@Trucker Kev The Paid Tourist Unfortuately, no. Still can't guarantee a package arriving safely if it has alcohol, sadly. To be honest, unsure how Joseph managed to get it to us - it was quite the surprise when it showed up! 😅
Blue label was my dad’s favorite scotch. He passed away last week and we had a shot of it at the funeral home and put the rest of the bottle in the casket with him.
I'm with you. Black is the baseline of what a solid scotch is for me. Green is outstanding. Blue is very, very nice - but yeah, way too much $$. I'm more of a bourbon guy for the most part - a bit because I feel like you can get a better quality whiskey for the $ by far.

The scotch I keep in case i have a guest that prefers scotch is green label. @Aphabet21 same - always have at least 2-4 good ryes, a Canadian, a couple Irish, a handful of scotches, maybe a Japanese and 10-20 bourbons - whiskeys are probably half the cabinet.

I love seeing that progression at whisky tasting events. People turn up saying "I don't know much about whisky..." and by the end they're joining the club because "...well we can't miss out on the 18yo sherry cask next month."
When Ciara rests her head on her left hand, and looks straight into Dermots eyes, and flutters her eyelashes. How does he not melt. I would be speechless!
Yeah well, I grew up the youngest of six in an Irish family. They didn't make me eat anything, but my sister Maureen tried to drown me when I was four. And everyday they told me I was ugly and stupid. Uh...yeah I think I would have preferred eating dirt.
This was one of, if not THE best of the drinking videos that I've watched on the TRY channel, and there's been a lot of them. Actual good wit mixed with sincerity? That's a solid eleven out of ten.
Joseph Madden the MVP. I've been hoping a set of glens would finally show up in these whiskey videos! Donating a blue label on top too! I hope Martin gets to experience a pour before the bottle is empty.
Not a big fan of the old Johnny Walker even though Scots whisky is my go-to. But to be fair, the differences in aging are very apparent with this line. As blends go, Johnny Walker Blue is very good but I would prefer to play in the single malt field. And also a big tip of the old hat to Joseph Madden. That was a very generous and very considerate gift.
Totally agree. Didn't think I liked Scotch at all because all I'd tried was blended Scotch -- then I had a decent single malt and it opened up my world. For me these days, the only thing I'd use JW for is in a mixed drink. Although I will admit I've never tried Blue -- at over $200 a bottle, it's nothing I was ever that tempted to buy -- but it's possible that I'd find that palatable to drink on its own.
@@DJHolte someone had to say what I was thinking. Not much a fan of JW. I picked up a small bottle of the blue from the duty free. My friend and I both tried it same time and agreed “Meh”. Good but too expensive when you can get better single malts for less. Gimme an Ardbeg or Laphroaig 10yr. Or any year Balvenie. Or Aberlour A’bunadh. Or many other great single malts
There were a couple of johnnies missing there and they are actually very very good. On top of my head i can name double black, green label and gold label
@@AlexSadof 100%. I tried the Blue Label in a tasting set of all bar the Double Black. It was pleasant but I would rather go out and grab say an Ancnoc 24 for the money
My Grandparents lived in Walkerville where Johnny was made. Granddad was a Scot and appreciated the benefits that strong drink could provide in troubling times, which happened to come quite often in them days.
Actually, Dermot is probably spot on with his insight into Ciara's seemingly unique ability to ignore the tastes and smells of things that would be offensive to most other folks. There's nothing like being a young child with older siblings to deal out a bit of trauma; and if her siblings were forcing her to eat disgusting things, of course there would be a lasting ability that has morphed into something less traumatic.
