Instead they have to think, predict and analyze cues in other words using their brain instead of spamming....But people complain that they have to work their brains and advocate for lowering the skill level to spamming and reducing the enjoyment level of others...lol

Souls games are rpgs. You grind if you are stuck. It's no different with this game. You get stuck on a boss you can't leave. It's linear game design.

Seems to have much better controls and camera than the Souls games. Which is the ONLY reason I can't stand Elden Ring. Nice graphics and enemies, worst controls in history. Game is not hard, it's all about memorizing attack patterns. But the shitty controls ruined it for me.

We went from callong every hard game a souls like to being way too obtuse about it. This video absolutely described a souls like.
It is souls-like 100%, I just hope it's as hard as the games in the genre.
@@deyandimitrov7287 I've watched a lot of reviews from whom played the game. It's very hard, not for average players. Not sure if it's harder than Dark Souls 1, but definitely harder than Elden Ring (no DLC).

To be fair the demo has so far been a boss rush with only word of mouth suggesting it’s more open ended but we’ll see
I'm still not confident that the game isn't a boss rush. Saying that other areas are "more open" and with NPC quests is not enough to put an end to my fears regarding exploration.
@@alexandervolgzangief6759 yeah it could be final fantasy 16 style where the exploration was limited, god of war did it very well by having a fairly linear game but a lot of puzzles and mechanics but they also showed this gameplay early on where as we’ve only seen boss battles so far and only 2 months until release…
@@JLudd don't know if I'm being too pessimistic, but I'm expecting an exploration scope much more limited than what we have in these games you mentioned.

No one that knows how souls games work ever dies 100 times on a boss. Only stubborn people who don't understand you're supposed to explore and level up and come back stronger.
Souls fans would rather scream git gud on forums and waste time roll dodging on weed than do something productive.

@@vibrent1 The point I’m making is, before i had time to play games. But now after work,i just come home and I want to sit on my couch open a game and play. Be it easy or hard mode. I used to say that back then.. “ Just explore and level up” , yeah sure…but I’m not willing to spend 100 hours in a video game just trying to max a character so that i pass a boss. Not anymore :(

Thank god for that. It's not quite enough for me to pull the trigger yet, but that's a massive plus in their favor from me.
Aside from the elden ring dlc, this my most anticipated game release since covid. We also have GOW ragnarok dropping in sep, DB sparkling zero in Oct!

Alan Wake 2 took a year for the disc to come out. I'm sure we'll go one by the end of 2025.

I think they’ll release one eventually and also have to clarify that currently there’s a mistranslation about the “physical” version. It’s actually “collector’s version” in Chinese so not Physical version (thanks IGN for the perfect word choice😅)

No stamina bar and mindless evasive one animation rolls, this and stellar blade are how it's done; balaic, slick and fluid af combat 👏👏

2:19 same Lu Bu looking helmet we saw in Wo Long Fallen Dynasty and Three Kingdoms Zhao Yun, so i'm guessing this will be a lot of the same three kingdoms story and play much like Wo Long does.

The combat system doesn't sound particularly appealing thus far... Pretty though. I'm pretty confident I'll feel differently when I try it.

Fromsoft fans will never admit it but souls games have some of the jankiest animations. Look at this on the other hand, the combat flows like water with how good the animations are.

The last souls game to have janky animations was Dark Souls 2…….. that was over a decade ago. I agree this games animations are on another level, but to say ALL souls games, especially the last 5 of them, have janky animations is just plain lying

The animations are not the issue, but the worst controls and camera in history. Game is "difficult" only because the control scheme is so clunky.

I understand that you are excited about the upcoming game, but it is important to remain objective and not make assumptions about its quality before it has been released. It is unfair to call it the game of the year before it has even come out. Let's wait and see how the game is received before making any judgments.
While you make a very good point, I think it's part of the fun of gaming. We all hype or have hyped games in the past. If the game does not live up to it then it's not the end of the world, you simply move on. I don't think it's unfair to anticipate a game to be a potential game of the year or your own personal game of the year again, it's part of what makes gaming fun for some. I think it's best to let people just enjoy things the way they want. You can choose to be objective or blindly hype a game up, it should just be fine as long as you're having fun and respecting others opinion even if you don't agree with them.
to be honest every major game that came out this year has gone through the same process, FF7 rebirth / Stellar Blade even Dragon's dogsma lol it's all marketing hype, also this is the first AAA game from China so understandably the hype and bias over there will be overwhelming
I don't understand why a game needs to be game of the year. I've reached a point where the best game experience I had in a particular year was a game released 3 years ago that wasn't game of the year anyways.

