the claim of this video is simply wrong.

    • @angelsjoker8190
      @angelsjoker8190 Рік тому +9

      @@bjornlange7483 Exactly. And if they are deemed as a disguised "brass knuckle", legal trouble can even be worse. Not only is a brass knuckle by itself illegal, but using a different shape to disguise it as a harmless object (see i.e. swords hidden in a walking cane, or knives hidden in a comb) can aggravate the charges, and the prosecutor could claim malicious intent.

      Definitely worth becoming aware of things that you can use as weapons in an encounter. In bars there are chairs, outside there are bricks and sticks. Despite all this, I'm a grappler (and throwing someone well onto a hard floor can do more damage than a knuckle duster) so generally I don't like to utilise weapons unless they have a weapon, at which point I'd rather have something that can keep the distance, such as a chair

      @@alexmousley7213 that is kinda lame. A lot of uses for a flashlight other than it being nighttime. could find myself inside a building during a power outage or earthquake. I might have to look for something I dropped under a counter or some such. I just might sometimes need extra extra illumination for any random task.
      Side note, i would take me and my small pocket sized flashlight against you and your umbrella any day of the week. Can’t hit what you can’t see. Nor can you block an attack you can’t see.
      If you don’t have a gun/can’t carry one. A good small tactical flashlight is the next best alternative.
      But using your logic. Having an umbrella would be hard to explain if it wasn’t raining. Or a cane if you weren’t limping.

      @@alexmousley7213 sorry Alex. You meant a large magnum flashlight. I was referring to a small pocket tactical flashlight. I have several and I am always carrying one (usually the one with scalloped edges). Even able to bring the smaller ones (without the scalloped edges) on planes which is about as restrictive of an environment as you can get. Sorry for the rudeness.
      The flashlight isn’t necessarily for striking but for blinding the attacker. My fists, head, elbows, knees and feet are generally enough. But if I have one of my scalloped edge flashlights and you don’t have a gun or aren’t it highly trained. You will be missing chunks of skin from your hands or forehead or suffering a broken clavicle.
      5 years ago some druggie tried to rob me while I was walking to a bar in San Francisco. He had a knife. Took out my tactical, blasts him in the eyes, stuck down hard on his hand, he bailed, I got a new knife and dirty paper towel from wiping his blood off my flashlight.
      Again, if you don’t carry a gun, carry a flashlight. Useful tool.

      Not necessarily, if it is marketed as a self-defense item you could be charged in Canada. You're not allowed to carry anything with the intent or design of using it as a weapon against people. If it was marketed as protection against wild dogs or something, and you were in an area with wild dogs, you could probably carry it. For example, mace is illegal but bear spray is commonly available. Carrying bear spray in urban areas can get you in trouble, though, because there are no bears.

    Just as piece of advice for people visiting Germany...we do have knife laws, but a small fixed blade (below 4.72 inches in blade length) or locking folding knives, that need two hands to open as well as non locking folding knives are safe to carry most places. These key chains on the other hand probably won't be, because they would be categorized as "brass knuckles" regardless of material, which are illegal to own or use in Germany. Some people already had problems with "EDC bottle openers", which could be used as brass knuckles.

    Serialized?. Why not just put your name and address on it? That way if it's ever dropped at some location where you defended yourself the authorities could find you even easier to return it quickly. Whose bright idea was it to identify a possible self defence tool you might wish to lose?

    • @BoneTactical
      @BoneTactical  11 місяців тому +1

      Hello sir I will try and explain the concept to you, despite the early warning signs that you may not be capable of understanding… they are numbered with a production number and a lot number. One of 500 for example. This is because they are highly sought after as collectors pieces as well and the collectors, enjoy knowing what number they have in the limited edition series. Furthermore, there’s no way that the authorities could use the number to find the owner. Now I will leave you with a little bit of advice: everyone around you may assume that you’re a fool, but you don’t prove them right until you open your mouth. Listen first, then talk.

    • @lenwenzel7440
      @lenwenzel7440 11 місяців тому +1

      @@BoneTactical You were the one who stated they were serialized. The usual meaning of that would be they were identifiable, and that records may have been kept. You didn't state records were kept, nor did you state they were not. If the tone of my message suggested a possible problem with the product it was a cautionary note, not a direct attack against you. Sometimes late at night word choices may not be the best, but I will take it that you meant no harm, but just overlooked how your meaning may be missed due to your phrasing. I hope you are capable of understanding, even if it appears you may not be. That is the tone you set in your reply to me. Anyone who tries to empower the public has my support; even if they occasionally act out.

    I'm pretty sure it will be not allowed in several countries. There are so many different countries with different rules and some are very strickt most of all in what you take into the plane in your carry on or on your person. I carry a somewhat thicker aluminium pen with a glass breaker tip in my pocket and in the US they wanted to take it away saying it was a kubotan. I played stupid saying I don't even know what a kubotan is and I just wanted a metal pen because I had plastic ones break inside my pocket staining my cloths. They let it slide.
    I cut up an old SAK credit card tool and only left the toothpick, tweezers and the small nail file with screwdriver tip and still they wanted to see everything when boarding in Thailand.
    Brass knuckels are highly illegal in my country The Netherlands and so are any concealed or improvised weapons. I wonder what you would give as a reason to have that on you?

    • @StevanOutdoor
      @StevanOutdoor 7 місяців тому

      @@BoneTactical I was a police officer in Amsterdam. I still know the law. Brass knuckels are not allowed to own or anything resembling it. That's why they don't and won't sell your key holder at the Old Man. It's illegal to sell also. They would be shut down.

    • @BoneTactical
      @BoneTactical  7 місяців тому

      @@StevanOutdoor I made the video that I’m telling you about from inside the old man sitting there with the owner talking about why many of self-defense tools are not breast knuckles since they have a bottle opener and multitool function and are completely legal 🤣🤦🏻‍♂️they don’t sell my stuff there because it is so hard to get, limited edition, and I have more demand than Supply

    • @StevanOutdoor
      @StevanOutdoor 7 місяців тому

      @@BoneTactical I did recognize the Old Man since I've been there many times. Giving brass knuckles some extra functions doesn't make them legal since a function is still that they can be used as brass knuckles and they are prohibited from even owning in any way, shape or form. One could argue if the ones that cover only one finger fall under the definition but there's also a general rule that you are not allowed to own or carry weapons unless you have a license. It's in parts a grey area. For instance any automatic knife, one that works with gravity and butterfly knives are always prohibited where a 'normal' pocket knife is not considered a weapon. So they look at the main function and the reason of carrying. In The Netherlands you are not allowed to have a plastic lookalike gun even though it's not even a real weapon but can be used to scare people thinking it's a real one. If you would put an automatic blade on a Leatherman it would still be illegal even though the blade is not the main function and it's obviously a multitool.
      Not every cop or doorman of a club will recognize it as such but some cops will and confiscate it and give a fine. You can of course go to court and try to get it back.

I have also brought it with me everywhere, including several concerts, without a second glance. And as a keychain, it’s great because it keeps your keys secure and hung on your pocket regardless of activity; I suppose it would fail if you did a headstand or something but normal to vigorous activity will leave them fine.

But no. Instead, they punish their citizens for not allowing themselves to become victims of knife violence. Picking up a chair or pipe to knock the daylights outta someone who’s literally trying to skewer you and leave you bleeding out in an alley gets you gets you hit with illegal weapons charges? Possibly aggravated assault and/or manslaughter too??? Both in the UK and Germany??? Those laws seem to absolutely and totally hamstring innocent citizens who dare to not let themselves become victims of violence.
