Use my build at the end of the video if you are a similar or higher level than me and are struggling, Im level 150 in ng+7 and i used erdtrees favour +2, viridian amber medallion+1, two-headed turtle talisman and greatshield talisman. My wonderous physick flask had Opaline Hardtear and Greenburst Crystal Tear. My gear was the Fingerprint shield and Mohgwyns Sacred Spear, and for armour I had helm, chest, gauntlets and legs of fortitude(Yes you will be heavy load but that wont matter because your shield will be the one doing all the work in keeping you alive). My stats were 45, 20, 55, 50, 14, 9, 9 and 37 in the order of the stats going from top to bottom, also use a mimic tear summon in 2nd phase, because in 1st phase he will already be too low health to survive 10seconds in 2nd phase. I chose to stay at that level for pvp reasons, you could argue that I can start another playthrough for just that, but then I would have to get all the gear and everything again and I just really can’t be bothered 😂😂😂
imma keep it a buck... that's a corny ass way to do it. instead of learning the fight and skillfully beating it. Its not impossible at all. i beat it with double curved sword build with med load and full defensive talismans + damage negation physick. At +15 fragment upgrades.
Insanely cool reveal once you realize the threads this fight ties together. This fight and the descriptions from the Young Lion armor confirm that Malenia fought Radahn on behalf of Miquella, hoping to either force him to become Miquella's consort or kill Radahn and leave his soul up for the taking. Radahn must have refused to honor his promise to become Miquella's consort for some reason, maybe because he was too kind hearted to wage the wars needed for Miquella to become the god of their world. When we kill both Radahn and Mohg, we basically gave Miquella the ultimate candidate to be his consort and Lord, a Radahn in his prime with both his divine strength and gravity magic, and an innate talent for using blood flame because he's using Mohg's body. Since Miquella has the power to charm people as well, Radahn would be unable to refuse like he did prior, thus making the strongest being alive in the Lands Between Miquella's puppet. Did not expect Miquella to be a master manipulator but it's a really cool development. I can understand the mixed reactions tho, a part of me hoped Godwyn would somehow make a return despite his body's horrorific transformation. Still, this fight was amazing and I'm glad we finally found out why Radahn and Malenia fought in the first place.
I'm genuinely a good explorer when it comes to from soft games but the place they Ansbach in for his second step is really easy to miss honestly, its a side path that I thought led back to where I was before
You know, in hindsight, having to also kill Radahn to enter the DLC should *really* have been a clue that we'd be seeing *something* relating to him in the Shadowlands.
We all didn't think that because I think we all thought that just had to do with radahn holding back the stars, thus holding back peoples fate or whatever.
@@Мэв-в5э I spent 8 hours in total on him: 5,5 with a big sword only, I almost killed him in an hour, but screwed up in the end and couldn't reach the same result again. The next day I took a parry and killed him in 2,5 hours (I had to learn it from scratch because I never used parry in these games besides Gwin). I couln't handle him without parries... But 21 hours on the first phase, bro...second phase is 3x stronger, his ass is getting fried there🤕
sadly even this is not radahn in his prime, since it's still mogh's body. Radahn's actual body is way bigger than this one, imagine him doing all this shit while also being the same size he was in his original bossfight
@@Distophic I thought that at first, but in that cinematic of him fighting malenia before the scarlet rot he seems about the same size as he is in his normal bossfight. I've seen videos of people making consort radahn and malenia fight in game, and the size difference is nowhere close to what it was seen in the cinematic. Radahn really was that big

So i became aware Radahn would come back thanks to the npc side quests. The old guy told me miquella was gonna put radahns soul inside of mohgs body. I guess everyone else playing this game ignored the side quests
Just becuase they said it in a side quest, doesn’t make it good writing. Turning radahn, from the coolest, most powerful demigod, into a gay servant, of a child femboy is not good writing. Not to mention miquella is his half brother. Whoever wrote the story needs to have their hard drive checked.

