Not sure if anyone has said this, but look at your shoulders during these 180 turns. You're turning with your hips but your shoulders are staying in place. You need to turn with your shoulders first and your hips will follow. This will make 180's much easier.

    hiyaa glad you’re back
for fakie kickturns / fakie reverts, it’s a lot easier if you turn your shoulders before you start the turn. because your hips follow your shoulders and your board follows your hips it’s like a chain reaction. it also helps to create momentum so the turn happens faster. then you just need to lift your front knee and try the turn and it should feel easier xx

Thank you soo much for real skateboarding progression. There's plenty of videos where people do kick flips after a week (I know it's possible but I don't want to die trying to get this high after this short period of time). Anyway you're incredibly cool, remember that there's at least one person eating shit on a skateboard and getting back to it over and over again, who finds great support in your videos ❤️ please don't give up

Biggest tips i'd give you is to find a nice little skatepark to go and practice, you'll probably make good friends there that could give you tips in person (to me skaateboarding is a team sport). Fakie is also easier to get to when you've got a small bank to ride up and down, it's just your regular stance but going backwards ! Happy skateboarding :)

  • @fonoboy
    @fonoboy 2 місяці тому

Killing it! You seem to be having so much fun and that's most important. One thing that really helped me early on was putting all of the tricks aside and just riding the board. We all want to Ollie, Shuv it, Kickflip, but being able to ride fast, down hills, around hard turns, and getting reaaaally comfortable on the board makes all of that so much easier when the time comes.

Great vid! keep at it. Congratulations on your degree too! You're trying to ollie with your whole foot. You really want to pop with your ankle, not your leg. You want the ball out your foot in the center of the tail. A year between skating is a lot, haha. You kinda have to figure it out a little again. Consistent ok practice is far better than infrequent prefect practice. Even if you only skated for 20 minutes every week, you still would end up with more time on the board than you did in those few days. I get it though. It can be tough. Life definitely gets in the way. But, it's worth it. Life is better with a skateboard, for sure!

I just saw you on Ricky Glaser's channel, mate.
Keep up the hard work because that's what skateboarding is about, working hard to conquer your fears, to achieve something at the end of the session. And walk away after all that hard work, feeling accomplished and satisfied. Knowing you've beaten yourself and progressed.
Find some friends to skate with, Dan Webz is a good skater and will be a natural motivator. But if you know of any skaters within your skill level, invite them along too, because learning together can be a huge help.
Rick says this in his review of your video, and I gotta agree with him. When you're trying to land something and are afraid of slipping out where you land on it. Try the trick on the grass, get it on lock on the grass, and then move it to the concrete.

this video is so relatable. Im also on a similar skill level as you and my session basically look almost the same haha. I do manuals too when i try to do ollies while riding not bc I think it helps my ollies but bc it helps me get more comfortable on the board itself. hippie jumps are good tho. helped me with commitment. and for the fakie reverts I think they are actually super easy as long as you can ride switch and do normal kickturns bc if you think about them you do the turn with your back foot in your regular stance which makes it feel like normal kickturn. thats why I personal also struggle with normal reverts. they feel more like you do them off the nose and then you also land switch 💀. I hope you find more time to stay more consistent tho 🙏

When learning moving ollies its easier to have some sort of objective to ollie over. So maybe a painted line in the ground at first, then a twig, then a stick, getting bigger and bigger. Also ollieing up kerbs is probably easier than ollieing over something and feels amazing

Can i give some unsolicited advice? When trying to pivot 180°, preload your movement with your body. Wind up like a spring! Your upper body should be spinning before your lower half, it starts the momentum 😊 if your lower body turns beforeyour upper half, it will always throw you off balance!

Mad props for learning to push switch so early, but you don't really need that to start learning fakie stuff! The easiest way would probably be to roll up a small incline in your regular stance, wait until you lose speed and start rolling backwards, boom you're rolling fakie

  • @Lincoln_Gi

Heyy, I just wanna say I literally was and am in the same situation as you. A lot of skaters just can’t understand that some people just don’t have time to practice everyday, so they are surprised that I am still working on kickflip after more than 3 years, so that can be kinda annoying. But remember, the point of skating is just to have fun, and most importantly not to die😅. When I started skateboarding I gave up shove it and just learned it recently because I was annoyed that I still couldn’t land with both feet, but I learned fakie shove it instead.(I recommend you trying it too😊) So yeah, have fun basically

Tighten your trucks, learn to run onto your board, jump onto your board, push at max capacity, reach your speed limit then go faster, learn different methods of breaking and go recklessly fast. The closer you are to your limits, the better you get. Speed really is the defining difference, and it will help you get through the plateau you're in. Trust me, tricks can come later, the best part of skating is riding. Been skating since 1998

Look at your back foot at 10:23. You're putting your whole foot on the tail. If you look frame by frame, you'll see that the last thing to leave the ground is the tip of your foot. Which is almost out of the board. Try putting only the tip of your foot at the edge of the tail (look at some "how to ollie" videos and pay attention to the position and angle of their back foot). That way you can put much more pressure on the tail and you'll jump more naturally, as you would on the ground.
Also, on your 180s. Use your upper body. Build momentum by throwing your front arm in the direction you want to move (like you're punching the air), then turn your upper body, and then your legs will follow. It's hard to explain through text xD

hey @HeglaUA-cam just found this video you are doing great for a beginner i skated for 15+ years a few tips for the future 1. you are right you will fall and it is okay you will learn to land on your feet 2.for the ollies while moving i know it sound counter preductive but it really helps with more speed it took me 3 years to figure that out 3. what you where trying is a switch fakie revert you do not have to do it switch fakie just means moving backwards and 4. if you want to ollie higher you need to bring your front foot back down the board more because it is the front foot that levels everything out so further back means more time to go up i hope these little tips help you i will sub to watch your progress and again your doing really really good for just a year

I thought it said after 1 year of skating. Taking a year off is not going to help. I like how new skaters have to talk us through every second of their skating in these type of videos as if we can't tell what they're doing. Just have fun and don't skate for any reason, just do it. I'm not hating because tons of other people do this type of video. I just think it's funny sometimes. Skating can take like 5 years of dedication to be any good at it. Just ride around and don't have high expectations. Stick with it, even if it's just 10 minutes a day.

Try doing a nollie fs shuv-it whilst moving. You will most likely find it a lot easier to learn than a regular shuv-it whilst not moving :)