Ciara is definitely unique and I agree with you. She doesn’t like being like everyone else. She is so entertaining to watch, especially along with Dermot.
@@nasferatu8461 do you mean torf? thats the "ground" in some scottish eras. they dig it up and burn it, that smoke gives scottish whiskeys their special flavor
For anyone wondering, the idea behind smelling the whiskey while also inhaling through your mouth is that the extra air forcing itself past will stop the alcohol vapors from building up in your sinuses and burning your nose as quickly.
Ciara is just lovely. A hell of a drinker, doesn't bat an eye at violently spicy food, hilarious, and a Spinal Tap reference! And it's alright, Jamie, I read epitome the same way every damn time.
From those selections, I can say that you like the smoke. I would highly recommend the Green Label as it might have been mislabeled as Green rather than Black because it is smokier than the Black and th3 Double Black, with fruity notes too. For the price point, I'd choose it over the Blue Label. Blue is overpriced.
Wow. Didn't expect to learn Ciara's origin story today. She's has a true Irish heart because the country was literally force-fed to her. Far more compelling than Wonder Woman, if you ask me.
OOOOOHHHHHHHH..... DIRT! THAT's what you Irish folks were talking about. I had no clue wtf you were saying. All this time i was wondering what in all of God's realms of possibilities is "Terf".
Johnnie Walker Blue Label, now that is a gift fit for Kings and Queens! That actually makes up for the Durian Fruit episodes that you put poor Justine through. Sadly, she did not get to partake of the liquid gold that was sent to you. WAIT, you should do a second shoot with Martin, Justine, Clare, Callyann and Ciara (because I like Ciara, don't tell her).
I tried it years ago. My wife's cousin at the the time, asked me what I thought. I told him it was an old man's drink. Scotch is not for me. And my former brother-in-law was a conceited ass. He got it as a gift from a client.
I have been waiting for a TRY every flavor Johnnie Walker video for some time. Awesome! Christmas came early!!! 😂🤣 BTW, Black Label is not that much more expensive than Red.
It's a shame they left out the best 3 and in my opinion the only good ones from Johnnie Walker; Gold Label, Double Black Label, and the best one Green Label.
I loved watching the lot of you! Ciara and Dermot get so much attention, which is deserved, but you all were a pleasure to watch! My wee glass of Macallan 12 enjoyed the video as well
The wee Scotsman in me is delighted to see this one. Red, black, blue, green and gold. I've not tried their Game of Thrones editions but Blue is amazeballs! Ballantine's 12yr old is my blended Scotch of choice.
I had the GoT Song of Ice one. It was very easy drinking. I'm not a big fan on Scotch, but that one was nice. I also liked Dalwhinnie's House of Stark. Not sure if that gives you a clue as to my usual taste profile or not. I recommend both of them.
8:51 She finally got her smoke! :) These are a bunch of fun people. I think hanging out with them, and with Mr. Peaty Nuances would be a blast. Great video.
As a Scot and a confirmed pisshead this vlog was a joy to watch. The intelligence and alcoholic knowledge of the reviewers was plainly evident...you sent me to the cabinet to pour myself a large dram. Also haven't laughed so hard for quite some time, great job guys.
I can just hear Martin somewhere watching this saying 'How DARE you.' Also, I love that you chose Dermot trying to sniff with his mouth open as the thumbnail. 😂 *chef kiss* Well played.
I just discovered this channel for the first time, and binge watched ~20 episodes... Completely echoing Dermot's bafflement, Ciara's explanation about her childhood explains *_so_* much that was in question.
I've been convinced with previous videos that Ciara and Dermot would be insanely fun to have drinks with, and this video solidifies it tbh. Love their energy. Also holy shit, not just a lucky bunch getting to try some Blue Label, but having an engraved bottle sent by a fan. Been a fan of the Black Label, but this really makes me want to save for a bottle of Blue. Great video!
