The Ecumenical Patriarch Of Constantinople and New Rome has the sole authority to grant a Tomos Of Autocephaly to any Orthodox Church that requests it of him. This is enshrined in Canon Law both in The First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea in 325 AD as well as in the Fourth Ecumenical Council in Chalcedon. The Russian Patriarchate was never ceded Canonical Jurisdiction of the Metropolia of Kyiv in 1686 by Constantinople ,only the right to ordain The Metropolitan Of Kyiv who in turn would remain under the Canonical Jurisdiction of Constantinople. The Russian Church later usurped this right granted to it by Constantinople by annexing the Ukrainian Church and placing it under the authority of Moscow--now that was uncanonical. Patriarch Bartholomew simply put things right by granting Autocephaly and returning Ukraine to his Jurisdiction, with the request and consent of the Ukrainian people.

I know that the Orthodox Church's structure is a mystery to most but this broadcast is angled through a fundamental misperception. The spiritual leader of the Orthodox is Jesus Christ. Patriarch Bartholomew is one bishop, equal in rank to all other Orthodox Bishops. He is head of his jurisdiction - the patriarchate of Constantinople, not the entire Orthodox Church. This is very important for people to understand so they don't get the wrong ideas. Orthodoxy is lead by the council of Bishops. It is not ruled by one figure like a "pope".
The Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew I did the right thing by accepting Ukraine's request for a national Ukrainian Church. As he did centuries earlier with other nations, the Bulgarians, the Russians, the Greeks, the Slovaks etc etc All Orthodox Christian countries have their own Autocephalous Church. Why not Ukraine too? Moscow sees Ukraine as a breakaway province, while it is an independent State since the 90s.
I’m curious do you see American involvement in the push for Ukraine independence? What do you think America will do if they succeed? Can you see past your nose?
Vanraj vannu006 The other Orthodox countries have autocephalous churches. Why not Ukraine? When Russia took over Crimea the Russian Orthodox Church seized all of the churches and kicked out the Ukrainian clerics. No wonder people in Ukraine do not want their church to be under the Patriarchate of Moscow! (Ukraine is not a Russian colony, satellite or vassal state)
So many Orthodox Churches I'm confused. Some Orthodox are with Rome the Byzantine Church and Some Ukrainian are with Rome. The first Orthodox Church was Greek The first Bible was in Greek. Peter (Simon Bar Jonas) Mark Andrew and some more were Jews The brothers James and John were Greek. Jesus picks up on Jews first as God He has commenced with Jews He then incorporates Gentiles, Greeks but the Roman Empire was ruling and are very much involved.

And why would the Russian state care ? The church and state are not the same, as per Russian constitution….so State needs to stay our of church, just like church must stay out of state ! Okay?
In Russia the Church is subservient to the state and the church is controlled by the FSB. The church is also a tool of the secret police in Russia. If you live outside Russia it is completely logical that you don’t want that.
If the newly independent Ukrainian Orthodox Church conducts itself well, when both the patriarchs of the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Russian Orthodox Church are gone, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will get accepted eventually by all other churches because the move was after all canonical.
In the Church I pray where unity is unity and faith, believing, no one is ashamed of one another, in the true faith or in believing. These things seem to be happening in other places too. Christ Jesus is the one and only Christ and one and only one body amidst the Christian faith. Divisions are very difficult. There are many interpretations, or branches of the christoan faith but Christ Jesus is the foundation. It is a prayer the one foundation is a unifying aspect of the faith in Christ Jesus. Even with different aspects of the faith, each one has their gift in the spirit and faith but together are the faith the Christianity. Or are my thoughts. The faith is the healing of all things, in and through Christ Jesus, aside from the world and what is in it. Different churches ok. Different spiritual gifts and messages, But ultimately unified in one foundation, the faith, that is in Christ Jesus,, God's only begotten son by way of immaculate conception. John 3:16. In my opinion and if I may be so bold to speak my opinion with all due respect.

Jesus says " UNLESS YOU ( NOT ONLY) EAT of My BODY { THAT PAID FOR YOUR ENEMY's sins ALSO}, (BUT ALSO), & DRINK OF MY BLOOD, YOU HAVE NO LIFE ON YOU". Clearly, you need to believe what Jesus says. " This is the cup of the new covenant in my bood". Great report
Yes, the Ulrainian Orthodox Church doesn’t believe in Spell Checkers.
Fair point...
Ok now you are just inventing a country....
Very good decision only the pain can feel Ukrainians not any other
Thanks

