You're doing well, just practice riding around as much as possible to get comfortable, and also (this is so important for beginners) BEND YOUR LEGS, it'll make it much less likely that the board will just fly out from under you if you're off balance. It'll also make a lot of things safer and give you more control.
Great video as always, I really enjoy your personality. Here are some tips: 1. Just ride around as much as you can. It helps you to get comfortable on the board. 2. Bend your knees a little, it'll help with your balance. 3. Learn how to turn. Same as number 1, it's a really important basic. 4. If you want to try out some more beginner tricks, I would recommend trying some shuvits. It's a rather easy beginner trick. Keep up the good work :)
A big tip for skateboarding is keeping your core/stomach sucked in. This gives you balance and makes you stand up right. It may be hard to do at first but you can get used to it easily! *take it from a dancer, it helps sm*
I haven’t commented in awhile but keep doing you!! Every single one of your videos have basically been masterpieces, and it shocks me every time how underrated you are. Not to mention you make my day every time I watch your videos. So what I’m trying to say is you’re really cool and I hope this serves as some motivation to keep going 🙃💜
I love your videos, they provide me with my daily dose of humor and inspiration for the day… as well as the sudden urge to go do something new. Thank you so much!!
35 year old here who's just picking up skatingboarding. I was absolutely humbled by a bad fall where I strained my intercostal muscle and twisted my ankle - I did that at a skatepark and no one batted an eyelid. Falling and looking like a noob is part of the learning process, so just keep doing it. For me, I'm happy just to learn how to ride; the tricks are for the kids :D
I've only cruised around in my nickel board but never actually learning tricks on these boards and I'm learning all of this too ! You are doing absolutely amazing
I never tried skateboarding before. I started it a month ago and I am 24 now. I feel like sometimes I am too old for it. But if I can learn it, you can definitely learn it again 😊😊
This was in my recommended section. Skating is so fun and creative. I love skateboarding so much.. Just keep practicing and don't give up if you reslly want to do something. You got this.
My advice is to get used to riding at a faster speed I feel like that helps out with your confidence another thing is I recommend helmet since as a beginner you are more prone to falling good luck keep it up your skate videos are fun to watch
lol the people showing up when i'm skating somewhere happens to me too. i think sometimes it's a community thing, like "oh that person is skating i wanna skate too" or skater minds think alike...or sometimes people just wanna show off- idk, but dont let it be something to deter you!
In order to get better just ride everywhere and I know this is gonna sound very cliche but don't give up on skills keep practicing because you can do it. Maybe try learning ollies as well. They are kinda hard at first but they are quite basic when you get the hang of it
Ur progressing WAY faster than i did. Ive even skated for over 1 year now (with many long breaks, probably i have skated 5 - 6 months without the breaks) and i still can barely ollie. Ngl i have and still just kinda have fun with what i can do and practicing even more on what i already can do.
Awesome video. The editing was really well done, and you’re progressing at a good pace! One nugget of advice, if you wanna tic tac in wider angles, turn your shoulders. If you direct with your shoulders, then your hips, feet, and board will follow naturally, to the point where you can do 360s with them even. Keep up the good work, your vids have been top quality thus far
Hey HEGLA, if skateboarding with your left foot forwards is too difficult, or if you want to switch it up a bit, try skating RIGHT foot forwards. If you do this trust me you will thank me later when you do rlly good tricks ( yes you will get that good bc ur doing great!) it will be easier. I didn’t do this so now I’m back to square one just left foot forwards instead of right foot forwards
It’s so nice to see other people starting off! I always feel like everyone you see is so good at skateboarding (and a man) so it’s super nice to see another woman starting out!
haha "forgot mic at home so vid will as absolute BALLACHE to listen to." just really vibe with the way you talk. creative cursing, funny phrasing. it's the best. feels like not a lot of people do it but it's highly entertaining. i tend to do this as well. always nice when you get someone to burst out laughing from a slick delivery haha.
please do a part 3! few tips: ride as much as you can so that you can get more comfortable on your board, cruise around town or city, try go up and down ramps. practice basics! good luck
The thing that i know helps keeping your balance on a skateboard is to bend your knees a lil bit for a lower gravity stuff and better balance to keep your board and yourself align. Also once you get comfortable with riding the board and wanna try learning an Ollie please change shoes cause the grip tape on a skateboard can mess up a shoes that doesn't have the cloth material that can withstand it. I use too wrecked a lot of my shoes that isn't made for skating but still used them just to play.
