Sony has never shy'd away from announcing their exclusive deals. Xbox Series S has been an issue since the beginning. Xbox doing this is firstly very unprofessional. Are they really trying to dodge the issues here?

I’m leaning towards “the Xbox series S optimization” being the issue. It’s been a pattern for a couple of big games now.

You could swoop in anytime and sign a deal. No developer has an obligation to release their games on all platforms. Maybe they truly are having delays because of optimization and Sony saw the positive reception to the game and saw an opportunity to lock it down even longer . Anything is possible, but more likely than not the Xbox executives probably misspoke I mean they do that all the time .

Then why aren’t Sony shouting about it from the rooftops,making customers aware that it’s a timed exclusive to PlayStation.
We’re the minority, i.e. people who actually follow gaming news; whereas the vast majority of gamers will have absolutely no idea the game won’t be on Xbox day one.
Therefore Sony would want to let EVERYONE know about it if they had in fact paid money to make it exclusive.
It would’ve been in the recent State of Play at the bare minimum.
Playstation would've stated it was exclusive as a way to promote to buy the game on their console.
Physical version will not be out day 1.

I personally don't think any deal was made with SIE, if so they (Sony PS) would've made a big deal about it. Would just be stupid otherwise to hide it.
I think Xbox is just trying to deflect attention away from the Series S issue. Making a vague statement about deals is the real slimy move, especially when someone like Ryan McCaffrey, who, after noticing the missing Xbox logo, assumed Sony bought exclusivity and tweeted his theory to then delete it after Game Science clarifies the situation. They're feeding this type of behavior.
Don't forget that Series S is the majority of Series consoles sold. They'll say anything to avoid putting the S in a bad light.
It's times like these where I wish the other one (in this case SIE) would just say their side to end the speculation. If fact, I'd hope some of these "journalist" reach out to SIE to get a statement.
This is 100% Xbox's fault, this is been a repeated occurrence for multiple games including Baldur's Gate 3 Marvel versus Capcom collection etc. The council is underpowered and does not run Triple A games well, it's not just the S but the X too. Developers have lately Voice This satisfaction with Game Pass model and the lack of financial gain porting it on Xbox. The game sales just aren't there and it's not worth the effort this is Xbox for discouraging their players to not purchase games
After xbox spending 70 billion dollars buying one of the biggest publishers and do not forget buying bethesda, anything sony does in terms of locking down excluslvity is fine by me, and phill and alk the bots having a dig at sony could shut the f up!!!

Everyone knows Series-S is the problem. Most people knew after the first early reveals of the game it wasn’t going to run on last gen hardware. Sony probably advanced Game Science some money to integrate haptics and release the game when it’s finished rather than waiting for the Series-S version is done to launch.
Lol everyone knows that the real issue is that the series S f*cking sucks, Wukong isn't the first game Skipping xbox nor it will be the last.

@immortaldragon7980 who said it was great and powerful? I couldnt care less as im not 5 years old. Boldersgate 3 issue was due to a stupid parity clause that xbox issued to devs and the S had a lower Ram pool. It was hard to add finish the game without breaking that clause.
Wukong clearly had a release date for all platforms.

And if they studio says the reason the game is getting delayed it's because of the series S then I'm taking their word for it, and it could be atributed to many reasons, maybe series not powerful enough or maybe it's just a small studio and developing 2 version takes more time, or just straight up didn't prioritize a series S version but regardless of the circumstances this isn't the first time a game its getting delayed because of the series S, and one thing it's clear series X users are getting screwed really bad here because that parity clause.
Series X users should be getting wukong like everyone else on day 1 and series S user should be the ones waiting.

Game Science stated the reason for the delay weeks before the 'report' from -windows central- a media outlet directly owned by Microsoft claimed otherwise while trying to divert attention from the series s optimization issue by blaming a direct rival...

It’s hard to tell here really. I mean both could be true. Maybe they were looking at more delays, I mean we got that release date a while ago and preorders still hadn’t gone up yet. It could be that Sony wanted another holiday season or fall exclusive and said hey we’ll throw you some cash and resources, just focus on the Playstation version first. At that point it’s technically a deal, but it’s also that the XBox gets sidelined and does need optimisation that will come later. Who knows. Maybe Sony thought it bad PR since XBox is putting some games on Playstation.
I also think this is kind of a separate example because if this was moneyhatted, it wasn’t done so before marketing ramped up. It is one thing to moneyhat a game and it’s announced as such. Stellarblade walked the line as it was announced as multiplat when it was under the Project Eve name in it’s official announcement trailer. But it was still early enough that people kind of forgot about that. Black Myth was full steam ahead multiplat and it’s had this release date for a while now. If Sony moneyhats it at that stage, that is a really bad look. So I could see them wanting to cover this up.
The only argument against this would be why wasn’t Black Myth at State of Play instead of SGF. But the answer there could be that a deal was so recent that they already had that booked. I suspect we’ll probably never know and people will argue over this depending on which side they fall on. It is interesting though. Always some kind of drama I guess. Lol. Let’s be real though. XBox has done some scummy shit, Sony has done some scummy shit, and it’s anyone’s guess here. This does sound like something Sony would do. And XBox didn’t act like this when the much bigger Baldur’s Gate had issues with the S. So who knows. I don’t think it’s enough to convict Sony in the public court but it will be enough reasonable doubt to put a dark cloud on this game. I’m still hyped for it though.
I can't remember, but didn't Sony request that Baldurs gate be released the same day as Starfield😂.. If Sony did that, I think Sony is truly making deals under the table. Well, it wouldn't be surprising. Sony is in desperation for survival for games at the moment.
I hate when companies pay for exclusivity. But it's not like Xbox never done this before, they did that to Rise of the Tomb Raider, GTA IV DLC, COD Maps and all the fun stuff.

"Partnership deals" could mean many things, exclusivity deals could just be one of them, but publishing on multiple platforms could involves many deals beyond exclusivity. I suggest not to overinterpret PR statements and drive the narratives to stir controversies when there's none.
I literally defended the developers and think they're telling the truth. I think someone like Jez Corden who outright accuses Sony of making behind the scenes deals, they're the ones fueling this all.
Epic games has done this before with epic game store. Metro exodus for pc.

Stellar Blade was originally gonna be multi platform, it was even shown at the reveal. But then Sony swooped in and got publishing rights and further funded the game.
Right, but that was VERY early in development as we now know. Sony saw potential like 3 years ago and swooped in and invested in it. This is 2 months out from release. Very different to me.
Erm... not true PROJECT EVE was meant to come to all consoles, but STELLA BLADE is a 2nd party game that Sony may or may not own.

I don’t know about legal ramifications or anything about contracts. But I can’t imagine Xbox making an accusation like that, which they aren’t even really supposed to be talking about, puts a good spotlight on them for publishers who are thinking about working with Xbox.
Whats weird is that why would they wait so late to announce they have been having optimization issues. Also, why would they rush to get it out on the current date its set for? Would the smart thing be to wait until it's ready to launch on both consoles to maximize profits or to release on one platform?

What are you taking about? Why would Sony spend money on an exclusively deal and not market the crap out of it. I barely see any ads for the game. Stellar blade was promoted like crazy 3-4 months out. So did Sony pay to get an exclusive under the table deal for Baldur’s Gate 3? The developers claimed Xbox optimization issues too. This is what happens then you try to have 2 consoles with different specs. Lastly, let’s not act like the game will sell game busters on Xbox.