Btw if y’all are confused. From the very start of Elden ring, miguella had a plan to resurrect radahn and become a god. And they needed moghs body, so they charmed him(mind control) so he has a weird obsession with them. Once we defeated both, she took radahn’s soul and put into the empty husk of moghs body which in turn resurrected radahn. That’s why before you enter the dlc you have to defeat both of those bosses. And that’s also why radahn has bloodflame magic.
The body doesn’t seem to be mohgs body 1:1, it’s been morphed by miquella to harbour radahn, as weirdly enough the only omen horns left have been attached to the gauntlets
The coolest part of the opening cutscene is that Radahn is waiting for you in the exact same manner he did with Malenia. Both of you get a rematch in your respective prime in an honorable duel. Just as he waited for Malenia to resolve herself for their battle, he awaits at the apex for you. He could have gone off and become Miquella’s consort, but he holds off at the gate and wants to challenge you, the one who killed him, properly, one more time. (Only for Miquella to intervene half-way into the fight to control Radahn directly) Radahn himself holds you in high regard. Even when brainwashed, Radahn remains one of the coolest, honorable, and most respectful character in all of FromSoft. (Radahn is incarnated in a new body so he isn’t in his prime but this would be as close as we could get)
It's either Prime Radahn or an even more powerful version. We also don't know if Radahn is being brainwashed or mind controlled, or is simply honoring the part of a vow he made with Miquella. I suspect that it's a vow that Radahn never thought Miquella would be able to keep, or at least it's an agreement between them that Radahn isn't totally happy with, since he says nothing.
@@BLK_MN I only assume the former as at least according to what we know about Radahn, while he shares the same goal as Miquella, he prefers a different method. Halting the stars does two things, it prevents the influence of Outer Gods _outside_ the Lands Between, and protects the Carian royal family from their fate as it is guided by the stars. But conquering the stars was only a temporary measure. If he had plotted with Miquella to become God and Consort without the need of the Elden Ring, he never would’ve attacked Leyndell or needed his Great Rune. If he possessed a Great Rune and attacked Leyndell, his goal would’ve been the Erdtree. Miquella’s goal is become a god without either the Elden Ring OR the Erdtree. While he might have sympathized with Miquella’s goal for an Age of Compassion which drove away the Outer Gods permanently, and believed his wish innocent and just. He never would’ve fought Malenia or Morgott if he didn’t agree with Miquella’s plan. Radahn vs Malenia is either something instigated by Miquella or spearheaded by Malenia alone out of envy, as Radahn was already in his prime, so inflicting him with the Scarlet Rot would go against Miquella’s desire as he would have needed Radahn at his strongest to combat the Outer Gods, which again, he managed to accomplish as he was. The only way Miquella could “obtain” Radahn and make him strong enough to still inact his plan close to his prime was to fuse his soul with the corpse of the recently deceased Mohg. Only in the process of the creation of this new incarnation can Miquella achieve both obtaining Radahn who rejected him, and fulfill the secret rite. What really cements this argument is Malenia fight with Radahn and unleashing the Scarlet Aeonia. Even if Radahn initially agreed to Miquella’s plan, part of the rite of ascension in the divine gateway was “the *soul* of the chosen lord”, meaning Miquella would’ve had to have killed Radahn. So Malenia’s fight, which occurred before Miquella traveled to the Realm of Shadows where he discovered the Secret Rite Scroll, must imply that Radahn resisted Miquella’s plan. He couldn’t have gone to the Realm of Shadows and then ordered Malenia to kill him for his soul, as he could only travel to the Realm of Shadows once he was taken by Mohg, which occurred during the Battle of Aeonia, as Malenia returns to the Haligtree now an empty husk. If Miquella’s staged kidnapping DID happen before Malenia’s march to Caelid, and Malenia believed Radahn had taken him and marched to Caelid to “take him back”, that would mean that by some method, Miquella would have to have been “kidnapped” by Mohg and Ansbach while under the security of Malenia and the Cleanrot Knights. Which would’ve been highly unlikely, and even if they did manage that, Malenia would have to have completely jumped to conclusions and believe Radahn and the Redmanes of all people would have kidnapped Miquella. Which is less unlikely. TL;DR Miquella’s ascension to godhood required Radahn’s death and a vessel according to the Secret Rite Scroll, a fact he would only learn once he reached the Realm of Shadows. The fact that Radahn fights Malenia would imply resistance to Miquella’s plan, as even if he wanted to “die honorably” he resists the Scarlet Rot, and definitely would not have approved betraying everyone, Ohga, Jerren, etc., by letting Malenia unleash the Scarlet Aeonia and destroying Caelid; as even in his insanity, he doesn’t betray Leonard. So he does not approve of Miquella’s plan and even resists it by trying to fight Malenia, whom he granted an honorable duel as she was conflicted abandoning the Unalloyed Gold Needle and embracing the rot to defeat Radahn. As the needle was originally in her arm, and we see her adjusting her prosthetic before their duel which was probably when she resolved herself and broke the needle. And Miquella is able to fulfill his wish without Radahn’s consent by putting his soul in the only usable demigod body that has also been corrupted by his charm, trapping Radahn’s soul in a charmed body. (This part is pure speculation) It’s only during our fight with Radahn do we see a bit of his true personality and rage leak out as the red aura around him is immediately drowned out by Miquella’s golden aura as he intervenes with duel to control Radahn directly, which is supported by the fact that during his grab attack he brings you to Miquella, instead of fighting you directly in your duel, as if ordered by Miquella to do so. Radahn is Miquella’s trump card, but with Leda and the others, he is now his ONLY card, and his enemy is the one person who can actually be a threat to him and defeat Radahn.
Radahn needed to die. It is obvious only the dead can travel to the Land of Shadow after it got disconnected. Miquella "divested himself of his flesh", Mogh and Radahn both had to die for their body and soul to be brought over and everyone else in there is either native to the place or a Tarnished, and going by the opening cinematic, the tarnished are all dead, reviced by Marika's Grace

Malenia with no spirit ashes took me like an 1 1/2 hours~, and I felt like I was getting progressively better at her fight (even evade her waterfowl step), but 2nd phase radahn idk even hours later. His first phase is cake (even with parrying). Feel like I could parry his 2nd phase, but that's easier said then done, with how relentless he is....though been seeing the shield cheese...might have to at this point

I loved this fight and this boss so much, it's easily top 3 from the DLC for me, it was so cool having a prime Radahn fight, and alongside Miquella, he was indeed sooooo beautiful. For everyone playing the DLC : Read the new Radahn armor after this fight, it conects to the first trailers of the base game when he fights Malenia, which is pretty cool and probably shows how Miyazaki ( and Martin too ? ) had all planed all along. We all where charmed by Miquella into thinking he was the cool guy and we would help him destroy Messmer or some sht like that, definitely a cool thing that the lore was not predictable, loved the DLC.

Miquella is straight up on some anti christ manipulation in this dlc, griffith is the same way in berserk, being the embodiment of that archetype(?) perfectly id argue. It was very well written and done, and everything on the beginning of the DLC led us to believe we would help Miquella until we are not. 10/10 boss fight. Miquella probably just chose Radahn because he was the strongest of the demi gods, he looked up to Godfrey, he could control even the starts and put an pause on Ranni's fate, dude was not know as the mightiest demi god for no reason. 10/10 boss fight.