Johnny Walker Blue is flat out, the best, most fav whiskey I've ever had. Yes it's true you can drink about the entire bottle as it's so lovely. Highly recommend it!
@@Guilkdp I"ve had em. I've traveling and lived al over the world. In parts of the Middle East...you can get some way way cheaper than the west/USA. I had some bomb aged Macallan for about 1/3 of the American price...and also about every Glenn there is. Yes some was pretty close and excelelnt for sure...but JW Blue..MMMmm
I’ve had three toasts of Blue Label, all celebrating major events in my life. Good stuff. But for a (slightly) more economic and smooth blend, I like the Green Label, which was not featured here. Not sure about the cost across the pond, but it runs about $63 US dollars here in the states, and is a good middle-ground between cost and flavor. Good Scotch has always been my penchant… nay, perhaps my downfall. But delicious and memorable all the same.
Not sure if you are aware but Green is the only JW that is single malt scotch...having said that I too prefer Blue and always ask if the establishment has Blue before I move down the ladder.
What would be really fun to watch is mixing up the labels (without telling them) on these kinds of taste tests. Partially to combat the bias of expecting a fancy label to taste better, but mostly to f* -- mess with testers' minds.
Green and Gold labels are well worth trying. Blue has a few distilleries in the blend which have been out of business for over 30 years. Martin would have been great to watch in this one as well!
Having only tried JW Blue once, I can honestly say it is phenomenal. Smokey but smooth. JW Double Black is less expensive but also delicious! Brought a bottle of JW Double Black to my Irish friends when I visited in 2016. Needless to say, it went over extremely well 😁😁🖤🖤
Oh man. Lol please do Glendranoch, Aberlour, Glengloyne, Lagavulin, Arbeg, Highland Park or one of the other great Scotch whiskies out there next time.
Opened a bottle of Glendronach 33yo for my friends at a past Christmas party. To date, one of the best sherried Scots whiskies ever. Cannot fault your list at all but might add Glenmorangie Côte de Nuits and Dalmore 30yo Stillman's Dram. Scots whisky is such a wonderful world to explore.
@@joshholmes1372 in Russia they make whiskies and just call them "Glen something or another" (like Glen Forest or Glen Eagles) to make it seem as if they're Scottish.
I have been with the try channel since they started over 2 years ago and have slowly..... overtime come to love all of them and their idiosyncrasies that make them human. I am basically a beer lover but I have tasted the different types of whiskies in different countries and I have started loving whiskies as well. My conclusion after all of my experience are : 1. You don't care about the taste of a whiskey. You just care about its smoothness untill you try a lot of them. 2. When you actually start to find the taste, you start to develop your preference on certain brands or a specific one. (For me that is black level). And you start getting involved on whiskey talks and explain them about your favorite one. 3. Drinking after knowing about these liquids feels good 🙂. 4. Blue level is undoubtedly the best I have ever tasted. Its devine af. 5. Ps: it's just my views, I am just learning.
I really like this channel! The reactions to the drinks and food are great. I will definitely stay away from anything with durian fruit in it. I am saving up to make a trip to Ireland for the summer.
Red: If you want to remove your enamels, it's fine. Fire/Ice: Why? Black: decent on the go 12-year blended Double Black: Smokier than Black. So... Nice Black Sherry Finish: I want to taste that Green Label: The best cost-benefit. It's a blend of single malts. Everything above green (including blue): marketing traps. There are better choices at lower prices.

