I heard this song of impending disaster and all I could hear was, "If it keeps on coming, the bridge is going to go" with the violin making the sounds of metal breaking apart. This is an amazing song that sounds prophetic today.
Man, Robert Plant's voice has aged like whiskey in an oak barrel. Smooth, but smoky! Johnny Cash got gravelly, but just as powerful in his later years. Kudos to those greats that defy the grey hair!
As of 2000, Johnny's voice drastically deteriorated big. It was between American Recordings II (1995-1996) and American Recordings III (2000). He had serious damage to his vocal chords and lungs during that time, of which he never recovered from.
Granted it wasn't as "haunting", but like most Led Zep songs this was originally a folk song from 1929 they re-imagined as rock. So really, taking any of their songs back to folk is a natural step
@@mike8984ify I used to annoy my Zep loving friends as a folkie by saying they were a Folk band! Of course they were! They combined Old English and US Blues/ folk songs (which were Mostly European anyway) and threw in some nonsense of their own and Voila! Best band Yet! Then Robert added Moroccan and Indian and gawd knows what else. and we have magic like this.

Evocative, haunting; an awesome imagining of the near 100 year old classic set to neo-celtic melodies. Still, I had a hard time getting Bonham out of my head hammering the drums of Valhalla to the original Zeppelin rendition. Great work by Krauss, Plant and those who composed this amazing interpretation.
That's when musicians evolve into their own jam and bask in it. So organic, the more this group of musicians play together the more they gel. It's beautiful to watch the transformation over the last year.
Have been a fan of LZ since I bought the first LP, but there is not enough mention here of Alison Krauss, a great artist in her own right, and one who I never thought a guitar-loving Rock fan could come to admire, but here I am. We can all be "Friends".
I love Allison Krauss..both her voice and her fiddle playing- she has become the Linda Ronstadt of the 2020s...she has such a beatific look on her face too that belies the enchanting magic she is providing together with Robert Plant..fantastic! I saw them a week laster at the BST Hyde Park as special guests of the Eagles and they were as good if not even better..

Thank you for the love ❤️ I hope you’ll never stop listening to my music 😘😘
Yesterday the cargo ship ran into the Francis Scott Key bridge. A sight that I saw many times yesterday. Today, because I like this song, it automatically came up on UA-cam. I heard this song of impending disaster and all I could hear was, "If it keeps on coming, the bridge is going to go" with the violin making the sounds of metal breaking apart. This is an amazing song that sounds prophetic today.
Holy shit Allison playing the opening of this song on her fiddle is life I didnt know I needed.
I will play this 1000 times
They just brought the innocence back to music
Man, Robert Plant's voice has aged like whiskey in an oak barrel. Smooth, but smoky! Johnny Cash got gravelly, but just as powerful in his later years. Kudos to those greats that defy the grey hair!
Let those who have ears to hear…
As of 2000, Johnny's voice drastically deteriorated big. It was between American Recordings II (1995-1996) and American Recordings III (2000). He had serious damage to his vocal chords and lungs during that time, of which he never recovered from.
Top of that list is the wonderful Emmylou Harris!
R U kidding me! This was absolutely spell binding.
Stuart Duncan on violin was a very welcome addition!
What a version
I mean taking the When the Levee Breaks and transforming it to this amazingly haunting folk song
True musicianship
Amazing
Granted it wasn't as "haunting", but like most Led Zep songs this was originally a folk song from 1929 they re-imagined as rock. So really, taking any of their songs back to folk is a natural step

@@mike8984ify True. Note: the haunting melody she plays is from Friends.
They still got it
So greatful for this. I love the brilliance of Alison Krauss and Robert Plant as outstanding musicians and performers. For the two to come together is absolutely divine! This arrangement is just amazing!
Hi I just wanted to thank you again for being so supportive and following me on my journey. I love inspiring and encouraging others. People like you help me to keep showing up! Hope you are having an amazing day!!
Plant and Allison work and sound awesome together, and Plant still has it, sounds great ❤️👍, Nice to hear friends off of Zeppelin 3 , underrated song.
Thank you Alison for your awesome violin shredding that human words cannot explain how good it is for our soul !
This specific performance needs to be put on a live album, tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat amazing!
Grow up.

GET OUT MORE OFTEN...
@@harryballsacky I probably should, but ya know, people suck...
Absolutely mesmerizing.
only realised after the 10th listening or so how the drums are like the thunder before the rain.............awesome.
This is my fifth time watching this in the last 24 hours. Incredible. Just. Wow.
Goosebumps!!! Man that was awesome!!
Psychedelic atmosphere is incredible in this version
That's when musicians evolve into their own jam and bask in it. So organic, the more this group of musicians play together the more they gel. It's beautiful to watch the transformation over the last year.
Glad you get it, some commenters are hoping for a nostalgia and getting something completely different.
Such a haunting and beautiful rendition of this classic!!!
@Robert Plant I am wonderful!!!
Robert Plant outstanding and unique Artiste’
Wow ❤️🔥🎻 EVERYTHING about this was amazing. It was an experience to listen and watch this!
Definitely
Truly unique, would expect nothing less. Can you imagine having been there? Wow.
Two of the best fiddlers on the planet playing there
Have been a fan of LZ since I bought the first LP, but there is not enough mention here of Alison Krauss, a great artist in her own right, and one who I never thought a guitar-loving Rock fan could come to admire, but here I am.
They are magical together.
