Scores:
After my initial score I add or subtract points relative on how I perceive value (based on what I paid for the bottle). A zero value means I think the price is justified.
0-69.5 - Don’t bother trying, life is too short for bad spirit.
70-79.5 - Worth trying, but you’re not missing out if you don’t.
80-84.5 - I recommend trying.
85-87.5 - Definitely try this!
88-92.5 - I recommend buying a bottle blind!
93-95.5 - Stuff you reserve for special pours!
96+ - The meaning of life.
RE: Blind tasting...
Where I do agree that blind tasting is the best way to determine your favorite whisky, I believe I would be unable to achieve valid blind results on these particular Johnnie Walker expressions because of how familiar I am with each of them. In my preparation for this review (as in all of my reviews) I try the whisky multiple times over weeks/months while taking detailed notes on smell and taste. If I did this review blind I would (for the most part) be able to tell which whisky I was tasting when I was tasting it, and therefore the test would not be 100% blind/valid. In my opinion and experience blind tastings only are accurate when you have not tried the particular whisky(s) before or are less familiar with them (see my live shows or "What's the best Pappy?" review). A blind tasting will give you a one-time result on your current preference on that particular day. However, I believe trying a whisky multiple times, getting to know a whisky, eliminating variables that could effect your palate (food/drink) by tasting on different days is the best way to review a product. I have tried many whiskies and I always make unbiased honest conclusions when scoring. Cheers, Jeremy.
Well said brother. Many don’t understand that a blind tasting is just the direct reflection of what’s pleasing or not in that given moment. Having a bottle and doing several tasting gives us he opportunity to provided a much more well rounded and educated perspective on the liquid at hand.

I was thinking that if you drink a certain drink alot you can tell which one it is. I think I could pick out my favorite whiskeys in a blind test. Great explanation! And my favorite tends to change from day to day as well.
I might have to say as a spicy/cinnamon/peppery fan red label does me well. A black or blue would be nice too. I don't mind the red. Kinda Chivas Regal Like
I'm rather disappointed. It is possible to get multiple tastes from one drink to another with out something between drinks to clean the pallet.
I like the Black, I've tried the Blue but for $300 I want to hear angels sing when I take a sip
depends on where you live, 150$
I would talk many 100 dollar (US) single malts over Blue. It’s not that I don’t like Blue. It’s just not very interesting and does not provide a really lasting impression. It’s well made to the point where it seems a bit...processed?
I used to work in Asia and they had blue label almost every night at the Karaoke and everyone except me was mixing it with coke or soda.
people who base their preference from the price are fools. that's why blind tests are the truest way. like vodka snobs always bragging about grey goose, yet they usually prefer Smirnoff red label in blind tests.
@@egads2 LOL
A friend's blue label is best!
haha, so true
By far... haha
ROFL..
i drank that with cola and a frind of mine told me that its called rape lol :D
I have been always saying that.
Its easy to find an expensive whisky you like. The real trick is to find a cheap one you truly enjoy.
Definitely. I think it's easy to find good value whiskies to

The “lack” of finish on the Blue Label is exactly why I like it.
It’s a polite whiskey ☺️
blue is best!
I agree. I hate the throat burning finish of most hard liquor but the blue label doesn't have that and it's so smooth.
Dont drink while driving... you might spill the whiskey.
Or get blamed for an accident caused by a texter.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not if you drink directly from the bottle
Because whisky is more important than your or other's life 😁. I think black label is best, because red and black label i ever drink. Black taste better than red
Priorities
I did the taste blindfolded but after the 3rd bottle i was talking about my divorce and my alcoholism problem😁

Yes, you can compare Mary Jane! She was always big and fat!

Him: can smell alot and different flavors.
Me: i can smell alcohol alcohol and alcohol
You need to acclimate your palate to straight alcohol, it takes time. I would recommend adding water to bring the abv down so it's not as strong, then do a little less each time. Cheers :)
Let's go. Drinks on me.