When Ciara rests her head on her left hand, and looks straight into Dermots eyes, and flutters her eyelashes. How does he not melt. I would be speechless!

So finally Dermott uncovers the secret of Ciarra's ability to withstand almost anything - her siblings tortured her LOL gotta love that
Yeah well, I grew up the youngest of six in an Irish family. They didn't make me eat anything, but my sister Maureen tried to drown me when I was four. And everyday they told me I was ugly and stupid. Uh...yeah I think I would have preferred eating dirt.

Of all the try channels that are out there this is absolutely hands down my favorite
This was one of, if not THE best of the drinking videos that I've watched on the TRY channel, and there's been a lot of them. Actual good wit mixed with sincerity? That's a solid eleven out of ten.
"If I was to go for an aged scotch, I'd probably go for Rod Stewart" I'm DYING. Dermot makes me so happy. Laughed my ass off
I had a brain fart and got mixed up with Rhod Gilbert for a sec and thought "he's not old and he's Welsh, not Scottish"
I got there in the end 😅
I was thinking Robert Carlyle, myself.
Irish people always are a good time! Love the dynamics!
Joseph Madden the MVP. I've been hoping a set of glens would finally show up in these whiskey videos! Donating a blue label on top too! I hope Martin gets to experience a pour before the bottle is empty.
Martin would be happy.
@@DJHolte blue label is a whole different animal and is amazing
@@DJHolte someone had to say what I was thinking. Not much a fan of JW. I picked up a small bottle of the blue from the duty free. My friend and I both tried it same time and agreed “Meh”. Good but too expensive when you can get better single malts for less.
Gimme an Ardbeg or Laphroaig 10yr. Or any year Balvenie. Or Aberlour A’bunadh. Or many other great single malts
The green label 15 is a solid buy. But I'll take a single malt any day over the blends. Johnnie walker does what they do well however.
Same. Nothing against Johnny W, but I prefer the single malts to the blends. Such is the way.
There were a couple of johnnies missing there and they are actually very very good. On top of my head i can name double black, green label and gold label
I love the Green Label from that missing list. :)

What a great vid. That Blue Label is tried and true! But loved how appreciative the Tryers were. That's incredible.
Blue isn’t worth its cost. There are better choices for much less.
@@oldsingingstudentdougbillf1665 Blue Label is good, but for the money, Green Label is the best JW around.
@@AlexSadof 100%. I tried the Blue Label in a tasting set of all bar the Double Black. It was pleasant but I would rather go out and grab say an Ancnoc 24 for the money
@@oldsingingstudentdougbillf1665 It’s free on British Airways first class. 😉
This whole video had me laughing but Dermot's continuous pestering about the German accent and Ciara's animated responses killed me.
My Grandparents lived in Walkerville where Johnny was made. Granddad was a Scot and appreciated the benefits that strong drink could provide in troubling times, which happened to come quite often in them days.
Johnny walker is made in Kilmarnock Ayrshire Scotland,
Actually, Dermot is probably spot on with his insight into Ciara's seemingly unique ability to ignore the tastes and smells of things that would be offensive to most other folks.
She is so entertaining to watch,
especially along with Dermot.

What is terf?
Yes, the Spinal Tap comment was true gold for me too. She earned even more points there.

Great episode. Thank you Joseph and all the tryers on this shoot. You are a king among kings Joseph..
Joseph Madden coming out of no where and treating these fine folks is the stuff of legends. Respect, Joe! Good on you!
Thank you Joseph for allowing the gang to Keep On TRYin' !!!!!!
My favorites are black, double black, & blue label.
I love how you all were ever so grateful for the blue label gift.
Wow. Didn't expect to learn Ciara's origin story today. She's has a true Irish heart because the country was literally force-fed to her. Far more compelling than Wonder Woman, if you ask me.
The land is literally in her bones! 😆

Grand idea. Also add in Leather Jacket Guy. The channel is sadly lacking without him and John
I tried it years ago. My wife's cousin at the the time, asked me what I thought. I told him it was an old man's drink. Scotch is not for me. And my former brother-in-law was a conceited ass. He got it as a gift from a client.
Justine doesn't really like whiskey, remember?

Blue would never lie to anyone. You could put it in a Milwaukee's Best can and it would still knock your socks off. Special brew
Green and Gold labels are well worth trying. Blue has a few distilleries in the blend which have been out of business for over 30 years. Martin would have been great to watch in this one as well!
I’d even venture to say that the 18 year is better than Blue.

Absolutely!
I am basically a beer lover but I have tasted the different types of whiskies in different countries and I have started loving whiskies as well. My conclusion after all of my experience are :

We've finally witnessed the telling of Ciara's origin story. Outstanding.
Red: If you want to remove your enamels, it's fine.
Fire/Ice: Why?
Black: decent on the go 12-year blended
Double Black: Smokier than Black. So... Nice
