- Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, has been warned that trying to ban the country's oldest and most supported Christian church could seriously hurt its chances of joining the EU.
There's increasing pressure on leaders from the West to step in and prevent the Ukrainian government from banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) due to its historical connections with the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC).
International lawyers representing the Holy Synod of the UOC have written to leaders like Rishi Sunak, the UK's Prime Minister, Joe Biden, the US president, and Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission. They are urging these leaders to ask Mr. Zelensky to "pause efforts to ban this important institution."

If he did a peace deal at the start he would of saved 500,000 Ukrainians. People are now being dragged off the streets against there will and being used as cannon fodder. In democracies there is more than one TV Channel, main political parties and main Christian denominations aren't banned, no mass extrajudicial killings, disappearances and torture, men from 18 to 60 aren't banned from leaving the country, people aren't rounded up in the streets and dragged to their death. Ukraine has more than one tv channel. It's a multi party democracy. As we know, mass executions have been carried out on its soil by Russian occupational forces. There have been two elections and three different presidents since 2014. Not sure why this people are so concerned about this. Christianity is dead in Europe anyway. Look at the U.K. how many people do really attend a church regularly. Many churches have now been abandoned. There was a church in my neighbourhood that has now been turned into cinema.
I don't understand your point. There are still faithful believers who attend Church regularly all over the world. Just because there is a decline in the UK doesn't mean Christianity is dead elsewhere.