The only ones we dont are godwyn, ranni & melina. All technically dead, or atleast no body w melina. Just talking the dlc for a sec, i fw the pace of it both gameplay & story wise. Messmer is basically maliketh & melina rolled into 1, & w the latter it's fitting as theyre siblings. He's been abandoned & betrayed, yet he's also keeping something stowed away only his death can release. Gameplay wise, it's the final boss rush for the base game w fire giant (&melina's kindling) & mailketh, the npc fight, godfrey, & then radagon/marika. The dlc matches that w messer acting as the beginning of the last act I didnt mean to go off on an essay man, im sorry if this was a long read. Idc if it's too early, this is a 10/10 dlc imo. Tied up alot of loose ends from the base game, while leaving enough in the air to still ponder as you replay it all

All the people complaining about it being Radahn again are idiots. It ain't a re-used boss, movesets are completely different, and if any of you dumbass's actually listened to the NPC's you would know why it's Radahn. Miquella took Mohg's body and Radahns soul and used mohgs body as a vessel for radahns soul in the secret rite to bring Radahn back to life, and Miquella did all this so he could have a consort so he could ascend to godhood. (Marika had a consort, which was Godfrey, a consort is needed to ascend to Godhood) and the reason all that revival shit was possible is because "death" doesn't exactly exist in Elden Ring because of Marika shattering the elden ring and giving the rune of death to Malekith. The only things capable of actually killing things is the Black Knives and Malekith, or whoever is in possession of the Rune of Death. Also to people saying Fromsoft was taking risks by doing this. George R.R Martin didn't write any new story for the DLC, this shit was already part of the story and the lore, but just got put in the DLC instead of the base game. So if yall are going to blame someone for Radahn coming back, blame George R.R Martin.
Another theory is, when Miquella created halig tree to cure the rot but Mohg stole the seed in which Miquella resided before the tree could reach the full potential (Malenia still waiting there at halig tree for her brother )and in the beginning of the DLC, we see the tarnished touching the hand of Miquella to transported to the shadow realm, so everything happening in the DLC is fragment of imagination of Miquella. and reveals the true nature of Miquella (That he was trying to get Radahn to side with him to attain godhood which obviously Radahn rejected, which can also one of the reason why Malenia fought Radahn). So in current timeline, Radahn is gone, Miquella is gone and tarnished is already elden lord, so DLC is just like filler storyline which is revealing the connection between Radahn and Miquella which was unknown to others.
Nobody is complaining about the lore, but rather that the boss fight is absurdly unbalanced. Romina is the previous boss, and she's easy as fuck. Radahn and Miquella in the second phase don't stop spamming attacks, miracles and sending fromsoftware's shitty optimization to hell

Also it is explained in the game, I think the old guy from the Band says it, that Miquella took Mohg's remains for some reason and that he wanted to resurrect Radahn.

Really dont like the community here I hate the gatekeepers that are like "git good" instead of giving advice and treat summing like it's "for weak asses", it's a game, you should have fun and fun is subjective; this "elite player" bullshit is really annoying. On the other hand players that are constantly lamenting over the difficulty because they dont want to summon or change weapons are just dumb: you are forcing yourself over a challenge that isnt fun to you in the first place, why? The game gives you planty of options, try them. Then in my opinion there are bosses that have clear issues in this dlc, specifically Bayle and Radahn to the point where it's even dumber to say "git good" but that also are not so dishonest to justify review bombing

@@ProfessionalBadPerson Imo it's not well designed. It's thought to be fought by hitting his face yet he continuously dashes farward obstructing the camera and making It hard to hit him. On top of that he has some follow-up attacks at the end of his combo which are completely random: sometime you have a window to attack and sometimes not without any visual clue. And also he has a bit to much hp, moves his head a lot and has some attacks that are really hard on understanding how to Dodge and are even harder to if you lock him. That's my experience tho, and i get that someone may like this kind of "Chaos" more then the "Chaos" of the lion thingy.

Seems Miquella already ascended to Godhood by the time we arrive in Enir Ilim. I believe he's not dead yet, and not only is he not dead yet, but the DLC is not over either. I believe there will be an update. The ending seemed very abrupt and sudden. And Miquella dying because we killed his puppet makes no sense. Unless there's something I don't know within the lore, I want to believe there will be a part 2.
I don't think there will be a content update for the story. Miquella had already lost his body. Yeah he became a god but then the tarnished ended him with his promised consort, only a memory of their youth remained.
The reseon why he was defeated by us was because there can only be one lord, us or radahn. Also if miquellas order came to pass it's pretty much the world would become kinder but we would lose our free will.

Miyazaki really just hit us with: Mohg isn’t a child-molester, Mohg is actually a brainwashed victim of Miquella, the Molester Child. Oh, and so is Radahn.
So story wise, Miquella needed a consort to become the new replacement for marika/radagon. His initial plan seemed to have been to make godwyn his consort, but after the night of the black knives and Radahn preventing any hopes for Godwyns soul to be returned to his body, he instead adjusted his plans to make Radahn his consort. Radahn refused, and so miquella sent malenia to defeat him in the war of aeonia, which only partially worked and resulted in radahn staying alive for a good long while, albeit maddened by the scarlet rot. Presumably, during the battle, miquella found and bewitched mogh and had him carry his body to his dynasty to basically poison and kill himself with the blood magic so he could arrive at the realm of shadow. The realm of shadow is basically where all souls return to after death, as told by the suppressing pillar and a few other item descriptions. After you defeat mogh and radahn, moghs body is transported to the R.o.S., more specifically to the area where promised consort radahn is fought, in order to be used as a vessel for Radahn’s soul. This is evident through the omen horns and blood magic radahn now sports during your battle. While miquella waited for this to happen, he abandoned his flesh, his other half, and his love to become a god. When both he and P.C. Radahn were present at the crucible thingy, he would have been able to become a true god and not stay as an empyrian. His one flaw, however, is that through this action he would be no different from marika. She abandoned all she had left after her people were ritualistically massacred by the hornsent, and we all know how that went down. His “age of compassion” would be one where all love would be towards him with no love being reciprocated, resulting in yet another broken age of life in the lands between. It’s honestly quite a tragic tale for everyone involved. Mogh was manipulated and was used as no more than a vessel for someone else, radahn was poisoned with the scarlet rot and had his soul prevented from moving on, miquella tore himself apart to make no change in the world, etc etc. The DLC is quite intriguing lore-wise when you know where to look, and I really really really hope we get another one before the next souls game is made
Great interpretation. It is amazing how well rounded the whole story around Marikas offspring is written. Miyazaki and George really took this one out for a walk on the park.
It was crazy what all that i understand without guides, just listen NPC quotes and read discription of items. Miyazaki make storytelling quite easy to understanding in this DLC
One correction, Radahn didnt prevent Godwyn to be resurrected, his soul was not recoverable due to destined death. @@maddyfromwasI don’t think we even know if Radahn even made that vow. In all of the scenes and items, they are Miquella saying “he will be my consort”, but none of the lore shows Radahn making that vow. Even the memory cutscene is Miquella talking to himself.