Lmao

Red Label is best if you like your whisky to taste like it was distilled through a tyre
And that's on a good day. Dreadful stuff. I tried the double black and actually enjoyed it.
Red is SO bad, can't imagine anything but for cocktails. Need to step up to Black which is actually fine.
I'm a beginner to scotch. I tried Red label mixed with Sprite and thought it was good. Hits the head really nice. Haven't tried any other scotch though.
@@prashanthraghavendran2628 go with single malt when it comes to scotch but if you gotta go with blended...Chivas Regal.
@@prashanthraghavendran2628 I'm no beginner and I really like Red. Best thoroughly aired, add a tiny drop of water and you've got a great Scotch. My next favourite is Black and then Blue, but I can only afford 2/3 bottles of Blue each year.
Red label it’s for partying with your friends, when you don’t have time to smell it.
And when you don’t have enough money😂
Green Label hands down. 100% malt. Age statement. Most depth, and a long finish.
Seems like they have flavor profiles for everyone, which is really cool.

It’s about 135 on special at BevMo 150 normal price
I've tried every one of these and by far, prefer Green Label .
That’s what I would say.
Yup.
I Prefer Double Black to green.
Green and double black are the ones I like
Does anyone like Gold?
I am a closet liquor snob and my
prefference is for the Green. It is super dangerously drinkable and I always stock up when it is on sale.
I also like to offer it to newbies as a gateway scotch.
Nothing wrong with the black either, for the price it punches well above its weight.
Agree. 100%
I think the Black, Double Black, and Green are the best bang for your buck in the lineup. But I would rate the Double Black below the Black. The peat smoke in the Double Black tricks people into thinking it is a better whisky, but in reality the Black is so well rounded and balanced for what it is, plus an age statement goes a long way in terms of quality, especially in blended stuff.
Good point
Green label! Definitely.
It's a blend of 15, 15 year old single malt quality scotches, 4 of them being popular and highly reviewed: Talisker, Caol Ila, Cragganmore, and Linkwood. The result when you blend high quality scotches is you get one hell of a good aged scotch blend. While there are a few more interesting scotches for a lil bit more price. Green label is still a solid 4/5 rating in my books. And reasonably priced.
Agree! It’s in my top 3 of daily drinkers
My favorite has got to be the Black Label. It has a special place in my heart: first whiskey I ever tried, we celebrated when my brother was hired for his first job! Thanks for the great and informative video.
thanks, cheers!
Blue is the perfect bottle gift for thank you’s and apologizes. It’s expensive but it doesn’t feel like a bribe

Excellent review! Answered every question that I ever had about Johnny Walker even though I’ve only ever had Red & Black labels. The Red is my sentimental favorite only because it was the favorite drink of my dearly departed relative who often shared his numerous in WW2 while we sipped on splashes of Red label on the rocks. Thanks for posting.
Got a tasting set for Christmas so watching the review along with it I like the extra facts thrown in on the side
Black label is the whisky that got me into whisky
Blue for me haha

yep me too
Same for me. Have been trying to talk myself into trying the Blue but havent yet.
Love the green. Love the island green as well--excellent value on that one. Great review, subbed!
IMO, Green is gives the best bang for the buck.
EXPENSIVE😅
Double Black is my fave in their lineup.
Agreed, followed by Green.... Red tastes like they mixed the peat into the final bottle. Gold & Blue are way over priced. The Double black is the best for the money.
Double black is a bit too spicey for me, Black is my personal fave
Same here 😃
@@eriklensherr3657 just had it last night for New Year's Eve.
Yup, Double Black all day.
You made my mouth water! Double Black- never tried it but will now. Thanks!
My favorite is definitely the Green Label. I was one of the people sad to see it go and elicited when I encountered it in my local Liquor store here in Denver. Thanks for the great lineup review!
Every second of watching your reviews is worthed👌🏻👌🏻 and how you organize your review is very easy to remember even after a while. Great job✌🏻
Thanks, cheers!