If you do get to the ollie, the main thing to remember is to make sure the back of the board hits the ground as you're jumping. That's what people call the "pop" and is what makes the skateboard actually jump into the air. And one small tip, skateboards actually have a front and back side of the skateboard. The backside or "tail" will be a bit bigger and longer than the front or "nose". The larger tail helps give more pop when trying a jumping trick than the front of the board.
wish you had ALL your skateboard stuff in one single playlist. your current one didn't have this one or all the vids it seemed. it's so nice when you can just hit neeeeeext and do every single one.
I've seen no one saying anything about your gear yet, so I'll try and give you a few pointers. Completes, i.e. skateboards with all components sold in a complete package generally have boards that feel mushy as opposed to snappy. They also generally have griptape that is plasticky and has low friction which results in bad board control. You may want to switch out your board specifically when you get more comfortable riding around if you want to learn ollies as a good (snappy and grippy) board makes them a lot easier. The rubber bits, or "bushings", in the trucks look like they are not yet broken in, which is why you're having a hard time turning your board. The bushings may just be of poor quality but you can still make them turn more by simply wiggling your board from side to side a lot, you could for example do this in the same way you practiced manuals in the kitchen. Thinner shoes with softer soles make it a lot easier to feel the board and and helps you move your feet across the griptape faster. This is most important when pushing as you need to remember that you should be able to very quickly move your front foot 90 degrees every time you start and stop pushing without lifting the weight off that foot. What I mean by this is that when riding the board you should stand with your body and feet pointing almost 90 degrees sideways from the direction you're rolling whereas when pushing you should turn both your body and you're feet so that they point in the same direction that you're rolling.
Great video I'm also learning to ride u motivate me lol. btw 5:10 ur supposed to hold the board on the same hand as ur starting leg just a thing I picked up practising lots of love all the best
Lmao, i gave up Skate Boardimg for a bit, and I actually haven't skated in a year. For all the negatives it led me down to it did ultimately lead me to roller skating which is one of my favorite things to do!
Yo Hegla, will you ever countinue to do these skateboarding progress videos? Í love these because 1. you are really talented 2. it is a nice contrast to your other videos. I even would watch a whole channel from you exclusivly with progress skateboarding content and how you feel, what you think, just how you react to skateboarding while learning it. super entertaining and nice story telling!
thanks for the motivation. i don't have a skateboard but i have and electric unicycle, same principle though. haven't been riding it because i did the totally male thing and bought one of the biggest ones 31.5 kg/70lbs. new riders should not get the big ones. anyhow you motivated me to get back on her this morning. Thanks

Haiii if you keep falling of forward from your skateboard it might help if you tight your trucks if you don’t feel like it it’s okay you can also keep it like this but maybe it can help np.😊
Bending your knees more will help with keeping your balance and if you correct your foot position and make them more perpendicular to your board. You should find carving easier!
I know its been a year but for future reference those skaters were trying to skate with you!!! most of the time if i hear some skateboard noises i'll pull up and see if they wanna hang! skateboarding is really a whole ass community and anywhere you go you can find people to chill with. seeing other people skate will also improve you as well because you see the way they are doing it :) theyll even offer tips from when they were learning
Not sure how much it matters at the basic steps of skating, but i can tell that skateboard is not a proper skateboard. Its very thick and has very little shape and concave. i recommend getting one from a skate shop, although more expensive. And she skateboard is very stiff, but honestly that makes it easier to learn things like ollie, so could actually be an advantage for now. Other than that, keep skating, you're doing great :)
Can you do an outfit video please. I see ur outfit when you playing sk8 and other, its kind cool and i would like to see more as an outfit video (sorry for the bad english :))

You’re doing awesome don’t give up I’m on the same boat I think a lot of people are I don’t think there’s a pro skater out there except Tony Hawk and his followers and Chad Muska but a lot of people are not 100% on skate board maybe a short 90% just keep at it at least you’ll make it to 50% don’t give up ever
