Don't miss this important discussion about managing menopause symptoms! Dr. Sharon Malone, Certified Menopause Practitioner, Chief Medical Advisor, Alloy Women's Health and NYT Bestselling Author.
A 2002 study connecting hormone use and an increased risk of breast cancer has been challenged for many years, and a new study directly contradicts the study's findings, turning it on its head. Dr. Malone breaks it all down for us.

Do you have any questions about hormone use for menopause? Put them below and I'll get the answers for you!
May I ask what you do to help your testosterone levels since you do not receive testosterone? I am currently receiving testosterone pellets and take progesterone. So far my estrogen is holding its own. The testosterone is making my hair fall out.
@@karisutphin8718 You have to lower your dose and see what happens. I just started taking DHEA...Hoping to find a doctor in the next 6 moths that specializes in menopause.
How can you ask people to list their questions and then ignore them? Just a ploy to help your algorithm. Doesn't exactly Inspire confidence.
I am a male internist. I prescribed HRT from 1987 till moving into a hospitalist role in 2018. I am now fully retired. HRT is easy for women without a uterus, just estrogen. The ones with a womb need progesterone, but I cycled them only every 4th month. And gave the progesterone at the start of the month to avoid the many holidays at the end of the month. Suffice it to say, I had many female patients.
She’s a good doctor, reminds me a lot of Dr Taylor
I can only share from my own experience.
I had a complete hysterectomy at 40.
I was prescribed and used an estrogen-only patch for over 10 years. I took an average dose and changed the patch twice a week. I could tell a positive difference in my mood. I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer this year. I had to get off the hormone patch cold turkey. That did not phase me. I would not take it for so long if I had it to do again - just long enough to work through the menopause process after a hysterectomy which included removing both of my ovaries.
This dr is so knowledgeable. I saw her on the Oprah Daily Menopause video. Thank you for doing this interview.
Thank you so much for this video. I am peri menopausal and I have my good days and bad days. Self-esteem is in the toilet.
This was an amazing video with so much useful information! I’m just starting to go through weighing the pros and cons and it’s been difficult to know who to fully trust 😢
Tamsen this is one of the very best videos I’ve watched about menopause - I’ve been struggling with doctors to place me on HRT - I’m 62 post menopausal am diabetic type 2 and overweight though I have lost 55 pounds and close to reversing my diabetes - the advice I continue to receive from doctors is that HRT is not recommended because of my current health conditions- surely there are other women who are DT2 who are on HRT - meanwhile I continue to suffer with chronic insomnia low mood brain fog and muscle aches and hot flushes - so the question is can post menopausal women who have not previously taken HRT and are diabetic commence HRT - greetings from Sydney Australia - thank you for advocating for women
Thank you for an upbeat intro to draw viewers in and a moderately energized and authentic conversation that wasn’t a pure downer like so many menopause-related videos out here. Looking forward to more from you Tamsen!
this means so much to me. thank you!!!
Enjoy this episode so much! Thank you! Great info but maybe you can do another one with the more specific suggestions on what to take or what meds are available or what to ask from the gyn. 🎉❤
yes for sure
I am so grateful for Tamsen's videos. Thanks so much to you both for this discussion 🙏🏻. I love that I can listen to the conversations over podcast too while in the car, etc. I learn so much with each interview. Thank you!
This was a great conversation. Thank you.
There are women that have no hormones because that's how they were made, my friend is like that and takes hormones since 18, she's fine. Why aren't studies done with those type of women. I know my friend is the only one out there with this issue.
Thank you, there's your study.
Hi, yes I have a question! Could u find out why the hormone doctors do not like the pellets? I have used them for 7+ years with great results;
no hot flashes, improved bone quality (proven by 5 years of dexa scans), great skin, hair & nails, etc. They seem to always push the creams or patches but not everyone can absorb creams and the patches don't stay on well & u have to change them twice a week. BTW--I'm 64!!