Green label fan! Was bummed when they discontinued it for those few years...
every taste review video should be done blind, so we know they aren't just talking out their ass
its true, i just make it all up
@@SippersSocialClub no i dont think you make it up at all, i've seen vodka expert blind taste test 10 vodkas and put them in order from cheapest to most expensive vodka, i've seen natural water expert pinpoint what source spring water comes from a blind taste test. palettes can be trained but palettes can also be influenced by the label. it would be an interesting experiment to see which whisky you like based on a blind taste test without any influence from the label. make sure to put some real crappy cheap whiskys in there and some premium ones, everything from whiskys in plastic bottles, to single malts.
@@SippersSocialClub smellyhenry's point is well taken. It's called "confirmation bias" All reviews of the Johnny Walker brand by whiskey snobs are all the same. You conclusions are made before the tasting
I don't think I could do a true blind tasting of this range because I am very familiar with all the whiskies. I would be able to tell which one I was tasting (for the most part). Red and Double Black are obvious, Im pretty sure Id know the Black, 18 yr, and Blue. So doing it blind wouldn't yield true results IMO.
well said!
Gold and Green are my favourites. Thanks!
Enjoyed the concise and educative presentation. Thanks!
Thx for clearing my confusion on which johny to buy...nice video
I never really ‘got’ whisky, which is sacrilege as I’m Scottish, but when I tried the Johnnie blue I was converted. Absolutely love it, and opened a lot of doors into the whisky world for me. The most important thing is everyone’s tastes differ, find the whisky that works for you, drink it in a way that works for you, and just enjoy it. Unfortunately my favourite just so happens to be the most expensive in the JW range :-)
I'm cognac drinker but I had Blue label from a friend and was amazed how smooth it is. I'm gonna get bottle for my bar
For me, the Green is usually my go-to out of the range. Just drinking the 200 Celebratory Blend and it’s superb. Cheers.
Excellent information, can’t wait to grab a green and an 18 year bottle this summer!
I've tried a number of JW whiskies and the Black Label remains my all time favorite. A great tipple for any occasion.
100% agree. Black Label is the best
Double black and green are my fave.
Swing is my favorite cheapo.
I was sad when they stopped making green label for abit. Glad its back. Great video !!
Grew up on the black. Loved the blue the few times I had it. Been tempted by the others but haven't had the opportunity to try them. Thanks for the video.
I have all the flavors except double black and 18 year old but will try them
Thank you I also notice you like the black and blue the most
you are missing a lot with the double black, it's my favorite for the money
Green is the best tasting ive been drinking it for years
I like the Green. 'Cause I'm not much a fan of blended Scotch.
Hows the liver holding up?
Green was the best but they changed it about three years ago in 2015 or 16. It used to be a pure malt blend and it had a real cork now they changed the supply and it's a plastic cork. I heard the Asian markets demanded all of the product Japanese in Korean businessmen. Green was the best and you won't see it over here in the west anymore least not the old Goodwin with the real cork
@@SuperJuiceman11
I don't really mind about the cork anymore... other than it may say "care for our product"... but they know that and it may be marketing.
Plastic corks do very well. In some uses they are far superior.
I still say any cork beats a screw cap. But if a well designed (new design) screw cap was used I could change on that.
Dang Japanese! :)
@@Mikey-ym6ok i find your comment pathetic grow up kid
Black or bust!
Black is my fav not only because it is priced affordable, but Black is a really good sip on any given day.
Good video, thanks for producing.
The 18 year is great. But the Blue is just so complex and interesting. Everything else I totally agree with you on.
Nice video. Green label still my go-to on JW line, however Lagavulin 16y is mv all-time favourite.
I quite like the red with a good dry ginger ale, it’s a bit rough on it’s own but somehow works really well with the dry.
Neat, the double black is great value.