Consort Radahn's helm description pretty much tells you that Malenia confronted Radahn on Miquella's behalf, which means that either Radahn didnt make that vow, or did but later backed out when he realised that he wouldn't be a warmonger anymore. That cutscene only wanted to point out that Miquella's intention were pure, but not that both of them were on the same page.

I feel like im the only one paying attention to the lore the characters in the game tell you. They literally tell you that Miquella took Mohg's body to revive Radahn.
So a bit of lore for you guys. Miquella, after the shattering, told Malenia about his plan to ascend to godhood. He sent her away to inflict the rot upon Radahn, cleaving his soul away and replacing it with the rot, as revealed by prime radahn's armor in which it says that Malenia told Radahn that he would be his consort. Meanwhile, Miquella enchants Mohg into steaing him away, thereby allowing him to divest his flesh and enter the realm of shadow. Once we kill Mohg (after Radahn), we enter the realm of shadow, and it is then that, thanks to us, he is able to steal away Mohg's body, as revealed by Sir Ansbach. Once in the realm of shadow, Miquella's rune continues to enchant the tarnished warriors into allegiance with him so that he may continue his plan, but as part of his plan he needs to destroy his rune, lifting the enchantment on the tarnished. At some point, he is able to fuse the body of Mohg with the soul of Radahn, as revealed by Prime Radahn having omen horns and the golden eyes of Marika's children and not Rennala's. Finally, during the battle with Prime Radahn, he is able to use a grab attack, that lifts you up to Miquella, and unless you have his discarded rune on your person that resist charms, he will insant-kill you through your own free will just giving up. The lore is a little convoluted, and Mohg is no longer the Mohglester but the Mohglested,but I overall enjoyed piecing together what I could. Lmk if I got anything wrong or have suggestions!

I didn't talk with every Npc, but I did manage to give the scroll to Ansbach. Even if I would miss it the final boss would still be my favorit souls boss.

When I replayed the dlc again (I needed a different build to take on him and I had save data backup) I ended up doing side quests this time and yeah the game outright tells you it’d be radahn if you did the ansbach quest

@@soulsenthusiasts1015 They also massively nerfed his damage and aggression. You can literally just check the ini files while fighting him if you're on PC and have it on disk. Revert it back to 1.01, and then compare it to the latest patch. His aggression value was equal to the DLC bosses currently, higher than Maliketh, higher even than second phase Malenia. It's currently lower than Godrick's. And the damage of his meteors, the ones he summons in the second phase, you should check those out too. At 40 vigor in NG, they one shot me on 1.01. But on the current patch, I can survive all four of them. And his weapon damage is about the same. His overhead slam brings the same character down to 10% HP from 100% at 1.01. But on the current patch, it takes away around 45%. People saying it was just the hitboxes haven't tested it themselves. BjornTheBear did a video of pre nerf Radahn against all bosses. He could literally compete with endgame bosses. Made it razor close with Godfrey, beat Radagon. With the right RNG he can beat Rykard and Elden Beast. Meanwhile current patch Radahn barely beats Morgott, and only because of his meteor phase transition being a crutch since it wasn't nerfed. But he loses to everything after that because his aggression has been nerfed so badly that all bosses melt him before he even phase transitions due to taking ten seconds in between reaching 50% health, enhancing his blades, going for the mandatory overhead slam, and then finally jumping up. He's almost always dead before he gets to do it. Radahn was nerfed into the ground. Even his hitboxes weren't "fixed", just nerfed. You can now stand at his legs and never get hit. What a waste of a beautiful boss. I'm glad the DLC redeemed him.

Technically, no. Radahn is the son of Renalla and Radagon, Mohg is the son of Marika and Godfrey, while Miquella is the son of Radagon and Marika, but I can understand the confusion.

