I bought the game when I went to the store to buy Warcraft III. I had money for one game with me and didn't get much allowance. Before I went to the PC games, I randomly checked GameCube titles and suddenly noticed that this weird game that I was curious about plus its strategy guide lying there and it would be covered by the money I had with me. I left the store with Viewtiful Joe + Strategy guide and instantly remembered that I had planned to get WCIII instead. I did never regret that decision and to this day never got Warcraft III and VJ is to this day one of my most favourite games ever.
As a kid i saw this game at some local grocery store for the area couldnt take my eyes off it and my mom bought it got home popped it in the gc and fell in love then my brother got home from school and felt the same way i did
It’s definitely one of those games you fall for when you get your hands on it! I didn’t know much about it besides the side scrolling, but once I picked it up I was blown away by how fun it was.
i got this game on the PS2 when i was very small, i didn't even know how to play! thankfully i remembered about this series and downloaded it for Dolphin Emulator, i finally beat the ultra v-rated mode yesterday and so unlocked every playable characters. The things that made this game something memorable is its art style, the cel-shading in this game is truly Viewtiful, Viewtiful Joe's outfit was really well done, the red and pink colors were really well put together
My sister bought me both Viewtiful joe 1 and 2 when i was around 9 or 10 & I've been In love with these games ever since. It inspired a Tattoo, as Joe would say "Heroes Wear scars as a badge of honor" Red Hot Rumble wasn't the finale I'd hoped for but it's a real party if you can get past the lack of a story structure. I haven't played it these days as a young adult. But ill watch youtube reviews such as yours as a reminder how viewtiful my childhood truly was. Thanks for creating this video essay. Maybe review the other games? The anime is worth your time
Thanks for sharing your experience with the game! I always love to hear people’s experiences from the games they grew up with. If I can find copies of the other games I’ll be sure to make videos about them! The first one was so fun, that I can definitely see myself playing more.
@@Under10Hours beware if you play viewtiful joe 2, the ending will leave a void. Hopefully one day we the fans get a 3rd conclusion from platinum games. Theres a spiritual successor called the wonderful 101 as well. I've never played it myself but Maybe if it crosses your path give it a try? God Bless 🙏🏾
@@rt9524 I’ll definitely keep that in mind with 2. I actually bought Wonderful 101 after playing VJ because of how interested I was in the creator’s work. Haven’t had a chance to play it yet, but it’s sitting on my shelf staring at me haha
I can empathize. My N-Gage broke (due to negligence and just generally being a dumb kid). Gave all the games to goodwill. My our wallets Rest In Peace.
“if your here because your nostalgic of this game. congratulations. your joe now.” im... im not that old... 😭 but all seriousness, great review. this is one of my favorite games and was surprisingly difficult despite the colorful art style that gave the opposite impression. i regret not playing red hot rumble but thanks to this throwback review, i’m now encouraged to look for it. awesome review again and definitely subscribing 👍
Hahaha we are all Joe now. Thanks so much for watching, and I’m glad you liked the video so much! Viewtiful Joe is much more challenging than I expected it to be, but it’s so rewarding when you figure it out. I recently found a copy of Viewtiful Joe 2 and I’m really looking forward to it.
I wish this game came back but I have just one question for you mate. . . . . what the heck is that pink thing called around joes neck? Also one and 2 and red hot rumble are great
I have both 1 and 2 still. I remember I think I was 5 when I played this on Gamecube. It was so fun but hard. I always chose adult mode to play on the most...which didn’t help the case 🥲😭 ❤️
I disagree with your title. Viewtiful Joe remaster/remake would be a breath of fresh air. we've needed an HD redo of this (and Afro samurai) years and years ago. I think the switch is the perfect device for it. of course I don't really disagree because I wouldn't be wanting it today if it didn't connect with me when I bought it for the GameCube. I shake my head at some titles that come back and the same when I see all the good ones (IMO) get bypassed. like Tobal 1 and 2. what a unique 3d fighter. the first one I recall having a dungeon crawling adventure mode. Soul Reaver. anyone of us could probably find at least a dozen completely different suggestions, but this video isn't about that. thanks for the vid.
I did not see you do any Red Hot One Hundred in your footage. If you zoom in and slow down and hold punch he does a crazy hard hitting combo that does a lot of damage. That becomes your best attack on most things. Game never really explains that is a move.
I'm a simple man, I see Viewtiful Joe, I click like.
I appreciate you stopping by!

I played the game as a kid and I loved it
It was so much fun! I’m looking for the sequel to play now!
I can't agree more great review great game both underrated
I will never forgive myself for selling my Gamecube and all the games I had for it (including this one) for like $35 at a garage sale many years ago

I was OBSESSED with this game! The PS2 version let you play as captain blue and Dante from the devil may cry series!
Highschool times for me, loved this game for GameCube.
God now this is a series I would love to see get a remake
We need a new Viewtiful Joe game on Ps5 😎 Or just release Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 in HD 4k 60fps on Ps5👍🏾
