I bought a bottle of 12 yr Glenfiddich (when the bottles were triangles and the containers were round) back in 1976 and was saving it for my unplanned "future" wedding. Somewhere in the 80's, my alcoholic stepmother found it in a box of stored stuff and drank it like cheap beer, probably not even slowing down enough to taste it and totally clueless as to what she was chugging. I still imagine what it must have tasted like. 😢

25y ago I was working in London on a building site with a mate , and was staying in a very expensive hotel , due to being on expenses, I ordered a glenfidy n lemonade , in the very expensive hotel bar, and I had never tasted such a smooth , flavoured , lovely whiskey, the lemonade was in small bottles of shweeeps, I intended on just having one before bed, but we stayed there till the early hours, just savouring the drink, excellent,

Thanks so much guys. I always wondered why my beloved 15 yr was so different compared to the 12, 14, and 18 year versions. Blindly tasting and preferring the 15, then the 18, then the 12 and finally the 14 was a mystery. I have had both Select and Reserve. If you can find the reserve, buy it. The select might as well be the basic 12.

The 15 is my favourite in terms of 'bang for your buck'. If the 18 was higher ABV, even 43%, it would push the 15 close. Glenfiddich is one of the distilleries that still uses direct fired stills along with Macallan, Glenfarclas and Springbank that I know of. They say that this process gives more depth of flavour and complexity. I think if Glenfiddich presented their whisky at a higher ABV and without chill filtration and colouring it would be a thing of beauty. Great show guys.

I have two comments. First a solera is a system of interconnected casks that are used to age Spanish sherry. The youngest wine is poured into the top of the system, and the aged wine is drawn from the bottom. Second, a bottle that I try to have at all times is a liter of Grant's. This whisky is a blend that I understand is made by Glenfiddich. It has the triangular bottle that is or was typical of the Glenfiddich line. The attraction for this retired teacher is that Trader Joe's has the Grant's liter bottle for $15.

i always keep a bottle of the 14 year old bourbon barrel finish because almost all my friends are bourbon or irish wiskeey drinkers so the glenfiddich 14 is a nice dram to start introducing scotch to your friends while also still being able to enjoy it yourself. If i had to drink glen 14 everyday i would not be upset its a beautiful light spirt with alot of hints of pears and honey for me

Does the 14 still have the strong pear and green apple (kinda sour) smell and taste that the 12 has? I love that sweet green apple Jolly rancher nose that the 12 has. My local Costco has the 14 bourbon barrel and I am tempted to get it if so lol

Picked up 18 for 55 eur, about a price of Laga 16. It's really nothing to be amazed about, yet can't find anything to complain about either. This bottle serves its original purpose perfectly. I get it, cask strength is the goal, but when you just wanna take a break from sherry bombs, you can't go wrong with 18 or in my case I also always keep a bottle of Teerenpeli Kaski.
Really wanna try a Winter Storm or any other ice wine finish, since I heard it's disappointing. Unfortunately it's nowhere to be found. IPA, XX, Fire & Cane ofc are already pre-ordered. Travel retail will be mine as soon as lock down is lifted.
Overall, everything that I had from Glenfiddich so far was totally worth it.

I got a bottle of "small batch 18" and it's in a dark dark blue triangle bottle. It's 43% abv. It says, "after 18 years in oloroso sherry and Bourbon casks, our aged malts are married in small batches for a rich and elegant complexity." Why is does it not have a brown label?!?! Is the one in this video better on your opinion? And it doesn't say small batch "reserve." But it does have this bottle pictured on their website if i click 18 year under their flagship scotches

At $30, Glenfiddich 12 will always remain a staple in my home bar. Glenfiddich 15 is nice, but out of the whole range suffers the most from being 40% in my opinion. It's such a great profile yet feels so watered down. Would love to see a 46% version of this. 18 year is definitely a nice further maturation of the 12 with a higher sherry content and for $90, it's definitely one of the most affordable 18 years you can get in my area. Would love to see a 46% version of it too. When it comes to the 14 year, I had one bottle I enjoyed and one I did not. Not sure what that was about.
I've always heard the 12 year was a 90%/10% split of ex-bourbon/ex-oloroso with the 18 year being 80%/20% split. Not sure if that's true or not.
Out of the Experimental Series, I've only tried the IPA and Fire & Cane. I really did not like the IPA one, but I am not a big IPA beer fan so maybe that was why. I thought the Fire & Cane was a bit unharmonious, yet I really enjoy it. It is experimental after all and I appreciate Glenfiddich trying different things like that. Will probably try the Project XX next.

Definitely the 12 is a welcomed household staple. The butterscotch delivers! The 14 is remarkable, but definitely different in that leaning more towards American bourbon.
For a higher abv that many wished Glenfiddich lineup had, I’ve discovered a remarkable scotch in Glen Fohdry Darach Caribbean. A solid speyside at 47% with fruit burst from the Caribbean rum casks. Really solid scotch!

I have an unopened bottle of 30YO I bought in Schiphol airport in 2001. I’m saving it for a special occasion. I’m afraid that special occasion will be my funeral and I’ll die never having tasted it. I had better get to drinking soon!

I accidentally drank the rest of a bottle of Glenfiddich Special Old Reserve that wasnt mine when i was drunk thinking i could just go to the store and replace it with the 12year gelnfiddich. Anyways its not the same and I cant find it anywhere. Is it actually special and old? I think i really fucked up.

I've been wanting to get into scotch/whiskey drinking for a couple months now. I was looking at the glenfiddich 12 yesterday and nearly bought it for my first bottle. I went for the haig clubman instead though, not sure why its just stood out to me, it was ok, ot hasn't put me off but not rushing to try more either. For a beginner which one you recommend?

Glenfiddich 12 is a real easy drinking Whisky and good to start your scotch journey. If you want to try other brands I could suggest the Glenmorangie 10 or the Glenfarclas 10. Highland Park 12 is great too but it´s slightly peated which might not be the best for starters. If I were you, I´d just go for the Glenfiddich 12 or the Glenfarclas 10 which is in my opinion, slightly more interesting.

@@luca-sandroandreoli8657 thank you for the advice. I actually bought a bottle of glenfiddich 12 yesterday. On the nose I found it quite pleasant but to drink it had an unpleasant burn. Ill look at the others you mentioned and give them a try instead. I'm not sure where my recent interest comes from but I really want to find one I like.

@@craigwatson7692 Well I´m glad if I can help. The burn usually reduces with age of the Whisky. But of course it then also increases in price. So you´ll have to see if an older bottle might be affordable for you, still considering that you might not like it. Usually you get used to the burn anyway. Most people are just not used to drink spirits with 40 % abv and higher straight.