@@Halo0115 totally agree, I've read so much item description tryna gain knowledge on the lore of the area because I wanted to gather as much info as I could on my first playthrough, finding out so much info from the items excited me so much to keep finding more and learning even more of the lore behind the land of shadows and its inhabitants, idk what it is about others that just wanna rush rush rush, mash mash mash just to get the end and look dumbfounded at things that were seriously staring then right in the face lmfaoo
I only really have two complaints about this fight: 1. I really wish that they'd incorporated more of Mohg's design into Radahn here. There's I think like 1 or 2 attacks in the whole fight that utilize bloodflame in any capacity, and the heavy armor makes it look like it's just Radahn again in terms of character design. Now, I'm not super in the weeds of Elden Ring lore, so this complaint might be invalidated by that; I just think that it would've been cooler and more thematic. 2. The light beams in the second phase are just waaaaay too much, and I don't just mean that they're hard to dodge. Fromsoft went super overboard on the brightness and number of the particle effects, to the point where even just casually watching the phase 2 fight started making my head hurt after a while; I can't imagine spending hours upon hours actually playing it and trying to beat it.
Use my build at the end of the video if you are a similar or higher level than me and are struggling, Im level 150 in ng+7 and i used erdtrees favour +2, viridian amber medallion+1, two-headed turtle talisman and greatshield talisman. My wonderous physick flask had Opaline Hardtear and Greenburst Crystal Tear. My gear was the Fingerprint shield and Mohgwyns Sacred Spear, and for armour I had helm, chest, gauntlets and legs of fortitude(Yes you will be heavy load but that wont matter because your shield will be the one doing all the work in keeping you alive). My stats were 45, 20, 55, 50, 14, 9, 9 and 37 in the order of the stats going from top to bottom, also use a mimic tear summon in 2nd phase, because in 1st phase he will already be too low health to survive 10seconds in 2nd phase. This fight and the descriptions from the Young Lion armor confirm that Malenia fought Radahn on behalf of Miquella, hoping to either force him to become Miquella's consort or kill Radahn and leave his soul up for the taking. Radahn must have refused to honor his promise to become Miquella's consort for some reason, maybe because he was too kind hearted to wage the wars needed for Miquella to become the god of their world. When we kill both Radahn and Mohg, we basically gave Miquella the ultimate candidate to be his consort and Lord, a Radahn in his prime with both his divine strength and gravity magic, and an innate talent for using blood flame because he's using Mohg's body. Since Miquella has the power to charm people as well, Radahn would be unable to refuse like he did prior, thus making the strongest being alive in the Lands Between Miquella's puppet.
Did not expect Miquella to be a master manipulator but it's a really cool development. I can understand the mixed reactions tho, a part of me hoped Godwyn would somehow make a return despite his body's horrorific transformation. Still, this fight was amazing and I'm glad we finally found out why Radahn and Malenia fought in the first place.
This actually makes sense it makes all the pieces of the story click together

The shock they all have at seeing Radahn just shows they really missed Ansbach's quest. Like, he says it all outright.
I'm genuinely a good explorer when it comes to from soft games but the place they Ansbach in for his second step is really easy to miss honestly, its a side path that I thought led back to where I was before

Btw if y’all are confused. From the very start of Elden ring, miguella had a plan to resurrect radahn and become a god. And they needed moghs body, so they charmed him(mind control) so he has a weird obsession with them. Once we defeated both, she took radahn’s soul and put into the empty husk of moghs body which in turn resurrected radahn. That’s why before you enter the dlc you have to defeat both of those bosses. And that’s also why radahn has bloodflame magic.
It’s implied radahn didn’t fully want to hence why he fought back when Melania was sent to kill him also miqullas a dude

The coolest part of the opening cutscene is that Radahn is waiting for you in the exact same manner he did with Malenia. Both of you get a rematch in your respective prime in an honorable duel. Just as he waited for Malenia to resolve herself for their battle, he awaits at the apex for you. He could have gone off and become Miquella’s consort, but he holds off at the gate and wants to challenge you, the one who killed him, properly, one more time. (Only for Miquella to intervene half-way into the fight to control Radahn directly)
Radahn himself holds you in high regard.
Even when brainwashed, Radahn remains one of the coolest, honorable, and most respectful character in all of FromSoft.
(Radahn is incarnated in a new body so he isn’t in his prime but this would be as close as we could get)
It's either Prime Radahn or an even more powerful version.
We also don't know if Radahn is being brainwashed or mind controlled, or is simply honoring the part of a vow he made with Miquella. I suspect that it's a vow that Radahn never thought Miquella would be able to keep, or at least it's an agreement between them that Radahn isn't totally happy with, since he says nothing.
@@BLK_MN I only assume the former as at least according to what we know about Radahn, while he shares the same goal as Miquella, he prefers a different method.
Halting the stars does two things, it prevents the influence of Outer Gods _outside_ the Lands Between, and protects the Carian royal family from their fate as it is guided by the stars. But conquering the stars was only a temporary measure.
If he had plotted with Miquella to become God and Consort without the need of the Elden Ring, he never would’ve attacked Leyndell or needed his Great Rune. If he possessed a Great Rune and attacked Leyndell, his goal would’ve been the Erdtree. Miquella’s goal is become a god without either the Elden Ring OR the Erdtree.
While he might have sympathized with Miquella’s goal for an Age of Compassion which drove away the Outer Gods permanently, and believed his wish innocent and just. He never would’ve fought Malenia or Morgott if he didn’t agree with Miquella’s plan.
Radahn vs Malenia is either something instigated by Miquella or spearheaded by Malenia alone out of envy, as Radahn was already in his prime, so inflicting him with the Scarlet Rot would go against Miquella’s desire as he would have needed Radahn at his strongest to combat the Outer Gods, which again, he managed to accomplish as he was.
The only way Miquella could “obtain” Radahn and make him strong enough to still inact his plan close to his prime was to fuse his soul with the corpse of the recently deceased Mohg. Only in the process of the creation of this new incarnation can Miquella achieve both obtaining Radahn who rejected him, and fulfill the secret rite.
What really cements this argument is Malenia fight with Radahn and unleashing the Scarlet Aeonia. Even if Radahn initially agreed to Miquella’s plan, part of the rite of ascension in the divine gateway was “the *soul* of the chosen lord”, meaning Miquella would’ve had to have killed Radahn. So Malenia’s fight, which occurred before Miquella traveled to the Realm of Shadows where he discovered the Secret Rite Scroll, must imply that Radahn resisted Miquella’s plan.
He couldn’t have gone to the Realm of Shadows and then ordered Malenia to kill him for his soul, as he could only travel to the Realm of Shadows once he was taken by Mohg, which occurred during the Battle of Aeonia, as Malenia returns to the Haligtree now an empty husk.
If Miquella’s staged kidnapping DID happen before Malenia’s march to Caelid, and Malenia believed Radahn had taken him and marched to Caelid to “take him back”, that would mean that by some method, Miquella would have to have been “kidnapped” by Mohg and Ansbach while under the security of Malenia and the Cleanrot Knights. Which would’ve been highly unlikely, and even if they did manage that, Malenia would have to have completely jumped to conclusions and believe Radahn and the Redmanes of all people would have kidnapped Miquella. Which is less unlikely.
TL;DR
Miquella’s ascension to godhood required Radahn’s death and a vessel according to the Secret Rite Scroll, a fact he would only learn once he reached the Realm of Shadows. The fact that Radahn fights Malenia would imply resistance to Miquella’s plan, as even if he wanted to “die honorably” he resists the Scarlet Rot, and definitely would not have approved betraying everyone, Ohga, Jerren, etc., by letting Malenia unleash the Scarlet Aeonia and destroying Caelid; as even in his insanity, he doesn’t betray Leonard.
So he does not approve of Miquella’s plan and even resists it by trying to fight Malenia, whom he granted an honorable duel as she was conflicted abandoning the Unalloyed Gold Needle and embracing the rot to defeat Radahn. As the needle was originally in her arm, and we see her adjusting her prosthetic before their duel which was probably when she resolved herself and broke the needle.
And Miquella is able to fulfill his wish without Radahn’s consent by putting his soul in the only usable demigod body that has also been corrupted by his charm, trapping Radahn’s soul in a charmed body.
(This part is pure speculation)
It’s only during our fight with Radahn do we see a bit of his true personality and rage leak out as the red aura around him is immediately drowned out by Miquella’s golden aura as he intervenes with duel to control Radahn directly, which is supported by the fact that during his grab attack he brings you to Miquella, instead of fighting you directly in your duel, as if ordered by Miquella to do so.
Radahn is Miquella’s trump card, but with Leda and the others, he is now his ONLY card, and his enemy is the one person who can actually be a threat to him and defeat Radahn.
Radahn needed to die. It is obvious only the dead can travel to the Land of Shadow after it got disconnected. Miquella "divested himself of his flesh", Mogh and Radahn both had to die for their body and soul to be brought over and everyone else in there is either native to the place or a Tarnished, and going by the opening cinematic, the tarnished are all dead, reviced by Marika's Grace
It would be very interesting to fight that enraged form of Radahn in the cutscene before Miquella intervenes and heals him.