I know that the Orthodox Church's structure is a mystery to most but this broadcast is angled through a fundamental misperception. The spiritual leader of the Orthodox is Jesus Christ.
Patriarch Bartholomew is one bishop, equal in rank to all other Orthodox Bishops. He is head of his jurisdiction - the patriarchate of Constantinople, not the entire Orthodox Church. This is very important for people to understand so they don't get the wrong ideas. Orthodoxy is lead by the council of Bishops. It is not ruled by one figure like a "pope".
Time for the movement to join the Ukrainian Catholic church
Ukraine is The Land of the Two Churches. Moscow must be destroyed.
No. Just no.
Orthodox are not Catholic and
the Roman Catholic church
is about to slide into the abyss.
Actly quite the opposite is planned. There are talks of UCC joining the newly reinstated Ukrainian Orthodox Church!
Russia has only itself to blame. Russian influence has diminished slightly.
en attendant, l'ukraine s'est autodétruite
*west slaves.
As of today (4/28/22) 58% of orthodox in Ukraine belong to the NEW Ukrainian church. ENOUGH of Moscow.

OmG, all the idolsssssss, wow! Good for Rusia!!!! Who cares about this pagan, and prostitute church. One less 849 more to go!!!!
The Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew I did the right thing by accepting Ukraine's request for a national Ukrainian Church. As he did centuries earlier with other nations, the Bulgarians, the Russians, the Greeks, the Slovaks etc etc
All Orthodox Christian countries have their own Autocephalous Church. Why not Ukraine too?
Moscow sees Ukraine as a breakaway province, while it is an independent State since the 90s.
I’m curious do you see American involvement in the push for Ukraine independence?
What do you think America will do if they succeed?
Can you see past your nose?
Things are not getting better
Remember WOLYN 1943;
This is clearly rogue politics interfering with religion. That being the case all should have a right to decide what they wish to worship.
Rogue politics? How about the fact that the Kremlin has essentially turned the ROC into another branch of the Russian government?

The other Orthodox countries have
autocephalous churches. Why not
Ukraine?
When Russia took over Crimea the
Russian Orthodox Church seized
all of the churches and kicked out
the Ukrainian clerics. No wonder
people in Ukraine do not want their
church to be under the Patriarchate
of Moscow!
(Ukraine is not a Russian colony,
satellite or vassal state)
Russia forced this with their invasion of Ukraine
ITS NOT CANONICAL CHURCH
Why do you ask russians about Ukrainian church and don't ask Ukrainians?
Because they afraid they won’t have any support of the split
So many Orthodox Churches I'm confused. Some Orthodox are with Rome the Byzantine Church and Some Ukrainian are with Rome.
The first Orthodox Church was Greek The first Bible was in Greek.
Peter (Simon Bar Jonas) Mark Andrew and some more were Jews The brothers James and John were Greek. Jesus picks up on Jews first as God He has commenced with Jews He then incorporates Gentiles, Greeks but the Roman Empire was ruling and are very much involved.
it's all fairy tell

retroxlove Ulrainians are angered now!
Watching is this in May 2022…the interviewer asks “ will this anger Russia”? - well, girl friend, Russia has already attacked Ukraine, bombed it into oblivion, and scorched three ground, planted mines, killed innocent civilians, innocent women, children, elderly…soooo, really, Female FIREND reporter, check the news before you ask.
Unite yourself people of God...VVV
God help us from ourselves, Holy Theotokos help us recallin all things your Son Christ is always the center of the Orthodox Christian Faith!
Why not??
Christianity is the only way. ⛪💜
Russian or Ukrainian Christianity?
No it is not...

SCHISMATIC CHURCH
Why people pray 🙏 do devil 😈
Jesus The Christ, The empowered prophet Deut.18v18-19 ... He IS THE LIVING WORD OF GOD Jn.1v1+....
... IF WE DO NOT BELieVE THE PROVEN WORD OF GOD as It is written Jn.18v37, Jn. Jn 12v48
then such a person DOES NOT BELIEVE IN JESUS Jn. 12v48... JESUS SAYS Matt.7v20... TRUE FAITH IS NOT JUST A VERBAL ASCENT THAT JESUS HAS PAID FOR MY SINS.
UNLESS YOU RECEIVE THE LORD's meaning of His New Covenant, you are believing erroniously, & not letting Him teach you, as also did not Adam, & all those who rejected the Testimony of NOAH, & OF GOD.
Jeremiah pronounced woe on the false shepherds. Why does the patriarch of Moscow stand by while the sheep in Ukraine are killed? Look to the good shepherd who lays down his life for the sheep, the King, Jesus. Psalms 22, 23, 24. Jesus is the one who will inherit the nations Psalm 2 ad in Him the meed will inherit the earth Psalm 25 and Psalm 37.

You're either a Believer in Christ, or you're not. "Orthodoxy" doesn't matter to God.
