The 20-35 crowd has really missed out as far as music is concerned, with emphasis on "rock/metal". So much over-processed/auto tune pitch perfect bullshit and tripe. Frankly most bands on "modern metal" radio sound exactly alike...I find myself "tuning out" and throwing the cd or vinyl on more often than not. Lemmy, I've seen you live on my 15th, 20th,25th and my 30th birthday. This year, when I turn 35, the tradition will end... god-fuckin-speed you legend of legends!
I’m a lucky man. Lemmy was my friend for 35 years. Lifetime passes. And spent lots of time at his apartment in LA. On Harratt st. Drove him around too, this was a great video!! 🤘🏻
Razorfist... dude this was possibly the most heartfelt review you have done, next to queen when you talked about motherlove. I have to admit I was choking back the manly tears while watching this GOD FUCKING SPEED LEMMY!!!! we know your up there with DIO and the greats making us await the day you return of the back of a black dragon with our fallen heavy metal brothers god fucking speed!!
I’ve gotta say that I absolutely _adore_ the first Motörhead album; there’s something about the frantic energy of it that really pushes my buttons. Overkill will always be my favourite, followed closely by Another Perfect Day, which is not so much an overlooked gem of a record, as it is the Koh-in-Noor diamond of overlooked records.
A damn fine Metal Mythos and a pleasure to watch again. One of my first thoughts upon hearing about the unfortunate news of Lemmy's passing, was what Razorfist would do as a tribute. Thanks for taking the time and effort to create these videos. And god-FUCKING-speed, Lemmy!
I'm having a really hard time at the moment, and this celebration keeps me going like some sort of life raft. Gotta keep carrying on, gotta keep rocking. Thanks Razor.
Mickey Dee put new energy into the band, and as you said, the "definitive line up"....These days he's with the Scorpions and put some life into their latest album, which is actual pretty pumping.
Mickey Dee never gets the credit he deserves for re-energizing Lemmy, and by default Motörhead. I'm a guitar player so as long as the drums are in time and not overstepping their sonic place I don't really pay them much attention. Mickey Dee is one of a couple of exceptions. He's rock solid with the groove and at the same being exactly where he needs to be to accentuate the guitar and bass. He made Motörhead sonically heavier without sounding technical at all. Say whatever you want about the final lineup of Motörhead, it was the tightest and heaviest thanks in no small part to one Mickey Dee.
Your videos are beyond great brother. I'll soon be 47, yet they always take me back to a time when I was discovering metal at 12 or 13 years old. Thanks so much for the obviously monumental effort it takes to do 1hr plus episodes packed with this much information.
I saw Motörhead at Hammersmith Odeon on the Ace of Spades tour as a snotty nosed 16 year old. I used to get really terrible migraines, & i felt one coming on as I was lining up to get in. Once in it got so bad i was crawled up in a ball & puking up between the stalls, all the way through the opening act (Saxon?)...I was raised from my makeshift sickbed by Lemmy's thundering, catastrophically loud Rickenbacker bass...So loud were they that they cleared my head of all the pain, & i have never had a non alcohol related headache since. They heal the sick!
The best thing about gut wrenching thrash and speed and death metal is there are no love songs that make a person reach for the barf bag! I love all of that raw agression.
Bad Magic is an amazing album. "Till the End" blew me away. Many great songs: "Victory or Die", "Thunder and Lightning", "Fire Storm Hotel", "Electricity".... man, the list just goes on. The lyrics across the whole thing stand out so strongly, especially now, on the other side of Lemmy finally being Killed by Death. They are like a summation statement of his life and his approach to it: I am what I am, I had a lot of fun, I raised a lot of hell, I did some bad things, but I stuck to my guns and stood my ground and was true to myself, and I am proud. It stands as advice for us all.
A worthy tribute. Played this cruising the highway, throwing the horns and often laughing into the night. This was Motorhead, and the world is now a less interesting place to be with their passing. Thank you for re-releasing this updated metal mythos. It was the right thing to do.