Yes! The red gets a lot of hate for being gasoline but I find it to be quite respectable when mixed and just "aggressive and young" neat but not horrible. I'd still take Red neat over many of the bourbons that get touted as being fantastic.
This was very helpful, very thorough, logical, and informative. I have now subscribed.
Thanks so much, welcome :)
Out of the Walker collection Black Label is my favorite, it's so full-bodied and tasty (especially for it's price range). But outside of that Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig QC and Talisker 10 are my favorites.
Peat head, I love it!
Nice review. The whole lineup is fairly diverse. My two favs are green label (always in the cabinet) and the 18 year old for various occasions. I find those two to really be up there for blends, even beating out the blended single malts, like Balvenie doublewood and Macallan triple cask. Both of which I like very much. Throw in some Japanese whiskeys, and the competition gets stiff. Hibiki harmony is another good one, too.
Green Label is Talisker, Linkwood, Caol Ila, and Cragganmore in various percentages. No Clynelish. Green is also the best because of a lack of grain.
Where do you get that information? would be curious to know what's in Blue or Gold for example
Paladin Ludwig Theres a thing called google...
Green label is the Incredible Hulk. I’ve had the blue label and still prefer green.
@@vgmrevisited832 I concur!
Green is my Favorite!
As a beginner I love the Black. The only thing is that it almost has no finish. Kinda what you described for the blue label. Otherwise I would preferred over the Gold and the Double Black.
I have tried the black, double black, and green. All great. Green is lovely and smooth.
This is awesome! Huge fan of the Green label. Appreciate the detail and the full lineup. Thanks Jeremy!
Thanks Jason! I've had a few different Greens and some are smokier than others, this particular one was not as peated as others. Cheers!
YES! Green Laben is by far the best. There is also a more expensive one called Island Green Label, I advice you to avoid it.
Been saying this for a long time. Green label is simply the best JW taste wise and price wise. I just love it.
My go to whiskey has and always will be JW Black Label, whereas on special occasions it was always Blue Label but that changed since Platinum 18 hit the market...
Raise Your Glass Gentlemen to your favorite JW!🍷🥂🍷
Nice review, unbias, well articulated nose and palate descriptions. Thanks!
I would propably add an extra "1" point to Green Label due to its 43% ABV and longer finish.
As someone who bought a mini pack of almost all of these except these for the first time,, I can say my favorite thus far was somewhere between the double black label and the gold reserve. I guess their particular tasting notes and aromas just matched well with my palate on that day better than the rest. Blue label was after those, but man, if only it were less expensive. Gold and black label were alright. I'd mark them down at the same rank as blue, but way less killer on my wallet. Red is... something I wouldn't mind mixing into stuff, but maybe not drinking straight.
Great job on this video! You really packed in an incredible amount of useful information for someone like me that has been hesitant to delve into the Johnnie Walker lineup. I absolutely love the Clynelish 14, so will be looking for the Green Label next time I purchase. May even try some of the others next time I am out to dinner thanks to your nosing and tasting notes. Cheers!
+Christine Deems Thanks Christine, really
appreciate it! Cheers!
12:41 "without a doubt" scotch so good gave him a Scottish accent
Thanks for sharing. I like the overview for the nose/taste and the extra infos, also you don't talk too much. Keeping it simple 👍🏻
When you are tasting I can remember my hangover which I had 3days before
Green Green Green!!! Great video Jeremy - enjoyed it!
I'm a real big fan of the Green Lable!
The Platinum is one of my absolute favorites, but the Green, Black, and Double Black are great choices as well. Agree with your assessment , well done.
Thanks, cheers !
Really helpful and interesting take. Definitely learned a lot.
Love the Green label, great review!
Thanks, cheers!
I've had Red to Gold range but I keep going back to Double Black! I also actually prefer the Red over the standard Black.
My favorite is the Green, I noticed they used Taliskers in the blend, but I buy the double black far more often just because of the price. The 18 year old is a close third mainly cuz I am cheap
Having tried all of them, the best for me is the double black.