Malenia with no spirit ashes took me like an 1 1/2 hours~, and I felt like I was getting progressively better at her fight (even evade her waterfowl step), but 2nd phase radahn idk even hours later. His first phase is cake (even with parrying). I loved this fight and this boss so much, it's easily top 3 from the DLC for me, it was so cool having a prime Radahn fight, and alongside Miquella, he was indeed sooooo beautiful.
For everyone playing the DLC : Read the new Radahn armor after this fight, it conects to the first trailers of the base game when he fights Malenia, which is pretty cool and probably shows how Miyazaki ( and Martin too ? ) had all planed all along.
We all where charmed by Miquella into thinking he was the cool guy and we would help him destroy Messmer or some sht like that, definitely a cool thing that the lore was not predictable, loved the DLC.

@@mfspectacular if you just watched the DLC trailers and started playing on the release without knowing nothing, you're not walking around the game predicting everything, it doesn't have to deal with knowing berserk or not, that's something people came up with after seeing the final boss fight, before that a bunch of people believed that Messmer or even Godwyn ( that was impossible ) would appear.
It was very well written and done, and everything on the beginning of the DLC led us to believe we would help Miquella until we are not.

He's meant to mirror godfrey- literally a godfrey stan, who also appears outta nowhere at the end. If anything im bummed he didnt drop the swords & go hand to hand 😂 Miquella has always mirrored griffith tho. Even before the dlc the bits of lore available made it clear he had anti christ levels of manipulation- just like griffith. the dlc just solidlifies that w the scale both share, theyre literal gods in their series. Also like griffith, he doesnt take no for an answer- evident in how he had to use mogh & basically soul trap radahn in his body. Radahn's refusal go join miquella & the shattering is 1for1 a parrelel to guts leaving the hawks & the eclipse- the absolute hellscape that followed.
Either way idk why youd think we'd actually help miquella. The only concrete thing w our tarnished is, as hewg put it; to slay the demigods & their god. The only ones we dont are godwyn, ranni & melina. All technically dead, or atleast no body w melina. Just talking the dlc for a sec, i fw the pace of it both gameplay & story wise. Messmer is basically maliketh & melina rolled into 1, & w the latter it's fitting as theyre siblings. He's been abandoned & betrayed, yet he's also keeping something stowed away only his death can release. Gameplay wise, it's the final boss rush for the base game w fire giant (&melina's kindling) & mailketh, the npc fight, godfrey, & then radagon/marika. The dlc matches that w messer acting as the beginning of the last act

It ain't a re-used boss, movesets are completely different, and if any of you dumbass's actually listened to the NPC's you would know why it's Radahn.
Miquella took Mohg's body and Radahns soul and used mohgs body as a vessel for radahns soul in the secret rite to bring Radahn back to life, and Miquella did all this so he could have a consort so he could ascend to godhood. (Marika had a consort, which was Godfrey, a consort is needed to ascend to Godhood) and the reason all that revival shit was possible is because "death" doesn't exactly exist in Elden Ring because of Marika shattering the elden ring and giving the rune of death to Malekith. The only things capable of actually killing things is the Black Knives and Malekith, or whoever is in possession of the Rune of Death.
Also to people saying Fromsoft was taking risks by doing this.
George R.R Martin didn't write any new story for the DLC, this shit was already part of the story and the lore, but just got put in the DLC instead of the base game. So if yall are going to blame someone for Radahn coming back, blame George R.R Martin.