Hi Razorfist, just wanted to say that I'm a really big fan of yours and I really do appreciate all of these Metal Mythos videos you do. I don't really listen to Metal, but it makes me want to and you always make these videos so hilarious and interesting and I learn a lot from them. Watching these videos gives me such great respect for Metal and you tell the stories of the bands so passionately and like a real storyteller which I always look forward to in these videos. Anyway, just wanted to let you know all that. I appreciate all that you offer on your channel and as you, the Great and Mighty Razorfist always says: GOD-FUCKING-SPEED!!!
I only saw them once, that was in 1981 at Portvale Football Ground, Stoke on Trent, England. That was an awesome music fest with Ozzy second on the bill. Overkill to Ace is my favourite period of the band, but overall they had an awesome career and never sold out to musical trends. ALL HAIL MOTORHEAD!!
I could be wrong, but I think I remember Lemmy doing an interview mentioning the soundcheck to this very gig. Claims there was a complaint from a guy 4 miles away or so, that couldn't hear his television! 🤣
RasenTensho448 He just carries himself like Freddie and has that passionate voice. He is also still young very young. I think it has that potential he sounds like he is ripped right from the 70s.
Freddie was a glam frontman have you seen what Freddie wore? I like the band personally and if they keep evolving they could be a great rock band.RasenTensho448
RasenTensho448 The Glam I am talking about is British Glam in the 70s. Glam Metal is what you're referring to. Spiller reminds me if a 70s glam guy in appearance with the Rock N' Roll music of the 70s.
thank you for shaming me into finally giving the motorhead catalog a proper exploration, which has seen me buy 11 albums in a week. Sad I didn't do this while Lemmy was still with us, but what a treat to take in this much rock and roll excellence all at once. got to see them once, opening for dio and maiden. especially with 2/3 of that bill having shuffled off this mortal coil, i will be forever grateful.
In the summer of 1983 I literally fell in a time loop where all I listened to was "Piece of Mind" and "Another Perfect Day" back to back to back to back to back..etc. I'm glad someone else digs it..and by the way, "listen to it or fuck yourself" is an awesome way of raccomanding Heavy Metal albums.. You're doing a damn good Job with these Mythos series of yours!
Metallicas sound is a combination of Diamond Head and Motorhead. The Early Metallica is quite a great talent and effort, yet something always irked me about Hetfields voice and stage presence. I like Nuclear Assault Anthrax Overkill, Megadeth Testament you name it, i like it. Slayer etc etc. But no matter how you slice it, Metallica have always been the fakes. I've adamantly hated them since i was little. I thought Hetfields voice sounded like a bad country singer trying to get rough over some metal. I was proud of my hatred for Metallica and even prouder of my dislike for GnR which lives on to this day.
Spot on , Lemmy used to call James Jimmy ffs and James lapped it up . Doesn’t matter if you make the biggest album ever , your hero’s will always be your hero’s
Yeah for sure, they developed their sound overtime; started as a blues three piece, into hard rock and eventually heavy metal in 80's, but just because all of them could play their instruments doesn't make them prog rock. That being said, Robbo is a bit big headed. But not in the typical prog snob/hipster/elitest way, he's just a bit stubborn. Too big for his boots at times. On that note, would have loved to have seen a metal mythos of Thin Lizzy, but not sure if Razor is as much of a fan, but far my favourite band of all time.
I do believe “Iron Fist” is Motörhead’s best album. It is their fastest, angriest album. The production is clean yet raw and in your face. “Ace Of Spade” is a masterpiece of course, but I enjoy the production on “Iron Fist” far more. Obviously, it was also the first album I heard by them (December 1982). I became an instant fan from that day on!
@@zodiac6968 Yeah, you should give it another spin. I could hardly call songs like "Iron Fist", "Heart Of Stone" or "Sex And Outrage" weak. Granted: the production is less grittier and more polished, but it still sounds fairly aggressive. If you listen to this album and then put on "Rock N Roll" or "1916" you'll notice that "Iron Fist" sound far more over the top.