What elements make it different from Souls like ? Can we set difficulty in this game ?
The developers themselves iirc mentioned the difficulty and learning curve are different from Fromsoft games. The lack of main weapon functions and existence of a skill tree are also not in the souls formula.
After watching many review videos about the testplay, I think Black Myth is much faster, with new design in battle. Also I don't think the level design is going to be as good as Souls like(not visual, but level design). There are sure elements drawn from Souls like but it is definitly going to be different.
Faster combat, only one weapon but several skills and stances for that weapon, no blocking, less reliant on parrying. Bayonetta style dodging. Etc
The combat mechanics, animations, graphics, environment are just top tier
Fast pace, can cancel action in the mid, no death punishment :)
I'll give this a try. I suck at fromsoftware games. I don't have the time to master the skills. Hope this is more like ghost of tsushima

At first I was like yeah this is like souls like but when I watched more of the videos that are out, I saw to many similarities to God of War combat and at that point I said this game is going to be amazing and the story well that's going to be awesome to! GOTY content hopefully?
Calling it a "modern God of War game" seems like a better sales pitch than another souls-like title, don't you think?
There are certain aspects of black mythology like soul: soul likes lack of animation, lack of main story, interactivity, fragmentation, riddles. The map is not linear, multi-route branching emphasizes the exploration nature of the map, there are bonfires, no minimaps, no guidance, monster refreshes, and some boss battles before a lot of running map. No difficulty Settings, extremely simplified combat system, almost light and light attacks, flat a, highlighting boss battle games, weak level design, almost no few organs, environmental interaction elements, no decryption. Enhanced map branching and exploration (not much),
For me it is. I played Demon's Souls on release and never got into a souls title again.

Some people confuse "souls-like" with action rpgs. There were games with dodge, block, parry mechanics before Dark Souls, there were action rpg games that required reflexive gameplay before Dark Souls. People started calling games "souls-like" because they were difficult, punishing and without any option for a lower difficulty(That's how Dark Souls got popular in the first place, players dying a lot and devs saying it was intended, even released "Prepare to Die Edition"), not because they thought soul-like games invented the whole action rpg genre. If a game is at a certain difficulty while being an action rpg, then it is a souls-like game. If it has difficulty options below that high difficulty or simply is not difficult, then it's not a souls-like game, just an action rpg. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel and label everything.

The graphics have been downgraded. It being on PC always gimps graphics. It being on Xbox definitely gimped graphics. This game should of been a PS5/PS5 pro exclusive. Bloodborne looks better than this

I'ma be honest, it definitely still looks like a souls like, it looks more akin to be a Sekiro pacing of game than souls but I don't think I would not call Sekiro a souls like.. because its more akin to the Souls games than anything else, while having many original ideas of its own. It also doesn't really look like God of War either at all, based off this gameplay and other gameplay I have seen.
If anything this feels like an attempt capture a lot of what Sekiro did but for Chinese Mythology, probably done better than Wu Long did.

People should play more games if they think anything that has a checkpoint system and stamina meter "Souls-like".

You can tell these people have never played a fast-paced action game like Ninja Gaiden Black. Sure, Black Myth: Wukong may not be a Souls-like, but if they think it's not going to be difficult, they have another thing coming. At any rate, I have no idea where all this pushback against difficult games is coming from. If it's because of the Elden Ring DLC, there are multiple ways to mitigate the difficulty.

So there must be more of the game time that we will fight against creeps as we did in God of War. I doubted it as the advertisements of BM:W game only showed the scenes of the protagonist vs a bunch of mini bosses. That’s why people are concerning if it’s more a souls like game, and… If we refer God of War, there must be puzzles along the way of gameplay. That is a very identical feature in the modern God of War. Glad if this one would also have that. Can you please confirm?

I love how any ARPG with bonfire like checkpoints, bosses, dodging, or stamina is immediately declared a "Souls-like". Yet Black Myth Wukong, which literally has all of these features, is not being called a "Souls-like" just because the developer said so.