Another theory is, when Miquella created halig tree to cure the rot but Mohg stole the seed in which Miquella resided before the tree could reach the full potential (Malenia still waiting there at halig tree for her brother )and in the beginning of the DLC, we see the tarnished touching the hand of Miquella to transported to the shadow realm, so everything happening in the DLC is fragment of imagination of Miquella. and reveals the true nature of Miquella (That he was trying to get Radahn to side with him to attain godhood which obviously Radahn rejected, which can also one of the reason why Malenia fought Radahn). So in current timeline, Radahn is gone, Miquella is gone and tarnished is already elden lord, so DLC is just like filler storyline which is revealing the connection between Radahn and Miquella which was unknown to others.
Nobody is complaining about the lore, but rather that the boss fight is absurdly unbalanced. Romina is the previous boss, and she's easy as fuck. Radahn and Miquella in the second phase don't stop spamming attacks, miracles and sending fromsoftware's shitty optimization to hell

I hate the gatekeepers that are like "git good" instead of giving advice and treat summing like it's "for weak asses", it's a game, you should have fun and fun is subjective; this "elite player" bullshit is really annoying.
On the other hand players that are constantly lamenting over the difficulty because they dont want to summon or change weapons are just dumb: you are forcing yourself over a challenge that isnt fun to you in the first place, why? The game gives you planty of options, try them.
Then in my opinion there are bosses that have clear issues in this dlc, specifically Bayle and Radahn to the point where it's even dumber to say "git good" but that also are not so dishonest to justify review bombing

It's thought to be fought by hitting his face yet he continuously dashes farward obstructing the camera and making It hard to hit him.
On top of that he has some follow-up attacks at the end of his combo which are completely random: sometime you have a window to attack and sometimes not without any visual clue.
And also he has a bit to much hp, moves his head a lot and has some attacks that are really hard on understanding how to Dodge and are even harder to if you lock him.
That's my experience tho, and i get that someone may like this kind of "Chaos" more then the "Chaos" of the lion thingy.

Seems Miquella already ascended to Godhood by the time we arrive in Enir Ilim. I believe he's not dead yet, and not only is he not dead yet, but the DLC is not over either. I believe there will be an update. The ending seemed very abrupt and sudden. And Miquella dying because we killed his puppet makes no sense. Unless there's something I don't know within the lore, I want to believe there will be a part 2.
I don't think there will be a content update for the story. Miquella had already lost his body. Yeah he became a god but then the tarnished ended him with his promised consort, only a memory of their youth remained.
The reseon why he was defeated by us was because there can only be one lord, us or radahn. Also if miquellas order came to pass it's pretty much the world would become kinder but we would lose our free will.

So story wise, Miquella needed a consort to become the new replacement for marika/radagon. His initial plan seemed to have been to make godwyn his consort, but after the night of the black knives and Radahn preventing any hopes for Godwyns soul to be returned to his body, he instead adjusted his plans to make Radahn his consort.
Radahn refused, and so miquella sent malenia to defeat him in the war of aeonia, which only partially worked and resulted in radahn staying alive for a good long while, albeit maddened by the scarlet rot.
Presumably, during the battle, miquella found and bewitched mogh and had him carry his body to his dynasty to basically poison and kill himself with the blood magic so he could arrive at the realm of shadow. The realm of shadow is basically where all souls return to after death, as told by the suppressing pillar and a few other item descriptions. After you defeat mogh and radahn, moghs body is transported to the R.o.S., more specifically to the area where promised consort radahn is fought, in order to be used as a vessel for Radahn’s soul. This is evident through the omen horns and blood magic radahn now sports during your battle.
While miquella waited for this to happen, he abandoned his flesh, his other half, and his love to become a god. When both he and P.C. Radahn were present at the crucible thingy, he would have been able to become a true god and not stay as an empyrian.
His one flaw, however, is that through this action he would be no different from marika. She abandoned all she had left after her people were ritualistically massacred by the hornsent, and we all know how that went down. His “age of compassion” would be one where all love would be towards him with no love being reciprocated, resulting in yet another broken age of life in the lands between.
It’s honestly quite a tragic tale for everyone involved. Mogh was manipulated and was used as no more than a vessel for someone else, radahn was poisoned with the scarlet rot and had his soul prevented from moving on, miquella tore himself apart to make no change in the world, etc etc.
The DLC is quite intriguing lore-wise when you know where to look, and I really really really hope we get another one before the next souls game is made
Great interpretation. It is amazing how well rounded the whole story around Marikas offspring is written. Miyazaki and George really took this one out for a walk on the park.
It was crazy what all that i understand without guides, just listen NPC quotes and read discription of items. Miyazaki make storytelling quite easy to understanding in this DLC
One correction, Radahn didnt prevent Godwyn to be resurrected, his soul was not recoverable due to destined death.

They made the vow before the shattering, but then Radahn stops the stars for the golden order, stopping Ranni's (and possibly Miquella's) "fate" (we need him dead to continue ranni's storyline)

Consort Radahn's helm description pretty much tells you that Malenia confronted Radahn on Miquella's behalf, which means that either Radahn didnt make that vow, or did but later backed out when he realised that he wouldn't be a warmonger anymore. That cutscene only wanted to point out that Miquella's intention were pure, but not that both of them were on the same page.

That’s why Ansbach is a summon at the end if you keep him alive, it’s a battle to kill Rahdan for good and kill Mohg’s body. We see that this is a possibility for demigods due to Godwyn and Ranni’s new forms. Seems this is something only they can do.