I always thought it sounded way too dry and powerless. Eddie was pushed to produce it and didnt feel comfortable about it. I like the orgasmatron better though it sounded thin. That album was just a speed train running over everything coming their way.
I've had the privilege of going to Rock In Rio 2011 and I watched Motorhead's show there. Metallica was the headliner, but everyone in the audience agreed that the day was pretty much over when Lemmy stepped out of the Mundo Stage. That was easily the best show of the night, and of that whole edition of the Rock In Rio.
Lance Robertson yeah. Sounds good but i would prefer system of a down. It would be a shorter mythos but very interesting since they’re pretty experimental.
Thanks for this! Another great Metal Mythos. I remember being in high school, learning guitar and discovering NWOBHM in 79/80. Me and couple friends would find the first Def Leppard album, Saxon , MSG, Maiden. One day a friend brings "THE HEAVIEST band ever"...and I borrow his copy of NO SLEEP TILL HAMMERSMITH...the fastest , dirtiest band ever. Finally got to see them while stationed in German in 87. Front row in from of Lemmy. A small rec. center. On a bill with King Diamond and Destruction opening. MY ears rang for about 3 days.. Loudest metal concert ever.
Bought 15 albums in about a month because of you, five of them having to order the cds on amazon, thanks to you My wallet may not thank you but I sure as hell do
original line up with phil, eddie and lemmy was fuckin' amazing bro. i've forgotten how awesome motorhead truly was like 20 years later. underrated as shit. especially those songs with phil's double drumming. even later stuff like born to lose off of the world is yours. i dig it.
Lemmy was not just a great musician, he was also really witty. You can tell by his lyrics and his jokes onstage and offstage. He could've made a fine comedian if he didn't find music. His inclination to get people to laugh whenever he could cements him as a good bloke who just wanted to have a good time, and who'd take you along for the ride if you wanted to. He beat the odds, lived life according to his beliefs and did so with honesty. There will never be another one like him, and I'm grateful we got to witness his genius.
Good shit man, and ups for putting the previous version of this as the featured video, a few less clicks when I came looking for it when I heard the news last night.
death had to sneak up on lemmy, he'd have had a conversation about world war 2 with death and that would have been it, death would have just said "you're cool, i'll let you keep going"
I've seen the first version of this. Great that you updated it. A funny fact my first Metal show was Alice Cooper, April 25th 1988 in Munich, Germany and my second one was Motörhead on December 29th 1988 in Fürth, Germany Haven't missed a Motörhead tour ever since and worked on a couple :-)
Orgasmatron was the shit! probably because it was my first Motorhead record, bought it when it first came out. Bastards would go on to be my favorite in the end though. great job though! I dig your Accept Metal Mythos as well.
*+Feminism is for nobody* _Our Lemmy, whose art is heavenly,_ _gambling be thy game._ _Thy king is cum,_ _thy will be fun,_ _from Perth to the West of Devon._ _Give us this day our daily coke,_ _and congratulate our trespasses,_ _as we congratulate those who have sex in rest stops,_ _and lead us straight into temptation,_ _so we may forever be evil._ _For thine is the metaldom,_ _the power chords and the glory-holes,_ _for ever and ever,_ _Amen._
In Another Time, Over The Top, The Game and See Me Burning are my fave deep cuts from mighty Motöhead. Rest easy Lemmy, Philty, Fast Eddie and Wurzel! Cheers from Finland and Happy Holidays!
I'm an incredibly late bloomer, just discovering this amazing band in my early 40s. Not sure why I never took the time to listen to them growing up in the late '80s and throughout the '90s to the end. Like with Black Sabbath and Dio, it's a band that had constant lineup changes, but no real bad albums. Safe to say this vid was what got me to purchase the entire discography. Money well spent IMO. Great music that brings a smile to my face everytime a track comes up. Thanks Razorfist for this wildly educational and entertaining look on Motorhead. I've also enjoyed the one you did for Black Sabbath. Is a Dio (The Band) one in the works ? I would love to hear your opinion specifically on Lock Up The Wolves, Strange Highways and Angry Machines, 3 albums that often get unfairly ignored. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)
I was only truly exposed to the monolith that is Motorhead because of your original video on them. Since then they've become a definite favorite of mine and thus I was also immensely saddened by the news of his passing. God speed Lemmy and long live Motorhead.