Thx for doing these videos! They are much needed!
Do you take progesterone?
Pellets are untested and unregulated, often don’t contain the hormones the marketers claim to be in them, and they’re not covered by insurance and are quite expensive.
Great conversation!! Thank you.
What is the best HRT on the market currently. I am brand new to the idea. I would like to try HRT. THANKS!!!
Thank you for this BONDAGE BREAKING information !!!
I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer again in the same breast after surviving 20 years ago. I was 38 years old when I was first diagnosed and now I was diagnosed again on February 2, 2023 age 58. It has been recommended to remove the right breast and start hormone therapy. I was offered the following hormone therapy: Tamoxifem (NO); Aromatase Inhibitors: Amastrazole or Latrozole. I found another hormone: Exemestane. I am looking for a hormone therapy replacement with fewer amount of side-effects. I was diagnosed with carcinoma in situ! I just start having hot-flash which I manage with liquid black cohosh!.
I take HRT Estrogen/progesterone and I'm afraid to stay on it or get off of it! It's the WHI theory it affects me like The Tuskegee Study. I got on it because my symptoms were overwhelming -are plant-based estrogen and real progesterone a good choice!
And this is why so many professionals and women who are well educated in this area realize the WHI 2002 study was a terrible disservice to any woman who wanted to take away the symptoms of menopause.. Literally, don't pay that study any mind. What is being taught currently is more on point and women are able to get help now. the type you are using is fantastic it's a lot safer and patches are great because there's no first pass effect through the liver. Micronised progesterone is very safe.
Thank you for doing these videos! Could u find out why doctors do not like pellets? I've had excellent results using them for 6+ years...creams and patches are pushed I feel over the pellets.
I will find out. I have heard that quite a bit as well…
Hi Dr. Fadal! Is it too late at 58 to start HRT? I've tried to live menopause symptoms for over 10 years and it's evolved into debilitating symptoms. If I start now, would there be a significant difference in how I feel, or have I missed the bus?
God help us!
Recommend something to me tht will manage my hot flashes.
I cant concetrate at work or in a meeting.
My uterus, cervix and left ovaries were removed.
Have you tried transdermal Estradiol patch?
Thoughts on giving estrogen and progesterone as bio rhythmic- starting estrogen then adding progesterone at day 13-14 then both?
Hi will hrt help with hair loss?
Do I need a yearly mammogram because I take HRT
You should have them regardless.
I love these videos! Could u please find out why most doctors do not like the pellets? I've used them for 6+ years with great results which I measure by doing dexa scans & blood work for cardiac numbers. They always seem to push the creams (which dont get absorbed evenly) and /or the patches which u have to change by weekly and/or dont stick right.
Thanks for these videos, women need to be informed!
How long after menopause is it ok to get hormone treatment? I believe I will benefit from hormone treatment but have not had a menstrual cycle for 2 years now.
it is a good time to go talk to a doctor for sure-
What we have to do is - slow down, don't panic, don't be fearful. Just take it easy on yourself ladies. It is a natural process and look at it from all angles. Hrt was given a hard sell to women during ww2, and a lot of emotion and shaming was used in the advertising campaign. I looked into this because I have been offered hrt. It is without doubt, a massive cash cow. Not saying some of it can't help, but red wine, a glass a day, can increase oestrogen and also good quality coffee. Probiotic pessaries, vit E. Seabuck oil. All the women I know on hormones are having problems, I want to find or hear from someone who is totally happy with it. I am searching and trying to explore other options. HRT can't be the only option, surely....
Many women are happy with HRT. There is a doctor here on UA-cam who is on HRT herself and is super happy with it, Dr. Susan Hardwick. Also other women on UA-cam line Dominique Sacshe, and Hot n Flashy. They all rave about HRT.😊
Your comment is full of so much misinformation. Do you also tell diabetics to not take insulin (which is a natural hormone) or people with hypothyroidism to not take thyroid medication (which is a natural hormone)?