I love how you can tell who did and did not do Freyja and Sir Ansbach's questlines by how they react to seeing Radahn.
I seriously was sitting like why is everyone so shocked as if this wasn't basically thrown in your face and explained from the NPC story lines but I guess ppl just wanted to rush through the DLC for the right to say first I guess 🤷♂️

I was surprised that it straight up looked like radahn considering it’s technically mohgs body. I was expecting mohg with gravity attacks or radahn with leftover horns or something like that

So a bit of lore for you guys. Miquella, after the shattering, told Malenia about his plan to ascend to godhood. He sent her away to inflict the rot upon Radahn, cleaving his soul away and replacing it with the rot, as revealed by prime radahn's armor in which it says that Malenia told Radahn that he would be his consort. Meanwhile, Miquella enchants Mohg into steaing him away, thereby allowing him to divest his flesh and enter the realm of shadow. Once we kill Mohg (after Radahn), we enter the realm of shadow, and it is then that, thanks to us, he is able to steal away Mohg's body, as revealed by Sir Ansbach. Once in the realm of shadow, Miquella's rune continues to enchant the tarnished warriors into allegiance with him so that he may continue his plan, but as part of his plan he needs to destroy his rune, lifting the enchantment on the tarnished. At some point, he is able to fuse the body of Mohg with the soul of Radahn, as revealed by Prime Radahn having omen horns and the golden eyes of Marika's children and not Rennala's. Finally, during the battle with Prime Radahn, he is able to use a grab attack, that lifts you up to Miquella, and unless you have his discarded rune on your person that resist charms, he will insant-kill you through your own free will just giving up. The lore is a little convoluted, and Mohg is no longer the Mohglester but the Mohglested,but I overall enjoyed piecing together what I could. Lmk if I got anything wrong or have suggestions!

Why would he send Malenia to kill him only to then revive him? It makes no sense. Why moghs body specifically too?
I thought Radahn refused to be his consort so Malenia went after him to punish him/force him to keep the promise of being Miquellas consort.

I did all of the quests but I still missed it
I didn't talk with every Npc, but I did manage to give the scroll to Ansbach. Even if I would miss it the final boss would still be my favorit souls boss.

Thanks to Ansbach's quest, I knew Radahn was coming. These streamers' reactions just show that they clearly didn't do NPC questlines
When I replayed the dlc again (I needed a different build to take on him and I had save data backup) I ended up doing side quests this time and yeah the game outright tells you it’d be radahn if you did the ansbach quest

@@soulsenthusiasts1015 They also massively nerfed his damage and aggression. You can literally just check the ini files while fighting him if you're on PC and have it on disk. Revert it back to 1.01, and then compare it to the latest patch. His aggression value was equal to the DLC bosses currently, higher than Maliketh, higher even than second phase Malenia. It's currently lower than Godrick's.
And the damage of his meteors, the ones he summons in the second phase, you should check those out too. At 40 vigor in NG, they one shot me on 1.01. But on the current patch, I can survive all four of them.
And his weapon damage is about the same. His overhead slam brings the same character down to 10% HP from 100% at 1.01. But on the current patch, it takes away around 45%.
People saying it was just the hitboxes haven't tested it themselves. BjornTheBear did a video of pre nerf Radahn against all bosses. He could literally compete with endgame bosses. Made it razor close with Godfrey, beat Radagon. With the right RNG he can beat Rykard and Elden Beast. Meanwhile current patch Radahn barely beats Morgott, and only because of his meteor phase transition being a crutch since it wasn't nerfed. But he loses to everything after that because his aggression has been nerfed so badly that all bosses melt him before he even phase transitions due to taking ten seconds in between reaching 50% health, enhancing his blades, going for the mandatory overhead slam, and then finally jumping up. He's almost always dead before he gets to do it.
Radahn was nerfed into the ground. Even his hitboxes weren't "fixed", just nerfed. You can now stand at his legs and never get hit. What a waste of a beautiful boss. I'm glad the DLC redeemed him.
We have been asking for 2 years to fight Radahn at his prime. We got it. Miyazaki cooked again

Technically, no. Radahn is the son of Renalla and Radagon, Mohg is the son of Marika and Godfrey, while Miquella is the son of Radagon and Marika, but I can understand the confusion.

Dude I was thinking the same thing. If players took any time at all the explore and talk to all npcs this “reveal” would have been known to you once you give the latter from Ansbach to Freyja and she explicitly states “Oh Miquella is reviving Radahn. I’m all for it”
As I said in another comment, this information was seriously feed to you on a silver platter but these streamers just mash buttons past dialog and wanna rush the the finish as if they are all in a race to claim first, really fucking weird if ya ask me 🤷♂️

@@Halo0115 totally agree, I've read so much item description tryna gain knowledge on the lore of the area because I wanted to gather as much info as I could on my first playthrough, finding out so much info from the items excited me so much to keep finding more and learning even more of the lore behind the land of shadows and its inhabitants, idk what it is about others that just wanna rush rush rush, mash mash mash just to get the end and look dumbfounded at things that were seriously staring then right in the face lmfaoo

I only really have two complaints about this fight:
1. I really wish that they'd incorporated more of Mohg's design into Radahn here. There's I think like 1 or 2 attacks in the whole fight that utilize bloodflame in any capacity, and the heavy armor makes it look like it's just Radahn again in terms of character design. Now, I'm not super in the weeds of Elden Ring lore, so this complaint might be invalidated by that; I just think that it would've been cooler and more thematic.
2. The light beams in the second phase are just waaaaay too much, and I don't just mean that they're hard to dodge. Fromsoft went super overboard on the brightness and number of the particle effects, to the point where even just casually watching the phase 2 fight started making my head hurt after a while; I can't imagine spending hours upon hours actually playing it and trying to beat it.
Miquella's hair is another problem because it hides his swords so much when you're behind him you can't tell what he's gonna do