Black Label was a favorite of Christopher Hitchens. The Blue Label tempted Leo McGarry.
"Mr. Walker's amber restorative" !
Also saddam hussein and Mahmood Abbas.
Assholes but they have good taste.
My favorite is the Johnnie Walker Black. Can't beat the price and definitely better than the red.
I have tried them all and my favorite is the 18.
Thanks for the review black an green are my go to. Before it started i could already tell which you enjoy the most lol.
I haven't tried any of the higher end offerings, but I think my favorite is double black.
Once in Vienna I found a bottle of red for only 10 Euro. Naturally I snapped that up, even though it's pretty harsh, and having it went completely against the rules of my study abroad program.
The green is my favorite. The the black has a place in my heart since it was the 1st bottle I bought (could afford) when I was 21 lol.
I love Glenrothes I don't hear a lot of talk about it though but each to their own. Well done my friend.
A totally agree with your Blue and Green notes. Blue has an odd mouth feel in that it is so satin. Blue finish vanishes, and I was as surprised as you seemed to be. Great review. My only comment is that Black has a strong tanned leather note that I think needs mentioning. Maybe it's just my tastebuds, though.
Green is my fav, though I haven't tried DB, 18, or Gold. Time to head to lcbo for gold to add to my collection.
I see that Diageo has started putting out Mortlach again and will have to comb through your reviews after finding your channel.
Cheers!
Great reviews...like you said the Red is supposed to be mixed. Overwhelming citrus if it’s not. Green has always been my favorite in the lineup
I have a fondness for the black label because it was the first scotch that I ever tried.
Im a Big Burbin fan. Just gitting started in the Scotch whiskey. Thanks for the information and your options
Cheers :)
Great review video to start 2020! Black Label is one of the best value for money scotch’s out there and I now think I need to give the green label a go.
I bought a sample pack with black through blue (no green)for an overnight train ride I was taking. Fun working through it over the 2 days. 18 and Double Black were my favorite. $40 dollars at Binnys beverage depot
That's awesome!
Blue is the smoothest best we ever had. Bottle is in the fridge..my husband will never complain about a clean finish done right...
I actually started drink JW by chance. Someone bought me a bottle of Black Label for my birthday and I have been hooked ever since! Even my wife has started drinking it!
So concise. Thank you.
Some friends and I went through the range once. Then we went a step beyond.: our favorite was when we blended the Double Black with the Blue. Combine a little more smoke with the Blue's mouth feel.
interesting! ill give that a go
I find all of them amazing especially if they’re free.
Wow, you really make whiskey taste like cake or ice cream 😄. Very nice review honestly; bought the Green and it's really a good whiskey a step up from the Ballentines I personally think
Thnx Jeremy a well introduction of all Labels💞
thanks, cheers!
Love the Double Black. At $37 locally, it's an exceptional value. My go-to sipper.
What a great review... You earned a new subscriber.
Welcome :)
Great overview and I'd have to agree. For my budget and my tastes, the Black Label is my go to. Green if I'm in a more fruity mood and 18 if I'm splurging.
I feel Green Label is the best among the range, considering the cost factor. But Red Label + Club soda is awesome if you are on a budget!!
Nice review..
I also have Swing and XR 21 YO in my collection..
It's nice to see all in one row..
My favorite is Johnnie Black. Never liked the taste of alcohol but the first time I tasted scotch I liked it was Johnnie Black.. I've had Red,Black, Double Black, Swing, Green and Blue but still like the taste of Black the best. Thank you for the video it was enjoyable. Hope I win
Giveaway contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone who participated! Results video coming soon!
Double black is so flavorful at a great price. The best with green a close second.
So sorry I missed the contest. Loved the breakdown
I have been drinking Black for many many years and find it very satisfactory. I tried Double Black when it first came out and found it superior but not always available for sale. I agree fully about Blue that it is too smooth and not worth the money. Red is really not a good drink.
Huge fan of green.
Thoroughly enjoyed this....
