News agency spent all that effort to blur the image of the scammer and fail to do so at time stamp 3:17.

That's called insurance fraud. They are charging him for an insurance coverage that he neither requested nor receives benefit for.

Same thing happened to me because shock of shockers I live in an apartment where other people have also rented years before. Progressive wtf. I looked it up they are notorious for this. Cracking down or scamming more so lately. No clue why corporate greed and corruption is on the rise but here we are.

Living with you doesn't mean they are allowed to drive your car. So if you have a car, your wife has one too, and your 18yrs old son has another car. Will progressive add 2 more drivers to the policy?

I’ve done exactly this. A classic car my brother who lived with me at the time wouldn’t drive. He was listed on my daily just in case.
Why spend $150 when he will never use it anyway?

According to them; Yes...I have a paraplegic sibling that stays with me on a shared responsibility basis. They cant tie their own shoes; Much less drive. According to this, 4 of my family members will need to add him to their policies, just because we split the responsibility between us...? Well, they can go F themselves, is all I can say!!! 😡 As if we all don't have enough financial responsibility...? 😡

If I'm fully insured everyone who drives that thing's fully insured they're going to get over it.

%100 should be illegal to add people to a policy, just because they live there!!! I care for a family member that cant even tie their own shoes; Much less drive my car...I would be beyond pizzed if they added them to my policy, just because they stay with me on a rotating basis...Imagine my siblings wouldn't be very happy either...? This is just WRONG!!! Just because someone lives somewhere, doesn't mean they drive...

When this was done in telecom it was considered slamming.
I got notice someone in Missouri was "a daily driver on my car" when I was in Colorado. A hell of a drive daily. Talking to a human for a few seconds made them realize it was fraud.
This is also why I use State Farm instead of Progressive or Geico. They're not perfect...but don't make it my burden wen they make a really stupid error that's not physically possible.

I dropped progressive a decade ago. My premiums were going up instead of down even though I had no incidents. I called and they said it was a new program to help people that couldn’t afford insurance. Hell I could barely afford insurance. I’m not supporting anyone else. I changed insurance that day.

What is it with insurance companies? Oh wait I forgot our premiums pay for the lobbying that gives them Vaseline

Usually insurance companies make it incredibly difficult to add someone without your consent. Chances are he hacked or managed to con someone into adding them onto a random person's insurance. I have always checked my bills to make sure there's anything fishy in there. he's going to probably have to close that account and reopen it and put extra security features onto it so someone can't pinsh the account. If the other driver gets into an accident or legal claims/insurance issues both parties are legally liable. Get the scammer off your claim before they do something that causes you a legal headache.

It's my understanding that an insurance company CANNOT add ANYONE to an insurance policy unless the policy owner does it themselves. This is insurance fraud, this guy needs to drop progressive and sue.

They don't "cost them $10 billion". The profitable insurance companies could collect $10 billion more profit by demanding multiple insurance policies on the same vehicle, despite only one person being able to drive it at a time.