Just subscribed...I’ve been on a Motörhead kick again lately and this show rocked.....laughed my fucking arse through the whole show..... Saw Motörhead live in 84......stuck our heads in the PA stacks and baptised ourselves into Metal.....Devils grip the Iron fist....
Dude speed song "Claw" of Orgasmatron is a keeper, as is slow song "All for you" of Rock n Roll. Aftershock is actually what I call a come back "Queen of the damned" is a classic. Bad Magic has several keepers like "Victory or Die" and "Thunder and Lightning"
Love Queen of the Damned! I also really dig Going to Mexico and Lost Woman Blues. Fantastic album and the cover art is my favorite of all their albums.
It's more a distaste for the city of Tucson. And frustration with Motörhead for avoiding playing in the _capital city_ of Arizona. I hate whenever any band does that.
C'mon you just thought he wouldn't die..I would say I felt that way.. saw Motorhead Last at the house of blues Atlantic City...so fucking loud that my friend had to leave, and this fucking guy always listened to music way too loud in his fucking car... shit was loud, thanks Lemmy!
Thought of this episode not long after hearing about his passing. Cool re-do mate. Phil Lynott and Noel Redding have been warming up the afterlife's backstage party for him. R.I.P Lemmy.
I was heartbroken when I heard that Lemmy died. Motorhead and Black Sabbath are the almost perfect prodigies that paved the road for bands like Pantera, Black Label Society, and other badass metal bands. I hope that Lemmy, Dio, and Dimebag are making the best track to ever be made in hell. Rock in Peace \m/
I'm absolutely gutted that Lemmy's gone. When I heard news, I figured you'd make some kind of video in honour of the man and the band. Thanks, Razor, and rock on.
It is well documented James Hetfield of Metallica adored Lemmy and ripped off his style a bit (he admitted to it personally) but it is also well documented Lemmy loved Metallica's music and he loved the Black Albums and the Load's as well as the 80's albums. So idk why you give so much shit to Metallica but adore Lemmy... personal tastes and all considered, dismissing Metallica's importance in the Metal world is a bit contrived.

I saw Motorhead back in 2010 and I can honestly say it left me deaf for 3 days afterwards. Probably for the best since anything heard after seeing Motorhead live isn't worth listening to. R.I.P Lemmy Kilmister. God is seated in his holy throne.... swigging from a bottle of Jack Daniels.

I remember being 17 going on 18 when I saw Motorhead on the Metal Masters tour with Testament, Heaven & Hell, and Judas Priest. Rest in power Lemmy and Dio!
I finally understood the big deal with Motorhead when the Snake Bite Love album came out, and have been a fan ever since. I think it was just an age thing for me. I was blessed to see them on the Hammered tour for my first time, the next time I saw them was an abbreviated show where they were in the mid support slot sandwiched between Dio and Iron Maiden in 2003. It got cut short because Mikkey Dee had the flu, that beast still hit the skins harder than fuck.
It was with this video that I went from only owning the song Ace of Spades to making it my goal to have every Motörhead studio album on CD...bad albums be damned. Thank you, Razorfist.
My favorite Metal Mythos. I don't agree with everything he says, but I agree with a lot of it. It's great to see someone heap praise on the Mikkey Dee era of the band. Motorhead from Bastards forward were dynamite !!!

My dad gave me a Sacrifice tape on my 7th birthday. My first album.
Still the best rants and reviews available on the internet. Thanks for the update on the Motörhead edition and horns up to Lemmy!
An excellent, informative, educational and entertaining video. Watched the whole hour in one go, non-stop, very well done.
Out of all the mythos you do I think this is your best, your passion and appreciation for motorhead bleeds through the screen
Well Lemmy is God, course he could heal the sick!
The best thing about gut wrenching thrash and speed and death metal is there are no love songs that make a person reach for the barf bag! I love all of that raw agression.
Please bring this series back, I found this series like a year ago and I love listening to them at work
Bad Magic is an amazing album.
Couldn’t agree more!!!🤘🏼
The amount of badassery when it comes to Motorhead is beyond this world's levels.
Saw Motorhead live in Nottingham in 2000. I came out deaf for 2 days afterwards. A defining moment of my life. RIP Motorhead.
I'm so thankful I was able to see Motorhead in concert twice, brilliant stuff! This video was a really good retrospective.
R.I.P. Lemmy
Mickey Dee announced yesterday morning that Motorhead "is over".
+RasenTensho448 To be honest the lead singer of The Struts could. Dude sounds like a reborn Freddie.
RasenTensho448
He just carries himself like Freddie and has that passionate voice. He is also still young very young. I think it has that potential he sounds like he is ripped right from the 70s.
Freddie was a glam frontman have you seen what Freddie wore? I like the band personally and if they keep evolving they could be a great rock band.RasenTensho448
RasenTensho448
Glam is just a style and Freddie(Queen) just like Bowie were glam in appearance.
RasenTensho448
The Glam I am talking about is British Glam in the 70s.
Watching this today to celebrate the legend we lost 5 years ago today. Cheers Lemmy 🍻
Hetfield took the same mustache and copied a lot of his stuff bc he openly worshipped Lemmy he was like a father to him haha😂
James and Lenny were fans
I wouldn't call Thin Lizzy "prog rock". Much more of a melodic heavy rock band with folk influences. A criminally underrated heavy rock band.
The term "Heavy Rock" is what I wouldn't call them either, in fact, that term doesn't even exist.
They were getting heavier and heavier too.
Thunder and Lightning is almost pure metal
@@HeathenMetalhead221
Hell yeah!
Iron Fist there best, really? i always considered it the weakest of the early releases, i'll have to give it another spin.
@@P3rm4frost Also the name "Orgasmtron" is way too funny
I've had the privilege of going to Rock In Rio 2011 and I watched Motorhead's show there. Metallica was the headliner, but everyone in the audience agreed that the day was pretty much over when Lemmy stepped out of the Mundo Stage. That was easily the best show of the night, and of that whole edition of the Rock In Rio.
My favorite Motorhead song is actually on the underrated "Snake Bite Love" album, the Heavy headbanger, "Dead And Gone"!
Dead and Gone is one of the most underrated heavy metal power ballad song that isn't corny like any other power ballads.
I had a good time watching this. Thank you for great reviews of all albums.
Hey Razor, how about a Mythos on SAXON?
Lance Robertson hell yeah 🤘🏻
No thanks....horrible band
Lance Robertson yeah. Sounds good but i would prefer system of a down. It would be a shorter mythos but very interesting since they’re pretty experimental.
@@yeahsure8323 and you are a horrible person
Wish granted!!
Bought 15 albums in about a month because of you, five of them having to order the cds on amazon, thanks to you
My wallet may not thank you but I sure as hell do
original line up with phil, eddie and lemmy was fuckin' amazing bro. i've forgotten how awesome motorhead truly was like 20 years later. underrated as shit. especially those songs with phil's double drumming. even later stuff like born to lose off of the world is yours.
A funny fact my first Metal show was Alice Cooper, April 25th 1988 in Munich, Germany and my second one was Motörhead on December 29th 1988 in Fürth, Germany
Haven't missed a Motörhead tour ever since and worked on a couple :-)
Orgasmatron was the shit! probably because it was my first Motorhead record, bought it when it first came out. Bastards would go on to be my favorite in the end though. great job though! I dig your Accept Metal Mythos as well.
god speed lemmy... god speed
Ah, I thought I might find you here after I read your comment on the Sargon/summers video.

You dont wish Godspeed to Lemmy.
You hope God can keep up with Lemmy's speed, Hes left us mortals behind and the afterlife has a new boss.
A table in Valhalla got a little more badass
Yes, he is planning for a Metal Mythos for Dio and Ozzy Solo careers for the foreseeable future.
EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE HAIL TO THE BEST BAND ON EARTH
You can't drive 2 hours to see Motorhead? Dude…
It's more a distaste for the city of Tucson. And frustration with Motörhead for avoiding playing in the _capital city_ of Arizona.
I hate whenever any band does that.
I drove 2 hours to work today, I know which id prefer
C'mon you just thought he wouldn't die..I would say I felt that way.. saw Motorhead Last at the house of blues Atlantic City...so fucking loud that my friend had to leave, and this fucking guy always listened to music way too loud in his fucking car... shit was loud, thanks Lemmy!
@@TheRageaholic fuck that, I live near Payson and made the trip for the show.
really fuckin dropped the ball on that one lol
The good thing is that Brian May from Queen actually played the lead in their song The Devil. Two of my favorite artists together
He just takes bands that were popular and says bad things about them to get a reaction. Remember, he's playing a character.
Metallica bad
@@-47- NPC.
@@aaronbarlow4376 Metallica is music for npcs
Metallica’s music serves an important purpose: a gateway drug to the rest of the metal world.
I hopped on UA-cam to ask you for a Lemmy tribute and here it is. thanks razorfist. Godspeed.
Sacrifice - 3.1 / 5 on Sputnikmusic. Featured review: 2.0 / 5 ...Dafuq are these guys smoking? Sacrifice is awesome! The title track is one of the best thrash metal songs ever written.
By far the best channel on UA-cam...
Just discovered your channel yesterday and I am hooked.
Eric Albrecht woo good lad
I miss Lemmy. Always liked him as a person.
You got a new sub. This and all your vids I've seen are extremely well done! This is the most I've ever seen anyone do for Motörhead. FUCKING AWESOME!!!
I remember being 17 going on 18 when I saw Motorhead on the Metal Masters tour with Testament, Heaven & Hell, and Judas Priest. Rest in power Lemmy and Dio!
What a great video. Thank you! R.I.P Lemmy and thank you for all the great music and experiences as well!
I found you through Sargon's guest vid and I'm really glad I subbed. Another channel that I can binge watch. Excellent work man keep it up!
Dead men tell no tales is the greatest album opener of all time
Great watching this video again Razörfist, when Lemmy passed I knew you were gonna give him a great send off.
God-fucking-speed!
Cover the band Overkill. They're another one of those dependable, consistent metal bands.
Yeah they are motorhead of thrash
Do it
that is fair enough thrash metal is basically the only genre that keeps being the same, all other genres have way less repetion than that genre
As always Sir. Excellent work. We've been raising our glasses since
i was waiting for this all day!
Your Metal Mythos series is fantastic. You are introducing me to all sorts of bands that I never paid attention to before. Thanks to you I now listen to Accept and Judas Priest daily. Godspeed!
Thank You Motorhead for giving us great heavy music that will be listened for many many more years! And Razorfist, thank you for rekindling my interest in listening to Motorhead again. I may have listened to Ace of Spades and Broken, but I'll be listening to a lot more Motorhead tunes soon. Thank you, Razor! And God-Fucking-Speed, Lemmy!!
Motorhead was my first concert. I consider that a gift. My ears were ringing for a week.
Somewhere in heaven, Lemmy, Phil, and Wurzel are playing live as another incarnation of Motörhead. RIP.
Beautiful tribute to Lemmy and Motörhead. Thanks brother.
Awesome video Razor, it really gave an incredible insight to Motorhead.
A question, are you going to make a Metal Mythos about Megadeth? if so, could you tell us when? You are incredible dude, thanks for all the work you put into your videos!
Great video man, i have also never seen these guys live, i was planning my first show in late January in the UK until i got the news the other night, absolutely devastated that i will now never get the chance......
